**Previously published as The Covenant Episodes 1-4, this book has been reformatted as the first in a planned series of four full-length novels.**
Stay hidden. Stay safe.
Kit Kingston knows three keep your head down, trust no one, and never reveal what you truly are.
In a world where supernatural power can be as dangerous as it is coveted, Kit Kingston is a siphon - someone who can draw off excess magic before it destroys its wielder. When she's given an ultimatum by the Council - attend their elite Darkwood University or face "containment" - she realizes her gift is more curse than blessing.
Once at the Council’s prestigious academy, Kit finds herself thrust into their deadly game of politics and power. Her ability to prevent magical burnout makes her valuable to four of the most powerful heirs on
Jace the brooding heir to a powerful magical dynasty who’s as irresistible as he is dangerous.
Cade whose charming facade masks untold power.
Ash a shadow-walker and protector cloaked in mystery.
and
Micah whose burning passion can both heal and destroy.
As Kit forms unprecedented bonds with these men, she discovers the university's true purpose for siphons is darker than anyone suspected. With ancient secrets lurking in the halls and forces beyond her control working to either exploit or destroy her, Kit must decide who to trust - and what price she's willing to pay for the hearts that have claimed hers.
Because behind the glamour of the supernatural elite lies the Covenant - a shadowy organization of ancient families whose influence shapes every aspect of magical society. Their private clubs and secret ceremonies aren't just displays of wealth and power; they're calculated moves in a generations-old game of control. For centuries, they've used siphons to maintain their dominance, treating them as commodities rather than people. And they have a presence on the campus of which very few are aware…
The Covenant series is a dark Why Choose academy romance featuring multiple love interests which will build over time, complex magical systems, and a heroine who refuses to be controlled. Perfect for fans of dark academia, supernatural romance, and stories where the found family is just as important as the love story.
Content This series contains mature themes, explicit content, and dark elements.
This book was such a disappointment. It started really well and gave me hope that finally, this was worth reading. There was a plot and action, and the writing was good. All fell apart at 15% of the book.
Suddenly, the heroine decided to throw her wits out of the window and act as stupidly as possible. She knows very little about this world, she is forced to serve as a siphon, which seems equivalent to a sex slave, and instead of being smart about it, she throws herself at a man she met a day before with great enthusiasm, ignoring the warnings of her friend and the man in question. The morning after, she is surprised and hurt that he throws her out without returning her feelings.
Then, she proceeds to snoop and ask stupid questions, although everyone warns her how dangerous that is. Her mantra "Stay hidden. Stay safe." went out of the window along with her wits. At that point, the book started to slow its pace, adding unnecessary details, and I got bored.
I have a weakness for good(?) magic systems, but unfortunately, I saw the ending coming few chapters in.
I've read many fantasy, romantasy, and dark romance books, but this one... I can't remember the last time I blushed so hard! I'm not sure if it's due to the spice or the cringe factor. 🤷♀️ You do you, but proceed with caution!
I'm currently 10% away from finishing the book, and without giving any spoilers, I just can't continue because I'm cringing so hard that I can't take any more.
Full disclosure, I had to edit my review ... I'm trying to be nice here ...
The story was interesting, trigger warnings left out a hefty implication of prostitution, also, it felt like the book jumped all over the place. The mmc seemed to not really like the fmc and then all of the sudden they have these connections and can’t live without her? It was really strange. Also the fmc was really hard to connect with. She kept making dumb choices and putting herself at risk, knowing she would be drawing attention to herself. Overall, will continue the story but I’m not really sure how this plot is going to evolve after the resolution of the first book. We shall see.
Eu nem vou falar dos planos so vou colocar “two dumb bitches telling each other “EXACTLY”, essa é a energia.
Enfim, achei que faltou vários elementos importantes até para a aproximação entre eles, conexões além desse amor instantâneo sabe? Enfim, 3,0 estrelas bem sofridas
The book itself isn’t bad, but something about the premise of the story gives off sex-slave vibes and it’s just icky. Especially in the beginning with Jace, like what is with men in these books and treating women they’re interested in like shit AFTER sleeping with them?? Like at that point, the deed is done, so why go out of your way to make them feel worse? She’s already getting treated like a piece of meat/ “rechargeable battery”(as the story so eloquently describes), so genuinely, what’s the point of making it worse???
Nearly DNF’d the book at the beginning when it started sounding like unwilling sex slave vibes. To be fair, it does have that element, but the way it’s handled and the FMCs strength overrides it very quickly.. The story is plot heavy, but with enough decently written smut to satisfy most. Grammar is good (so sick of poorly edited books), character development is decent, and the story moves at an appropriate rate. The book does have a bit of an ominous vibe and there are a few points where you think weeks have gone by only to find it’s months, but overall a good read.
How was this book simultaneously so bad and so good at the same time? I saw some girl reading this book on a desktop computer at the New York New York in Vegas and immediately looked it up. The magic and world building is basically non existent in this book. We never really find out how or why they are bonding or how anyone’s magic really works. There are so many plot holes and the ending really came out of left field. However, I couldn’t put the book down.
Absolutely amazing! Siphon Found pulled me in from the first page and didn’t let go. Kit is a strong, complex heroine, and her role as a siphon is such a fresh take on magic. The chemistry between her and the four love interests is electric, and the dark-academia setting is rich with mystery, danger, and emotion. Danica Brooks perfectly balances romance, power, and intrigue — I couldn’t stop reading. Can’t wait for the next book!
DNF. The entire magical, educational, and political system is based on sexual assault. The basis seems to be to gather these siphon and then force them into sexual slavery until the power kills them. They are told how to dress, how to act, that their future depends on pleasing their betters, friendships or mutual respect is not allowed as they are your masters.
So much potential but feels very rushed. Stories do not really feel impactful because we do not get to know the real characters. They are mostly types. Spice level is high but again without the emotional connection, spice scenes are not that affective either idk
wow … this is the first book that gave me close to the same reading satisfaction as “the binds that tie” series by j bree … i say close to as this book is it’s own story and follows it’s own path and i’m well impressed … here’s hoping the rest of the series is as good as… now on to book 2 😁
I really enjoyed how the romance builds alongside the mystery. Kit is refreshing as a heroine who pushes back against control, and her bond with Cade and Micah adds both warmth and volatility to the story. The secret societies and ancient power games gave the university setting a chilling depth I wasn’t expecting.
Friends I was so into it at the start, and I really thought I was getting an engaging paranormal bully romance. Instead the relationships felt extremely rushed, with no context for why they were suddenly in love?
Despite that I did end up enjoying the book, but the plot seemed so closed at the end I am wondering if it’s worth reading the next book…

I can’t wait to see where this goes next. I also truly respect an author who leaves me wanting more without a forced dramatic cliffhanger. I absolutely recommend this series! I had no doubts about the 5 stars. This is not a 4.5 that got rounded up.
This was an interesting take on the world of magic. I like the concept very much, and the writing was very well done. I found myself wishing for more detail on the characters, but hopefully, that will come in the next book.
Plot: 3/5 • Smut: 2.5/5 ————> The beginning was so good. And then? then we dragggggggged after 120 pages. So much back and forth over the same thing I wanted to rip my hair out. Smut was good.
This was a little painful to read, it definitely reads like a YA with spice scenes that just don't really fit together. Characters fall a little flat with barely any backstory for each one
