I read the manual, the basic workbook, and the workbook plus. There are a huge number of problems to solve and some good, organized lessons. It was fun to finish these workbooks, but the pedagogical approach is a little sloppy. There's a chess coach named Han Schut. He has a YouTube channel with a series of videos on the concepts from this Chess Steps learning method. He does a great job explaining and teaching the content. Without him, though, I'd find this whole endeavor mediocre. However, I don't really have a right to judge these books because they weren't meant for self-study or adult improvers. They were meant to be accompanied by a great teacher, like Schut.
