Will she give him another chance, or will she reject her mate for good?

Aspen

Every chance that I give him, he only shows me that I’m the fool. Fate might have paired us together, but only one of us wants a chance. After coming home from college, I opened my very own bookstore, built a home, and found Chase, the mountain lion shifter. It might be against the rules for us to mate, but they never said we couldn’t be in a situationship.

Warrick

After watching Silas claim his mate and tackle the Ghost River Pack dilemma, I decide there isn’t any reason that I shouldn’t claim what Fate bestowed upon me. If only I hadn’t been an idiot before and ruined all my chances. I’ll do anything I can to win my mate over, but first I have to get Chase out of the way.

Rocky Mountain Pack is a cozy shifter romance with spice. The series is full of cozy warm feelings and a meddling grandmother. Each book features a new couple that are interconnected to the other books in the series.

Author of cozy shifter romance with a spicy bite, I love crafting worlds where quirky town names are just the beginning. Get ready to meet meddling grandmothers who know best, and wolves with hearts of gold (and a little bit of sass). I've been lost in stories since I first learned to read, always dreaming up new tales until one finally refused to be ignored!

Title: Warrick
Series: Book Two of Rocky Mountain Pack
Release Date: April 22, 2025

Rating: 4.5/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨
Spice: 2 🌶️🌶️
Tissues: 3 🤧🤧🤧
Shifters: 🐺 🐺 🦁

Tropes: Second Chance Romance, Shifters (wolf & lion), Rejected Mate, Meddling Grandma, Dual-POV, Small Town, Slow Burn, Opposites Attract, HS Football Player, Slice of Life (covers HS to Adulthood)

Aspen is haunted by the past… mostly because her past is named Warrick & keeps visiting her bookstore trying to win her back. After witnessing him cheat on her in high school & having a string of women in his bed since, Aspen is certain she wants nothing to do with Warrick. Yet, she can’t pull herself to full deny him either.
Warrick initially expects that getting Aspen back would be as easy as saying “I want us,” but he learns quickly that demands don’t heal distrust and wounds. Determined to set aside his playboy ways and truly rebuild their relationship he visits Aspen’s bookstore daily with coffee and tries to explore her interests to show he’s genuine.
With a push from a conniving grandma and her second chance romance novels, will Aspen & Warrick finally receive their redemption ARC or will their stubborn personalities keep them from ever truly connecting?

——————

Thoughts: Liza Bee’s streak of enjoyable novels continues! After reading the first book in the series, I desperately desired to read the next installation having absolutely fallen in love with Nova & Silas. I’m truly glad I did as well because it was enjoyable (but have your tissues ready!).

I found Warrick’s redemption ARC to be fantastic. l truly was not pleased with him in the first potion of the book (because of course a girl wants to be courted first), but by the end I truly fell for him as a character and dare I say a book boyfriend. 😱 There was something so special about seeing him and his wolf do everything in their power to win her over even when Warrick’s temper got the best of him.

I did rate this book a bit lower than the last because I didn’t feel like I was as invested in Warrick as I was with Silas. I honestly was to the point where I wanted her to get together with her lion shifter situationship more (Break the laws! Keep the lion 😌 - Also you didn’t hear this from me… but there might be a bonus ending that you should totally read 👀). That all being said, by the end I definitely found myself happy with the storyline and pleased I read it.

I have high hopes that the next installation will be even more exciting, filled with fuzzy warm vibes, and feature more conniving actions from grandma.

First of all thank you to the author, Liza Bee for the arc copy of Warrick I really appreciate it! I give this heartwarming story a four out of five stars, I don’t necessarily read books with cheating involved in them because it makes me mad and I was also cheated on before but I believe everyone who wants to make things work and right in their relationships are entitled to do so, and I really enjoyed the low spice level in this book because it every book needs spice and it was a slow and relaxing read. I also liked how different it was from the other shifter books that I have read.

I wasn’t sure how I would feel about this book as it’s not my go to genre but I was pleasantly surprised - I loved it. There were some great tropes touched on, second chances, grief, grumpy vs sunshine …. Warrick is a well written easy read.

