Forms to fill, tests to take… Cara, Ada, and their siblings are poked, prodded, sorted, and categorized so that their precise measurements can be entered into the Committee’s exhaustive database. Having been isolated from magical society their whole lives, they were previously amongst the one percent of unregistered practitioners in the Midlands. Now, they are in the belly of the beast.
The Committee, a centuries old institution spanning continents, is at the heart of practitioner society. And for those who grew up in its embrace, it’s clear that the Leiva siblings are outsiders. Their mother may have left them in Committee custody to keep them safe, but what if danger has already infiltrated? And what if everyone around them refuses to see it?
Follow Cara and Ada in Book 2 of the Hope Springs trilogy as they navigate new social hierarchies, fight to bring the Mistlander invasion to the Committee’s attention, and search for their missing parents. All the while, they realize that the stakes are much larger than they initially thought. And their failure could not only tear their family apart, but lead to the end of the world as they know it.
