This was a wonderful intro to a new world and a whole new set of characters! I loved the blend of cowboys, firefighters, city girls WITH romantic suspense. I feel like Amanda nailed it here. We meet Crew Lawless (his brother is in the Vine series) and Aspen McKay. Aspen is a PI in town investigating a string of unsolved murders. Crew is a local firefighter. They have INSTANT chemistry, but what I appreciated most about these two was the BUILD UP! Yall it was pretty glorious. I appreciated that they became friends. They didn't jump into something because I think they both recognized how serious it could be. But because they waited and let things build it almost seemed like they were already together when they finally got together. Amanda I see you with these spicy scenes- we jumped up a level in this one, and I was here for it. I appreciated how these two made each other stronger. How they supported each other.

Aspen is on the hunt for a killer who has been eluding police for years. An arsonist at that. She finds herself in a small town immediately being shut out because she isn't a local. But Crew the firefighter captain feels different. He makes her feels things she hasn't felt in a while, and she doesn't even know him! But then she is a victim of this killer- she survives the attack and is now supposed to stay in town much longer than anticipated. She finds herself moving in with Crew. She finds herself drawn to this man who wants to protect her but knows she can protect herself. She finds herself liking living here in this small town. But she has to remember that she is leaving when this case finishes. She slowly starts to find more and more breadcrumbs with the help of Crew's brother (who happens to be the sheriff). And when things crack open, she hopes she is wrong about who it could be. But when Crew goes missing she knows she can't be wrong. She hopes she finds him before it is too late because she has realized she can't live without him.

Crew is going about his business with work and life when he is knocked off of his feet by a stranger to his small town. Aspen. A PI in town looking into the Prom Night Arsonist. She is feisty, and he finds himself immediately intrigued. When she is hurt, he finds himself wanting to protect her. He wants to provide for her. He wants to help her get back on her feet while also giving her space to do so. He realizes he is playing the long game. Somehow he has already decided that she is his and he is hers. He just needs to give her time to catch up. And so he does that. He brings her into the fold that is his life all while letting her get adjusted. Their chemistry is unreal and when they finally explore it together, it is unlike anything he has felt before. But he has to remind himself she thinks she is on a deadline. And as she gets closer to finding the killer, he hopes everything they have shared means as much to her as it does to him. Because she is now he is everything.

I really enjoyed the suspense in this one. I liked meeting all of Crew's family and learning more about them. I can't WAIT to see/meet who they fall for. Please pretty please give Wyatt and Trey their story!! I always love a good HEA and we really got that with this one. They had to work at it a bit. They were both alphas in a way, but they figured out how to navigate it together and were better for it. I definitely recommend this one if you want a fast read with a little bit of everything in it :)

Thank you to Love Notes PR and Amanda for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!

romantic suspense x firefighter x forced proximity

A romantic suspense where the FMC is investigating the crime and is targeted by the unsub and the MMC rescues her. I didn’t expect her to be targeted so early on in the book but it added a different layer to the story as she was a victim as well as an investigator. It’s easy to read and a good palate cleanser!

Read this if you’re in the mood for…
- instant attraction
- romantic suspense
- fire fighter
- forced proximity

Overall I enjoyed the story! The characters are easy to like and root for and the plot keeps you interested and wanting to figure out what’s going on. Sometimes I was frustrated by their choices (ie the FMC getting letters on her car and threatening emails and not telling anyone….) but it’s easy to ignore and just enjoy the book as is!

Here are a few of my favorite things…
- his team teasing him about how gone he was
- he cooks dinner? Immediately yes
- the immediate anger at his brothers anytime they exist around her

I would recommend!

This book manages to balance both romance and mystery well, and fans of small-town romantic suspense should definitely add this to their TBR.

A firefighter and private investigator trying to solve the case of a serial killer who's been murdering girls on prom night for the last 40 years and throw in a bunch of hot older siblings and boy, have you got me intrigued.

The plot had me hooked early on, and while I was able to guess in the general vicinity of who the killer might be, the book holds back just enough critical information that the final reveal still feels like a twist. Not the most satisfying pay-off but I still enjoyed it.

The pacing was steady throughout which I did enjoy but if you prefer a fast-paced mystery that keeps you on the edge of your seat, this may be a touch slow at times for you. For me, it allowed us time to get know the characters and the town which added depth to the unfolding investigation.

