Out from under my brother’s thumb, I want only one survive. Falling for my green protector? Definitely not part of the plan.
Elyssa I’ve spent my life under my brother’s iron control. When I finally escape, my goal is deliver the data I stole to the one person I can trust. But fate has other ideas.
An explosion leaves me stranded and surrounded by my brother’s vengeful gang. Desperate, I have no choice but to trust the last male I should—a green-skinned, feral warrior who’s as deadly as he is tempting. Tass claims he’s here to protect me, but the look in his eyes says something far more he wants to claim me.
Tasseloris I’ve got something to prove. As the newbie on the crew—and the one everyone mocks for my green hue—I’m determined to show I’m more than capable. When I’m sent to retrieve a contact carrying vital intel, I know this is my chance.
Then I meet Elyssa.
She’s beautiful, fierce, and entirely mine. Protecting her is no longer a mission—it’s my purpose. To keep her safe, I’ll take on her enemies, beg for help from those who once cast me out, and even harness the powers I’ve long feared to use.
When she’s ripped from my arms, nothing in the universe will stop me from getting her back. Not even fate itself.
This is book four in the Monster Mercenary Mates series. This sci-fi monster romance features one outcast green-skinned warrior with secret powers, a not-so-damsel on the run with trust issues, and a steamy HEA.
Robin O’Connor is an author who loves to write about strong, alien heroes and quirky heroines. She lives with her husband and son along with a couple hundred books (hers, definitely hers) and probably just as many computer parts (her husband’s). Her house therefore probably resembles something like a mad-scientist’s lab on any given day.
She’s always working on at least a half dozen projects at the same time but is never without time to answer questions, write up funny extras or hang out in her group online to speak with her readers.
Tasseloris, or Tass, is a tracker from Viridara Eight. Growing up, he had trouble focusing and concentrating on his skills. His mentor, Master Eryngium, was always finding him lacking. He never finishes his training before he's told to leave. He never received his certificate naming him as a plantist. His mother called him worthless, and he was banished from the planet. He's dead to his mother.
He joined the mercenary crew aboard Captain Asmoded's ship, the Varakartoom. The ship is currently moored on the planet Viridara Six.
The Viridara have twelve planets, numbered one to twelve. Each is as identical to Virdara One as possible. All have the same plants and animals as on the original. They even try to keep the landscape as close as possible to the original.
Brace, the cook on the ship, has received word from an old friend who he hasn't seen in years that she has vital and damaging intel on the crime lord, Jalima. Brace supplied the contact with the coordinates to meet to receive the intel and bring her back to the Varakartoom. He was to go on the mission but dropped out at the last minute.
Tass was to be the leader of this rescue mission. When Brace backed out, they tried to stick him with the human, Thatcher. Only the two men have never gotten along with one another. He finally convinces the Captain that he'd do better by himself. As he approaches the landing coordinates, a surface-to-air missile shoots down his shuttle. He was able to get out through the emergency escape hatch before the crash, but he's wounded.
Elyssa came from what was once a prominent, highly regarded family, then her parents died. She and her older brother, Elpherian, were the last of their line. He has mainly kept her under lock and key in the family home or on his ship. He's never even tried to find her a husband. When he became the head of the family, he turned to a life of crime. At first, she thought it was a feeling of being lost after the deaths of their parents, but she was soon convinced that he was just plain evil.
He'd been the right-hand man to the local crime lord, Jalima. To try to ensure her safety, she copied many of Elpherian's computer files, especially those exposing Jalima's smuggling routes. She's hidden them somewhere on her person, knowing full well they will kill her if they find them.
While tracking her, Tass comes upon a small Entling, a plant life form, that he believes should still be in her pod, especially since he doesn't find her Sire anywhere in the area. He's not sure if she can even understand what he's saying because of her young age. Since Entlings and Sires are plant beings, distantly related to his species, they don't have genders, nor do they normally have names. But this one is covered with pink flowers, so he decides this one is a female. He's not sure if she's lost, stolen, or orphaned. Lore has it that the Sires can speak, but only to their priests. He doesn't know if the Entlings can even speak, although she can make chirping sounds. He tries to name her, but she dislikes all the names until he names her Nelly, in honor of his grandmother. Normally, Entlings never leave their Sacred Grove. With his species, taking an Entling from its planet is a death sentence. Just touching one can lead to severe penalties. But Nelly is not about to be separated from Tass. Although she either can't or won't speak to him, the expressions on her tiny face are very easy to read. Nelly may be tiny, but she's strong! She saves them more than once.
Since meeting Elyssa, Tass realizes he is now able to concentrate on his skills. He can even complete two skills at a time, while the rest of his species have to do them one after another.
Elyssa and Tass find the Sacred Grove where Nelly belongs. Nelly and her Sire originally came from Viridase Eight, like him. The Sire had always thought Tass had gotten a raw deal there. Nelly has always wanted to leave the Sacred Grove and travel. Her Sire agrees that she can stay with Tass and Elyssa. The elder in the Grove files the proper paperwork naming Tass as a freelance plantist and sanctioning from the Sire, allowing Nelly to be under his care and protection. She can now travel anywhere with Tass while searching for her new place to root; that will never happen as she wants to stay with Tass and Elyssa.
Elyssa is concerned about Brace. They'd met many years ago, when he was in Jalim's gladiator stable, and she was under her brother's thumb. They had commiserated over the unfairness of their lives. When he escaped, he left her a way to contact him. Since he hates Jalima, she's certain that he'll want to help her escape, too. He'd always told her that he was going to be a chef at his own restaurant. He's now the chef on the Varakartoom, but he's become even less talkative, and he barely talked before. He tries to stay hidden from everyone by using low lighting and trying to cover his face. Elyssa wonders just what had happened to him, but she's determined not to let him withdraw from her.
Although things are really looking up for Tass, there are still crime lords to deal with...

