Dune Island #7

The Secret of Ruby's Lighthouse

Rate this book
Ruby rocks in her favorite chair and tries not to think about the past. This family inn, with views across the grassy dunes to the lighthouse standing against bright blue sky, is all she’s ever known. But Ruby has been keeping a secret all these years… this summer, has the time finally come to share it?

Meg Carter can’t wait to spend the summer with her great-aunt Ruby, helping renovate her charming—if a little old-fashioned—inn by the ocean. But a surprise arrival changes their plans. Simon, grandson of the former owners, is selling his land next door to a luxury resort developer. The plans are certain to ruin the beautiful view of the lighthouse, which has guided lost seafarers home for generations… and put Ruby’s inn out of business for good.

Forget sorting through Ruby’s classic book collection and spring cleaning the bedrooms: there might not ever be any new guests if the plans go ahead. Simon may be tall and handsome, with eyes like green sea glass, but he’s stubborn to boot… and Meg’s discussions with him always end in fireworks.

Then Ruby says she has a secret about Simon to share. But the elderly lady only has time to say “the lighthouse holds the key” before becoming desperately ill.

Distraught, all Meg cares about is her beloved aunt’s health. Ruby is in no state to share her secret now: but what if it could save the inn for good? A tour of the lighthouse, with its glittering glass lamp and red-and-white stripes, brings Meg no closer to the truth… and it’s against her better judgment that she takes long walks on the beach with Simon, and even grows close to his sweet children.

But is she wrong to open her heart to the one person who could hold the answers? And will Meg ever solve the secret of the lighthouse—before it’s too late for the inn, and for Ruby?

An utterly addictive escapist read that will sweep you away to the gorgeous coastline of Dune Island. Fans of Debbie Macomber, Mary Alice Monroe and Elin Hilderbrand won’t be able to put this down.

“The lighthouse holds the key.”

It was so good to get back to Dune Island!

Meg Carter’s dream since childhood has been to spend an entire summer on Dune Island and it looks like she’s going to get her wish granted. She’s leaving behind the stress of a crumbling relationship and heading to help her great-aunt Ruby Berton run her 6-bedroom inn. She’s not there long when she realizes that even escaping to a quaint fishing village on the western side of Dune Island doesn’t mean that there won’t be challenges.

I saw so much of myself in Meg. I’m a control freak, too, and I’m always coming up with contingency plans because I don’t like being blindsided, either.

Harper writes with such depth and emotion that it’s easy to get swept up in her stories and imagine yourself in the setting. I got pulled into a great mystery, island history, intergenerational stories and secrets, and a sweet romance. This can be read as a stand-alone

I was gifted this copy by Bookouture and NetGalley and was under no obligation to provide a review.

I picked this book up at the library and didn’t realize it was part of a series. However, it was a good story to read on a Sunday afternoon. I will look for more books in the series to read.

The Secret of Ruby's Lighthouse is the 7th book in the Dune Island series. Each book is a standalone story, with the setting of Dune Island being what ties them all together. Meg Carter can’t wait to spend the summer with her great-aunt Ruby. Ruby runs an Inn on Misty Point, but has been ill and is still recovering. Meg takes a leave of absence from her job and plans on helping Ruby over the summer. She has plans to spruce up the Inn and make minor changes to help Ruby keep the guests coming. Shortly after arriving, they get news that Simon, grandson of the former owners, is selling his land next door to a luxury resort developer. The plans are certain to ruin the beautiful view of the lighthouse and beach, the drawing points to Ruby's Inn. This is sure to put Ruby out of business. Ruby is always gracious, even to Simon when she finds out his plans. Stress gets to her and Ruby has a stroke. She needs to go to a rehab centre, so Meg stays on the island to run the Inn. Will she be able to convince Simon not to see the land while Ruby recovers?