The romance was cute and the two main characters had a lot of chemistry! It did lean a little into the insta-love territory for me but didn't feel out of place in the context of the story. If I'm honest, while I loved little Crew I'm definitely more interested in getting to know his older siblings!

I think fans of Indigo Ridge by Devney Perry would enjoy this book!

Oh I loved this one. It was for me, a perfect romantic suspense. Swoony, brave and hot hero, badass and smart and capable heroine. Great plot and excellent pacing. Big family dynamic and set ups for more books. Fun banter and excellent spicy scenes. Loved the build up of their relationship. It felt like they were instantly attracted to each other, but at the same time let a friendship of sorts form while that attraction simmered. No stupid decisions or reckless behavior, reliance on, and trust in others. Healthy communication. Just fabulous!! This was my first book by this author and I can’t wait for more in this series.

I don’t compare authors, that’s not fair BUT if you like Catherine Cowles (I adore her works), I think you’ll love this book too. It has the same romantic suspense vibes but is totally fresh and stands out on its own, with a bit more grit and spice.

unfortunately, this was one of those books i should’ve dnf-ed but i let myself get too far into it hoping it would get better. apparently, i am in the minority here and everyone else seems to have enjoyed it! but this was just not fun for me. the main characters didn’t seem to have any real non-sexual chemistry, and the dialogue was incredibly cringey most of the time. the character’s inner dialogue is almost over-explained, but somehow at the same time, a lot of their traumas and things that should be discussed are just glazed over. also, there was a mystery aspect to this that kept me interested for a little bit, but it’s a waste of time to guess what character is the suspect because it’s not one we know anything about until everyone in the story has figured it out.

thank you to love notes pr for this ARC!!

"Fire Fight" by Amanda Chaperon is a steamy romantic suspense novel with two good protagonists, some solid thrills, and a great found family element. I enjoyed reading the story of Aspen (a private investigator that's a little too invested in her lastest case) and Crew (a tattooed former bad boy firefighter). It's a liiiiiiiittle insta-lovey for me at the jump, but as the story goes on, their relationship becomes more than surface-level via a slow-burning romance, and there is no doubt about their connection at the book's end. I did think their nicknames were a little silly, though. When I first started reading, I found a lot of similarities between this and "All the Missing Pieces" by Catherine Cowles, but it quickly shifts into its own story, one full of investigating and lots and lots of spice. I found myself enthralled by the crime aspect. I was constantly left questioning who the Prom Night Arsonist was, and I was continuously waiting for Aspen and Crew to save each other (in more ways than one). I think the end is tidy enough without being so far out of left field that you're left saying w-t-h? There's not much I didn't like about this, maybe it was a tad too long/repetitive in some places. A few details could have been ironed out a little more. There is a trait about Crew that gets thrown in at one point that almost feels like an afterthought in an attempt to make the book spicier. I didn't think it was necessary, but oh well. Overall, there is a lot to like about this book, and though it is different from Chaperon's other novels, I think readers are going to love the rest of this series!

Thank you to Amanda Chaperon and Love Notes PR for the complimentary ARC of this book. All opinions are my own. I was not compensated for this review.

I love a good romantic suspense and I’m glad I decided to give this one a go! It had the perfect balance between romance and suspense, kept me guessing who the villain was, had that wonderful small town feel to it, lovable side characters and lots of hot alpha men. Throw in some scorching spice and I’m a happy girl! I loved Crew and Aspen together. Both with traumatic pasts, both fierce and strong, both passionate and caring. I had a hard time putting this down and can’t wait to read the next book in the series!

Safety:
- No OW
- OM: H’s brother makes a pass at h. h rejects him and H doesn’t talk to his brother for a while.
- No cheating
- No separation / no third act break up
- Deals with loss of sibling, loss of parent and drug addiction.

Y’all… when I tell you I had the privilege of being an ARC reader for this book, I had the absolute PRIVILEGE.

This book is what I like to call a ✨romystery✨ aka everything I love wrapped up into one. The story follows a private investigator, Aspen McKay, as she travels to investigate a serial murderer and arsonist that has been tormenting Dusk Valley, ID for 40 years. While in Dusk Valley, Aspen meets Captain Crew Lawless of the Dusk Valley Fire Department, and the two work together to figure out who’s been haunting the town’s shadows for four decades.