Gleeful Goblin Review: I've thoroughly enjoyed this series! I love that every book expands this universe and that each of the couples follow similar story beats but that the details are distinct each time.
The setting and species for this book is almost like a space elf meets Ferngully and sentient trees that remind me in the best way of Groot. "Almost, they won out, those doubts and insecurities, but then the Entling mewled again, and my heart felt like it was bursting inside my chest. No, not on my watch. I was helping this little one. An Entling that surely had to be lost, stolen, or worse: orphaned. Metal squeaked as it scraped past rock; the dirt it had sliced partially into buckled and shifted beneath my feet. I had not even felt it when the vines sprouted from my shoulders, but there they were, lifting the metal like I’d envisioned. With a final growling heave, the whole panel came free in my grip, and I flung it away from the Entling. It was a tiny thing when it slipped from the rocks and rose to its full height, and the grateful glow of its green eyes was all the reward I needed. Pink tendrils writhed from a slender waist, almost like a skirt. Green, twig-like legs stuck out from beneath it, and pink flowers bloomed all along its shoulders, chest, and the crown of its head. The Entlings and Sires had no gender—they were plant beings, after all, distant relatives of my own species—yet I wanted to call this one a "she." It was the pink flowers and the dainty, elegant shape. She pointed her narrow chin at me, and a pink tendril elongated, reaching for the thick brown and green vines that had sprouted from my shoulders. Shifting the vine toward her, I watched in wonder as her thin pink one curled around my much more tree-like appendage. Then she pulled, and I ducked my head toward her. Though I was kneeling, she still barely came up to my hip—so tiny and fragile, so young. Her arms were more like several large leaves folded together, but it felt like a tiny hand was cupping my chin, nimble and soft as a breath of air. “Cheeeem?” she said, the sound similar to her earlier distressed mewls but edging toward a true vocalization that mimicked speech. My heart began thundering in my chest. Was it true? Did the Sires indeed master speech when they matured? “You’re safe now,” I whispered. “Where is your pod? Your Sire? You need to find them.” I did not move because I did not want to spook her, but I thought that maybe her large green eyes took on a sadness. She withdrew her tendrils and her hands, growing impossibly small before my eyes. When I backed away and rose to my feet, she seemed as tiny as the grass I walked on. It felt wrong to turn and walk away, to leave her. But there was nothing else I could do. Taking an Entling was considered a heinous crime, as was harming one. A Viridasa civilian wasn’t even allowed to touch one, but I was going to argue that in this case, she had touched me. At the edge of the clearing, I paused and looked back, searching for any sign of the small, pink-hued Entling. She was gone, and she’d left no trace of herself. I hoped that meant she was safe. Turning to the tracks I needed to follow, I continued on my way, and it wasn’t until I’d taken several steps that I noticed the difference in me. My side no longer ached, and not because I’d gone numb from the Haysher. Yanking the bandage from my wound, I stared in amazement. My injury had healed—it was gone."
A takeaway for me from this book is that sometimes the strongest thing you can do is be kind. Our main characters have both had some really rough times in their lives where they feel alone, abandoned, or otherwise isolated. So being able to see them learn to trust and like then love each other was absolutely lovely. 5/5 Stars

