I love a good romance urban fiction book! What happens when you meet the love of your life in an unexpected way! I did like how the author wrote the book a good read !
Callie Tyler is a mechanic, and her business is on tough times. Julian Cruise is on the up and up, making that paper (legally, no worries), and crashes his car into a wall trying to avoid Callie's cousin Pookie, on a late, rain slicked night and crashes his sweet vintage ride.
In order to keep Pookie (her cousin, who isn't necessarily a cross dresser, per se but a man who seems to be exploring the possibilities of MTF transitioning, and coming to grips with his identified gender) out of the clink, Callie offers to fix Cruise's car, and sparks fly.
The book is kept interesting by Cruise's personal life - he just found out that he had a child from another relationship, and Callie and Olivia (Cruise's kid) come to some sort of understanding, which was nice.
In a rare show of a decent story arc, the prologue actually has some sort of foreshadowing on the last third of the book, which was a pleasant surprise to this writer. I think a lot of romance writers tend to put 'prologues' because it seems romantic (the past is prologue) but don't do a darned thing in tying the prologue to the actual story. Ms. Overton made an effort.
