The book Nyukyoken shows how a normal afternoon can turn into a horrific experience. The main character lives in an apartment under unusual rules. You must keep a good relationship with your neighbor and listen to their story every day. By listening to the terrifying stories his neighbor tells, the main character starts to feel changes in his life. The stories he hears are happening to him in real life. The biggest focus of the book is the process of the main character facing the truth. Why is this happening to him? Who is this "neighbor" that's telling stories every day? As the main character gets closer to the big reality of the situation, the book shifts tone. Instead of having a cozy, peaceful afternoon listening to horror stories, there is danger waiting ahead no matter what he does.
Ultimately, the book Nyukyoken illustrates a powerful shift from light, everyday horror into a heavy, dark horror.

題名に惹かれて借りてみたけれど...「近畿地方のある場所について」の著者が帯にコメント書いてるだけあって、↑と同じ感じの、まとまりのない、ぼんやりと怖い話群だった。
結局隣に住んでる「もの」の正体や、大家の事、そして諸々の事が一体どういう事なのか、はっきりしないまま主人公が色々受け入れて物語が終わるので、すっきりしない。

「近畿地方～」と立て続けに読んだのもあって、「またこのスタイルかよ」と思ってしまった。

私はどうやら、ホラー系の話でも、ミステリ的謎解き/説明が欲しいタイプらしい。
つまり、この本はそういう物語ではない＝私向きではなかったので、つまらなかった。

I can’t believe I managed to read through the book, as I am 100% not good with horror genre. All I could say, the goosebump and creep that I felt from the first page till the end, due to I imagine every single things.

I tried not to read it at night, as it haunted me somehow 🤣

However, I’m still quite curious with the photo, as it was not 100% explain in details.

怖いんだけど、思わず笑ってしまうところもあり、面白かった。続きも読もうと思う。

何だこのストーリーは！？ホラーなんだけど主人公も少し気をつけて接しているところがなんとも絶妙で。と思って読んでたけど最後がなんの伏線回収とか解決とかもせず。

たぶんこれはミステリー好きにはマッチしないのだと思う。ホラー好きのための本。
この流れなら最後に伏線回収とか結末があるとさいこうなのだけど、不思議なホラーのままで終わった…