Tasseloris (“Tass”) feels his skin prickle and his body senses a threat. Solear had opened his bunkroom door and was staring at him with definite predator vibes. Solear’s twin usually keeps him under control, but he was off with his mate and not available. He asked Solear what he wanted and got no response, as expected. When he entered the room, he knocked hand-drawn maps off the wall and showed interest in the one where his twin brother had found his mate. Tass told him he could have the two maps, which Solear rolled up and took. To Tass’ surprise, Solear bared his teeth, snarled, and hissed out “thanks”. Then he tossed things Tass had packed for his mission and added other things, including something he pulled from his own pocket. Then he turned and walked out. Was he trying to make friends? Racing to his shuttle, two dark figures stood in front and he again felt a threat. His mission was to locate their contact, bring them and their intel on Jalima back here. Were they here to protect him on this mission? Or did they think he would fail? When he heard Thatcher would go with him, he refused and surprisingly Sineater, the second in command, dismissed Thatcher and Tass proceeded on the mission.
Elyssa has finally escaped her controlling brother and she is hoping to get the stolen data to someone she can trust, Brace, not knowing he had backed out at the last minute and only Tass was coming. But she had been followed and a surface-to-air missile was being rolled out of the trees into the clearing as her dead brother’s gang started closing in. Then she saw a shuttled approaching over the trees as the males with the missile launched it at the shuttle. The explosion knocked her head against a tree and the wrecked shuttle crashed nearby. She had to escape with her stolen information while her enemies approached the shuttle to kill whoever may have survived. She would get this information into the hands of as many media outlets as she could… if she could find her way out of these dark woods! But the sound of voices behind her told her she had failed. Rather than give up, she ran. Seeing a huge rock landmark, she remembered something about a creature that lived in the caves; but it focused her exhausted mind… or were they herding her there, right into a dead-end? Surrounded now, she was trapped and fired her laser as the leader just for spite. But when a green creature arrives to save her, Elyssa has to make a quick decision as to whether she can trust the stranger with her invaluable information. And how will Tass respond to finding his mate?
This was a such a great romantic adventure!!!! Perfectly balanced with both!!!!
Tass is a supposedly ‘failed’ plantist Virdara working as a mercenary aboard the Varakartoom, who has been tasked with a mission to liaison on the surface of Viridara 6, a mimicked version of his home planet, with someone who has information about a local crime lord that Tass’s captain has a beef with. Tass didn’t know who he is meeting and unfortunately his shuttle is shot out of the sky on decent. Due to his heritage and his training and preparedness he is able to eject and survive in the jungle… and so he starts tracking who shot him down on his way to meet his contact in the forest.
Elyssa is Elrohiran, and has been a captive of her brother, who worked for Jalima (the crime lord in question), since her parents died when she was young. After her abuse at the hands of her brother, when he passed she gathered evidence against Jalima and contacted an old friend, Brace, who happens to be a part of the Varakartoom crew. She is expecting to meet Brace in the jungle on Viridara 6 when she sees a shuttle explosion in the sky and then is apprehended by Jalima’s men.
She has little hope, thinking that Brace is dead in the crash…but is determined to continue resisting Jalima’s men and refuses to give them the information.
Tass quickly locates Elyssa and realizes that she is his mate!!! Elyssa however is jaded and has trouble trusting Tass… Tass fights the criminals and a chase ensues through the jungle. Tass quickly realizes he has much more control over his plantist powers than he ever has had before and uses those to manipulate the plants and earth to save his mate and kill the criminals…
This alien space romantic adventure has it all, lots of fighting scenes, lots of sexy times as Elyssa and Tass grow close…we get to meet an Entling (squeee🥰🤗🥰) see a grove…there is lots of suspense and action…it’s all there!!! There is a HEART, the writing is awesome and even though I was being introduced to all these new species and worlds Robin wrote it in such a way that it wasn’t too confusing🤗
I absolutely adored Elyssa and Tass together, both had really been made to feel alone, Tass had gotten a sort of family with the crew of the Varakartoom but Elyssa had nobody. This is a beautiful story about finding your people, and finding your home. It’s really sweet🥰.