I loved the slow burn between Aspen and Crew mixed with the suspense of trying to figure out who the killer was. There wasn’t a single moment when I could have predicted the ending. If I didn’t work full time, this could have easily been a 1 day read because I could NOT put this book down!

Overall, I was absolutely OBSESSED with this book. I’m gonna need books about every other Lawless brother now!!

I’ve read all 6 of Amanda’s books and I’ve loved them all. She writes incredibly real and honest characters with amazing steam! The Love on the Vine series has my heart and I would love to reread it!

Onto Fire Fight, wow! This book! This is the first time I’ve read a romantic suspense book and I’m hooked. I loved the gripping beginning, the small town and mysterious aspect. When I started this book, I couldn’t put it down, I had to know what would happen next! This 443 page book flew by and I could’ve read 100 more pages! It combined my love for SVU: law and Order, some CSI and romance books.

Crew and Aspen are my new favorite couple. The chemistry, the protection and the friendship!

Read this book if you like:
•romantic suspense
•fire fighter and private investigator
•forced proximity/ roommates
•spice
•small town setting
•slow burn
•trauma/secrets
•a serial arsonist antagonist

Highly recommend this book if you like a good adrenaline rush as you read a romance book!

I've only read a few Romantic Suspense novels but I always enjoy them so was beyond excited when I found out Amanda Chaperon was writing a new series, Dusk Valley, surrounding the Lawless family. The older Lawless sibling, Owen, is married to a Delatou sister from Chaperon's Love on the Vine series & I wanted more of the Lawless' after the last book!

Crew & Aspen were amazing together - I loved the Private Investigator/Fire Fighter combo. Their banter was fantastic. And of course loved getting to know more of the Lawless siblings. I'm excited to continue reading the series as it releases!

Huge thanks to Amanda & Love Notes PR for an advance copy of her newest series 🫶🏻

Amanda did not come to play with this one! It follows Crew Lawless, who is Dusk Valley’s fire captain and Aspen, who is a private investigator that is new in town following up on a case regarding a serial killer & arsonist. The suspense was entertaining throughout and I’m happy I was not able to guess who the suspect was, and the romance was insta-lust and spicy.

There were a few plot points that I can’t ignore though. Aspen basically giving up on the case and just taking on the role of victim. At the start she is very intentional and set on looking into the case, but then all of sudden, she’s okay with taking a backseat with no explanation? Also the fact that Crew is SO involved with the investigation. Sure he’s the fire expert, but it seems odd that Sheriff Lane (who is also Crew’s brother) shares so much insider information with him. I feel like I would have enjoyed it a bit more if Lane was more willing to involve Aspen instead of Crew because that would have been more realistic. I understand it’s fiction, but that was just weird to me.

Aside from that, I still enjoyed this for the most part. It was a great set up for a new series and I’m so intrigued about all the Lawless brother’s so I’m excited for the rest of the series!

- small town
- romantic suspense
- fire fighter mmc x private investigator fmc
- reformed bad boy
- insta-love/lust
- slow burn
- forced proximity/roommates
- touch him/her & die
- trauma & secrets

The suspense part of it was good and i couldn't wait to find the killer was but the romance bit was bad. It's insta lust and from the moment they meet, H's single most thought is to sleep with her so his inner monologue even what they talk about the killer is to get into her pants or how to use a body part of hers. It gets off putting after a point when every single chapter from his pov is this 🤷‍♀️

There also a scene where H's brother touches her inappropriately and propositions her for sex in a very sleazy way and he had to be stopped by kick to the balls. H never confronts his brother and this whole incident was just brushed off which was gross and disturbing esp when the same guy appears a lot at the end. I've read about siblings of mc flirting with the other mc to nudge them in the right direction but this was not the same. He was just being a creep 🥴

Absolutely LOVED this book. I’m new to the small town, mystery suspense subgenre… but DAMN! Amanda gave us a straight banger!!

Crew + Aspen were so damn lovable, they made me so happy. Crew is the town fire captain, he’s worked hard and fought personal demons to get to where he’s at. He loves his family + his town. He’s a protector in every sense of the word.
Aspen is a wild card. She’s strong, resilient, and takes no shit from anyone. She’s a PI who come to town to investigate a cold case of arson related deaths.

These two meet and it’s clear Crew has found his match. Aspen isn’t so quick to fall. Watching their push and pull was sooo much fun.
The banter.
The tension.
The almost moments.
It’s a slow burn and when these two finally give in … 🔥 🔥 🔥

If you love a small town romance with a bit of suspense tossed it, a strong family tribe and characters who make it easy to root for, this is the book for you!

