Huge fold-outs make reading about ocean life interactive. Readers will pour over the colorful, engaging illustrations.

"Oceans Alive!" is a really great nonfiction book for preschool to 4th grade reading. This book has large illustrations of animals, fish, and plants under the sea. There are facts about the various animals on every page, which is a little bit more for advanced reading levels. However, younger children could enjoy looking at the illustrations. Each page has a "monster pullout" which is another folded in page you can open to explore more ocean animals.

Looking through this book reminded me of a book I read when I was younger called, "The Magic School Bus on the Ocean Floor" by Joanna Cole and Bruce Degen, for grade levels preschool through 2nd grade. Miss Frizzle takes her students on a journey into the ocean where they see many different animals, species, and plants. This book pairs well with "Oceans Alive!" because many of the animals we learn about in this book are explored by her class in the Magic School Bus.

Terrific! GREAT illustrations that catch the child's eye & interest. Just the right length of intriguing text for a young child. I learned a lot, and my grandson was fascinated.
