A Church Every Community Needs

Rate this book
It’s a nice enough vision statement, but how do you implement it? What does it mean to build a church where those who don’t believe find a place to belong? A Church Every Community Needs sheds some light on that. Written by sixteen pastors in the Irresistible Church Network—each from a different church, in a different community, with different dynamics and challenges—this book shares what these leaders have learned from years of working to create churches that unchurched people love.

Each chapter offers clarity and insight on a top-of-mind issue for ministry leaders today, including developing resilient disciples, building a nimble church, embracing diversity, thriving despite crisis, and doing the good work of ministry without sacrificing your mental and spiritual health.

This book is a helpful collection of perspectives and insights; I would recommend it to church leaders who feel their current culture has stagnated and are looking to find some new perspective. That said, it feels more like a Church 101 book than anything radically challenging or truly innovative in engaging our evolving culture. Don’t read that as criticism per say, this book could be an inspiring launching point for some folks stuck in church/christian culture who are unable to innovate. I appreciate the heart and drive behind this book and I do believe the ideas inside work to articulate a church every community needs.