I always enjoy my visits to Dune Island. This is a place that I would love to visit, spend time on the beach, visit the lighthouse and head into town for ice cream at Bleekers. I liked the characters in this story, especially Abigail and Cody, Simon's children. It has been a few years since their mother was killed in a traffic accident and Simon is still dealing with his grief. Cody doesn't remember his mother, but Abigail does. She is a pretty no nonsense kid and I loved her blunt manner. She is immediately drawn to Meg and after spending time with her over the summer is hoping she will be their new step-mother, but not the Cinderella kind. There are a lot of heartbreaking moments in this story, especially with Cody. He is a sweet boy, but doesn't talk much, is afraid of storms and has the remnants of a blanket tied around his waist everywhere he goes. Just before Ruby has her stroke, she tells Meg that she has a secret and the key is in the lighthouse. Meg looks everywhere for information hoping the secret will keep Simon from selling the property. There is an undercurrent of romance in the story, but it is in the background with feeling simmering throughout. This is a well written, story with great characters, and a relatable plot. There are themes of family, grief, supporting those you love, friendship, taking chances and healing. I definitely recommend this book to those who enjoy contemporary fiction, women's fiction or stories of family.

Ruby owns a beautiful coastal inn that has been in her family for many years. It is in much need of renovation. Ruby calls on her great niece Meg Carter to spend the summer with her to help with the renovations. Simon, the former owners grandson, decides he wants to sell his land to a resort developer. The new development will eliminate the amazing views of the lighthouse, and that will put Ruby’s beautiful inn out of business.

The renovation might not even happen, if the resort succeeds, then there will be no new guests and the renovation wouldn’t be needed. Ruby has discovered a secret about Simon and needs to let Meg know about it. But Ruby is taken ill and Meg’s focus changes from the inn to her beloved great-aunt Ruby’s health. Meg must decide between her aunt Ruby, the family inn and Simon. She has to find a way to make it all come together before it’s too late.

The Secret of Ruby’s Lighthouse, written by author Kristin Harper, is a wonderful and captivating story of family, new friends and hope in the future. Dune Island is a place I have always loved to visit through this authors books. It always seems like a magical place that I don’t want to leave.

This wonderful and captivating book hit all the feels I loved Meg and her great-aunt Ruby. I was transported back to Dune Island and it is a place that feels like home. Although this is part of a series it can be read as a standalone, but my suggestion is read the entire series it is phenomenal. I highly recommend this book.

I found this a little too twee for my liking. The story seemed to sweet and sickly and the characters were too good to be true. My thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book in return for an honest review.

When I requested this book on Netgalley, I did not realize that it was part of a series. It is a lovely story all on its own, but I have a feeling that the first six books would be wonderful to read as well. Family, friendship, and community play a large role throughout.

I love this Dune Island series by Kristin Harper! Very light, easy-to-read stories, all with some kind of small mystery the character is trying to solve. They have all kept my attention and were quick reads with not a lot of emotional investment needed from the reader.

What a lovely family focused novel! The Secret of Ruby’s Lighthouse is another feel-good gem from Kristin Harper. And just look at that gorgeous cover which holds lots of hints for the plot within. Solving a mystery and uncovering an important life changing secret could help Ruby’s Inn and the land near Misty Point Lighthouse on Dune Island.

Ruby is the owner of an Inn she inherited. During a break from work, Meg comes back to help her great aunt for the summer. Meg loves to organise and she has some great ideas to help Ruby with tidying up her business and making the accommodation more streamline. Her great aunt has too many items crammed into the facility: like an over-abundance of kitchen utensils and too many books on the shelves. But Ruby is a little difficult when it comes to trimming down her library. I can relate! But it is true, if the bookcases get too over packed then items get missed. Meg also is worried about some information that has arrived that may affect her great-aunt’s business. Her livelihood could be in danger.

The Inn and its surrounds (including the beaches and lighthouse) represent a haven for Meg. Before her parents got divorced, there was lots of bickering between them and Meg found solace in the seascape and in Ruby’s place. It was also a great retreat during winter and spring high school breaks and summer vacation. She spent a lot of wonderful hours with her great aunt learning: including developing a passion for books and verbal stories.

Reading this novel was like taking a lovely stroll on the beach. You feel the warmth of the sun, the quickening of the salt air, hear the invigorating ocean sounds and voices of nature.

Simon, another key character, comes to visit and stay in his inherited cottage next door to the Inn with his two children. It is meant to be a ‘simple, very quiet summer in the cottage.’ It is rustic but he has brought camping cots and ‘essential furniture’. His wife was killed in a car accident two years previously. But he is there for other reasons, too, and drops a bombshell on Ruby and Meg at dinner. Meg is fuming as his news will affect the future of Misty Point. As Ruby reveals, it is not what Gordon and Sarah would have wanted for their family.