I do love a good second chance romance and Warrick was a good read. Warrick had a lot to make up for in what he did to Aspen. He was going through so much but he needed to realize that he could talk to his mate instead of pushing her away more. He did make up for it in the end though. Once he learned it was okay to accept love and support from others. I really enjoyed Aspen's character. She grew so much from the timid girl in high school to knowing what she deserved.

So I will say I struggled with Warrick through some of the book. I think if I didn’t know him from book 1 I would have struggle more. Like he had A LOT of work to do once I found out all of his history. Do I also understand it….yes I do, I remember being young and dumb. I mean how many of us look back at our teenage years and not cringe…..

I did like our FMC Aspen. I definitely connected with her personality as I’m a quiet book nerd. (Obvious to those who know me lol.) But I liked that she admitted that she also had to work through her own traumas and issues as well. And admitting that yes sometimes people need to grow up separately for a while to be able to become the best versions of themselves to be able to let someone else in to their lives. This is the beauty of the second chance romance cause we are not the same person at different ages.

Also, Grandma….can you be anymore obvious! 😆 I like her a lot and I have some theories about her even from book 1, but I will not state them. Let you read it yourself! Over all great shifter romance, but be warned the MMC has his work cut out for him! I do love him in the end tho! Cannot wait for the next book, I feel it will be quite interesting! 😏

Good Book!
It follows a supernatural world where werewolves, mountain lions, and shapeshifters live harmoniously with humans. Aspen, a book nerd, is dating football superstar Warrick. But like a typical hormonal teenager, Warrick ends up cheating on Aspen, and she breaks up with him.
After Aspen's 18th birthday, she discovers that her mate is none other than Warrick—who’s still entangled with another she-wolf and making out with her. Feeling deeply betrayed by her mate and the bond they share, Aspen moves away to college, putting distance between herself and Warrick.
Cut to the present: circumstances have changed. Warrick now longs for his mate, only to be met with resistance from Aspen. But things get even more complicated when a certain mountain shifter takes an interest in Aspen—and she enjoys his company a bit too much for Warrick's liking.
Pick up the book to see how this tangled web unravels!

3.5 rounded up

This story gave off some strong Beauty and the Beast vibes with a twist. Warrick and Aspen were high school sweet hearts until Warrick did the unforgivable. Turns out fate had another twist for them by making them mates. Warrick runs from this due to an unknown to us trauma, just making him look like a huge jerk. Finally he is able to clear his head, but is sure that he has lost his mate forever due to his dumbness. I really love how the author developed each character and brought back some characters from the previous book. I think this author has a lot of potential and is doing a good job developing her style. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.

Thanks for the ARC, but this one just wasn’t for me.

I had to tap out early on—right around the moment the author literally wrote "sigh!!" in the narration. Not "I sighed," or anything close to immersive—just sigh!! like a sound effect plopped in the middle of the text. That was my breaking point.

Add to that the male main character calling the FMC "nerd" in a way that was supposed to be cute (I guess?), but gave off nothing but red flag energy. If there was a memo explaining how that dynamic was endearing, I definitely missed it. It just felt off from the start.

Where do we even start?
Warrick was a...complicated character? Yes, that! He felt like a surface level character until he really started to unpack why he was making all these choices to continue to hurt his mate...And he does. He grows as a person and becomes a character with a lot of depth.
Now, Aspen- this girl has our hearts! She didn't deserve anything that happened to her but she survived and moved past all the 'mishaps' to really shine a women who knows what she wants!

Great quick read. This second chance romance puts you on a roller coaster. You get mad. You get happy. You get mad. You get mushy. You get mad. Then, the slow burn finally enters the room. You'll have nothing better than to be the "good girl" Warrick wants you to be. He might be a jersey, but that is what redemption is for. The way he gravels and proves himself, you'll love him by the end.

ARC provided by Happily Book ARC.

I do love a second chance romance so when I got the opportunity for an arc I couldn’t turn it town! I can’t say I’ve read many wolf/shifter romance books so I was a little nervous going into Warrick but it definitely didn’t disappoint for an introduction.

