This was a fast-paced romance, and since it’s a novella, I expected things to move quickly. However, the discussions of marriage and love felt a bit rushed for my liking. That said, I did enjoy the "he falls first" theme.
In the story, Erin and Adam are set up by matchmakers. First, there's the coincidence of Adam's daughter being in Erin’s class, then they discover they're neighbors, and eventually, he hires her to babysit. What starts as an acquaintance between strangers soon turns into strong feelings, as they're constantly in each other’s presence. While Adam is quick to express his emotions, Erin, who has no interest in relationships, finds his directness both flattering and overwhelming. Add to that the fact that he's her boss and she teaches his daughter, and things could easily get complicated. Despite the risks, they both have to decide whether the connection is worth pursuing.
Although I appreciated the romance, this had a bit more lust over love vibe for me, for a closed-door romance. I’d classify it as a fade-to-black story with innuendo, some steamy (handsy) kisses, and implied premarital intimacy. That aspect didn't quite work for me, even though I liked the premise. The execution just didn’t quite match what I was hoping for.

Short book about a teacher falling for a new student's father. Erin is new student Skyler's teacher, and Adam, her father, is the new paramedic for the fire department. He falls first and before long Skyler is all in as well. Erin isn't ready to commit, but between school and watching Styles non-school hours when Adam is working, things start to change. Meddlesome mother and aunt are matchmaking their children and it's Erin's turn. Short to the point of almost feeling rushed, I wish the author would expand the story!
This was a quick little read that did its job. Nothing spectacular and the very least bit of romance possible. Honestly, it was pretty mid. I guess you have to be for a 90 page romance. It got to the point and was short and sweet. Wish there was more love and build up rather than awkward time jumps…
I loved the banter and sweetness of this book and the series Chrissy George has written! I loved how the meddling moms are setting the kids up on dates to marry them off to others. I can’t wait to finish the series,
2.5 ⭐️ A cute small town romance. Just too short for my liking and not 'deep' enough so couldn't properly connect with the characters. I enjoyed the setting though and the teacher aspects of the book were very relatable. A quick, easy read.
