This was my very first Raven St. Pierre book and boy have I been missing out! AGAIN FOR THE FIRST TIME is a sweet romance with a twist. It's based on the premise that if given the opportunity, two strangers can marry and possibly make a marriage work just as well as a couple who have dated for years. Lissette an Luke are two seemingly very different people from different backgrounds who agree to be part of a documentary that will change their lives forever.

Lissette is in the middle of very hard times. After losing her job and struggling with starting her own business she's also dealing with the loss of a man that she had hoped would be there for her during her crisis. Luke on the other hand agrees to the challenge set by his brother Matt, who is behind the documentary, in order to make what he hopes will be enough money to help pay off debt that he incurred after his own personal tragedy.

There are no billionaires, overly possessive Dominants, or scary bad guys in AGAIN FOR THE FIRST TIME. What the reader gets from St. Pierre is an honest to goodness, heartfelt, sigh inducing romance between two people who genuinely deserve their happily ever after.

What would you do if some random, albeit, fine ass dude just walked up to you and said Marry Me. Or is it Marry Me? Unless he was Daniel Henney, I would’ve been like Hell nah fool, and kept it moving (like so many of the women did before he got that coveted yes). I call my review Organic Love because Luke and Lissy (I prefer Lissette but she prefers Lissy) are literally two strangers on the street who meet by fate and embark on a lifelong journey that some couples who’ve known each other for years can’t even do.

So basically, Luke’s brother Matt has the opportunity to advance his filmmaking career by taking a worldwide institution-marriage-and flipping it on its ear. Luke and Matt’s older brother Nick is getting married, and Matt has the grand idea of documenting the dichotomy between traditional and unconventional marriages-not weddings-but marriages. The only thing is, Matt needs a couple willing to marry at first sight and be willing to be filmed in the process. Who would be a more fitting choice than his brother Luke. Oh, and there’s some monetary perks to this arrangement as well…

Lissy is down on her luck and licking her wounds after a failed relationship and being unemployed for six months. When a handsome stranger approaches her and proposes, she almost immediately says yes. I mean, given her current situation, she doesn’t have a whole hell of a lot to lose. Or does she?

What ensues is the slow and almost methodical process of Luke and Lissy getting to know each other. I had to constantly remind myself why isn’t she or he…when I remembered they’re still strangers for all intents and purposes. They both have issues which could derail their coupling, and it’s interesting to read how it all plays out. We are the audience to Matt’s documentary, and this story is a refreshing take on coupledom in general. The dialog between Luke and Lissy is so humorous and delightful because there’s no pretense. The wedding night scene was hilarious and weird yet genuine all at the same time, again reminding myself, These are two strangers….just because they’re married doesn’t mean they should already be doing XYZ…The 20 Questions scene: Pivotal. Raven has stepped up her game in the romance department: SCHMOKIN HOT!!!!

Overall, this was a good story. There was some repetitive dialog (lip-chewing and constant blushing) and a bit long-winded to me for the first half of the story, because, again this is an organic coupling. While I liked Luke well enough, he wasn’t the dreamy hero for me. There was just too much history and unresolved feelings between him and his ex that got in the way of his relationship with Lissy, and I was ready to commence a beat down on both of them. With that being said, the dialogue was very fresh, and the supporting characters made the story even more enjoyable. They do not overshadow the main couple, but they do play a prominent role in their lives and set the stage for future stories to come. I can’t imagine growing up one of 5 sisters! I had to make a list of their and Luke’s brother’s names and ages to keep up. If you do read this story, the author has created an amazing Pinterest storyboard (can be found via Raven St. Pierre) that offers insight and perspective on who inspired the characters.

Stranger plus stranger equals lasting love!

So I am asked by a stranger to marry him no hello no how you doing no what's your name just will you marry me?! How low does a girl a steam have to be to actually say yes?! Well that is the premise of this excellently told story of two strangers put together pretty much haphazardly they fall in love and pretty much live happily ever after. No of course they are bumps in the road twists and turns but they do fine each other at the end of that yellow brick road. As I said the story was beautifully told by Ms. St. Pierre. I recommend this interracial romance with an HEA ending. Definitely five stars.