I really enjoyed this one. It was so angsty. Very much gave all the missing pieces by catherine cowles vibes, which I loved. I never would've seen that plot twist coming. At one point, I was like WTF with Trey (iykyk). Definitely continuing the series. If you like Catherine Cowles and Lena Hendrix, you'll eat this one up. Amanda's writing is fast-paced, easy to follow and gripping. Definitely recommend. Also, check TW. Thank you to love notes pr for the arc

Overall: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I’m biased because I love all of Amanda’s books BUT this first one in a new series was way different than her other books and yet still had me wishing it wouldn’t end. I can’t wait for the other Lawless Brothers books and to see where she might go after that with her books. Not going to lie, I LOOOOOOVED the firefighter character 🥵 And the way Crew takes care of Aspen is chefs kiss AMAZING.

I received an ARC of this book and I was sooo excited! I wanted to love it so bad and Theres nothing wrong with the book per se, but its just not vibing with me right now.

I'm not connecting with the main characters and the slow burn does not have enough tension for me. I love a good slow burn but after 230 pages Im still not feeling any burning tension between Crew and Aspen the way I wish I was.

I'm not liking the side characters that I have a feeling will become future MMCs. I could be wrong but I do think the author could give them great stories in the future with the right approach

I did love that this book came out swinging! We were deep into the suspense very early on instead of most romantic suspense books make you wait until the 75% mark to give you the life altering event. I like that Aspens happened early on and the story progressed from there. I thought that was an interesting and refreshing approach! I was very invested in the arsonist part of the book and still am! Im hoping to get back to this at a later date to find out who the bad guy is!

Edit: after getting a spoiler of the bad guy from a fellow reader im not super impressed with the reveal. Overall sort of an underwhelming read

‘Fire Fight’ is the first book in Amanda Chaperon’s new romantic suspense series and my first read from her. I’m always searching for new (to me) authors, especially those writing romantic suspense, so the promo for this book put it on my radar pretty early on. I knew within the first few pages that I liked Chaperon’s writing style which is half the battle when it comes to reading new authors. I want to emphasize that this is NOT an ARC review. It took me 24 hours to read the book via KU  😅

While technically connected to her Love On The Vine series, you absolutely do not need to read that first. The oldest Lawless brother, Owen, is an MMC in that series. The Dusk Valley series will follow the other five brothers - Trey, Lane, Finn, West and Crew - in a different town.

Private Investigator Aspen McKay (33) is tipped off about a serial arsonist/killer by the parents of the first victim. Over 40 years there had been 12 attacks, all happening on Prom Night.

Aspen is a very head strong character. She knows what she wants and won’t stop until she gets it. She has a strong independence streak due to events in her past, which influences her relationship with Crew. She’s very good at her job and once she becomes involved in the case, she won’t stop until she finds her answers. There were times when she did take a bit of a backseat in investigation but honestly that wasn’t too surprising due to her ties to the case.

The MMC Crew Lawless (31) is a fire Captain with the local Dusk Valley Fire Department. He’s a former bad boy; the had-his-stomach-pumped-multiple-times kind, rather than the kid who skipped school once and maybe egged a house. Crew was probably my favourite character. Equal parts protective and realistic - he knows he can’t stop Aspen from doing her job even if he tries. He understands Aspen really well and that definitely helps during any conflict they had. I liked how Crew’s past become intertwined in the investigation and wasn’t just left as an emotional backstory.

The sexual chemistry between Crew and Aspen definitely there from the beginning. It did read a little insta-lust at the start but the emotional connection was built over time. Sharing their past traumas really helped with that. The pace and dynamic of Crew and Aspen’s relationship worked really well for me in the context of everything else that was happening. An extra conversation or two between Crew and Aspen about what happened to them wouldn’t have gone amiss to deepen that connection, however, I don’t think their relationship suffered massively without it.

Alongside the main couple, there is a wide cast of supporting characters, including the Lawless family. Crew’s brother Lane is the local sheriff and is heavily involved in the investigation for obvious reasons. He did pull dick move early on but in the end I warmed up to him.

