secret boyfriend is squeezed to extremes no normal person could or should be able to handle
psychologically.
Violence.
Forbidden sex.
Manipulation.

big fucking sigh. this started off great, and with every new chapter i was more and more flabbergasted, but idk what the authors were smoking to think that what they added after 74% was a great idea because it wasn’t. it didn’t connect with the story at all. i’m very disappointed because this was going to make it to the most fucked up books i’ve read list, but not anymore because of how stupid the end was. you can tell the authors watched too much of the tv shows “the boys” and “dark” 🙄

4 stars for the first 74%, 0 stars for the rest of the book. i’m settling on 3 stars instead of 2 because the level of fuckery did shock me a lot.

1st person - multiple povs
erotic horror - not a romance
gore/violence/rape/incest
no hea

wtf with this book, it is so depraved, dirty and disgusting, this book left me with my jaw open, I needed a couple of days to assimilate this book, the characters are so dirty and depraved each scene of them was completely crazy, the twists of the plot that were discovered, there are some scenes that disturbed me, I will never look at an octopus, a carrot and a dog the same way.

Well congratulations, I didn’t think it could be done. But I’ve finally been broken. I read a LOT of erotic horror thriller taboo dark romance books so I’m one billion percent the target audience for this book. And yet, I can confidently say this is the most effed up wild taboo disturbing book I’ve ever read. The octopus. I can’t. Also, idk if there’s supposed to be dark humor mixed in or if I’m just that messed up in the head and desensitized but between picking my jaw up off the floor and saying “what the f**k” out loud, I laughed a few times too. This book was exceptionally written and so far past pitch black it’s its own new color. It’s a black hole of depravity and I loved every twisty graphic spicy page. **slow claps**

Let me start my saying this was 100% the most depraved book I have ever in my life read. Kudos to you both for exceeding my expectations on what I thought possible for an erotic horror.

No once did I actually want to put this book down. So let’s make that clear. My mind is just as fucked apparently 😂 there were so many “what the fuck” moments and I caught myself with my mouth open several times.

The trigger warnings were definitely there for a reason.

What I really enjoyed was seeing two authors that I love come together for this. They both have different writing styles and brought together was just totally unhinged and completely unexpected.

I learned new things. I felt sick to my stomach. I questioned my own sanity. So I’d say this was a success. ✅

Definitely 5/5
Spice level- uncharted. I can’t/won’t even number it.

Definitely recommend- already told several people about it.

I enjoy dark romance as much as the next person but wow. This was a little too much for me. The concept of trials and some show are interesting but the rest was too much for me.

I’m glad this book found its audience, but it might not be the book for me.

I don’t know if it’s how it’s just the copy I got from Amazon (thinking of AWS being down)? But the fast-paced scenes that seem to slam back to back are jarring and when it manages to be cohesive the dialogue seems to struggle to feel real. I just felt really confused by the end of it all wondering if I had paragraphs or sentences missing.

Going Live Trial by Sin is the most unhinged book I have ever read. If you are considering reading this book then I suggest you read the trigger and content warning list. I went into this book knowing that it was going to depraved, which the wild and crazy shit was not my cup of tea (I do know what I was getting into when I signed up to read this book). Even though it wasn’t my cup of tea, it didn’t turn me away from reading it. The thing that I really enjoyed about the book was that it brings up the question and contemplation of what would you do for the one/ones you love or what would you do out of anger or revenge. Along with the fact that how do these decisions and actions impact, question, or change who we are, what we believe, what we value, etc. This is really highlighted by Xane’s experience since you get to experience his inner monologue. I will get into this in my psych post so stay tuned. Now, there are a lot of twists and turns in this book that will have your jaw on the floor or gasping. The things that were challenging was understanding and some things I had more questions that were left unanswered. I still enjoyed the book despite the depravity and questions left unanswered. I have to say this again, PLEASE READ THE CONTENT AND TRIGGER WARNINGS PRIOR TO READING THIS BOOK. I do not recommend this book for everyone since the content and trigger warnings are pretty extensive and touch on things that are not for someone or disturbing to some.

😳🫣🤯😱 These were my faces reading this book. Holy freaking moly Isaac and Amity took this book to a whole new level of darkness and messed up story telling, but I loved it. 🫣

You know a book is going to be good when it has this warning before you dig into the story.. “ This is your one and only warning: Don't read this book...”

This story primarily focuses around siblings: Eden, Sage, and Xane. One day they get a random call from a mysterious person, Ransom. They must continue going through trials or they are threatened harm to those they love.

Every time I thought, oh it can’t get sicker or any more twisted, Isaac and Amity called my bluff. I don’t know where these two come up with their ideas, but holy moly they blow my mind every single time.