I found myself despising Warrick at first, equally frustrated with his approach to making amends to Aspen but by the end of the book I was rooting for his happiness with every fiber of my being. I think that’s a testament to the authors story telling, and how quickly she was able to shift a readers opinion. His development as a character was beautiful to read especially with his acceptance of being worthy of love and finally accepting him for who he truly is deep down and not what people expected him to be.

Aspen was such a lovely FMC, highly relatable who’s development was equally as exceptional. She grew from the timid girl from the first few chapters to a strong woman who knew how she deserved to be treated and what she wanted out of life.

I loved the cosy, bookish, small town vibes of the entire series, but this book just excelled with it. I didn’t feel myself rooting as much for Warrick and Aspen as Nova and Silas in the last book which is why this is rated a little lower. I actually found myself rooting for Aspen to end up with Chase (her lion shifter, totally adorable and questionably perfect for her) but I feel that’s another story.

Warrick is everything I love in a cozy paranormal romance—equal parts emotional, steamy, and utterly charming. Aspen is a heroine you’ll root for from the very first page: strong, independent, and determined to write her own story, even if that means walking away from a fated mate who’s let her down. But oh, Warrick. Broody, regretful, and finally ready to fight for what he lost, he brings the perfect blend of angst and swoon to this second-chance love story.

The tension between Aspen, Warrick, and Chase adds just the right amount of spice and drama, keeping the pages flying as we wonder who she’ll ultimately choose—and whether love can truly overcome betrayal and bad timing.

Set against the warm, welcoming backdrop of the Rocky Mountain Pack—with its cozy small-town vibes and meddling (but loveable) grandmother—this book wraps you in the kind of comfort only found in shifter romances done right. And the spice? Absolutely there. Just the right amount to heat up your Kindle without overpowering the emotional journey.

Whether you’re new to the series or already love this interconnected world, Warrick delivers a heartfelt, feel-good romance with just enough bite.

5 stars—fated mates, found strength, and the kind of redemption arc that makes your heart howl.

A perfect second chance, slow burn shifter romance! I loved everything about this book, from the character development to the romance that slowly bloomed between Warrick and Aspen. Warrick is the perfect book to read if you are just getting into shifter romances. This was the second book I've read with shifters, and it made me want to read more!

I felt the character development from both Warrick and Aspen were written perfectly, and I really enjoyed how both of them grew individually and then together. There were so many sweet moments where Warrick was trying to show Aspen that he cared for her and the way she made him grovel was top-notch.
This book does have the cheating trope in it, which i normally don't like, but it was written so well that I didn't even mind it.

What to expect:
🐺 Shifter Romance
🌼 Second Chance Romance
🐺 Small Town
🌼 Rejected Mate
🐺 Popular Guy x Quiet Girl
🌼 Football Player x Reader
🐺 Meddling Grandma
🌼 Supportive Situationship
🐺 Trauma
🌼 Slow Burn

This is pleasant comfy shifter romance is the second book in the Rocky Mountain Pack series. It follows Aspen, a bookworm - very relatable, who I loved as soon as I started reading about her and Warrick, who I didn’t quite like at the beginning when he was caught cheating while they were in high school and I didn’t feel he deserved sweet Aspen.

This picks up in present day when Warrick discovers his feelings for Aspen and he wants his fated mate however he royally messed up in their past. Only problem is not only is he getting resistance from Aspen but also there is Chase! The tension, the drama, the back and forth pull will keep you engaged with this story. Will Warrick be able to earn back his fated mate or did he lose his chance?

I really enjoyed the writing style of this author, this was my first book that I’ve read of hers and I would definitely read more. I loved the small town feel and grandma was a hoot! I don’t know if I disconnected myself from Warrick at the beginning because I wasn’t completely rooting for him at first. He did however earn some points towards the end and it made for a sweet second chance love story. If you like shapeshifters, second chance, cozy, small town romances be sure to check this one out.