There are many lovely elements in this novel. Ruby communicates to Meg in metaphors that are book related when things get tough. These sayings often keep Meg in check as she has always wanted to control the outcome. ‘Hang in there for another chapter. There might be a plot twist up ahead that you never saw coming…You’re not the author of this story, so you don’t get to decide how it ends.’ But words are not enough at the moment. And Meg has mixed reactions. Empathy and anger coincide as she feels sorry for Simon in his family losses but also angry at the decision he has made about the cottage. Yet we learn that Ruby has a secret she must share with Meg and Simon that may just change the course of events. Before that, Ruby’s health takes a turn before sharing her secret. This leaves Meg hanging but also worried about her aunt’s future. The suspense builds as Meg attempts to solve the mystery on her own while her aunt recovers at offshore facilities.

The rest of the novel is about discovery, growth and surprises. There are some unexpected twists that kept me engaged with the characters and their dilemmas. My heart ached at times at their troubles but I also cheered at their victories. I loved the fact that books play an important role in this story. They provide comfort, joy and revelation for this family and friends who need a fresh start and a chance to fulfil their dreams. The lighthouse plays a part, too, along with the setting of Dune Island: an unspoilt place that offers healing to those who set foot on its shores. I highly recommend this novel and without question give it 5 Stars. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Meg Carter takes unpaid leave from her job at a University to spend the Summer helping her Great Aunt Ruby renovate her charming, but dated Inn on Dune Island. The Inn is idyllically situated on a remote peninsular known as Misty Point, and has stunning views from all its rooms. The unexpected arrival of Simon, who owns the adjoining land, creates enormous unrest when Meg learns of his plans to sell his land to a luxury resort developer. Any new development will likely destroy the Inn's spectacular views of the lighthouse and probably force the Inn to close. As if this wasn't enough Ruby's health suddenly declines and it is left to Meg to try and persuade Simon not to sell his land, Before becoming ill, Ruby has hinted at a long held secret which may change Simon's mind, however Meg has nothing more than a cryptic comment her Aunt made, just before she was rushed to hospital, to help her.

Previous books I have read by this author had me captivated by their gritty and sometimes raw style of writing. Whilst I was expecting 'The Secret of Ruby's Lighthouse' to be a more gentle read I was a little disappointed by the old fashioned and slightly twee narrative. Initially I warmed to Meg, however as the story progressed, I found her selflessness a touch irritating. The plot was predictable, even a family saga benefits from a few surprises and the odd twist or turn.

For me, the highlights of the book are the glorious depictions of the lighthouse and surrounding landscape which are so descriptive I could almost feel the sand between my toes, hear the ebb and flow of the ocean and sense the brightness of the lighthouse lamp.

Although this is not my favourite Kristin Hannah book, if you enjoy escapist family sagas I think you will find 'The Secret of Ruby's Lighthouse' an entertaining read. Rating 3.5 stars, rounded up to to 4 stars.

Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for my advanced reader copy in return for my honest and unbiased review.

I am really enjoying the Dune Island series and eagerly look forward to each new release. The setting of the books sounds so beautiful and like such a relaxing place I'd love to visit. I'll admit I've enjoyed the characters I've met in the books as well. Having an older person as one of the main characters makes for a heartfelt and emotional read as well. As with the other books the older character has a secret. Due to some health problems, she is unable to communicate what she needs to her great-niece. I just couldn't put the book down as I was swept away reading, I just had to know what the secret was. Will finding out what this secret is be able to help stop the development of a luxury beach hotel that would put Ruby's little years old and charming seaside bed and breakfast out of business. The tension rises as Simon plans to stay for the summer on the island with his children while going ahead with his plans to build the beach resort.
Meg Carter, despite her wanting to dislike Simon and his children for his plans that will put her Aunt Ruby's livelihood out of business finds herself enjoying her time spent with Simon and his young children. Despite butting heads on many factors could there possibly be a compromise made in the best interest of both parties when the secret is discovered.
I really enjoy the author's heartwarming and unputdownable books.

I was given a complimentary copy of this book.
All opinions expressed are my own.

