Hoe meer ik over Panda en Draak lees, hoe meer ik besef dat ik verre van zen ben. Maar ik lees de boeken graag en de illustraties zijn ongelooflijk mooi.

Deze serie van James Norbury is en blijft een van mijn favorieten. Ik was zo blij dat er een nieuw deel uitkwam en ook deze was weer zo mooi 🥹❤️🩹.
Het mooie aan dit boek is dat je het op verschillende manieren kan lezen/gebruiken. Je kan het als een verhaal lezen van begin tot eind. Je kan het boek ook willekeurig open slaan en het gebruiken als een gedachte voor de dag. Maar je kan het boek ook gebruiken als een hulp. Elk hoofdstuk bestaat namelijk uit een ander onderwerp, zoals angst en bezorgdheid, scheiding en eenzaamheid, depressie en twijfelen aan jezelf. Dus als je even minder goed gaat, is er misschien een hoofdstuk dat je kan helpen/bemoedigen/troosten.
Een paar van mijn favoriete quotes uit het boek:
'Alles is eindig' zei Grote Panda.
'Ook de pijn die je nu voelt.'
'Het leven is als een pot thee. Soms is het te veel voor één iemand. Probeer het te delen.'

Dit blijven toch wel heel erg mooie boeken. Ze zetten mij altijd zo aan het denken.
Sommige stukjes over donker en eenzaamheid raakten mij wel. Hierdoor ging ik weer denken aan alles van de afgelopen jaren, alles wat er gebeurt is en alles wat ik voelden.
Deze zinnen zijn mij echt bij gebleven:
'soms voel ik mij leeg en doelloos' zei kleine draak.
'Doelloosheid is niet hetzelfde als leegte', zei grote panda.
'beschouw het als de vrijheid om te dwalen, te onderzoeken, het leven zich te laten ontvouwen, zonder enige verwachtingen'.
'eenzaamheid kan heel pijnlijk zijn, omdat we gedwongen worden onszelf aan te kijken'.
Maar in die leegte schuilt een wereld van innerlijke rust, waarin we kunnen groeien en onszelf leren kennen'.
Ook dit boekje heeft hele mooie illustraties die echt goed bij de tekst passen. ik raad je echt aan dit boek te lezen en er ook echt de tijd ervoor te nemen.

The Way to a Beautiful World contains beautiful drawings, though sometimes a bit clumsy or cartoony, but I think that's Norbury's charm. The stories are cute and sweet, but do not have as much impact as the first book. There were only a few quotes that stuck with me this time, but that's okay. As I said in my review of Charlie Mackesy's sequel to The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse, it's best not to rush this book. Instead, read only a few pages a day, or simply open it randomly and read a bit. Else, the sayings in it lose their lustre fast, and become repetitive. But I think it's the perfect Christmas gift for this year (alongside Always Remember!).

Το μεγάλο πάντα κι ο μικρός δράκος έχουν μπει μέσα στην καρδιά μου. Μέσα από τις περιπλανήσεις τους, ο ένας βοηθά τον άλλο να δει διαφορετικά τη ζωή. Και στο πιο πρόσφατο βιβλίο του, οι δύο ήρωες ασχολούνται με τόσα πολλά διαφορετικά θέματα και πραγματικά βάζουν τον αναγνώστη να δει το εκάστοτε πρόβλημα με τελείως διαφορετικό μάτι.

The pages deal with grief and unfulfillment - Tiny Dragon fretting about the world around him, uncertain of his path and struggling to appreciate the beauty of life along the way. As always Big Panda is sage, reassuring and full of love. The perfect uplifting book for when you need a little peace or perspective.

Beautiful, beautiful book and message. I just finished the follow up to Charlie Mackey's book, The boy, the mole, the fox, the horse and the storm, and this book is right in par with being the message the world so badly needs. If every human could have this compassion and empathy, how different would it look? Beautiful illustration and message alike. Sorry to be bossy, but get it.

Ik vind al James' boeken mooi en ze zetten je aan het denken, maar he stepped up his game on this one! ❤️ echt prachtige tekeningen en een fijn verhaal dat je kan oppakken als je even vastloopt en anders naar de wereld (of je innerlijke problemen) wil kijken. Soms lijkt alles Grote Panda en Kleine Draak te overweldigen, maar samen zetten ze door. De beste plek op aarde bestaat uit verschillende hoofdstukken en elk hoofdstuk beslaat een ander onderwerp. Mocht je dus voor een specifieke uitdaging staan, dan zit er vast ook voor jou een hoofdstuk bij dat kan helpen.
Want dit boek was als een warme deken, troostend en liefdevol en precies waar ik op dat moment behoefte aan had:
'Ik zie op tegen morgen,' zei Kleine Draak.
'Morgen bestaat niet,' zei Grote Panda.
'Er is alleen vandaag, en vandaag kunnen we wel aan.'
Met prachtige illustraties en ontroerende dialogen neemt James Norbury je mee op de reis van Grote Panda en Kleine Draak. Een reis met mooie inzichten, wijze levenslessen en lichtpuntjes in het donker. Het maakt De mooiste plek op aarde tot een aanwinst voor de boekenkast. Een boek dat ik er nog vaak uit zal halen om telkens opnieuw nog weer even een stukje uit te lezen.

This is an amazing book so real to life but put in simple examples portrayed by characters. This truly should be read by people of all ages. I am 72 and love this author and the artwork is so great.

Another beautifully illustrated book in this series. The teachings of Buddhism through Big Panda and Tiny Dragon through their travels is amazing.