All that glitters is gold or maybe something better!
Entangled by the Alien Mercenary is book 4 in the Monster Mercenary Mates series. This can be read as a standalone book however this is such an interesting and creative world that I recommend starting from the beginning! Below, I even put my reading order recommendation for Robin’s other series’ that all revolve in this same world. None of them should be missed!
Entangled by the Alien Mercenary is another exciting book about the madness and antics that surrounds the mercenaries of the Varakartoom! These bad boys never disappoint and the women who they captured their hearts are as badazz as they are!
Fierce, but sweet and insecure, Tass comes into his own when he goes off ship to complete a mission and unexpectedly finds his fated mate. Elyssa is a feisty and determined female who will stop at nothing to stop the antagonist who has tormented her and finally feel safe and loved. I adore how Robin often works a critter character into her books and Nelly is such a sweet one with her clever antics and devotion to her new friends. There is tons of action, adventure and mayhem to enjoy and plenty of spice to kick up the heat!
There are so many other mysterious and unusual members of the Varakartoom crew and I cannot wait for another book in this series to get to know them all!
I love a good series and a spin off series and reading in order is important to me so there are no spoilers along the way, and if you do too and want more of this fascinating world, this is my reading order recommendation. They all make for an amazing binge read! 1. Prequel novella, Gladiator’s Sanctuary, I received this for free on Robin’s website. 2. The Gladiators of the Vagabond series; read in order. 3. Two holiday themed novellas; There’s An Alien Down My Chimney and There’s An Elf In My Cockpit. 4. Taken by the Gargoyle King; a novella related to the Gladiators series. 5. The Naga Hunter’s Lost Mate; prequel to the Serpents of Serant series, I got this on Robin’s website too. 6. The Serpents of Serant series; read in order. 7. Protected by the Alien Mercenary; is part of the My Monster, My Protector series but feels like an introduction to Robin’s Monster Mercenary Mates series. 8. The Monster Mercenary Mates series; read in order!
Tasseloris is a Viridara male and part of a crew who on Viridara Three. He's preparing for his scouting mission. Solear has come to "visit" but he is intimidating and Tasseloris has his hackles raised. He is leery of the huge male but watches as he sees he's taken with the maps he's drawn. So he gives them to him. To his surprise the huge male helps him pack. When he gets to the shuttle he finds he's to have a back up. He stands up to his superior officer and tells him he doesn't need one. He wins and he's on his way alone. Elyssa is one of the last of a once prestigious and important Elrohirian line. Now here she is alone hiding. She has info on a crimelord who had hurt her friend who is now trying to help her escape. She's on Viridasa Six waiting and hoping for her contact to rescue her. But she watches as the group who are after her fires a rocket at a shuttle. The she runs. She's followed and pinned down in a dead end. Meanwhile Tasseloris or Tass has ejected and is gliding down to the earth. He will find the ones who did this and make sure he takes them all out. He manages to rescue a little Entling. Then he heads out to find who tried to kill him. He finds them in the midst of fighing a Takchaw. In the midst of the fight he sees a female and realizes she is his mate. The next morning he sets out to find his mate and rescue her. During his journey he comes across the little Entling again. She gives him a flower then he leaves only when he looks back occasionally he sees her. He finds them and rescues his mate. He takes her to a cave and they talk once she wakes. She tells him what she told the others who held her captive. He has no objection just saying when his crew finds them it will be ok. He will keep her safe. Silly her she believes him, a female who's been lied to and held captive for a long time. Will she be able to finally trust him? Will he keep her safe? Why? A fascinating story in this series.

After her controlling brother's death, Elyssa stole some sensitive information and has been on the run ever since. She's finally made it to the rendezvous site, when the transport carrying her contact is shot down, leaving her at the mercy of her brother's remaining gang members. When a green, somewhat feral mercenary with plant-like powers shows up to save her, Elyssa has to decide if she can trust anyone with the information she stole.
Tess struggles with feelings of inadequacy after his family kicked him out for not being a successful plantist. He's still fairly new to the Varakartoom and he sees his mission as a chance to prove himself. With his tracking abilities and his newly awakened plantist skills, he's in his element hunting down the gang members that shot him down. When he realizes that Elyssa is his mate, he does all that he can to rescue her.
Tess largely steals the show in this book. His plant abilities and his past make for an interesting read. His culture and spiritual beliefs about Entlings and Sires make for an interesting facet to his behavior and history, giving the story more depth. Unfortunately, Elyssa doesn't have much of a personality, and her past and culture is largely glossed over. She also seems to instantly know a lot about Tess's past and emotions, despite spending the beginning part of the book unsure of his intentions. Her insight might be due to their mating relationship, however the mate bond is only slightly described and exactly what it means for Tess and Elyssa is never fully explored. It would have been nice if what matehood means for both Tess's and Elyssa's people was further described, as it would have give a background for the changes they suddenly experience.
That being said, Tess was a delightful protagonist and his exploits bumped this read to a four star reading.