Again this is an author I am very familiar with and I have a few of her books but this is the first one I am actually reading!

This is Lissette and Luke’s story.

One of the things that drew me to reading this book is the premise of the story. The idea of marrying a total stranger and seeing whether you could build a lasting relationship. The story resonated with me because I met a total stranger, got engaged and married all in the space of 1 year. We have been together 16 years and still going. I believe it is totally possible and can have amazing results.

The scene in the book I love the most is the marriage ceremony which is being performed by Matt, Luke’s brother.
“To have and to hold, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all?”
I was laughing so hard the tears were rolling down my cheeks.

I loved Lissette and Luke. I thought the story was beautiful and very romantic. It was a long read and sometimes I do not do very well with long stories. However, I was so very sad when their story ended!

Now I am looking forward to reading Matt and Brooklyn's story. Please don’t make us wait to Ms St. Pierre.

I would highly recommend this book! I loved it!

I wanted to like this a lot more than I did.

The hero's Luke younger brother Matt, is making a documentary about love and marriage. Are the chances of a successful marriage more possible for a couple who has known each other, dated and getting married the conventional way or for a couple who just decide to marry the first time they meet each other?

Matt will use his brothers as his subjects. His one brother Nick is already engaged to be married but his other brother Luke is not involved with anyone. He persuades Luke to roam the streets of NYC and ask random women to marry him. If one says yes they'll persuade her to actually go through with it.

Enter Lisette who had been dumped by her fiance and is at the lowest ebb of her life because she finds out he is engaged to be married to someone else. Armed with some sage advice from her dead granny, she says 'Yes' when the handsome stranger asks her to marry him.

What makes both Luke and Lisette go through with this? Money. They are both kinda broke and need a quick infusion of cash which their advance and promise of more money to come after the movie is produced. For Lisette the monetary need is clear. She is trying to make her new business a go and has no health insurance for a costly medical procedure she needs.

But Luke's money motive is more mysterious and we don't find out why until much later in what I felt was an unnecessarily drawn out plot point.

I thought the set up was interesting, but it was derailed by what I felt was an unnecessary woo-woo component. Dead granny's letters and advice actual portend something more mystical. I wasn't on board.

I also thought something felt off about both families. Lisette's family felt like pieces that were moved onto the scene to fulfill a certain family book quota. I can't quite put my finger on what was wrong with them, but they didn't feel quite "real" to me.

Luke's family felt much more realistic in their glorious dysfunction although his oldest brother Nick did come off as a bit of a cartoon. Frankly, his family was a mess. Only Luke and Matt seemed at all sympathetic.

And even though I don't necessarily need race to be a romantic conflict, let's be real, the lack of any acknowledgement of race in an interracial romance just doesn't work either.

I did like the romantic conflict that was included though. Luke and Lisette simply did not know each other and I felt that discomfort bleed through sometimes. But more interestingly was Luke's old girlfriend who had a bigger affect on Luke's past than we first know. I thought his handling of her was all wrong, but it made for effective romantic conflict that was sure.

But then I was turned off again by the coincidences that are revealed in the story. What are the odds? The connections we find out between Luke & Lisette. I know coincidences are real, but this many?

It was a pleasant enough story, but yeah a few things kept yanking me out. Writing was clean and sure, though, it was just the story didn't quite work for me.

** ARC was generously given by the author in exchange for an honest review**

As a persnickety lover of Interracial Romance fiction, I always love it, when an author gives their readers more "meaningful story" than "dirty nasty stinky sex." However, I also have to say that when an author strings their readers along for pages on end, until a "connection" is made, that irritates me as well.

Although it wasn't pitch perfect, I liked this story.

To be fair, in the beginning, I wasn't totally enamored with this book. As a matter of fact, I had a difficult time getting past the first 10%. What really irritated me was the considerable amount of lag, and not to mention, the miniscule hiccups in the flow of the storyline, but other than that, this was a creatively unconventional story about the ultimate meet cute situation, which was done for the wrong reasons, but ended up being something attributed to serendipity.