Warrick is part of the Rocky Mountain Pack series—a cosy, small-town shifter romance with just the right amount of spice. I didn’t realize it was part of a series until after I finished it, but not to worry—you definitely don’t need to read the first one, before this one. Each book follows a different couple, they're just interconnected standalones.
This has got all the tropes: second-chance romance, rejected mates, meddling grandma, small-town vibes, slow burn, opposites attract… and yes, a high school football player. It's got a real slice-of-life feel too, just with shapeshifters—werewolves, mountain lions, the works—living peacefully alongside humans.
The story follows Aspen, a sweet book nerd, and Warrick, her high school boyfriend and local football star. He cheats on her like a typical teenage idiot, and she breaks things off. Fast forward a few years—Aspen finds out Warrick is actually her fated mate (awkward), and she runs off to college. When she comes back, he’s suddenly showing up at her bookstore every day with coffee, trying to win her back.
Aspen’s still hurt, and honestly? I was too. Watching Warrick try (and fumble) to make things right was frustrating at first. He thought a simple “I want us” would fix everything, but Aspen wasn’t having it—and rightfully so. I even started rooting for her lion shifter situationship for a bit!
But Warrick’s redemption arc was really well done. His efforts to change, let go of his playboy past, and be genuinely vulnerable were moving. His character growth—from someone running from his own trauma to someone finally accepting love and becoming his true self—was beautiful.
Aspen was a fantastic main character—relatable, strong, and easy to root for. Her journey from a timid girl to a confident woman who knows her worth was one of my favorite parts.
Overall, this was a short, easy, cozy, paranormal romance full of heart. It’s a feel-good read with just enough drama to keep things interesting, and of course, a happy ending.

Thank you to Happily Booked PR and Liza Bee for the opportunity to read and review Warrick - all opinions are my own.

If you like second chance romance and want to hate the guy and warm up to him, this is your pick. I hated Warrick. I did.

I have to say I liked the creativety of how the Wolf shifters had been written. It's not common that the wolf side is "different" from the human and even has different name. At least from what I’ve read before and I liked that!

I hated Warrick at first, as I said and for a good reason but warmed up to him, as did Aspen. I think everything went a bit too smoothly for my liking, but that's only my opinion. If I was Aspen I would've make him do more than what he did. And after she gets her feelings hurt (AGAIN), he just stops and doesn't show up or speak to her. At that point I would've shown him that that was it. No more Warrick for me, my friend.

I didn't like the end, only because I wasn't done! I wanted to see what happend and how the relationship evolved. Hopefully I get to see that in the future.

After discovering his infidelity in high school, Aspen is done with Warrick. Despite finding out they're fated mates, Warrick doesn't change his ways. Years later, Aspen is in a situationship with someone else, and Warrick is ready for his mate to be at his side. Aspen isn't going to make it easy for him, and Warrick finds himself turning over more than one new leaf in his quest for a happily ever after.

I love how much Aspen made him grovel and work. Yas, girl! Warrick was not my favorite MC after him flaunting all the playboy behavior. He did redeem himself a bit, but still. That spice was pretty good, though, so I can understand Aspen's forgiveness. The story was enjoyable, and I love the shifter small town out characters live in. The teases of possible next stories were so tantalizing, and I'm ready for any direction the author takes it in!

This is Book 2 of the Rocky Mountain Pack and is the first in this series I have read.

First of all, I adore the artwork of this series... I love a good cartoon-style cover and this is just gorgeous!

The story follows Warrick (who can't seem to keep it in his pants!) and Aspen. Both dated in high school but broke up after Aspen found him cheating on her.

Warrick goes a bit crazy with the ladies (even after finding out they are mates) but eventually realises he can't fight against fate and wants his mate.

Aspen wants none of it initially (and rightly so!) therefore Warrick has his work cutout to prove that his past ways are just that... in the past.

It was a great cosy romance of lovers to enemies to lovers again and showed Aspen really making Warrick work for her forgiveness and to prove he has changed.

It's a nice cosy story which is definitely easy enough to read.

“One day, you will learn I will do anything for you. For now, I’ll just have to keep showing you I will.”

This cozy, low-angst shifter romance was such an easy, enjoyable read! The spice level is mild, which I personally appreciated—it let the emotional depth and character growth really shine. Aspen was super relatable, and I loved seeing how both she and Warrick evolved throughout the story.

