Sometimes I'm a hero. Sometimes I'm a wanderer. Sometimes I'm a lover. But above all, I'm always a survivor.
The end of the world brought with it the System, and the end of life as I knew it. The integration of Earth into the Arcadia Multiverse proceeds at a slow and steady pace, but events abroad continue to draw my attention. My allies in the Dragon Lodge and Samhain Clan need me once again, this time for a campaign on the distant world of Ladwick.
This crusade against invading cultivators who seek to destroy the System brings with it great danger, but also great opportunity. Above all, it brings the opportunity to learn secrets I wasn't meant to know.
This place my world is being integrated into is not as it should be. And I think I can figure out why.
If I play my cards right, I can ensure Crownhill, all my loyal subjects, and the many loves of my life, are all integrated into a bright new world. But if I fail, it might just cost me my soul.
I put off reading this one for a while because I've been enjoying the series so much that I didn't want to reach the (current) end. Thankfully, Amazon Apocalypse 6 is already in the works.
This was another good story. I enjoyed the epic battles and the exposure we get to the world outside of the system. As the series grows, so too does the universe.
I was a little disappointed with the reduced presence of Sakura, Bridget and the Samhain sisters. I understand that as the cast continues to grow, there will be less pages dedicated to those characters who were more prominent in earlier volumes, but it still is a shame that they were relegated to mostly off screen issues.
Nevertheless, I enjoyed this entry on the whole and can't wait to continue. I would have given this book a 4.5 out of 5 but for the spelling and grammar mistakes that somehow seem to have made it past the editor. I can forgive two or three mistakes but I think that there were too many for me to overlook this time.
4.5 stars. A few more PoV shifts than I really like, and wife #1 is still a knucklehead, but I enjoyed it, so it gets rounded up. The menage is getting pretty big though, so hopefully that gets reined in. Big expansion in scope at the end of this one, so we'll see what #6 brings.
A fun addition to the series. I felt this volume had a good amount of progression as we move on to the next arc of the integration. Looking forward to next book.
I like the way the writer makes the story flow. However, he spends much of his time on personal quests and leaves his harem behind. Also there is a lot of talk about his working to level his skill as Artificer. Also I get confused when Craig spends much time in different time dilation zones. So from winning the tournament he gets to lead the Dragon Lodge auxiliary division in the upcoming crusade. Cyra was supposed be leading to since her brother will be running the crusade. The auxiliary being mages is untrained in any military tactics, but luckily he has a mercenary, and his wife Myrina to help bring them in line because he spends all of his time while they are training improving himself and completing side quests for the system. I became confused, supposedly he spent a whole week in the Samhain family library looking for skill books for when he breaks into level B. While Cyra spent the week sparing nonstop (no sleep, eating, or bathroom breaks - I don't know about the bathroom breaks) sparing with her grandmother. These are my little grips. For the most part I really enjoyed the book and how things came together in the end. He does add to his harem the female wizard pictured on the cover of the last book and a cultivator whom he meets during the crusade. The book leaves with the knowledge that there is one more book in the series. The Goddess Jade is pictured on the cover.
I really want to like this series, but it keeps getting more absurd by the book. The amount of OP power-scaling the author is throwing at the MC is nuts. If you like to let your inner chunni run rampant while self-inserting into a book, this series has you covered.
When the book starts, the MC is short of reaching B-grade, or level 200. By the end of the book, he is almost all the way through B-grade to A-grade, which requires level 400. He gains close to if not more than 200 levels in a single book. All of this while the system/author hands out new skills and absurdly OP abilities like a creepy guy trying to lure a kid into his van with candy. And since while turning into a B-grade he selected as his race upgrade the ability to become a god, it's even more crazy.
Two women join the harem. One is expected, the other is someone introduced in this book as an enemy. Neither did anything for me, and yet they take up a majority of the book's "screen time" when he actually has harem members with him. Which he often doesn't, as that would get in the way of him doing everything himself.