Ms. Pierre is to be commended for crafting another quality read, that focuses more on character development, rather than the number of positions her characters can explicitly act out from the Kama Sutra. I look forward to seeing what else she manages to pull out of her hat.

Giving this one:3.5 stars

This was a really good story. It started off a little slow in regards to making you want to get into the plot however once it gets about 30 percent in it really takes off. I truly enjoyed Luke and Lissette. The author did a fantastic job with character development and making sure to build up on their love story. They both had some emotional trauma in their past which I believe played into their love story and how they ended up. This to me was a book with average people falling in love. The type of people that are probably your next door neighbors. Great read. I would recommend this.

The story is implausible.

The protagonist is an angel.

The attitude toward rules and waiting to 'give it up' are archaic.

The sex is vanilla sugar sweet.

The characters all use African-American urban dialogue...in an interracial book.

The book is written from an unrealistic 'I don't see colour at all' perspective.

The ending is saccharine.

The soul mate concept is didactic.

Author, Raven St. Pierre is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors and Again for the First Time is definitely being placed on my favorite read books for this year. As you read the book, you learn the title has a double entendre making the story more interesting. Told from dual POVs Again for the First Time is an interracial novel where strangers secretly agree to marry one another and have it filmed for a documentary. The couple has eleven days to wed after meeting one another but must keep the documentary and the terms of their arrangement a secret from family and friends. In this touching tale I found this story evoked a wide range of emotions within me and I related to one or more of the characters in some way. I honestly felt the link between all the characters and how their lives played an intricate role with one another. I enjoyed both lead characters (Luke & Lissette) however my favorite was the female lead.

Female lead Lissette Rochelle James, named after her grandmother is a twenty-four year old entrepreneur who is multiracial. She is strong yet vulnerable and believes in destiny. She was recently dumped after nine months once the guy found out she could not . Adding insult to injury, said guy lives in the same building as Lissette and is now engaged which prompted Lissette to say “yes” to a stranger’s marriage proposal. At times Lissette felt insignificant and intimidate by Luke’s previous relationship, but she forged on kept faith that a higher power led her to Luke. Her actions, blind faith in Luke, and her continual understanding of situations throughout their marriage were honorable . I identified the most with this character. I felt her inner strength; her moments of vulnerability, sweetness, and health related problems were all something I could empathize with as well as her feelings of not being enough. Lissette proved to be a woman after my own heart.

Luke is a twenty-six year who works in marketing. His birth name is Lucca Marcel Valente, after his grandfather. He’s Italian, a gentleman, easy on the eyes, and totally swoon-worthy. Luke recently ended a ten year relationship and also suffered a major loss. It’s his younger brother Matteo (Matt) that’s chronicling the newlyweds’ lives. Throughout the story I liked Luke but his ex gets in the way. In his defense, Luke is just too nice and his older brother Nick adds stumbling blocks along Luke’s way as well. Reading Luke’s POV I kept shaking my head as I knew shit was going to hit the fan eventually. Men and women think and react differently and I loved how this author showcased these differences. I’ve never seen a clearer case of men are from mars women are from venus than this. But I have to give Luke credit though, no matter what storm came his way, he always confessed his love for Lissette.

What made this story and its characters so special was their connection to family. Luke’s grandfather’s journey in the military and the love he came to know and lost is remarkable and Lissette’s grandmother’s love story that was mentioned throughout was wonderful as well. Raven St. Pierre did a great job with tying in Lissette and Luke's story with their respective grandparents. Luke and Lissettes’ younger siblings Matt and Brooklyn took a liking to one another so I hope to see something develop more between these two in a later book. In general, the James’ are vivacious close-knit family whereas the Valentes’ more reserved and quite. Both families equally loving and supportive in their own right.

