I liked that Iris has a big obstacle in this volume. Her business and governance has grown without many issues so it was interesting seeing how she handled an issue with no access to the pieces to fix it.
I appreciate that Reia makes sure to note who's contributed what. While I love reading about empowering women, it would have been impossible for Iris to do half the things she does without smart, eager, and dedicated people around her. It helps that some people's interests align with her own. But she certainly brings the ideas, encouragement, structure, and trustworthiness to follow her in all she does.

I made the mistake of not reviewing this right after I finished it, so my memories are fuzzy. I figured it was best to finally write something up before starting the third book and further muddying my memories.
A couple years have passed since the beginning of the first book, and Iris is doing well. Her company is thriving, and she's doing a brilliant job governing Armelia. She's gone back to the palace for the first time since her fiance dumped her, to attend the Foundation Day celebration, and even that's gone relatively smoothly.
However, there's political unrest brewing, and Iris has shadowy opponents in high places who are setting her up to fail. Luckily for her, she still has quite a few friends and supporters, but will it be enough?
Like I said, I finished this a while ago and have since forgotten most of it. I had to flip through it to remind myself what had happened. It didn't help that the world of this series is the usual generic "sort of feudal Europe" that's practically interchangeable with the settings of many of the other light novels I've read.
Even though this wasn't the most memorable read, I did appreciate that things finally got a bit difficult for Iris. She'd made sweeping changes in Armelia with hardly a ripple in public opinion, beyond praise for how amazing a governor she was, so it was nice to finally have more conflict and obstacles in her way. That said, I thought things were dealt with awfully quickly and easily. Also, some of the emotional aspects seemed to come out of nowhere. The whole thing with her only depending on people up to a point didn't seem to fit with how she'd previously interacted with her friends and supporters.
I don't know how much longer I'll continue reading this series, but I at least have volume 3 in my possession. I hope the author doesn't plan to keep Iris in the dark about Dean's secret for too much longer, but I don't see how this series will manage to continue more than a volume or so past that revelation, unless the author plans to follow Iris as she turns the country into something as close to modern life as possible (but of course more perfect).

I read the second volume* of this story directly after the first, again through English fan-translations. The translation of this novel was created through the work of multiple groups and there are noticeable differences between them but nothing drastic enough where you can't still follow along.
After reading this novel, it feels very much as if the first volume was purely set up for the real story to begin with volume 2. I enjoyed the first volume but I was a little critical of the fact that Iris had encountered little in the way of a real threat since becoming the representative leader of the fief. This volume addressed this issue well, establishing the immediate threat stemming from the increasingly bitter rivalry between the Kingdom's political factions over the potential successor to the throne. It also established the distant-but-looming threat of war with a neighbouring Kingdom. The political attacks on Iris (and her family) did a lot to humanise her and when she overcame them, it really highlighted her conviction and her cunning.
Overall, I really enjoyed this volume! It was a definite improvement over the first and made me want to continue on with the story to see how Iris and her rivals will strike at each other next. Not only that, the potential romance between Iris and a certain character is a strong hook as well! I'll be looking forward to reading the next volume as it is translated.
* I should note that the fan-translations use chapter numbers from the web novel version of the story and it is uncertain based on information in English quite how many web novel chapters make up the six chapters from this volume. One website lists chapters 32 to 50 but going by the novel's artwork, it is more likely it goes up to around chapter 60. Today's post is on Accomplishments of the Duke's Daughter, vol 2 by Reia and illustrations by Haduki Futaba. It is 242 pages long and is published by Airship. The cover has Iris, Dean, and Berne on it, looking very glamorous. As is it the second volume in the series, you need to have read the first novel to understand the story. The intended reader is someone who likes political books with a light side of romance and court drama. There is no foul language, no sex, and no violence in this novel. The story is mostly told from first person perspective of Iris with some parts of chapters told from third person close of different characters for world and character building. There Be Spoilers Ahead.

Review- This volume starts to have lots more of the court and political drama, as Iris is back in the capital by invitation from the queen dowager. In the capital, Iris doesn't waste her time and does more than just go to parties. She gets a feel for what is going on between the two princes and what the 'heroine' is doing. Then someone starts to move against her and tries to have her removed from the state church. With the help of her friends and the work she has done, Iris able to save her family and reputation. This volume has good character, plot, and world growth, and the reader gets a sense of how much time has passed from the beginning of the story. I really enjoyed this volume with all the things that I have listed above. Things are moving in the background of the story that is going to be very interesting to see what is going to happen.
I give this novel a Four out of Five stars. I get nothing for my review and I bought this novel with my own money.