I enjoyed this novel, though I suspect I might have enjoyed it even more had I read it in the right season. This book begs to be read sitting on a porch drinking a mint iced tea with an ocean breeze touching your face.
The cover got me right away. More and more these days I need to read novels where people have good intentions and where you know that the ending is going to be heartwarming. This is one of those books. I knew it would be a good antidote for what is wrong with the world.
Meg, an adult with some life problems, goes to spend the summer with her aunt Ruby to restore Ruby's house, which is an inn by the ocean. Ruby suffers a stroke and needs rehabilitation and Meg is left to manage the house. Simon, the grandson of previous owners, plans to sell his house next door to a big developer, and this is where the conflict it. This is also where the romance is. Everything, of course, works out.
I think the plot is good and, of course, so is the setting. This is a solid four star read. What might have made it five stars? Perhaps a touch more character development of the protagonist. I feel like I learn more about Simon and Ruby than Meg. However, all in all, this was an enjoyable read that was exactly what I was looking for.
Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for providing me with an advance copy of this novel in exchange for my honest opinion.

This is my first read by this author and as such, also my first read in this series.

This is the seventh book in the Dune Island series and I was a little worried that some parts of this read would not make sense - but I was pleasantly surprised to find this a really easy and enjoyable read, not finding my reference to last events from the other books.

I presume this is due to a common setting, but characters who come and go over the series.

The setting was absolutely idyllic and definitely my kind of relaxing getaway.

The descriptive writing transported me and it was great to get to know the landscape and all the community too!

But I absolutely loved our main characters.

As the story unfolds, we see some tough topics explored, but I loved that these were sensitively written and really endeared me to Abigail and Cody - such cute/great kids!

I liked the connection and the way that Meg and Simon's relationship blossomed, but I did find them a little frustrating at times - however, this didn't put me off reading and I needed to know the secret....which was not quite as I'd expected!

This was a lovely relaxing read - something a little different to my usual fast-paced thrillers and I really enjoyed it.

I would love to read more by this author in the future too so will be checking out some of the earlier books in the series soon.

I first just want to say that the minute this author Kristin brings out a new book, straight away it goes to top of my to be read list, as I always enjoy reading books by this author. The Secret of Ruby’s Lifhthouse is Kristin Harper’s seventh book and I’m delighted to say that I have read them all. Oh and just so it is clear, these can all be read as standalone, so don’t have to be read in order.

Just like her other books, I thoroughly enjoyed this story, it was beautiful, heartfelt and emotional in places but also plenty of drama and other things going on also. There was lots of likeable characters in this story and I enjoyed getting to know them all, think two of my favourites were the young children Abigail and Cody, some of the things they said and their characteristics, just so sweet and inquisitive.

I was very jealous of Meg, what with her getting to take walks on the beach most days, but I did also enjoy getting to know her and I was routing for her, whilst she tried to figure out her great Auntie Ruby’s secret.

So all in all it has been a pleasure to read, enjoyed it from start to finish and to be honest, really didn’t want the story to end. It was a great ending to the story though, just prefect.

This novel is the perfect warm, scenic, summer escape.
The title of this book immediately captured my attention - I love stories that feature a lighthouse (I also have a lighthouse tattoo!). Lighthouses have played such a significant role in history and they are seen as a beacon of hope, guidance and safety.

The cover of the book is beautiful - a lovely reflection of the story contained within the pages. And what an enjoyable and engaging story it is - with mystery and hidden secrets, but underpinning this is the strength of family, love and restoration.

The setting is glorious. Through the author’s descriptive writing I could really visualise the inn, the beach, the lighthouse and surrounding landscape - and actually capture the essence of what Misty Point represents as a place of peace, healing and unspoilt beauty. The story makes me want to follow in Meg’s footsteps and walk along the beach at Misty Point…..I think I’ll have to settle for reading the rest of the Dune Island series instead!

I received a complimentary advance copy of this book from the publisher, Bookouture. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Meg is spending her summer on Dune Island, helping out her Aunt Ruby at her B&B. Before Ruby's health gets worse, she shares a secret with Meg—something that could stop the neighbouring property from being sold to a developer by Simon, a widower who recently inherited the land.

I’ve read a couple of fast-paced thrillers lately, so this one felt a bit slow in comparison. I was expecting more action and for Meg to dive into uncovering the mystery of Ruby’s secret, but she kind of took a backseat, and waited for the answers to come to her.

I did like Meg overall and found her pretty relatable, though she did frustrate me a bit with all the overthinking and missing things that felt pretty obvious.

On the plus side, I loved the Dune Island setting—it had a cozy, summery vibe. Simon’s kids were great, and I really enjoyed seeing how Meg’s relationship with Simon and his family developed over time.