4.75 stars. Tass(eloris), the male plant-connected humanoid lead, joined the mercenary space crew two years ago, but he still feels that they regard him as inexperienced. Offered the opportunity to retrieve valuable information on one of his home worlds, he seizes the chance to prove his worth.
Elyssa, the female humanoid lead, has successfully escaped with information regarding her now-dead brother’s crimelord boss. With the crimelord’s people tracking her, she’s desperate to get to her one childhood friend and find a way to use the information. About to meet up with her friend, she’s terrified to find that the crimelord’s men have nearly caught her when they shoot a shuttle out of the sky. When they catch her, Elyssa bluffs that she’s hidden the information so they don’t kill her.
Shot out of the sky, Tass is very unimpressed. But when he hears Elyssa scream, he rushes to her rescue. Caught as well, they work to escape and get back to Tass’ ship and crew, hustling through jungle in a variety of circumstances and with a cute sentient companion to assist. But the jungle is also very dangerous…
This story is dual POV, well written, and a steamy, action filled adventure, sci fi fated mates romance. I enjoyed Tass’ bemusement at finding his mate in the midst of a difficult situation. I enjoyed his determination to save her. I enjoyed Elyssa’s resilience, given her history of abuse, and her determination to escape and make a difference. I enjoyed the sentient companion and the relationship developed between companion and lead characters. I enjoyed the steamy intimate scenes. I enjoyed the found family Tass was part of, and the integrated secondary characters. I’m enjoying the background character development in this series, and the overarching plot and eagerly waiting for more!
I received a complimentary copy from the author and this is my voluntary honest review.
Entangled by the Alien Mercenary by Robin O’Connor Monster Mercenary Mates # 4
When life becomes “too much” I like to slip into another world and an alien world is all the better because though the inhabitants are relatable, they are also “otherworldly” and often a lot of fun…unless they are the bad guys ;)
What I liked: * Tasseloris or “Tass” for short: Viridara, alien, in tune with the earth and plants – a “plantist”, turned out by his mother, strong, lethal, protective, loyal, drawn to his mate – Elyssa * Elyssa: Elrohiran, alien, human in appearance, orphan, abusive controlling brother dead, chased by crime lord’s henchmen, on way to safety, encounters Tass and her life changes big time * Nelly: entling, nearly immortal, will grow into a Sire, seedling-sapling attributes, bright, loyal, will grow into something special, has wanderlust, wonder if we will find out where she will “root” * Brace: Elyssa’s friend since childhood, ex-gladiator, Varakartoom chef, reclusive, perhaps scarred, would like to find out who he will end up with * Getting to see and hear about some of the other characters from previous books * The intriguing look at another planet and how different it was from others visited so far * Cyperus: Plantist, older than many, friend of the Sire, wise, caring, helpful * Nelly’s Sire: knew Tass when he was studying to become a plantist, relocated at some point from original planet, intriguing * That I felt invested in the characters and was rooting for them to have their happily ever after * All of it really except…
What I didn’t like: * Who and what I was meant not to like * Thinking about people that enjoy being evil and work for corrupt higher-ups
Did I enjoy this book? Yes Would I read more by this author? Definitely
Thank you to the author and Bookfunnel for the ARC – This is my honest review.
This was a wonderful addition to the Monster Mercenary Mates series filled with action, adventure and of course, the inevitable mayhem. Tasseloris (Tass) is the newest member of the Varakartoom and is determined to prove his usefulness to the team. He takes on a solo mission to meet up with a contact of Brace’s (the reclusive chef) to retrieve information about the warlord Jamila.
Elyssa is on the run. After being controlled by her brother her entire life, she had hoped she would be free when he was killed. Determined to remain free she has secreted away information about the evil Warlord hoping to exchange it for protection. When her contact is shot out of the sky, she is captured, and Tass ends up saving her. He instantly recognises her as his mate and is determined to save her.
This was a sweet, but action filled romance. Tass and Elyssa have spent their lives being overlooked and are cautious with trusting each other. I really enjoyed how Tass accepted Elyssa’s need for control and waited for her to trust him without pushing the issue. There is a cute new ‘sidekick’ Nelly who is very protective of her new friends. The mercenaries and their mates are as uncontrollable (and hilarious) as usual. I loved watching Solear attempting to make new friends.
This is book 4 in the series and could be read as a standalone, however it would be better enjoyed read in series order. The author has created an amazing universe with complex characters with further development in each book. There is an overarching storyline that will continue in the next book. I can’t wait to read it 😊
wow this one was fantastic. tass is a member of a planet type alien world where they connect with the earth of their planets and everything in nature but he didn't pass his test to be a plantist so leaves the world to join the mercenary ship the varakartoom when his mother disowns him. Elyssa is a different species compatible with tass's kind who escapes from her brothers prison after he is killed with some valuable info. when she tries to meet with her contact the shuttle suffers an attack and tass not the contact she was expecting survives. together they must outwit and outrun the enemies tracking them and survive until rescue comes. fantastically written story line with plot twists and turns that grab you and won't let go. all intricately woven together with rich detail to give u a wonderful reading experience with emotional highs and lows, shared trauma bonding, learning to trust, working as a team, finding your strength in the face of great difficulty, challenges, self acceptance and more with lots of spice thrown in. with wonderful side characters that enhances the story and also one that makes u laugh, sigh, and smile. a great addition to the story that really makes the story go that extra to be truly a great book. in the midst of all the danger love is found and blooms and true strength of character is discovered from deep inside oneself when there is no other choice but to fight for survival. beautifully written and gripping story i would highly recommend. I received an arc copy from book sirens and this is my honest voluntary review.
Entangled by the Alien Mercenary is a standalone sci fi romance by Robin O'Connor, and is the fourth book of the Monster Mercenary Mates series.
Tass, short for Tasseloris, is a mercenary with a bit of a chip on his shoulder. As one of the newest members of the alien mercenary crew, he feels the need to prove himself as an equal. He also feels that chip on his shoulder with his connection to nature and his strange, even to alien standards, green skin. He's an interesting mix of uncertainty, sweetness, and pure strength and determination. He's an intriguing alpha male character, who I completely fell in love with. He's certainly where he belongs and fits in, but there is an inner purity that is just wonderful and just what his mate needs.
Elyssa is in danger, but she has gained some important information that she needs to pass on and somehow get out of her homelands alive. She has the strength, determination and grit that is equal to Tass. They definitely don't get along straightaway, but their circumstances makes them work together in such a way that we get a wonderful character development, a great emotional connection and a love that feels genuine outside of the mating bond.
I really enjoy this series and look forward to more.

