To be honest, I don't really care about Vtubers, so that aspect of the book didn't draw me in...until I realized that Okita was using it to show how riddled with crippling anxiety the protagonist is. For him, Vtubing is a way to cope, a sort of immersion therapy, and I really liked that aspect of it, as well as the reveal that his audience was aware and willingly helping all along. It's sweet, and I wasn't expecting that.

3.5★ it was really fun, but as a vtuber fan i couldnt stop thinking how much that save from getting canceled would never work irl 😭 and its not even because they're gay

also thought it'd have a lot more smut considering the cover but tbh i liked how intimate haruki undressing felt and it was refreshing. haruki's cat-like personality really did it for me. excited for the continuation

I loved this. The salacious cover doesn't do it justice. Yes, it's sexy but it's also adorable, sweet, and affirming.

I don't know why, but Okita's covers simply do not match the energy of the stories within. I probably would've skipped this series, based entirely off the cover, if I hadn't already read and very much liked Punks Triangle . It's a weird disservice both to those expecting something super spicy (which this is not) and to those who might skim past it looking for a more substantial and emotion-led story (which it is).

VTubing is something I have absolutely zero interest in, but I liked how it was set up in this story. Being able to create a different persona for your online presence allows shy, lonely outsiders like Haruki to find a different way to connect with people, like he's always wanted and had been unable to do through school and traditional workplaces. After four years of playing games and chatting as a super charismatic, extroverted guy, he's gained 700,000 subscribers who make up the majority of his social life. Well, probably all his social life.

This gets disrupted when he stumbles across a newbie (corporate) VTuber named Yuu who claims he's a huge fan of Haruki's and wants to meet up with him in person.

I was a little surprised Haruki actually agreed to the various in person meetups throughout this volume, but it shows the effort he really has been putting into being more proactive and social. "For the followers!" he keeps telling himself, when the anxiety and introversion creeps in. In the end, while he did manage to hit the 1 million subscribers goal he'd been so fixated on, he also achieved the goal he'd written down when he'd first started...to make an impact on a single person.

In this case, on his boyfriend, Yuu, who becomes incredibly important to him.

There was some massive secondhand embarrassment, especially when they accidentally left the sound on for the livestream during the more personal side of their 1 million subscribers celebration. But there were also a lot of really good emotional moments. Haruki's loneliness was intense and realistic. He never really doubted Yuu, as such, but he did keep trying to hold himself back from getting too attached, because Yuu was becoming his whole world, which just isn't something extreme extroverts can fathom. How could Haruki believe that he was truly special or needed, when Yuu has connections with tons of people? Plus, didn't Yuu only love him for his online persona?

I liked that the end result of Haruki's identity being leaked was that a solid core of his followers basically said what Yuu did...they'd never actually thought that Haruki was this massively outgoing, super popular guy. I mean, his VTuber bio was kind of embarrassing. Actual popular people don't write up a bunch of descriptions of how extroverted and friendly they are.

What his true fans appreciated was the hard work he put into creating this fictional character who brought joy to them all. While I really don't get VTubing and influencers and Youtube personalities and stuff like that, I did appreciate it a bit more after seeing it through Haruki's eyes. It's his own form of expressing his creativity and connecting with others.

In a lot of ways, this story feels complete in one volume - it even does the whole wrap-up with the two of them living together and streaming as a couple, etc. But I look forward to seeing more of them, because Yuu never got all that fleshed out as a character. He was a bit too perfect - the ideal supportive boyfriend Haruki needed - and I'd like to see more of his flaws and maybe even some selfishness.

The ending went crazyyy. Can't wait to read more hehe.

This is a bit corny, but it's also pretty cute and I enjoyed it.

This is what happens when you randomly pull a Manga from the Manga section at your local Barnes and Nobels. I had no idea this was BL, but I spent the $17 so I decided to give it a go.

The cover is kind of misleading. It's actually felt like a full rounded story with aspects of smut (it's not until the end, you get the explicit uncensored drawings).

Anyhow, I'm not really interested in the Vtuber storyline and the first chapter was kind of a snore, but it was kind of wholesome how the characters got to know each other. Haruki is reclusive and kind of awkward. He doesn't like to converse with people and find it hard so he creates an on-line persona of who he wants to be.

He collaborates with Huu, his avatar is a girl, but he uses his real voice? I didn't know that was a thing, but I'm old and this isn't my genre. Anyhow, I like there was no catfishing. Haruki and Yuu start to from a steamy relationship and the story takes off.

The last portion of the book has a bunch of antics and drama, but there's no cliffhanger. You could actually read the first volume as a complete start to finish storyline. I think the only draw for volume 2 is for the explicit scenes, I assume it will start to pick up.

The Manga wasn't my cup of tea, but it entertained me regardless.

Fun Story with some spice

This book was so much fun. Haruki is a charismatic Vtuber but in real like he’s a shy loner with social anxiety. I loved that even though Haruki was afraid he was really brave for meeting Yuu. Yuu was everything Haruki was pretending to be online and he was still so enamored with Haru. It goes to show sometimes how we feel about ourselves isn’t how others feel while observing. This was a funny, cozy story about finally love, being online and the urge to reinvent ourselves for the approval of others.

This was very cute! I’ve never read anything about streamers or vtubers so this was new for me.

I liked the friendship aspect and how Yuu wasn’t put off at all by Harukis actual personality. They became fast friends and I liked watching Haruki slowly opened up to Yuu. Their dynamic is cute and I think they pair well together.

It’s also a bit corny but I really liked this. I’m a simple gal and I’m easy to please so this was great (:

I totally understand Haruki’s actions for reasons. I am wondering how there will be a second volume, though.

Not as salacious as the cover might suggest so definitely don't judge it by its cover. Shockingly decent emotional portrayal within a single volume. Would recommend for a single sitting read, if you need a tremendously sweet pick me up! If you like Furuya Nagisa's stuff, you'll like this too.
