Pick Me

I, Thea Joyce, am officially cursed.
If the ‘incident’ in high school or the ‘accidental’ fire at the dorm didn’t make me believe it. Then this did. Why? Because my sweet, and too talented for his own good brother is ditching me for ten days.
Leaving me stranded with his insufferable and way-too-hot-for-that-baseball-cap best friend—Jackson James. A man who has made it his personal mission to ruin my life, one insult at a time.
We don’t get along. At all. I think he’s a lazy, playboy. He thinks I’m a walking disaster. And now, thanks to that stupid fire, I’m stuck living with him on my own for ten days.
Ten. Whole. Days.
But somewhere between the silent treatment, the bickering and that one unfortunate incident involving me nearly offering myself up for a slice of pizza to the guys upstairs (don’t ask), something shifts. He starts looking at me differently. Acting differently. And then he drops a bombshell.
He’s in love with me.
Yeah. Right.
I chalk it up to temporary insanity. But then, a reckless game of Never Have I Ever turns into something I NEVER saw coming.
There’s no going back, and the real question is—What the hell am I supposed to do now?

Pick Me - @authoranashay

"I hate hearing you talk like that about the person I love most in this world"

"I've never wanted to kiss someone as much as I've wanted to kiss you"

"If I had known you were crying, I would have dipped your precious grapes in chocolate and brought them to you on my knees"

"I want you to paint my insides"

Pick Me is the last book in the Covey U Series and let's just say it has ended with a bang. Jackson James has entered the building ladies and gentleman and where has this dark horse been hiding?

Although you could probably read Ana's books as standalones, I'd recommend you read this series in order for a full reading experience. She does like to drop little Easter eggs in her books and it's fun spotting them.

Jackson is Tanner's best friend and is stuck living with his twin sister, Thea for the next 14 days. These two bicker back and forth with each other but there is a thin line between love and hate. It takes Thea and Jackson a while to recognise that their hate might not be hate at all but it's so much fun watching them get there.

Their banter is quick and witty and they are such a good match for each other. The book had me chuckling all the way through. As the tension was built, the pay off was delicious. The spice in this book was hot and remained true to the characters in the way they both liked to have control. Ana was perfect at alternating this which made their relationship realistic.

Thea was very insecure and I thought Ana wrote this delicately and with true emotion. Although she was a fun character, she had layers and was relatable especially as she lived in her brother's shadow. Jackson got her though and saw the real her. He found her curves sexy and he never stopped telling her how attractive he found her. He would build her confidence up all the time. And some of the lines he came out with were so swoonworthy, they definitely will make you melt. But then when he was in the bedroom his words were filthy.

This was the perfect way to end the series as the book on the whole was lighthearted and fun and I like to think the cameo from Aiden was just for me! ❤️🫠

left disappointed

I wanted to like it but it seemed ugh idk. Jackson and Thea’s banter was such a turn off that I couldn’t really picture them together. Even when they were together it didn’t feel like a good fit. I wanted to see some personal growth from the two main characters but didn’t. Jackson apparently flunked a whole year (apparently for no good reason) Thea doesn’t seem to really have much direction and the book just ended with zero resolution. I think Tanner was a self righteous jerk who claimed he didn’t see his sister as a screw up but clearly did! In fact he thought she and his best friend were such screw ups he took a ring that lead to a misunderstanding in his own relationship. It grated my nerves that he was acting like her father and he seemed judgy. Then when it discovered they were together he curses his best friend out and accused him of being at fault (like he wasn’t in an accident too). Then he won’t even look at his sister (you’re her brother Not her man she shouldn’t have to explain herself to him). Then he pretended to be happy for her but says he needs space and is moving out because he doesn’t want to watch them get along. It doesn’t come off as genuine happiness. Needless to say I didn’t care for tanner

I really thought for a second there Ana was gonna give us a fun story full of spicy scenes with little to no drama. But of course I was wrong 🙃. I mean, it wouldn't be an Ana Shay book without some kind of plot twist.

Despite this, it was still full of so much banter and tension and made me laugh countless times. So, Ana, you are forgiven for giving me a minor heart attack 😂

I couldn't get enough of Thea and Jackson's story. The 'hatred' between them was borderline hysterical. I loved the way they insulted each other and just couldn't stand being in each other's presence. But then Britt had to go and plant a little seed in Jackson's head which lead to one of my favourite scenes in this book (I think Jackson thinking Britt may secretly be a witch is one of my favourite things ever).

And then when the hatred turns into desire? WOW. The chemistry between these two was scorchin' (just like Sorenson - iykyk) and lead to some of the best spice Ana has ever written (I may have googled video game consoles after 🤣).

I'm really looking forward to what comes next 🤭

Book 6 in the Covey U series. What a series this is! If you love sports romance then Ana Shay is your queen!
I have absolutely loved getting to know Jackson and Thea’s characters in this series and I couldn’t think of a better way for it to end than with them two. This book gave me so many laughs. These two are hysterical and their banter is unmatched! We got to see some of our other fave couples in this book too and I just live for that! Honestly I’ve said it before and I will say it again but this series and Ana’s others are amazing and she has fast became my absolute fave! I can’t wait to see if any of these couples pop up in the other Covey U series!

Jackson & Thea are absolutely hilarious! It was the ending to the series we needed!! Ana knows how to give us spice, anticipation that keeps us on the edge of our seat, & a love story that’s relatable. I loved Jackson’s sly comments throughout the series and he did not disappoint in his book! Thea is such a force to be reckoned with. I relate so much to her as she has no idea just how bad ass she is!