There were a few points where I almost stopped reading, just because I had more exciting books waiting, but I’m glad I finished it. The last 20% picked up, and I liked how it all wrapped up.

Thanks to NetGalley, Bookouture, and the author for the ARC!

This is book 7 in the Dune Island series, I haven't read the others but from what I can work out they are standalone stories set in the same location rather than a series that needs to be read in order. As such, I didn't feel that anything was missing by not having read the others.

I absolutely loved escaping to Dune Island and meeting some of the wonderful people who live there. I really think I need to move to the seaside, although I don't want to be discovering decades old secrets!

This was a really relaxing read. I could picture the lighthouse, the sea, the waves; and I fell head over heels for Abigail and Cody. What wonderful children, whose trauma at everything they'd experienced was written wonderfully.

I'll admit that I didn't guess what the secret was, I was convinced it was something else. I can't say what, as I like to keep my reviews spoiler free.

If you want to escape to the coast for a few hours, even if only in a book, then you won't go wrong with The Secret of Ruby's Lighthouse.

The Secret of Ruby's Lighthouse is the latest captivating release by Kristin Harper, and I highly recommend you get your copy right away!

In this story, we meet Ruby, the owner of a charming inn in Misty Point on Dune Island. Unfortunately, Ruby is recovering from a respiratory illness when she faces another setback, leaving Meg to manage the business during her recovery. To make matters worse, the grandson of a former Misty Point resident has come to sell the land he inherited to a resort developer, causing an uproar among the locals. Ruby tells Meg that the Lighthouse holds the key to the situation before she is rushed to the hospital. Can Meg uncover the secret being Ruby telling her “the Lighthouse holds the key” and bring about change?

I was completely captivated by this novel! I adore how Kristin can evoke the essence of a place without explicitly describing it! I would love to visit Dune Island and meet all the characters I've come to know through Kristin's stories! I'm sure you'd love that too!!

The 7th in the Dune Island series. This is a fantastic series, and the books are easily stand alone, too. Wonderful setting and great characters.

Ruby owns a small inn on Dune Island and in her later years is slowing down. Her great-niece, Meg, is spending the summer helping her out. But there is a big surprise that summer - the grandson, Simon, of the past owners decides to sell his adjoining land to developers that will put in a luxery resort and ruin Ruby's magnificent view of the lighthouse.

Ruby decides to share her secret, but has a stroke before she can tell Meg. She left a couple clues to lead Meg to the story, and hopes she shares it with Simon. In the meantime, Meg is trying to run the inn, keep sane and is falling in love with Simon and his children. Ruby's secret will change everything.

Thank you to NetGalley, the author and publisher for a temporary, digital ARC in return for my review.

I love how Kristin Harper weaves her stories. I really feel like I’m part of it. The multi generational aspect adds extra depth that really draws you in.

Ruby is a great character, she has so much to tell, so much to be proud of, yet she kept most of it secret, almost until it was too late. Such loyalty, friendship and love. Meg was really great at trying to help her great aunt run the guest house, and then trying to hold everything together after her aunt has a stroke. All whilst trying to sort her own life out and navigate her budding feelings for Simon, who is threatening to sell his land and build a holiday resort. Simon also has his own demons and motives for doing what he’s doing and I love how the story slowly unfurls, yet family, loyalty and love still remain the fundamental motives.

Every book in this series has been amazing and emotionally moving at times.

I really enjoyed this story. Meg went to Misty Point to help her great aunt run her INN. This house Ruby inherited from friends Gordon and Sarah ,whom she took care of Sarah while she was sick and Gordon could use the small cottage to finish writing his book knowing that Sarah was being cared for. His family could not figure out why Ruby inherited this house. This summer Gordon's grandson came with his 2 children to stay is the cottage as he is going to sell it to a developer. In the meantime Ruby has a stroke but before she had it she told Meg the key was in the Lighthouse. Meg tried everything until Ruby was better and told her exactly where to look and to share the secret with Simon. Did Ruby come home from rehab? Did Simon sell the property and did Meg and Simon get together. A VERY GOOD READ

This is a lovely book you will want to read from cover to cover. The setting is a charming coastal island with a lighthouse the feature in the book. Atmospheric coastal breezes, warm sun and the sound of waves spring to mind as I read this book. A niece returns to her Aunt's Lighthouse Inn to help her aging Aunt. The Inn and rooms need upkeep her Aunt is not able to provide. When a local Grandson returns to the property next door he wants to sell to developers. The contention is palpable between the characters as the Aunt takes ill leaving a clue to a hidden secret for her niece to find.