The fourth book in the Monster Mercenary Mates series, Entangled by the Alien Mercenary is another entertaining sci-fi romance from author Robin O’Connor. This one follows Elyssa an Elrohirian trying to escape from Viridasa six with Intel on criminal Jalima that could bring down his whole organization. Tasseloris/Tass has been sent down from his ship the Varakartoom on a mission to retrieve the contact and the Intel. Things go wrong quickly when Jalima’s cohort’s shoot his shuttle down as Elyssa watches from hiding, thinking she has caused the death of Brace, a friend from her past who was coming to get her off planet. It soon becomes Tasseloris’ purpose in life to rescue Elyssa who is now prisoner of the criminals and once they lock eyes with each other he realizes he has just found his mate. The adventure begins as Tass goes on the hunt through the jungle of Viridasa, not waiting for backup help from his ship. I enjoyed this story which was wonderfully written with likable lead characters, including the cute little friend Tass picks up along the way. There is plenty of action, mate bonding, intrigue, personal vulnerabilities, and spiciest of spice keeping the storyline going at full speed along with it’s excellent world building. Perfect immersive read!.

Independent reviewer for BookSirens, I was gifted my copy of this book.
This is book 4 in the Monster Mercenary Mates series, and I do recommend you read the other books first. It will give you a better picture of this group of men and their partners, as they find them.
I'm loving these books, I really am!
They are solid and steady, and keep falling in my queue just when I need a relatively easy, uncomplicated read.
What I liked most about this one, was that Tass and Elyssa spend much of the book on their own, away from the ship and other crew members. It gives you a bit longer getting to know THOSE two, without everyone else butting in!
I was a bit confused by what Tass was supposed to have done or not done, while he was training for him to fail. Maybe I missed it, I dunno. It's not really an issue, just needs mentioning, is all! My book brain does like to ask questions, you know!
Now, obviously, Elyssa knows Brace, the ship's cook. But Brace hides himself away from everyone, even Elyssa who knew him from before. So, I want Brace next! I want to know what he is hiding and more importantly, why. Also, Soleur. He is trying, bless him, to be a little less feral and I really hope he gets a book soon!
Elyssa (h) has spent months looking over her shoulder, carrying the one thing that could destroy a powerful crimelord. Betrayed, hunted, and out of options, she turns to an old friend for help, only to witness a mercenary’s shuttle shot down before her contact can arrive. When the wreckage brings Tasseloris (H) crashing into her path, she quickly realizes he’s more than just a soldier. He’s lethal, determined, and infuriatingly protective. But can she trust him? Tass didn’t expect his mission to turn into a fight for survival, nor did he expect to find his fated mate in the middle of it. But Elyssa is more than a fugitive, she’s his. And that means he’ll do whatever it takes to keep her safe, even if it means facing the jungle’s deadliest threats, mercenaries on his tail, and a past he thought he left behind. Stranded on a hostile planet with enemies closing in, Tass and Elyssa have no choice but to trust each other. But as secrets unravel and their bond deepens, the danger only grows. Because survival isn’t just about outrunning their pursuers—it’s about risking everything for a future worth fighting for. A steamy, high-stakes, alien fated mates, sci-fi romance packed with action, danger, and a love that refuses to be conquered.
This installment of the Varakartoom! Alien Mercenaries series was such a fun and engaging read. The story centers on a mission that already goes a bit sideways from the start: instead of the female main character delivering important data directly to Brace, the chef aboard the Varakartoom, Tessaloris—a plantist—is sent in her place. From there, the story unfolds on a lush alien plant planet that adds a wonderfully vivid and unique backdrop. The romance is high on tension and leans into a very sweet fated mates dynamic. Despite the danger and uncertainty of the mission, the emotional connection develops naturally and keeps the pages turning. The balance between action, tension, and romance works really well in this installment. And then there’s the little entling—hands down the cutest and most delightful sidekick imaginable. It adds warmth, charm, and a bit of lightheartedness to the story, and honestly steals every scene it’s in. Overall, this was a strong and enjoyable addition to the series, especially if you like alien worlds, fated mates romance, and memorable side characters. A definite recommendation for fans of the Varakartoom! universe.