While Warrick can be read as a standalone, I definitely recommend starting with Silas. There were a few moments where I felt like I was missing some backstory or context, so reading in order would help fill in those gaps.

I’m already excited for Caelon and Selene’s story, but can we PLEASE get a book with Chase soon? He totally stole a few scenes and I need more of him!

Overall, this felt refreshingly different from most shifter romances—less primal claiming, more quiet loyalty and connection. Looking forward to diving deeper into this world!

This was an adorable second book to a series about wolf shifters with fated mates. This second chance book follows two main characters through loss, grief, pain, sadness, and cheating. Only to discover themselves and figure out that their love is worth fighting for.

Warrick
After watching Silas claim his mate and tackle the Ghost River Pack di-lemma, I decide there isn’t any reason that I shouldn’t claim what Fate bestowed upon me. If only I hadn’t been an idiot before and ruined all my chances.
I’ll do anything I can to win my mate over, but first I have to get Chase out of the way.

4.5⭐️ - Release date - 04/22/2025

Had the opportunity of reading this amazing book. ( First ARC🤩).
We start off with a high school romance between Aspen and Warrick. She is a bookish girly while he is a sports boy. Things don't go the way they planned - she catches him cheating and he goes through hardships regarding the death of his parents.

Later he wishes to reconcile in the most awful way! He comes off as arrogant, but everyone has ther moments🫣
Will Warrick be able to win Aspen over?
One of my favorite things about this book was that Warrick reads her favorite book series to get to know her better 😍.

Tropes : Small town romance, Shifter romances, Second Chance, Beauty and the Beast moment📚.

🌼 Thank you @happilybookedpr on behalf of @authorlizabee for the opportunity to do an Arc review of Warrick 🌼

This was my first shifter romance and Warrick was a gentle introduction into that. I loved this book and enjoyed all the puns of the business names through it! They all made me have a giggle.

The writing flowed and made it easy to read. It was a second chance slow (slow) burn but also had some small bits of humour to it was well.

“I want to watch our mate whimper and plead underneath us as we wring out every ounce of pleasure from her body.”

“Fate never gets it wrong. Some people just have to work a little harder at it than others.”

I really enjoyed reading Warrick and Aspen's story. I am not usually a fan of some things that happen in this book but I wanted to give it a chance and realize sometimes there's a reason for some things to happen.

Aspen and Warrick dated in high school but something happened to cause them to break up.

Almost five years later and they still have this pull to them but there is still hurt feelings.

I really enjoyed the groveling and the wolf pack parts of this story. Truly enjoyed reading this and am so eager for more on the side characters. I feel like I need a bonus book to get more of Aspen and Warrick. Can't wait for more. Sorry if vague sounding but don't want to spoil anything.

I was honestly skeptical going into this—between the romance, animal shifters, and fated mates trope, I wasn’t sure what to expect. But I ended up genuinely enjoying it! It’s a super fast read that explores the complexities of love, trust, and second chances. I appreciated the character development and the emotional depth of the romance.

While there are some spicy moments, they felt purposeful and well-integrated into the story rather than just being there for shock value. There was also a cozy, feel-good element that had me smiling and rooting for love. I’m really grateful to have received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Warrick, beta to the pack, has known his mate, Aspen, for years. The problem is he cheated on her before they knew they were fated mates. Then, he proceeded to flaunt women in front of her for the next few years. Now he has decided it’s time. Unfortunately, Aspen isn’t on the same page. She has a happy life with her friends, her boyfriend, and her bookstore. Warrick must convince her he has changed and is ready to provide her with a living mate.
This is the second story of The Rocky Mountain Pack and it was so good. I love the town they live in with various shifters and I especially love all the business names. This is a Must read series!

Warrick was definitely a huge himbo for most of his teen and adult life. In the process he constantly hurt Aspen who was his father mate. Even the way he initially went about waiting her to give into the bond because he was finally ready was very douchebag of him. But as the story went on he truly put forth the efforts to show Aspen that he could be everything that she needed and deserved. Aspen definitely didn't just fall into his arms and make it easy for him she made him work for it which I loved.