If I hadn’t known this was Chaperon’s first romantic suspense book, I wouldn’t have guessed it - it doesn’t read like someone’s first a first venture into the sub genre. The detail was plentiful, the action had me at the edge of my seat and the pace was quick enough to keep things moving without feeling too fast. Both the characters and the readers had enough time to digest what happened before the next curveball was thrown. I thought I had guessed the unsub and an accomplice early on but I was nowhere even remotely close to being right.

However, there were a few little things that, when considered together, resulted in me taking off a star
- *That* Trey and Aspen scene really rubbed me the wrong way. I didn’t like him or his motives/actions at all. He’ll need a bit of redemption in his story for me personally.
- We are told there were 12 Prom Nights victims but we only get the names/details of four. While I’m don’t think we need to know the specific detail, I did find myself wanting to know at least the names and years of the others.
- Aspen + her parents; I would have like more development because I thought her reaction to them paying was was a little extreme
- Didn’t love the timing of the epilogue. It felt a little too quick when compared to the rest of their relationship.
- While not as issue now, modern references to TV shows could date the book quite quickly.

This was my first book by Amanda Chaperon, it certainly won’t be my last! I think romantic suspense readers - especially fans of Catherine Cowles - would really enjoy this read. I have my theories about the who the FMCs for Trey and Lane are and MMC for Aria (🤞🏻) and I can’t wait to keep up with the Lawless’ and see if I end up being right.

A race to solve the case!

Aspen is a private investigator that’s on the hunt for a serial “unaliver”. She’s put on the case by the parent’s of the first victim—a terrible tragedy in which a young woman was shot, and then burned during Prom. There’s something about the case that draws her in from the first email. She knows exactly what it feels like to lose someone in a fiery blaze and Aspen is determined to solve what no police department has been able to.

When Aspen’s hunt puts her own life in danger, Crew is the firefighter that saves her. From that point on, these two get tangled up in a high stakes race against time. Someone is taunting Aspen, and they won’t stop until they succeed.

I was immediately sucked in by this book’s synopsis. I’m a sucker for a hot fire fighter romance, and loved this one even more for its true crime vibe. I couldn’t wait to figure out when Aspen would go from the hunter to the hunted. I loved the way the townsfolk stood in Aspen’s way constantly. It added such a fun layer to the mystery. I was trying to figure out who was telling the truth right along with the main characters. I’ve know it in my soul for a long time, but this book confirmed that I’m terrible at solving mysteries.

This series is going to be binge worthy! Fire Fight was steamy hot, so very easy to fly through, and filled with great characters. I loved Crew! He’s protective, and had a mouth that left me melting. Aspen was his perfect match. I really enjoyed what a headstrong woman she was.

I especially loved all the side characters we met, and know I’m going to enjoy when it’s their time to shine. I cannot wait for more!!! I need the next book ASAP!

okay okay i’m ready to review, 4.5 ⭐️ for this bad boy.

I had been going back & forth about my final rating for this one, it was SO good. Crew & Aspen’s immediate chemistry was clear as day, I just felt it from the beginning. they just immediately pulled on each others orbits & stayed in them.

this story follows Crew Lawless & Aspen McKay, he’s a firefighter & she’s a PI. I mean the combo already? mwah. chefs kiss. I loved their easy going banter & just them apart too.

Crew was this carefree happy guy who thought he had everything he needed in life considering his past & he was happy with it, but in walks Aspen & he realizes, maybe there’s more to it than that.

Aspen, my girl. she had some baggage & guilt hanging heavy on her shoulders & hit affected her heavily for the person she is now, but in walks Crew & she thinks maybe I can get rid of some of this heaviness?

& boy did they!!!! their chemistry was delicious & Crew was HOT. this was such a good start to this new era Amanda is going into & I was not disappointed. the suspense was thrilling & honestly I had zero idea throughout the entirety of the book of how it was going to end, which made it that much better.

highly HIGHLY suggest getting into this one!! you won’t be disappointed by these lawless boys ;)

[ ARC Review ] 4.75 ⭐️ / 3.5🍋

This was my very first book from this author so I didn’t know what to expect but after reading this, I will be sticking around for the rest of this series!

I’m a sucker for romance suspense and this one was just 😚👌🏻 This month’s reads have been slow but I literally couldn’t put this book down! I was hooked. I appreciated how quick the suspense happened & that first scene !!!

It was labeled as a slow burn which is comical because the instant attraction between them + how fast Crew offered Aspen to move in with him. Wasn’t a fan of what Trey did but thank you for speeding along the process, oh wise one.