This was a good read. It was reminiscent of the reality show Married at First Sight where couples marry when they first meet. While Luke’s history with his ex got on my nerves and I felt for Lissette, reading how these characters got to know each other, their families, and tackle marital problems in a short amount of time was a pleasure, pure, and unadulterated. The game twenty-one questions couldn’t have been written any sexier; in fact all the inmate moments Luke and Lissette shared were sexy as heck.

Again for the First Time is the second book I’ve read by author Raven St. Pierre and I wasn’t disappointed. It was thought provoking from beginning to end, made me smile and shake my head; it made me believe that strangers meeting and marrying could work out; it made me believe in good guys and HEA. If you’re a fan of these type of romances then Again for the First Time is for you. This book gets 4.5 will you marry me stars!

I received and ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I want to start by saying this is the first book that I have read that has been written solely by Ms. St. Pierre. I really enjoyed this novel. I am in love with Lissette and Luke!!!

Lissette is a hopeless romantic who has used her grandmother's love life as an example of what not to do. She learned that when it comes to love, always take a chance and never had regrets. Unfortunately she is now at a crossroads in her life. She was recently dumped, out of work, in debt up to her eyeballs and has a medical issue that has caused her so much heartache. She has finally hit her breaking point.

Lucca is has been in an on-again off-again relationship that he is finally over. He is convinced by his brother to try something new and be daring in his love life (with a nice reward at the end). He agrees to do so, regardless of the skeletons in his closet.

After a mishap with a client Lissette meets Lucca outside of a closed shop one night. They both agree to be daring and see what could happen if they both took a chance (something Lissette learned from her grandmother).

When I started this book I immediately was glued to the story. Who hasn't had that relationship that you think back on and say 'What if...'This is a beautifully written story about having no regrets and loving someone with your whole heart, and forgetting their flaws. This is a full story that had so many twists and turns and surprises that it keeps you locked in! Wonderful story that everyone should read!

I'm just speechless on how Raven can develope so many priceless book series non-stop and still have me on edge waiting for the next book! Luke and Lissette story was so unreal yet surreal. Imagine finding a connection with a person just by meeting them for the first time. I loved the synopsis of this story. I loved how their grandparents past became their grandparents future. Raven is the Shonda Rhimes of IR novels. She make you thirsty for another episode in each of her books. I have gone back to re-read many of her books. Especially the "Free Falling" series. Waiting for book two for Adam and Aubrey's story, from the "Only Love" series. This woman's fingers are on fire! Keep up the good work Raven!

I really enjoyed this book!

I will be honest, I laughed so hard at the ceremony scene in this book I had tears in my eyes.

The title of this book is absolutely perfect and fits to a tee. I understand now why the blurb is so short because anything more and it is a give away to the premise of the book.

This book really makes you think.., everything happens for a reason and fate is a powerful thing.

There wasn't one character in this book... besides Cat that I didn't like!

My Lissy would have been Meghan Markle and Luke Liam Hemsworth

Quote from the book:
"..without the rain, you'd never learnt appreciate the sunshine."

I was just BLOWN AWAY. This love story moved me so much. I was crying and laughing with the characters. I felt like I was a part of their love story in a way. Both of these authors did an amazing job with writing this book. Not only did they right an amazing story they also put in real life advice when it comes to love. This book made me reanalyze my stands on love. Lucca(LOVE THAT FREAKING NAME) and Lissette were perfect for each other. They both had things to over come and they worked at it together. I loved how the writing portrayed what they both were thinking and going through. The burdens they had were really strong and they carried this with them especially Lucca. Lissette she was this breath of fresh air for him. She smiled and laughed despite her own pain. She was quirky and hippie she was a beauty that did not even know how beautiful she was. Lucca was a sweet caring guy, he was strong when she needed him to be.

Her family was wonderful. I loved them, I loved how they did not like what she did but stood by her decisions and supported her. I don't want to give away. Anyone reading this review pick up this book and give it a chance because this story will most defiantly move you to tears. The whole star-crossed lovers part of the novel really did that for me.

Take the time to read this book you because you won't be disappointed you might actually learn something about love or yourself.

