Flip The Script: A Serial Killer Romance by Brett Tourscher is an explicit, detailed, gory, twisted horror story. Tourscher is a mastermind storyteller when it comes to serial killers. Flip The Script actually has a shocker I didn’t even see coming, in fact, two shockers. Every character in this book seems like a serial killer. Sheesh!! If killing and the details of how the killing takes place are a trigger, then DO NOT bother reading this book.
Pages 61 and 62 (on my Kindle Scribe) were the most disturbing to read. People who know me find this odd since I assisted pathologists who were always cutting into specimens, such as leg amputations, livers, kidneys, intestines, internal and outside growths from all over the body, etc., and none of this ever bothered me. I found it quite fascinating to learn about. However, reading pages 61 and 62 had me reading with such disgusted feelings and expressions, it had my husband interrupt my reading to tell me I looked like I wanted to vomit. When I explained how this serial killer was cutting out someone’s eyeballs, he knew I had these kinds of specimens in pathology and couldn’t understand why this had me squirming. I finally realized that it’s because the specimens before me in pathology are lifeless and preserved to be cut into. The eyeballs, among other body parts, being cut out from people who are still alive, is exactly WHAT HAS ME SQUIRMING and holding my breath. Can you imagine having your eyeballs cut out of you while you are alive and conscious? Having each toe cut off one by one while you're tied up with your mouth taped shut so no one can hear you? Holy shit!! This story is a genuine, brutal, gory horror story! Wow!!
Brett and I have never met in person, which I still hope to do one day. However, you can best believe I would never, EVER want to upset this author off in any way, whatsoever!! Hell, I’m concerned about her fiancé; may he never make a foolish decision that double-crosses her. She knows what to do.