El segundo libro de la serie "El sentido común de la hija del Duque" es desde el capítulo 32 al 73.
En este libro empieza a desarrollarse la trama. Una vez que los personajes así como el estado del feudo Armelia (junto con todos los cambios que ha hecho Iris) están establecidos inician los verdaderos problemas. La Reina Viuda, madre del actual Rey, invita a Iris a una fiesta de nobles y debido a su interacción queda claro que la casa Armelia está del lado del Primer Príncipe.
Por cierto ya conocimos al Protagonista masculino, el chico que se está robando el corazón de Iris, es uno de los ayudantes que le mandan del gremio de comerciantes para ayudar con la carga de trabajo. Su nombre es Dean.
El principal problema que se trata es que la iglesia excomulga a Iris; principalmente por malentendidos y como trampa hacia ella y su conglomerado Azura.
Durante todo el tiempo que planea y trata de arreglar todo ella se va hundiendo en las aguas de la desesperación y conocemos un lado más humano más débil de si misma, cosa de la que se priva ella sin siquiera notarlo al ser enfrentadas por Dean. Ella tiene miedo, un miedo terrible de volver a ser traicionada por personas a las que aprecia como cuando fue expulsada de la academia, y alza un muro en su corazón. Pero debido a la crisis en la que se encuentra y gracias a Dean logra tomar un respiro de ese miedo.

It’s been two years since Iris was publicly humiliated by her former fiancé and remembered her past life as an accountant. Since then, she’s turned being banished into a fulfilling life. Her business is booming and she’s transformed Armelia for the better. Now her life is about to change once again because the royal family has invited her to a celebration, which will force Iris back into the politics of high society. With her family and friends at her back, she’s about to learn how to play the game and discover who else is on her side.
I’ve been enjoying the manga adaptation of this series, so I’m excited that I’ll be continuing the light novels because I loved this volume. The first volume was good, but the manga adaptation was so close to that volume that I wasn’t sure if I would be continuing after this one. We’re starting to see how the light novels are able to expand more on the characters and this world. I think this will be a pattern we’ll see as the story continues, which will make the manga adaptation a great companion to the series. I’m excited to check out the next volume soon.

Pretty much the same thing as volume 1. Everything works out so well for our main character because everyone is oh so talented. There is an attempt to finally make the main character faces some kind of conflicts but it honestly felt like it came out of nowhere or at least it wasn't written well enough to make you care or notice the build up. I thought it would get better but this volume feels like it has no direction. I'm also starting to get bored of all the characters.

Iris is in a bit more trouble when the church decides to excommunicate her, leading to a chain of reactions affecting both her duchy and her business. Fortunately, she has some very strong allies in her corner and her network seems to keep growing as the conflict continues. Her relationship with Dean continues to be more complex as well, though we get more insights into his own situation and those who support him in this story.

I do appreciate that Iris is faced with a major challenge in this book and how she really fights to overcome it. She doesn’t feel as much as a Mary Sue in this compared to the first book. It’s interesting how she goes about resolving the issue as well.
However, this book did feel a bit messy in terms of the direction? Maybe the novelty of the first book wore off a bit as well.
Liked it but definitely won’t be my favourite of the series as I enjoyed the first book more.

อึดอัดแทนไอริส ฝ่ายราชินีกับเจ้าชายลำดับที่สองทำเกินไปจริงๆ ขับออกจากศาสนาในยุคที่ศาสนาแทบจะมีอำนาจเหนือกว่าราชวงศ์แบบนั้น ไม่ต่างจากการบอกว่านางเอกเป็นแม่มดเป็นคนบาปในช่วงยุคกลางของแถบยุโรปเลย แต่ยังดีที่นายคนนั้น (พระเอก) มาช่วยทัน แถมยังมีพ่อแม่รวมไปถึงพระชนนีคอยซับอยู่ด้านหลัง ไม่อย่างนั้นนิยายคงจบที่เล่มนี้แล้ว

Hate how short it is- Wonderful read.
I don't even need to really say too much, I read the first volume and decided I wanted more, thus here I am writing about the second. It's wonderfully paced and the characters have depth to them, I simply wish I could have more content, but I suppose that's why there's another volume to buy.

Iris continues to improve the duchy she controls. She has every potential of being a true leader in society and a political force to be reckoned with despite her motivation to avoid the fighting royal factions in the Capital. Still she gets dragged into it because the company she started is too influential in culture and economics of the kingdom. Can't wait to see what happens next!

Ahhh!!! This series just keeps getting better and better! I absolutely loved this book! The political intrigue and world building and romance was just spectacular! I love it when a book makes me have a stupid grin on my face that just won't go away because the book is THAT GOOD - and this book really was that good! I am so excited to see where the next book in the series goes!

I love light novels like these; especially stories that humanise it's characters, provides good character development, and realistic situations and experiences (of course the story is not purely this but still has these aspects)

This series continues to be very enjoyable, and I look forward to seeing how things proceed from here! I still have a few issues with it (like how everything seems to conveniently work out all of the time), but it's a fun series to read! And I really, really love the art!

Another good read
A good continuation of the first novel but it now starts hitting into some of the external political backlash. I liked the characters and the main female protagonist. Strong, moving forward, and has her head up.

女性向轉生系的第二集。
這集的封面是弟弟跟男主角。
這集政治戲變多了，整體來說還是非常ご都合主義，不過看到教皇陷害女主角家結果輸到脫褲還是滿好笑的。老實說這集粉紅色有多了那麼一點，可是一點都不萌啊！但為了看第二王子被打臉我應該會繼續看下去（吧）
而且基於是女性向作品，總覺得有義務把它看完啊。