When I found out two of my favorite indie authors were working together to bring us a sick and twisted story, I couldn’t sign up and say heck yes fast enough.

I would have never guessed the twist of this story, I did not see it coming and had my head spinning. The descriptions, WOW! It went into so much detail, so crazy.

Make sure you read ALL the warnings, this book is not for everyone!

Well what can I say?!?

I’ve had to reread this book twice more to be able to even comprehend how to word this review…

In a nutshell this book is all kinds of triggers, PTSD trauma invoking, depravity… (or in the authors words “deliciously depraved” and I kind of have to agree with him)

However regardless of the level of insanity this book can invoke it is 100% worth every single second of omg, WTF, my brain can’t cope that it produces.

Would I recommend? HELL YES
Would I recommend to the snowflakes of this era? UH F#@K NOPE.. Not unless you wanna be rocking and crying in your corner questioning reality and the fact that this book only skims the surface of how sick depraved and utterly evil this world we live in is 😂😂😈

If you love a story of horrors and you enjoy testing your gag reflexes then delve right in, I promise you won’t be disappointed. If you’re a prissy princess that cries over the last cookie being taken or your fella saying hi to someone else, RUN, Run far far away because this book is NOT for the likes of you 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

Don’t say I didn’t warn you 😂😂😂

Okay. So I’m finally reviewing, I had to give myself a little while before I did as I wanted to be honest.
This is one of those books that make you go WTF, OMG, WAIT?!, WOAHHH!

Please read the tropes & triggers and be prepared for a wild ride!
Plot - woahhhh, my neck kept being swung back and forth with the twists & what was going on!

One of the main triggers I wasn’t a fan of, but I also wanted to keep reading, it glued me to it and clings to your mind. The authors were so gracious when I explained my need to take a moment in reviewing and my initial reactions. Because the brains behind this book are top level masterminds! Is the premise hitting hard on certain subjects lines? Yes. But does it pull you further into reading? Absolutely. When a book makes you feel ALOT of different feelings & emotions, you know you are on to a winner, however dark and taboo it may be.
Both authors (couple goals for writing together 😍) are a strong duo in their work, clever, write well, absolutely immense at bringing shock value in their writing and after finishing this, I genuinely can’t wait to read more of their work together and separate in the future!

Thank you for having me as an Adv Reader 🖤

I read a lot, a variety of genres and tropes. I like to mix things up; luckily, I have no triggers. Nothing indeed “triggers” me in any way. I’m not sure what that says about me. We are not going to unpack that. Going Live: Trial by Sin has one the most extended TW/CW lists I’ve ever seen, and everything listed is in the story.

Author duo Amity Grey and Issac Lotharus have created a story that is a tremendously depraved mix of a nightmarish version of the Hunger Games—several over-the-top trials a family goes through led by one individual, doing whatever it takes to protect themselves and each other. Similarly to the Hunger Games, they have an audience. Hence, “Going Live.”

“Going Live: Trial by Sin” is quite dark and not for everyone and may not be for every dark reader. Those TW/CWs are there for a reason. The storyline is quite creative as with the twists. I did find myself having to pause and go back to understand who was who and what was what, but I believe that may have been the author's intent. Nevertheless, if it’s dark and twisted, you want Amity Grey, and Issac Lotharus brought it.

Was great until it got weird

This is the first book by this Husband wife duo and the blurb is what got me. The Erotic Horror of three lives in an insane amount of Trial that challenges them and was hosted on the dark web for all to see. The Taboo, the dark, disgusting and derange and I was loving every second of it until I got about 74% into the book and audibly said "what the fuck" with one of the twist that did not make much sense. I went from Erotic horror to science fiction in less than a second. Once this twist happened, it has lost me. I'm not a big science fiction person and it's kinda a big thing in the book for the ending. If I would of known that I do believe I would of still read this as the story is good, the writing is amazing but that twist right there is what made this a 3 star book when it started as a 5⭐. If you are wanting dark, taboo, degrading check this out but I do causion you it got weird and you can't exactly get back into that dark erotic horror mind set after that point.

If you do decide to read this then please check your trigger warnings!

This was crazyyyyyy. Fast paced, multi povs, spicy, filthy, sci-fi vibes and just so wilddd!!
There are 2 scenes I really can't get out of my head because of how disturbing they were. Any sane person would say these authors need brainsurgery to remove their unholy dark and twisted ideas BUT I am not sane. I loved it. So fucked up good!

This might be really heavy on the erotic horror part but it still had a genius plot that I had a hard time to wrap my head around because it was so unexpected and crazy haha!

Great characters, great plot, written by great authors!

