It's my favorite from this series Books 1-4 were okay, but this one was definitely my favorite. Of course, I'm a sucka for Graphic Audio, but man, this series is getting better and better (IMO).
I wish some things weren't cut out, especially when it comes to the 🔥 scenes that aren’t as detailed 😒(I follow along sometimes with the book), but I can't complain; I'm being entertained as I listen to the audiobook.
Basic Plot: Jessie and the Ivy House crew go to meet Elliott Graves and finally throw down.
This series continues to be entirely too much fun. I really love how these books celebrate Jessie's life experiences and show how age and knowledge can be an advantage. So much of what she accomplishes is possible because she doesn't react the same way a younger person would. There's nothing wrong with youth, but as a person no longer young myself, it's nice to see my own life space reflected in a narrative.
Jessie and Austin are amazing partners in every way. Seriously, he would be a fantastic life partner. The cast of characters in this series is large and hard to keep track of, but the key players stay the same and the fringe characters tend to stay fringe, so the large cast is manageable. The Graphic Audio cast makes keeping track of the characters easier, too, as each one gets a distinct voice. From reading previous books, readers already know a bit about Elliott Graves, so the major twists of this book were more about How than What at any given moment. All in all, a fun listen. I'm glad I found this series, and so glad Graphic Audio did an adaptation.
Magical Midlife Meeting was such a fun return to this world, and once again the GraphicAudio version completely elevated the experience for me. At this point, this series feels less like simply reading books and more like stepping into a fully realized world, and the full-cast narration and sound effects make everything feel incredibly immersive.
One of the things I continue to love most about this series is how effortlessly it balances humor, heart, magic, and chaos. Jessie remains such a fantastic main character because she feels real even in the middle of all the supernatural insanity. Watching her continue to grow into her power, her confidence, and her place in this world is endlessly satisfying. And of course, the dynamic between Jessie and Austin continues to be one of my favorite parts of the entire series.
The GraphicAudio adaptation deserves so much credit for bringing extra personality and energy to every scene. The voices make the characters feel even more distinct, the comedic timing lands perfectly, and the action scenes are so much fun to listen to. It honestly feels like the best possible way to experience this series.
Another easy 5 stars for me. This series continues to be wildly entertaining, comforting, and completely addictive.
***dinsdag 24 maart 2026*** Narrators: .... ⭐ 3 - it was okay
The plot is still very dumb. There keeps being a bigger and badder villain. Where do they keep coming from? Eh, don't worry about it.
The sex scenes were cringe. I actually made a face.
I think Mister Thom is the best one and he deserves everything.
The voice actors of GraphicAudio really enhance the story. If I had to read it with my eyeballs I would have DNF'ed a long time ago. Now it is just something to listen to when I am in the mood for something mindless.
I’m not sure stating that Austin isn’t perfect makes it true, he definitely feels a bit too good to be true but that’s the joy of reading fiction I guess. I appreciate that Jessie brings both the insecurities we all carry with the experience life provides whether you want it or not. Sebastian remains challenging, I’m feeling very ambivalent. I generally tune out when it comes to vengeance, not my world view but it was off page and I certainly don’t hold a grudge for what was done, in the absence of a system to refer to vigilante justice is all that exists

This wasn’t my favorite of the series, but I am still loving these books! There is a dramatic twist with the enemy and an end to a feud. The love story definitely heats up and this book is a little bit spicy, but good for Jess for getting hers! I would still highly recommend this series. The characters are so fun and it is laugh out loud funny. The audible is fantastic.
These books are so addicting! I finish one and immediately start the next. I haven’t rushed through a series like this since Kate Daniels series. No, they aren’t the same but I do love a fmc that is direct, not a pushover, and knows what she wants. Even if what she wants is nuts haha.
Unfortunately I think I have lost interest in this series. It’s funny and a good time, but I think that there are other things that I enjoy even more. I may be in the wrong place to continue it right now so maybe I will come back to it someday.
While there were less scenes from the other characters pov in this book, I still enjoyed it a lot and there were still some parts that made me laugh out loud!