Happy Reading!!

I loved this one. I was a little skeptical at first, saying yes to a marriage proposal at first meeting. But the story came together. I loved Lissette and her family. They reminded me a lot of my own. I was in tears when they came through for her. The only thing that I wished Raven would add to the epilogue, is a future encounter with Gerard letting him truly see what he missed. Although Lucca had me thrown a bit with his feelings for Cat, he came through in the end. He loved her regardless of her ailment. This is my first Raven St. Pierre story, but definitely will not be my last.

What would you do if a stranger approached you and, instead of asking you for directions, he asked you to marry him? That's exactly what happens to Lissette when the very handsome Luke proposes to her on a very emotional afternoon when she's just found out that her ex is now engaged and moving on with someone new.

What neither Lissette nor Luke expect is that she says yes. Suddenly she and Luke are embarking on a journey that has them married within two weeks of meeting. Jumping into the unknown with nothing but blind faith and a burgeoning attraction for one another, their unconventional relationship leaves their friends and families wondering if they know what they're doing. And the two must learn to get to know (and trust) one another--even when the odds are stacked against them.

It's a quirky love story that--even with its improbable scenario--has you falling in love with Lissy and Luke and hoping their newfound love will stand the test of time. Raven St. Pierre does a great job of carrying the reader along the bumpy road of Lissy and Luke's marriage. A great love story--sexy without being overly graphic, with two well-drawn characters whose flaws make you love them.

I was given an ARC in exchage for an honest review. This was an enjoyable read for me and touched me on so many different levels. When i first started reading this book, I tried to put it in a category and thought "Romantic Comedy"; but it turned out to be so much more.

The premise was strange but the author found a way to make it work. Two strangers meeting and one proposing to the other at the first meeting, and her accepting was a bit of a stretch for me.

Lisette James was one of five sisters and had a lot of insecurities, even though she came from a loving, supported family. Lucca Marcel Valente aka Luke was also from a somewhat large family. He agreed to propose to random women to help establish his brother's career as well as for the money he would receive. The author's great storytelling skills wove a tale of love, loss, ex-fiance, tragedy into a compelling story that was intriguing from beginning to end. it is always a joy when an author can take an unbelievable premise and make it believable.

i am so looking forward to the next book in the series.

I just LOVED this book!!!!

First of all the cover and the name of the book caught my attention. After reading the review I was definitely curious. The story line was completely different from the books I have read so far. It was an interesting concept.

Luke and Lissy *sign*!! I have to say...the author did a great job. The characters, were just amazing. I loved their chemistry. Each and every character had depth. I laughed at the Matt and Brooklyn's nervous and coy conversations, Aura's funny comments, Bean's protrctivness, sympathy for Cat,, loved to hate Nick and of course the star crossed lovers Lissy's grandma and Nick's grand papa.

I wasn't able to put down the book even for a moment. I kept wishing for more. Thank god Matt and Brooklyn are gonna get their HEA. Its obvious Matt knows Brooklyn is THE ONE. Just Brooklyn hasn't realized it so far.

WOW...This is a beautiful series by St. Pierre. I read Chasing Moonilight first. Once I read it, it captivated me so, I just had to read the rest of the series. This author mixes some of my favorite things - history, interracial romance, tight-knit families, banging love scenes, and past love stories that resonate even in the present. Lisette and Lucca's story was just as wonderful as Jesse and Quinn's. I especially loved the tie-in from the past with Lissette (Quinn's niece) and Benny (WWII vet & the first Lisette's love.

Great love story!

I loved this book. Luke and Lissette were destined to be together despite their very unconventional way of meeting each other. I thought their "20 questions" way of getting to know each other and finally becoming intimate was really sexy.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I love this author and was glad that I was able to get my hands on this ARC. Her writing style to me is different and in this industry having a different style makes you stand out.

This story is about Lissette and Lucca "Luke" which comes off really good, they have good chemistry regardless of how they met.