Some scenes were a bit too rushed and unclear where I wished it would've been written out with more details BUT I enjoyed the story so much and it definitely is one of a kind!!

I recommend this to all the crazy people out there who love the most dark and twisted erotic horror stories in existence. Enjoy the wild ride !

I think my brain is broken....lmaoo I've come to realize that I will gladly go down the rabbit hole for anything Isaac and Amity write.

Going Live: Trial by Sin is probably the most taboo, deranged, out-there, mind fuck of a book I think I've ever read, but I loved it. This book is definitely not for the faint of heart, but I think everyone should at least give it a shot.

Does reading this make me feel like I'm a little delulu for not being disgusted or disturbed, definitely. Do I care, abso-fucking-lutely not!! Give me all the triggers, all the taboo, all the unhinged, deranged writing, and I will enjoy Evverry.Single.second of it.

Isaac and Amity have the most imaginative minds and I just sit here awestruck by how they think up all the ideas that they include, not just in Trial by Sin, but every book they write. Whether it's together or individual, I know I'm always in for a wild ride that will have me laughing and gasping during every turn of a page.

Bravo you two..

When I thought I knew what I was getting myself into, I just kept reading and yeah.. there are no words to how absolutely messed up, dark, and INCREDIBLY disturbing this book is.. but did I read the whole thing? I sure did 💀 and will I ever forget it? Absolutely not.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE read the TW for this book. This is not for the faint of heart or for people that are just starting to read erotic horror or psychological thrillers and want something “crazy” to read. This is NOT that book. The whole time I was reading this novel, all I could think about was the banned movie called A Siberian Film and yeah, there really isn’t more to say about that. Haha.

But, If you do ever end up reading this book, which, if you have the stomach to and understand what you are getting yourself into with the triggers, just know that you will NEVER look at a tub, an octopus, or some of your family members the same way ever again 💋

In a good way… what the eff did i read? 😌🤩

This book is sooo depraved in a way that is sick and twisted. It’s the kind of book that makes you question if you’re human for even finishing it. And yet?? I absolutely devoured it like a psycho. 🫠

🚨 It’s like staring at a car crash. You know you should look away, but simply can’t. The violence is Brutal. The manipulation is Next level. The forbidden relationships is…disturbing. I lost count of how many times I was shocked. I need more of this tbh 😅

💀 tropes & chaos ahead:

✔ Forced captivity 🏚️
✔ Psychological torture 🫨
✔ Twisted love 💔
✔ Sibling trauma 🫠
✔ No way out 🚪🚫
✔ You think it can’t get worse? Oh, it does. 🫢

The plot was Insaneeee. The character’s are broken beyond repair. The writing was soooo sooo good 😭💀

If you want something effed up, I recommend this.✌️

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Because my brain is ruined and I will never be the same.

I thought a long time about how I would rate and review this. I enjoyed other books from both authors more, but I set that against what I believe they set out to do here: push the limits of erotic horror, as writers and readers.

It would be easy to dismiss this story as pulp, or slash, or porn. I think the truth is deeper than that. Worse things than the portrayed events happen every day. What happens when ordinary people are given terrible, impossible choices? What decisions do they make, and how do they change as a result? Are others affected? Complicit? Is there a reason for the escalating madness, or is it all pointless debauchery? What would we do, in their place?

I found the pacing rushed in places, and a couple plot twists puzzling, but limits were pushed as promised. Read if you dare!

I'm actually speechless, like, wtf.

Let's start with the twins, Sage and Eden, the FMCs. They're polar opposites of each other, yet they become more and more twisted, until they're so similar.

Then we have Xane, one of the MMCs, who lives a double life; one with a wife and kids, and one with a secret boyfriend.

Finally, we have Ransom, the other MMC. He's depraved, insane, and honestly, disgusting. I loved him. He forces the twins and Xane into increasingly more unhinged trials, pushing them until they break.

I literally cannot say more without spoiling the entire story, but if you're squeamish, this is not for you. There's probably a hundred triggers on this book, so read at your own risk.
However, if you love the unhinged, psychotic ramblings of a mystery man, with layers upon layers of thrills and disgust, this IS for you. Welcome home.

Wow! What did I just read?!?! No seriously, what did I just read?!?! That was by far the most depraved and deliciously disgusting books I have read, and I read some dark books! You cannot go into this blind, so please read the warnings and be sure you can handle this! But if you can, buckle up! You are going for the most wild, far out ride you will ever find yourself on. The plot was very unique, the situations the characters were put in were some of the most creative situations I have read about, and the spice was wild! Not to mention, the twists in this book were mind bending! My jaw was on the floor too many times to count. And there is definitely certain objects, foods, and animals you will not be able to feel comfortable with after this! I might have to read this again just to wrap my mind around all the glorious darkness!

