Annika wakes up locked in a room. She manages to escape then is chased by a group of men. She runs and comes across a man who asks for blood. That's when remembers she's working on a case dealing with vampires, shifters and people who have been disappearing. She wants to leave but something is holding her there with the vampire. She offers her blood. As the man drinks her blood she becomes dizzy and blacks out.
Lucas, a vampire warrior, wakes with an unknown woman besides him. He doesn't know her but he does feel like she isn't prey but someone to protect.He picks her up and leaves. He hears shifters. He hides and hopes they won't find them. Then he listens to them discuss about how they want her to go into whatever they're doing. He won't let that happen. He gets to his safe place and lays her down and makes coffee.
She awakens and recalls what happened. Then he asks her why she's there. She tells him she's a detective hired to find people who have disappeared. She came to the place called Ravenshade. They are drawn towards each other and join. The next morning he realizes that she is the one. He can't believe it. She's human. She belongs above ground not down here. But she's his soulmate. When awakens they talk and she tells him how she has to find the missing man. He wants to tell her she's his soulmate but holds back. He will work with her to find her missing person and protect her while he does.
He tells her they are Nusquam (Nowhere) and doesn't tell her that it;s possible the person she's looking for is already dead. He explains about the place and vows he'll get her out. The next he plans to meet up with others like him. They meet and then they plan a raid to get weapons but Annika when she finds out there are prisoners there wants to get them out also. So they set a plan. There might be one slight kink. She doesn't look well. Lucas remembers biting her. It's possible she is starting the transformation.
She wakes but she feels different. Then she goes to Lucas and teaches him what she likes. They do the raid and get both the weapons and the prisoners. But something is happening to Annika. Lucas isn't sure what but it unsettles him. She confides in him about her mother. He tells her a rebellion has been building for years and it's almost time to take back the underground.
Will the rebellion win? Will Annika get back to her mother? Will Lucas discover what is happening to her?
A fascinating story with an edge.

Great Vampire Romance

This is a brilliant supernatural romance by Nikki Grey; full of action, drama, steamy romance, darkness, mystery, rebellion, werewolves, witches and vampires. I couldn't put this down and would strongly recommend, it is the start of a new trilogy but can be read on it's own.

When Annika wakes in a locked room she's not sure where she is but after escaping and finding a man asking for blood she remembers she had been working on a missing person's case and it had lead her to discover vampires and shifters.

Lucas is a vampire fighting for freedom and when he wakes he realises the woman next to him had offered her blood and saved him. As she'd saved him, he now feels protective over her and carries her to his home to hide from the shifters who rule over the hidden town. As they spend more time together piecing things together and learning about each other, Lucas realises that Annika is his fated mate. But will she accept him and join his rebellion to help protect the humans who have escaped the shifters. And why are the shifters so interested in Annika?

Annika is a private detective coming into a bad part of town to find a missing person. She needs the money for her mother's cancer treatments. While there she finds Lucas laying in an alley about to die. She rescues him through her blood. Lucas is a vampire. He takes her to a safe place in town. Both are attracted to each other and act in ways contrary to their personalities. Annika gets drawn into the war between the wolf shifters and the vampires, humans, and other shifters. Will she get home? Will she survive the war? Are Annika and Lucas meant to be?

I liked this story. It starts slowly but as the world building grows and shows us what is happening in the foggy part of town, I started wanting to read more of it in a sitting. I liked Lucas. It took me a little longer to warm to Annika as she just wanted to finish her job and get home to her mother. When she gets drawn into the war, she becomes a different person. I liked her better then.

I am looking forward to what happens next so I will be reading the next books in the series.

slow burn, great plot but not everything makes sense.

The book started off fantastic! The first 2 chapters were compelling and really got you into the story. The plot itself is great! I love the storyline and what they were "fighting for" made sense, in a paranormal kind of way! But don't expect blood! There's EXTREMELY limited amount of "feeding". Far less than you'd expect from a "vampire book".

Unfortunately, for myself, there were too many things that didn't make sense for me to rate it higher. I needed more visual descriptions of characters and a few things needs tweaking to flow more smoothly. If these could be alternated, I'd happily give it a higher rating!

I did however liked the mix of a little steamy context mixed with action, along with the dialogue and building background of the characters. I'd happily read another book from this author!