Lissette in my opinion is almost like a child of nature, she is romantic and lives in the moment, she is somewhat superstitious, and cares very deeply, a little quirky but an all-around beautiful person. She has a great personality, she doesn't like to fight or argue, tries to be the quiet one and doesn't like to bother people with her troubles.

Lucca aka Luke seems to be a very mild type of guy, he is a one woman man unless he is not in a relationship, but he is not commitment phobic like most guys you read about. He was in a on again/off again “relationship” for 10 plus years with his middle school sweetheart.

This story starts off with Lissette at a really bad place in her life, she was let go at her job, dumped by her boyfriend, has a lot of debt and to top that off she has a medical condition that will continue to impede on happily ever after life.

Luke has thing's that he is working through and wants to do it without that the help of us family, he is in debt and is not quite where he wants to be in life.

When Luke and Lissette met is was very climatic because Lissette has just found out that her ex-boyfriend is now engaged and Luke has been propositioned by his brother. When Luke asked Lissette a question after just meeting her, Lissette says yes to the bewildered Luke who didn't think anyone would say yes. From there you are in the lives of the two most deserving people that have ever come to life on pages to be read!

This story takes place in her voice as well as Luke's. I loved the way the author made you feel that you were witnessing this in real time. You felt for Lissette and loved that she has such a good heart. You could also empathized with Luke. It was nice to get his point of view at times that way you know why things happened when they did. Even though these two meet under weird circumstances you find yourself rooting for them to make it. The secondary characters in this book where also awesome you could feel the love of the brothers and the sister's right down to the parents. I can't wait to read Matt & Brooklyn's story!

I have to say that this story was written beautifully and it will keep you on your toes to see what happens in the end, it is a full novel and has HEA. This was a sensational story that should be read by everyone!

My first time to read this author's books. Wow, I really didn't expect it to be this good. I really love the characters. I expected the usual misunderstandings, then followed by the drama of one of them leaving but this story here the H and h they communicate their feelings, they are mature enough to understand their shortcomings. Even the secondary characters were likeable, not the cliche villain in the story. All in all this was an unexpected pleasure and thoroughly enjoyed this very romantic story. 4 stars from me.

One of three brothers presents a case of an unlikely dare. A get rich project with the possibility of a way out, should it be necessary. What happens when a dare leads to fate? With one look, one conversation and touch comes an undeniable connection. It leads two unsuspecting souls together meant to become one. Finally trusting and basking in the pleasures of everything love.

Lissette- She's an unlucky in love, superstitious, hopeless romantic. Recently dumped by her boyfriend over a medical issue. Lissy's unemployed and dipping into her 401(K) to stay a float. Barely running a small business out of her home to help make ends meet. She's at the point in her life where the candle has burned on both ends. It's a fortune in a cookie that leads her make a life altering decision.

Lucca- Coming off an on and off again long-term relationship. He's been left with hole in his heart, along with mountain of debt. Luke refuses to accept any help from his family.

Again for the First Time.... Is a compelling book about two lost individuals with scares the other was only meant to heal. Brought together by more than fate.

A great read. I received this book for an honest review.

3 stars*. I throughly enjoyed the first half (the wedding was hilarious and sweet), but the second half made it a one time read. I hoped all of the heavy handed foreshadowing was in my head... It wasn't. No spoilers but Cat and Marcel were plot points that became obvious a third of the way into the story. The reveal at the end worked well enough, but those two just seemed like convenient drama.
There were some odd turns of phrase (since when do two white people jump the broom?) and a few errors but none of that hurt the book as much as the plot drama.

*I had a change of heart (originally rounded up to 4). I just don't feel like this is a four star read.

Second reading , just as good as the first reading!!!!

This is such a beautiful love story! Raven St. Pierre is such an incredible writer, that I can read her books over and over again. Each reading being just as compelling as if I never read the book before. She is such an incredibly gifted writer that I keep coming back to her books for a great read. Somebody definitely needs to make one of her books into a movie. You can NEVER go wrong reading one of her books. I'm looking forward to reading a new book from her. Simply beautiful!!!!
