WILL YOUR STORY END HERE?

Just when it looked like Chris Prince was about to give England the lead, Isagi slid in and stopped the ball a hair's breadth from the goal. Fired up by the roaring crowd, Isagi now prepares a furious counterattack...only for his teammate Yukimiya to steal the ball and all his momentum. Isagi may be desperate to score in the final minutes, but Yukimiya is racing against an even more daunting countdown: his failing eyesight. Can he keep his story going, or will this be the final chapter?

king raichi he loves gagamaru trustttt there's a reason gagamaru's cover is the volume right before raichi's!!

ALSO GUYS SOMEONE PLEASE CELEBRATE WITH ME MY LIBRARY HAS BLUE LOCK UP UNTIL LIKE VOLUME 35 OR SOMETHING SO I WON'T HAVE TO FIND A FISHY THIRD-PARTY PIRATING SITE TO READ!!!! YIPPEEEEE

this one is by far my longest blue lock review so far. i've kinda been holding back because who's gonna look at a pages-long essay, but omg character analyses with these characters is delicious.

oh my god. NEW-FUCKING-FOUND LEVEL OF RESPECT FOUND FOR YUKIMIYA. he's so complex thank god, at first so chill and easy-going, a charismatic multitalented athlete and model, but his bitterness and resentment rots his character as he blames others for his problems. he has faith and believes that god never gives you more than you can handle, but this is torn to shreds in front of him. he has so much internal dilemma and it really is "no more mr. nice guy" with him now.

and yet the former annoyance i had for his meddling towards isagi's affairs and completely uncalled-for hostility is now replaced with a sense of admiration. he calls isagi out for being a piece of shit like k**ser, self-absorbed and self-serving, uncaring about others' success. and yes, that is what an egoist ought to be, but for a sport you don't have to lose all your personality.

if the only ones who get rewarded are "clever" bastards like you two...then this world's messed up!

and there you have it, yukki. you are very right. (this is all exactly how i plan to characterize him in a fanfic i have semi-planned out)

but then again, yukimiya isn't very much the victim here. after all, he knowingly and willfully sabotaged his friendly-ish relationship with isagi, and it's only fair for isagi to snap back. a "masturbatory narcissist," he said to yukimiya. slursagi isn't quite the victim either, and his spatial awareness/ability to read the field doesn't transfer quite well to self-awareness.

the fact that yukimiya called him out and he wasn't willing to admit to himself that yes, he does share some traits with the shitfucker k**ser. for someone so willing to acknowledge his own soccer-related shortcomings, isagi has sure left behind a lot of his normal human traits in a suitcase back home.

blue lock is stripping these boys down, removing their humanity, leaving only behind an ego and a shred of bone-rattling grief.

ego (and kaneshiro), damn you.

update 2!!
okay isagi got some self-awareness. i love this bit about stories and protagonists, how isagi realizes that him and yukki have run into conflict from their clashing egos, clashing dreams. ah, i love stories that talk about stories and protagonists, it makes me think of omniscient reader every time. this volume so far is phenomenal.

update 3
THE YUKIMIYA/ISAGI CHARACTER/RELATIONSHIP ARC IS. FUCKING. PHENOMENAL. I HAVEN'T BREATHED NORMALLY SINCE THE END OF CHAPTER 199 (finally in the 200s!). I NEED TO RAAAAVE ABOUT THIS ONCE I HAVE TIME (i'm not free today at all lol).

THANK YOU KANESHIRO YOU'RE EVIL BUT OMFG THIS IS WHAT I LIVE FOR OMFGOGMOFGMOFGMOFMGOGMOMGOMGOMGOM ILY YUKKI ILY ISAGI ILYILYILYYY

update 4
omg how tf do people see whatever k**ser does to ness and go "awww they're so good together!" like genuinely how the fuck.

anyways this is chock-full of character study material for my fic, i should reread this or smth. i feel like i have the characters down really nicely in my head, and this is easily one of my current faves of the series. absolutely amazing. i almost wanna buy it (but then i'd have to buy the rest of the books too. ummm no)

هیجانش دوباره رفت بالا و خوندنی شد و راضیم کرد. ولی باید یه فکری واسه این پازل حل کردن‌های ایساگی بکنه. خیلی ریتم داستان رو خراب می‌کنه.

Unbelievable match scenes and the market value of each player brings so much novelty in this already magnificent manga series.

predictable, and yet somehow it still made absolutely no sense. if kaneshiro wants me to believe the entire world is obsessed with isagi, he should probably spend more time actually developing him.

That match was pretty crazy, especially that last bit. Kaiser is a douchebag but that's nothing new. I still can't help but like him thoo >_< also I don't think I mentioned it before but the panels are fucking insane. Geniuenly, some action series don't reach this level, so respect

Vol 23; Isagi's Masterclass, Insane Tension, and Goals That Had Me Writhing in Heated Desperation, Inhaling the Heady Scent of Youthful, Testosterone-Laden Alphas
(⸝⸝⸝> ▵ <⸝⸝⸝)

Just as amazing as ever—and then some! This volume delivered an absolutely masterful goal from Isagi, proving once again that he’s an absolute beast. He just keeps evolving, and I am living for it. But let’s talk about the tension—Isagi vs. Yukki, Isagi vs. Kaiser… OMG, the intensity! (a long moan escapes my lips)

The pacing? Absolutely insane. I swear I just opened the book, blinked once, and suddenly I was at the last page!! The game's flow is so fluid and dynamic that it feels like witnessing it unfold in real time. Every moment brims with action, strategy, and just the right touch of exhilarating, over-the-top drama.