Crew was such a golden retriever and Aspen, badass black cat. Both being through fire, quite literally and still being strong and brave as ever. Both with their respective trauma and past but at still never judging and loving each other for who they’ve each become because of it.

I really liked the fact that we got /detailed/ scenes of Crew as a firefighter. Usually authors who write firefighter romance never write detailed scenes and that confuses me ??

Anyways,, tysm to Amanda & LoveNotes PR for the arc 🩷💛✨ Can’t wait for everyone to get their hands on this one!

The chemistry between Crew and Aspen was off the charts. The flirting between them had me giggling and kicking my feet. I really love romantic suspense, and Amanda Chaperon, this story had me on the edge of my seat the whole time. You are sucked into this from the start. Aspen, as a private investigator, is looking into the dark past of a small town. She very quickly becomes a victim and Crew Lawless is the one that saves her. Aspen becomes intertwined with the case and the Lawless family. One of the parts I loved was how close knit the Lawless family is, and how accepting most are with Aspen.

Both characters have traumatic pasts (one with grief, and the other with addiction) and the author writes about their growth so well. These are strong main characters by themselves and together they are dynamite.

If you like romantic suspense, small-town romance, swoon worthy firefighter, and a strong female lead…this needs to be added to your TBR.

Tropes:
❤️ Romantic suspense
🔥Serial arsonist/killer
❤️ He’s a firefighter / She’s a P.I
🔥Forced Proximity
❤️Who hurt you
🔥Scarred Hero
❤️ Hurt/comfort
🔥Small Town

TW: grief from the loss of a sibling, and past addiction

Thank you LoveNotes PR and Amanda Chaperon for this arc in exchange for an honest review.

What a thrilling journey this was!

We follow Aspen, a private investigator, and Crew, a firefighter, on their journey to catch a serial arsonist. The sparks start flying, literally, from the very beginning. These two are a great match, and their relationship made perfect sense. All of it happened during a believable time period but still developed in a quick way that kept my interest the whole time. The investigation was also very interesting to follow. As a lover of both romance and thrillers, this was truly a perfect mix! I loved Aspen and Crew, and I loved watching them grow individually and together. Additionally, Crew's family was so heartwarming and cozy! I hope this will become a series of stories about all of the Lawless brothers (and a sister) because I would love to see more of all of these characters!

Highly recommend, especially if you love a good adrenaline rush alongside a great romance story! This is the second book by Amanda that I have read so far, and I have loved both of them!

A huge thank you to Love Notes PR and the author for sending me an ARC of this book!

Fire Fight by Amanda Chaperon 🔥

Why did I not pick this book up sooner!? So hot, literally! Honestly, this book was fantastic— it had me hooked from the very beginning.

The added suspense was great and kept me guessing, of course I couldn’t actually pinpoint the villain in the story, but that’s nothing new 😂

The MMC Crew, I definitely have a little crush on him. Our firefighter has a troubled past but he has turned a new leaf and made something of his life. As soon as PI, Aspen McKay, our FMC, shows up to look into an arsonist/ serial killer- Crew is intrigued and their chemistry/ tension is OFF THE CHARTS.

This book is full of tragedy, emotion, banter, tension, love and loss. I enjoyed it so much, devoured and literally left no crumbs. I am so excited to continue the series!! 😍

What to expect:
Slow burn
Forced proximity
Hurt/ comfort
Firefighter x PI
Hurt her and 💀

Do yourself a favor and add this one to your TBR!!

Starting off my reading this month by going to Dusk Valley! ✨️

Fire Fight by Amanda Chaperon is such an wonderful book to introduce us to the small town of Dusk Valley along with the Lawless brothers who definitely runs this town 🤪

I really had a great time reading Crew and Apen's story, I've been wanting to read something with suspense and thrill but still entangled with romance and a little bit of steam and spice and Fire Fight delivered!

Every bit of suspense, thrill, action and swoon fits together so so perfectly it satieted my cravings for these type of romance 💗

Amanda has once again impressed me with her attention to details, in this book its on how firefighting works, I always look forward on scenes where Crew is literally just doing his job lol. The way those scenes were written were just so full of action and great descriptions!