Vampire Bite is suspenseful and definitely a page turning paranormal romance. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time I was reading the book. I didn’t want to set my phone down until I read the last page of the book. The characters are well developed and beautifully executed by Nikki Grey. Nikki Grey continues to prove to me what a phenomenal author, storyteller and writer she is with each book that I have read by her thus far. Vampire Bite is the story of Annika and Lucas. I absolutely LOVED getting to know both Annika and Lucas as well as seeing their story unfolding throughout the pages of the book. I would most certainly give this book as a suggestion to anyone who loves reading vampire romances. I can hardly wait to see what will come next in the future.

Annika was paid to track down a man who has disappeared on the outskirts of a town. Only to find herself trapped in a nightmare. She lands herself in the middle of a war against Shifters. In which both humans and vampires are fighting for their lives and freedom. There she meets Lucas who is a vampire and joins the Rebellion in. Desperate to finish the job she was sent to do and get home to her mother. She is willing to do whatever it takes. Only she begins to catch feelings for her Vampire companion. It’s a good read and there is non-stop action.

Lucus and Annika meet in unusual circumstances. He is a vampire in trouble and she is a human who was taken from a town. This is a story of good vs evil. Multiple species working together such as shifters, vampires and humans. It is also a love story for Lucus and Annika. It is action packed. It is very steamy between the two characters. It also shows the way different species can bond over a common goal. I enjoyed reading it very much. The author did a great job with all the characters in this book. It made them feel very real. I would give this book more than 5 stars if possible.

Annika wakes somewhere strange to her and she is understandably scared. She escapes and runs while being pursued. Stumbling on a bunch of rags, she hesitates, realising it is someone in need of help. Lucas, needing blood took what was offered. He also realises she needs help and manages to get her to safety.

This is a tale with twists and turns, bad against good, werewolves vs humans and vampires. It gripped me from the beginning. It is not your traditional vampire story (or werewolf for that matter). Well written and I recommend this to others.

Ok.

I did enjoy this book & I did finish it but for me it dragged & was slow going. Maybe it was just me but I really struggled to get through. I love Vampire books but other than several references, you would not know that Lucas is a Vampire. It started where he was badly injured & begging for blood but no explanation as to how ( what we all believe in) a big strong Vampire was over powered & left for dead. He never went out to feed & at the end, the sun was shining on his face. Annika was at his village to look for a missing person but was he ever found? I do have the next book & I will read it but I am not in a hurry to do so.

If you’re looking for an amazing read, this is the book for you written by a very talented author. I have read several books by this author, and if you like this gentry, you will not be let down. It was a definite page Turner a must read for anybody that loves this gentry and I would highly recommend it to everyone. Looking forward to book 2 it had a terrific storyline, amazing characters and fantastic world building. What’s not to like about a sexy vampire in a very amazing story.

She was just trying to hunt down one missing man. And found another, who will come to mean much more to her. Great start to this series!

There was way too much exposition/ narrative, FOR ME. I think that novels are best moved forward with action and dialog, but that's just my preference.

The writing was good, and set a suspenseful vibe early on, but when I find myself skimming and skipping before I'd fully completed the first page, well...it's time to move on to something that will hold my attention.

To fans of vampire romance, give this a shot - it might be right up your (dark) alley!

Investigating into Fate

When Annika is investigating a disappearance, she finds herself face-to-face with Lucas in need of blood. From the moment she saved him, their connection was strong. The lives of many creatures are dependent upon their alliance and bond, which was an unexpected delight. This was an intriguing read to a new series. I am looking forward to the next one.

Annika goes into a town that is lawless. She is looking for a man who went missing and ended up in a strange place where she is locked into a room. She gets herself free and running from something. She takes a turn into an alley and finds a person beaten and almost dead. She realizes he is a vampire and she offers her blood so he can live. Little did she know how much blood it would take to heal him. She passes out and he takes care of her. She joins the resistance with him against the wolves who are stealing humans and vampires alike. They are making them into slaves. They really want her vampire, Lucas. He has a magical weapon they want. How will they survive? Will they make it? Will she get home to see her mom?

Vampire Bite Book 1 of Vampire Bite by Nikki Grey is a good start to a compelling new vampire series with a strong female lead. I really enjoyed the story and I look forward to reading the next book in the series.