Would I recommend this? Absolutely. To BL fans (Blue Lock), BL fans (Boys Love), and sports manga enthusiasts alike. Blue Lock continues to deliver, and I’m savoring every moment of it.These young men have my omega heart spiraling into an agonizing heat, utterly consumed by their presence...

My brain keeps wanting to keep calling Chris PRINCE Chris PINE and I don't know what to do about.

Also, Kaiser, that save you did in the last panel was amazing, but now MY head hurts.

I’m not sorry to say 7 years are added to my lifespan every time Isagi tells someone to shut the hell up, move out of his goddamn way, or to straight up eat shit. especially people who try to intimidate or threaten him. I eat up Isagi’s roasts and taunts every single time.

I think it’s interesting that Ego mentions that Nagi’s goal with Reo’s help in the last volume and the first goal which Yukimiya missed, were both flukes and that in the long run would not be beneficial because they could not be replicated ever again. Something which Isagi caught on to right away in the last volume. He even said to ReoNagi directly right after their goal, “A goal like that was built on things like ‘springtime of youth’” that no more miracles would happen again. and none did thanks to his quick judgment. He read them like a book.

While Isagi does need backup to get him to closer to score and cannot get there on his own, he is able to reproduce the same types of goals with his formulas, even when the method or trajectory of getting there and his trio formation is what changes. We saw he went from Bachira and Nagi, to Rin and Nagi, and now to Kurona and Noel in this match. He is consistent in that his goals are no longer dumb luck, he is constantly thinking, analyzing, and calculating every single detail on the court- even more so since he understood how to use meta-vision. While he continues to expand this new piece of the puzzle, he also needs to improve his body to keep up with the plays he wants to do as he himself notes often. He can imagine how to make it happen but at the level his physical body is at, it can’t keep up. Hopefully we see that improvement soon so he can be a real beast out on the field. He’s already, in terms of strats and logics, THE absolute goat. Him giving Yukimiya is moment to shine after giving him the Barou treatment… I can respect it, bro needed that W.

I just want to say, Isagi absolutely manhandling Kaiser and saying, “How’s that, Kaiser? How does it feel to be the clown of my story?” was everything to me, especially after Kaiser had spent the last couple volumes acting all high and mighty invading his personal space and ruining Isagi’s near goals (I’m still mad about that). Isagi, I am your number 1 fan for that, even more after Isagi basically shut off Ness’s bullshit with, “Looks like Kaiser’s stupid lackey couldn’t understand my last play. Should I dumb it down for you, little boy?” he’s fucking ruthless LMFAO 💀

I also must mention this manga never gets boring (even as I reread matches I’ve already experienced before). I get so hyped for every match and I love that I have absolutely no idea where it’s headed. I think I have it figured out and then it goes in a direction I never would have guessed, like Isagi’s last back-heel pass to Yukimiya. It’s quite impossible for me to not get invested and excited reading this.

Anyway, I miss Bachira, Rin, and surprisingly also Shidou, bro was insane but I can’t say he wasn’t a fun time with all his shenanigans.

reread 3.25
what's really crazy is that this is the most boring of all the NEL matches. i just didn't know what was coming for me. it's harder to read about characters that don't get much more development in this arc (Yukimiya, Reo, Nagi, etc) but Kaiser is still perfect.

This match was WILD

Everyone needs to stop being mean to Kaiser because he is literally perfect; I wish I actually cared about Isagi winning; Nagi and Reo that's the tweet

The fact that everyone steals goals from each other and risk so many plays has me stressed!! like I get it, all y'all wanna be strikers, cool. You still have to win though! I'm not the biggest Kaiser fan but when he admits that Isagi gets the better of him its admirable. The ending was too intense!

This was crazily amazing
Meta vision of Isagi and his masterplan was the absolute best. I don’t want this to end 😭 I know more chapters will come out but this is too good to finish all volumes today.

Also I love how Isagi and Kaiser are at each other’s throats 🤣

I hated that Nagi went back to Reo and not thinking for himself again. He was evolving sm but I think this will get in his way now. Even though Reo finally got his dream back to play with Nagi and support him, this will only bring both of them down. They are biting more than they can chew.

I miss Bachira and Chigiri already 😭 but I am also excited to see how Isagi will de crown Kaiser 100% on his own as he said.

I love the progress everyone went through
KEEP THOSE CHAPTERS COMING!!!!!!!

5/5.

Absolutely incredible conclusion to the match. This volume was really about Isagi pushing his new abilities to the next level and Yukimiya's struggle to make himself known. I wasn't sure how the author would resolve it but I think he did it in the best possible way. Fantastic. Can't wait to read the next match.