Tasseloris goes on a scout and retrieval mission. This mission was supposed to be a quick in and out mission. Big surprise to him he meets his mate and she is the retrieval part of the mission. Elyssa was shocked to have this viral, sexy alien come in like a tornado to rescue her from her captures who are trying to get the vital piece of information she has stolen from her brother. There is an instant attraction between the two the minute their eyes meet and there is something about this guy who gets right to her. I was at the edge of my seat all the way through this book. Tass as a character was unlike any I had every read and I loved all the different aspects of his abilities and so well written I felt like I was there watching as things unfolded. The chemistry between the couple was so sweet and fun to read and of course the add on's that this author added which I will not spoil as I found it was such a cute and endearing part of the story. I highly recommend this whole series. This latest book has just added more to this ongoing story and I cannot wait till the next ones are done. This is a definite must read and hang on and enjoy the ride!!!!
When his shuttle is shot out of the sky on his way to meet an anonymous contact for secret information, Tass takes offense and becomes a one-man army against the group who fired. Elyssa, the contact Tass is trying to meet, is on the run from the same group, and they find her just before Tass joins the fray. When Tass sees Elyssa, he knows she's his mate, but he has to fight for both their freedoms before he can do anything about it. Their journey leads them to a sacred grove, where Tass receives a gift, and he and Elyssa start making their way to the rescue crew. The enemies are not far, and Tass gets Elyssa to safety before facing them head on. Elyssa is determined to save her mate, and not even the fearsome crew of the Varakartoom is going to stop her.
These fun adventures are the perfect snack sized bite of escape I've been desperately craving. Tass and Elyssa are on the run, but they make the most of their situation. I love how he finally proved himself, but the only opinion he cares about is hers. Elyssa was ready to forsake everything to share her stolen data, but getting to know Tass and becoming his everything was an added bonus. Their story was quite the adventure!
Entangled by the Alien Mercenary is quite suspenseful and definitely a page turning alien romance. I thought this book to be quite captivating from beginning to end, entertaining and an enjoyable read. This story is beautifully written, well balanced and perfectly executed by Robin O’Connor. Robin O’Connor continues to show what a phenomenal author she is with each book I’ve read by her so far. I’m always looking forward to reading Robin O’Connor’s work because I absolutely enjoy reading the stories. Entangled by the Alien Mercenary follows the adventures of Tasseloris and Elyssa. I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know both of these characters as well as witnessing their story come to life through the pages. The chemistry between Tasseloris and Elyssa is absolutely fascinating and undeniably irresistible. I would certainly encourage other readers to checkout this amazing alien romance and give it a read.

This is an enthralling romantic adventure, with nonstop action, romance, humour and steam. Robin O'Connor is great at world building and at creating original characters;Tasseloris is one such character, along with other beings from his planet. He is called a plantist, and he has a lot of characteristics of plants, like growing vines and sails, amongst other things. Tass is one of the mercenaries from the Varakartoom. He is sent planetside to meet an Elrohirian named Elyssa, so she can give him valuable information about a crimelord. She has been badly treated by her now-dead brother and does not trust anyone, so it takes her a long time to trust Tass and accept that he's her mate and has only her safety in mind. The two of them must survive in a jungle filled with dangers. Along the way, they pick up the cutest little Entling, who you just can't help but love. This is another great book in a wonderful series. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Elyssa is trying to escape from Viridasa six. She has intel information on Jalima, that would expose the organization. This information will destroy the organization. Tasselloris is assigned with a mission, but his ship is shot down. He rescues Elyssa from other aliens. Tass keeps her sheltered, and protects her. A flower being attaches itself to Tass. He names her Nelly. Nelly is intelligent, and helpful in their mission. Tass, and Elyssa have to travel through the jungle to safety. They face dangers, and other aliens. Tass realizes that Elyssa is is mate. Elyssa learns to trust Tass as they face everything together. The storyline flowed well. The story unfolds with elements of danger, fighting, and passion. The characters were well developed, and likeable. I enjoyed reading this book!!!!.

This is becoming one of my favorite series. I love the uniqueness of each story. I like that previous characters are helpful, and we get to learn more about each of them (in a small way) . After all this story is about Tass and Elyssa. I liked that in a way their backgrounds are the same yet totally different.
I liked both of them , the chemistry was off the charts.
Tass' abilities were fun read about. Very helpful as well. He was a true warrior, and very protective of his two girls.
I also liked Elyssa. She was determined to get the mission completed . I loved her trying to help .
Nelly was a fresh breath of air. She was full of surprises. Always there to help.
Very well written and the plot was well thought out.
POV of each. Action and suspense was intense. And of course the HEA was epic.
Who will be next to find what fate has in store for them. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