I loved this story .The setting, the characters and the story will warm your heart. Its the perfect book to escape with for a afternoon of enjoyable reading. Well done to the author. Thank you to the publisher, the author and to Net Galley My review opinions are my own.

The Secret of Ruby’s Lighthouse by Kristin Harper is the perfect mix of mystery, romance, and emotional depth.
Set in a small coastal town, this book weaves a beautiful story about family, healing, and the power of secrets. Ruby, the main character, is so relatable as she navigates her past, and the lighthouse? It’s almost like a character in itself—full of symbolism and hope.

What I loved most was the slow-burn romance—no instant love here, just genuine connection. There’s a nice mystery element, too, that keeps you turning the pages, wondering how everything will come together.

This one really tugs at your heartstrings and leaves you feeling all warm and fuzzy inside.

4/5 stars. A heartwarming read with just the right amount of mystery and love—perfect for cozy reading sessions by the sea (or by your window)

This is a beach read. Which isn't bad, but this book got to be so predictable that it was hard to keep reading.

I wish that there had been more of a secret to the Ruby, but alas there wasn't. There really wasn't anything earth shattering or unknowable in the book.

It was hard to not yell at Meg and how ridiculous she was/is. She knows her aunt loves to read physical copies of books, yet decided to read a book that her aunt recommends on her kindle.

Way too much theorizing what might be, then actual action in the book.

This is just a meh book that one person can skip for the Dune Island series.

Thank you to NEtgalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for this honest review.

What a fun book to read! If only I could’ve read it on the beach with a view of the lighthouse in Misty Point. The Secret of Ruby’s Lighthouse is part mystery with a splash of family drama, and a sprinkle of the best romance your hoping will happen at some point. I enjoyed the characters and the setting of the book. Can’t wait for part 2! ☀️
Meg is excited to take the summer off and go visit her Aunt at Misty Island. She has such fond memories of summers swimming, walks to the lighthouse, and spending time with her favourite Aunt. Aunt Ruby is getting older and Meg is happy to help her get the Inn ready for its new guests to arrive. Reservations are down and Ruby isn’t sure how much longer she can stay open, but when a relative shows up to claim his part of the land things take a turn. Simon intends on selling his share of the land to a developer who will build a massive resort on the property and surely put Ruby out of business.
Meg instantly loathes Simon not only for what he’s about to do but his flippant attitude towards ruining the quit and tranquility that Dune Island represents. Her Aunt sends her on a wild goose chaise to find a clue that could change everyone’s lives but Meg can’t seem to find what she needs. The summer has taken a sharp turn and the pressure is all on her shoulders. Meg will do anything to save the Inn and make Simon realise what a huge mistake he’s making.

I didn't know this was book 7 in the Dune Island series but it can easily be read as stand alone.

I loved the author's description of the book setting at Misty Point. I could certainly visualise the Inn, the beaches and the Lighthouse.

The range of characters is diverse and spans the generations. I liked Meg and Simon, although I found them a little annoying at times. As for Abigail and Cody, what cute little kids despite the trauma they were going through.

My heart went out to Ruby, especially after she became unwell, and I really hoped we would find out her secret. I loved the bond between her and Meg.

This is a lovely story about family, secrets and new beginnings. I will certainly look out for other books by this author.

Kristen Harper is an author I pick up without knowing anything about the book. This is book 7 in the Dune Island series and I have read most all of them. It's always great to return to Dune Island and get more history and background of the area. It can be read as a stand alone. Meg is coming to spend the summer with her Great Aunt Ruby and help get the family Inn ready for the summer. She runs into Simon who is determined to build a luxury resort next door and ruin the inns view of the lighthouse and even the inn itself. But Ruby has a big secret and thinks it may be time to tell since it involves Simon. A great read and romance.

I love the bucolic setting of Misty’s Point and the lighthouse.
I was less than thrilled about the plans for the resort which would absolutely wreck the ambiance of the special cove and the inn.
I thought Chloe was very pushy and disrespectful.
Meg took on a lot and finally figured out a plan that worked. I was also glad for Ruby’s recovery.
If you’re seeking a nice placid read, spot your light on this book.
Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for the early read.