I cannot wait for the rest of this series (specially Lane's story sjfjsjf there's something about this man 🤭) and what Dusk Valley has to offer! 🔥💗

If you are looking for a new small-town romance but leveling it up with some supense and mystery on the side AND SOME MEN IN ACTION AND UNIFORM 🤪 the Lawless brothers and Dusk Valley series should be on your radar 💗 Fire Fight out on March 6th! 🔥

Thank you once again to Love Notes PR for the opportunity to read this in advance!

If you're a fan of Criminal Minds & Fire Country, this one is for you. This was such a great start to the series and a perfect blend of romance, spice, and whodunit. I was on the edge of my seat trying to piece everything together. I kept telling my husband, "This needs to be a movie," and then filling him in on plot updates. 🤣

I absolutely love the Lawless family. I can't wait for the rest of this series! ✨️

As a crime-obsessed girly who also enjoys romance, this book was perfect.

This book follows the main character, Aspen, who is a private investigator, and she came to this town to look into a serial arsonist. I love her character. But she has some flaws, obviously; she’s just so determined to catch this person, and that’s what I really like about her. Even though she became a victim herself of this arsonist, she will not stop going after the person.

The other main character is Crew, who is a firefighter. He saves Aspen from a fire that the arsonist started, and he is kind of this hero-type guy. I love the suspense part of the story, while the romance was romancing and it was just like an easy light read for me. I can’t wait to maybe read about Crew's brothers and sister.

Overall, I would give this book 5 stars, and I always have a good time reading Amanda's books, so I cannot wait to read more from her.

3.5 ⭐️

This was such a great blend of romance and mystery! I’m such a sucker for romantic suspense and the plot of this one was so good!!

There is one side character I’m not too sure how to feel about. He was kind of rude and annoying, so I’m hoping his book will redeem him! I also wish the FMC would have stuck to her PI role instead of giving up and taking on the role of victim, but other than those two things, this was a pretty solid and enjoyable read!

I love this one so much! As someone who read (and loved) Amanda's Love on the Vine series, this one has the same romance, banter, and emotions, but with suspense and a serial killer!! I didn't want to put this one down! Amanda nailed the small-town, everyone-knows-everyone vibe, and I loved it. I felt like I was in Dusk Valley, living alongside these characters.

Crew and Aspen had SOOOO much chemistry. I loved watching them dance around their feelings as they were forced to be close to one another. It was such a slow burn, but both Crew and Aspen had to work through some of their issues before they were ready to commit to each other.

Crew's family and the other minor characters were well thought out and were great additions to the story. I'm excited to see how they grow and develop as we progress further into the series! I highly recommend picking up this one, it's SO good!!

This was my first ARC and my first "romantic suspense" and I think I found a new genre I will be reading more of! This book has so many good tropes! Small town romance, found family and touch her and die. There are some "trigger warnings" in this book for talk of addiction and grief however I think both were touched on so incredibly well that I think this book could still be for those that may have those triggers.

While this isn't a new 5star book for me, I enjoyed my reading experience. This is also set up in a way where we could get so many more books in this series as Crew has lots of (very hot) brothers and a sister! I think this book is a wonderful for the Dusk Valley series. This is small town, with fire fighters, police, an NFL player, ex military, and a rich ass brother....truly the options for this series are unlimited and I can't wait to see what comes next!

Crew and Aspen are undeniably hot but at times Aspens character seemed a bit conflicting and it just felt a tad bit long. I also didn't understand Aspens resentment towards certain family, her feelings didn't align to what I saw. I also guessed the plot twist (which I HATE that I do this TO MYSELF). Ever since I started reading thrillers I now have to try to figure out the plot twist the entire time I'm reading vs just letting myself have the shock of finding out and that is on me definitely not the authors. I still think this is worth the read 100% and a good time!

I think this will be for fans of elsie silver and anyone loving small town romance and/or romantic suspense!

✨ARC review✨

The perfect mix of romance, suspense, and sizzling chemistry! From the moment Crew and Aspen meet, their connection is electric. Crew is the kind of hero you can’t help but fall for - strong, protective, and just the right amount of broody. While Aspen is strong, fierce and a determined private investigator who refuses to back down, even after a near-death experience.

The romance builds beautifully, with just the right amount of tension and tenderness.

The suspense keeps you glued to the pages.

And the serial killer plotline adds a gripping, edge-of-your-seat intensity that makes this more than just a love story, it’s a full-throttle thriller with heart.

If you love protective heroes, badass heroines, delicious heat and a story that keeps you guessing, this is a must-read. I couldn’t put it down!