Going Live: Trial by Sin by Amity Grey and Isaac Lotharus

🌟🌟🌟.75

I can think of a couple splatter lovers that may be into this but not a lot. This is MOST definitely extreme horror erotica. It is a trip!

With over 60 triggers this is AN INSANE NOVEL! I was granted the (dis)pleasure of receiving an ARC and I am scarred! 😂

The beginning was chapter after chapter of messed up situations the main characters were put in but by the 50% mark I was invested in the storyline! This is not just shock factor it does have an intriguing storyline with many twists.

I will say there were a few parts and characters introduced that confused me and I had to backtrack a bit. It left me wondering if that was intentional from the authors.

Be right back - I need to bleach my eyes now 😂😂

Thank you for the ARC Amity and Isaac!

The idea of someone controlling others by putting them through trials for the sick pleasure of paying dark web customers is enough to hook me in and holy fuck, is this a twisted tale. I loved seeing these 2 authors I adore with different writing styles come together to create such fuckery & y'all nailed it! It flows and moves fast, jam-packed with plenty of "what-the-fuck" moments to keep you entertained. I did not expect so many storyline twists! My brain is warped from this.

⚠️ Proceed With Caution ⚠️

This book has a trigger warning list longer than a CVS receipt and if you have a weak stomach...turn back now while you still can!

Going Live: Trial By Sin is not going to be for everyone. Please read over the trigger warnings before diving into this pitch black taboo story.

I have to say Going Live: Trial By Sin moves to the top of the list of the most depraved book I have ever read! TBS definitely pushed my limits! These authors wasted no time getting right into the sick and twisted choices these characters would have to make. Trial By Sin is INTENSE and had my stomach doing flips a few times. With that said, these authors are so creative! I thought I had the plot twist figured out (which I partially did), and then the authors were like *But wait! There's so so much more!* That was such a CRAZY, WILD RIDE!!I

I- I've read erotic horrors before, but never like this! And let me be clear, I absolutely loved every tortured and twisted moment of it, I couldn't put the book down. I'll never be the same. 👀

To keep this spoiler free, if you read the TW and decide, "I could handle that," just know you're in for a whole RIDE! These trials are like nothing you've ever known or are expecting!

This book is a 3.75
This is hands down a sick and twisted book. The authors knew what they were doing when they sat and said “how can I shock and disgust the readers” the plot in this book is so gross and down right scary if it were to ever actually play out. Jaw dropping stuff takes place in this read and then it takes a turn. The plot reveal that explains the “why” or “what” behind what was going on was really difficult for me to follow. Luckily for the early readers there was group opened up that allowed for discussions and questions to be answered and I think that was a great idea. However if I was not an advance reader with access to getting that, I would be quite confused as to what was being portrayed.

One word to describe this book...DERANGED!!

Even if you read all the triggers, you still will not be mentally prepared for what you are about to read! Having read Splatterpunk books, I was fine with this book as Splatterpunk is the "extreme" horror genre for the most demented individuals who like to read twisted books and who use horror movies as their lullabies for bedtime like me.

Every time that I thought I read the worse, the next scene would raise the bar higher. Even you reader could not imagine the events that transpired in this book. Let me be clear there is no HEA, only shock and horror. If you love your books to be DARK, then you will want to pick up a copy of this book. Don't say I didn't warn you!

Yes. This whole book is one big what the F. From start to finish it's absolutely insanity and chaos! Some really big surprises and insane (I mean INSANE) plot twists!

Trial By Sin has some of the most unimaginably depraved and horrific situations, but somehow you still can't keep yourself from reading further.

Ransom left me in a constant state of shock to the point where I had to take some time just to be able to word a review!

Imagine the most insane and screwed up situation then multiply that by like a thousand and you might get close to how insane and screwed up some of the situations in this book are.
Yet I still couldn't put it down!

It has been said, but please do take the triggers very seriously because this book is NOT for the faint of heart!

This book is one big menu of TWs and that's what makes this book unique and entertaining. A dark twisted thriller that makes you think not once, twice, not even 10 times, but maybe 100 times on the creativity and if you wanna continue. And guess what, I did continue and enjoyed it a lot.

It has a Taboo Romance and much more darker themes, and each wonderfully written. As an author I understand how difficult it is to write something dark and unhinged and the author has done a wonderful job.

This books takes you on a ride and keeps you on edge and makes you question your sanity and trust me after the ride ends, only thing you’ll remember is how much you enjoyed it.

Wonderful work and entertaining Book. Definitely Recommended to all Dark Romance lovelies.