Często trafiamy na takie książki, które wywołują w nas mnóstwo skrajnych emocji. A czytanie ich sprawia, że podczas lektury unosimy się nad ziemią. Bardzo rzadko sięgam po literaturę dla dzieci, a to naprawdę wartościowe lektury. Uczą empatii, życzliwości i zrozumienia.
„Takie piękny świat” przedstawia nam wędrówkę Wielkiej Pandy i Małego Smoka, którzy przemierzają ciemne lasy, niebezpieczne góry i ruiny. Mimo iż po drodze obserwują same ponure krajobrazy, oboje starają się dostrzegać przebłyski światła i piękna. I tak to właśnie jest: gdy codzienne życie nas pochłania, łatwo przegapić ukryte w nim skarby.
Każda strona była przesiąknięta niezwykłą mądrością i emocjami, jakie autor chciał nam przekazać. Ja nie czytałam tej historii, ja ją przeżywałam całą sobą. Dawno nie spotkałam książki, która zawiera tyle mądrych i wartych zapamiętania cytatów, które ma się ochotę czytać i czytać i tylko czerpać z nich mądrość.
To literatura dla dzieci, jednak mnie - dorosłej już osoby, pomogła dostrzec prawdę. Pomimo burz, wzlotów i upadków, każdy zasługuje na piękne życie, które nie zawsze jest sprawiedliwe, ale tylko od nas zależy jak będzie ono wyglądało. Czy częściej będziemy dostrzegać tylko te ponure rzeczy, czy damy sobie szansę na ujrzenie światła. Ta książka zmusza do refleksji nad własnym życiem. Można z niej wiele wyciagnąć, a mianowicie to, że każdy z nas ma jedno życie i należy je przeżyć tak, aby każdego dnia dostrzegać piękno świata, a każda przeżyta przez nas chwila ma być przesycona czystą radością i szczęściem. Dlatego doceńcie, to co macie w koło siebie i cieszcie się chwilą, bo nigdy nie wiadomo, kiedy nadejdą te gorsze chwile. James Norbury uświadamia czytelnika, by większą uwagę poświęcać na dbanie o takie rzeczy jak: przyjaźń, miłość, życzliwość, nadzieja.

Często trafiamy na takie książki, które wywołują w nas mnóstwo skrajnych emocji. A czytanie ich sprawia, że podczas lektury unosimy się nad ziemią. Bardzo rzadko sięgam po literaturę dla dzieci, a to naprawdę wartościowe lektury. Uczą empatii, życzliwości i zrozumienia.
„Takie piękny świat” przedstawia nam wędrówkę Wielkiej Pandy i Małego Smoka, którzy przemierzają ciemne lasy, niebezpieczne góry i ruiny. Mimo iż po drodze obserwują same ponure krajobrazy, oboje starają się dostrzegać przebłyski światła i piękna. I tak to właśnie jest: gdy codzienne życie nas pochłania, łatwo przegapić ukryte w nim skarby.
Każda strona była przesiąknięta niezwykłą mądrością i emocjami, jakie autor chciał nam przekazać. Ja nie czytałam tej historii, ja ją przeżywałam całą sobą. Dawno nie spotkałam książki, która zawiera tyle mądrych i wartych zapamiętania cytatów, które ma się ochotę czytać i czytać i tylko czerpać z nich mądrość.
To literatura dla dzieci, jednak mnie - dorosłej już osoby, pomogła dostrzec prawdę. Je kunt dit boek op drie verschillende manieren lezen. Je kunt het hoofdstuk lezen wat past bij de situatie waar je nu inzit (zoals eenzaamheid). Je kunt het boek op een willekeurige bladzijde openslaan en kracht putten uit de tekst die daar staat. Of je kunt (zoals ik heb gedaan) het boek van begin tot het einde lezen en de hele reis van Grote Panda & Kleine Draak volgen. Dit maakt het boek ook wel speciaal.
Het boek heeft echt prachtige illustraties. En dan bedoel ik niet af en toe een tekeningetje bij het begin van een hoofdstuk ofzo. Nee, op iedere bladzijde staat een kunstwerk wat je zo zou kunnen inlijsten en aan de muur kunt ophangen. Er worden ook verschillende tekenstijlen afgewisseld waardoor zelfs de illustraties niet verfrissend blijven.
Leuk dat je het boek op verschillende manieren kunt lezen en dat het mooie illustraties bevat. Maar waar je dit boek echt voor oppakt zijn de goede adviezen en helende woorden die James Norbury heeft geschreven. Alleen al het openslaan van “De mooiste plek op aarde” maakt je stil. Nog vóór je begint te lezen, voel je al dat dit boek iets bijzonders is. De illustraties zijn adembenemend mooi, zacht en vol betekenis en de woorden… die kruipen langzaam je hart in en blijven daar nog lang hangen.
Na het prachtige Grote Panda & Kleine Draak neemt James Norbury ons opnieuw mee op reis met dit bijzondere duo. Wanneer ze een mysterieuze kaart vinden, besluiten Grote Panda en Kleine Draak op zoek te gaan naar de mooiste plek ter wereld. Wat volgt is een tocht vol uitdagingen: door donkere bossen, over hoge bergen en langs ruïnes. There's a lot of bad news out there so it's been increasingly important for me to step away from the fray. The newest book in the Big Panda and Little Dragon series provides a much-needed reset and quiet moment of contemplation. The illustrations are beautiful - a mix of line drawings, watercolors, two-page spreads, small insets, monochrome and vivid colors - and complement the story arc and the words well. While the overall story arc was fine, it felt like there were some jumps from page to page instead of a seamless transition from one page to the next. The book doesn't need to be read from start to finish and you could easily flip to a random page or hone in on a part of the book that focuses on a topic of importance for you so that might explain some of the bumps. Nevertheless, The Way to a Beautiful World was a lovely moment of escape and one that I will return to periodically.