The fourth book in the Monster Mercenary Mates series is a standout—and not just because it shakes up the formula. This is the first installment where the FMC, Elyssa, is not human, and that shift adds a refreshing depth to both the story and the emotional stakes.
I absolutely loved the MMC, Tasso (Tasseloris). He’s strong, grounded, and quietly compelling, with a depth that unfolds beautifully as the story progresses.
Following a devastating explosion, Elyssa and Tasso find themselves stranded—forced to survive while also confronting deeply personal issues that exist independently of their growing connection. I really appreciated that their individual struggles weren’t instantly solved by romance. Instead, their bond develops alongside personal growth, making the relationship feel earned rather than rushed.
Another wonderful Varakartoom crewmate (Tasselorian, a plant-connected alien) finds his fated mate in Elyssa, a young humanoid alien who’s been ill-used by her criminal brother and his unsavory associates.
Elyssa is understandably wary of Tass’s willingness to help her when no one else has ever done so. Likewise Tass’s insecurities that stemmed from his inability to connect with his innate gifts as a young man are overcome by his breakthrough as he endeavors to rescue and protect Elyssa. The addition of a tiny, childlike but immensely powerful sentient flower being (Nelly) as a sidekick and assistant is adorable and sweet, and the perfect vehicle to help convince Elyssa to put her trust in Tass.
I was fortunate to have been provided an advance reader copy from the author and Booksprout, and I’m sharing my honest review.
Entangled by the Alien Mercenary by Robin O’Conner is book 4 of the Monster Mercenary Mates series. Tass is a plant based species who has always felt inadequate as he couldn’t pass his plantist trial. As a part of the motley crew of the Varakartoom. He is sent to his home planet to retrieve an asset with proof against the local cartel, but his craft is obliterated seconds after he ejects. He finds the asset who turns out to be the sister of a dead cartel member, but they have to fight off other members after the info Elyssa has. In the meantime, they meet some of his former plantist teachers who certify that he has mastered the necessary skills to become a plantist himself. Oh, and he finds a cute plant side kick, too! Love this series where we meet lots of different new species!.

The jungle fight scenes were intense, and I loved how the fierce little Nelly stepped up to help Tass—such a dynamic duo! There’s one character I’m secretly rooting for to find his mate: Solear. His character really tugged at my heartstrings. He deserves to have his own happy-ever-after.
My god! The rescue mission?! was edge-of-your-seat thrilling, and I absolutely love a book that delivers a perfect balance of action and emotional depth. The Varakartoom crew is diverse and crazy; i love how they portray the meaning of loyalty and found family.
One of the most heartwarming moments was Elyssa receiving her new medallion for her new clan and family. It was like a kind of warm hug scene. I really love it. While I do enjoy a good spicy scene in books, these heartfelt moments are what truly stand out for me.

Outstanding the creative mind of Robin O'Connor ,her characters are unique, charismatic and original and after all her books still.keeps me in awe. Since I've read her 1st book, I was swept away into this amazing universe. And this book was no diferent, very well written with a intense plot, full of new elements and action packed, a detailed world building and unique characters. Not even going to summarize because you really have to dive into this story. A very special mention to Nelly ,Tass's companion. She's an Entling or a plant girl and she's the star of this book. She's the cuttest thing ever.Go and check her because Robin has artwork of her! Highly recomend!.

This is another exciting read for the series and I loved Tass. He was a great mix of being uncertain, sweet, and yet, strong and determined. Elyssa is fierce and determined, as well, but they sure don't get along when they first meet ;) These two are fated mates but they're surrounded by danger and baddies and have to work together to survive...and get their HEA ;D Expect fab character growth, strong emotions, adventure, danger and spice when you lose yourself in this one. It can be read as a stand alone but the series is so great, it's best to start in the beginning to get all the world building and full cast of characters for the best reading experience. I'm looking forward to more books set in this world :D
Back for another wonderful adventure with the crew of the Varakhartoom. Tass, apparently is a “failed” plantist from Virdara, is assigned to pick up an informant on Viridara 6. When his shuttle is shot down he goes on the hunt through the jungle to find the informant. Elyssa has vital information that can bring down a crime lord in return for her safety and freedom. Captured after seeing her rendezvous shot from the sky, she has little hope. I enjoyed as Tass comes into his powers, the growth of trust, mate bonding, action/adventure, the sweet new little friend, the passion and of course the world building was fascinating. Great read to fall into!

I'm truly enjoying Robin O'Connor’s “Monster Mercenary Mates” series. It's similar to her original “Gladiators” series that I enjoyed so much.
This particular story has a lot of action, and the two main characters face obstacle after obstacle. Amidst the fighting, the turmoil, and running for her life through a jungle on an alien planet, the female main character learns that she doesn't have to distrust everyone–she can trust her instincts and trust the male who keeps saving her.
Then there's Nelly… an entling. So cute! I'm certain that you'll fall in love with her as quickly as the two main characters did. ❤️
Surprisingly, there's a supporting character, Solear, who appears in a couple of scenes in the story and caught my attention. I can't wait until Solear gets his own story–I can't wait to see more of him.