I really liked this series when it started, but I have become disillusioned by it as it keeps going. Which stinks, because there are some great plot points still to unfold that I want to see. I might just skim future books.
I'm really enjoying the series, and this book is no exception. Though it might be a harem series and novel, it still feels more like a normal system/magic Apocalypse Series and very in-depth one at that. They're in the components bar. Not over the top and in this book. Even not too many in-depth, sexy time scenes. This works for me as I enjoy this genre. This particular book has the MC's power accelerating, and he spends more and more time off world, but he is going up in tier. He is learning more about the system itself and how to fix parts of it. Seems the system might need a mechanic. And he might be working his way into the position. This book is pretty big and you certainly get your money's worth. There are no shortcuts to the end of the series. I'm looking forward to the next book eagerly. Unfortunately, it seems I will have somewhat of a wait, but I'm sure it'll be worth it.
After taking a long hiatus from the series, I was delighted to get back into this one. Lots of funny writing and the whole setting is very interesting. The author doesn't let the book get bogged down in the sex scenes, which is very refreshing. I tend to avoid books over 400 pages like the plague but the 800+ here went by fairly unnoticed. One of the things I like about this series is that, despite the breakneck progression pace the author lets the characters linger at each level of power a bit. Lots of books in this style spend too much time chasing levels and end up blowing through the whole process until there's nothing left to fight. This one spends a lot more time looking at other sources of power.
Anyway, recommend and looking forward to the next one.
Went back and looked over my reviews of the previous books and I gave them all 3 stars. I think I'll have a reread at some point to see what changed about my opinions.
Wasn't sure of what to expect from this next chapter of Amazon Apocalypse 5, but you succeeded in entertaining your readers by far margin. I was pleasantly along for the ride from the very beginning. I found myself sinking deeper and deeper into the story as each page turned as the chapters continued to rise in numbers. The next book I am holding high expectations for because as the legend of Carter grows so does his harem, family, friends and enemies. I definitely don't want to miss what comes next. I will end here before I let any secrets slip that might ruin the story for the other readers, but I will say this: Marvin Knight, thank you for sharing your talents with us readers and just know we look forward to what you have in store next for Carter and Crew. 🙏
The MC levels mightily, as he goes on campaign with his bro-in-law and Amazon wives. They fight against cultivators, heratics and even chaos gods, while backstabbing political appointees try to sabotage their efforts. Lots of twists and turns with spell casting, magi tech, cultivation and arcane artificing. The MC even has time for some hanky panky with some new GF's.
The story is well written and the different forms of magic, system integration, cultivation and the addition of heritics keep the story very lively and engaging. Some of the MC's upgrades are just sooooo OP, yet A-grades are even more ridiculously OP.
Honestly this has got all the things I love rolled together and it works. :D
We got dragons, a system that also has a bit of personality and is interacted with, levels and stats that progress in a fulfilling way, plenty of awesome leveled abilities, we’ve got gods and a possible new one ;) and hell even a competent MC with well written side characters and relationships.
Just absolutely Lovin it! Can’t wait for the next one.
In this book, we see Carter march to war. As part of winning the tournament in the previous book, Carter is set to lead a mage corp to supplement the main defending force getting sent off world. We see Carter prep, go to war and deal with the aftermath. There is also the pesky integration on Earth to deal with. Promises from book 1 to keep as well.
Overall, I enjoyed this entry. We do get to see some of the abilities of more advanced users in the System and Beyond. There is some setup for future volumes.
This series has been a joy to read since book one!!! The adventures have been entertaining with humor and intrigue on every page!!! The author has stayed true to their characters and world building which makes the flow of the story so enjoyable too read!!!
Just like the tile said, I really enjoyed the book. Characters are always fun, new powers and abilities are super enjoyable, and I'm a big fan of his interaction with the other characters. Stoked to read book 6, hopefully it comes out soon enough. Would recommend this series for anyonr looking into it.
Man this was a thrill to read. In my opinion this book was the best out of the series as we see Carter getting stronger than ever, growing his harem, getting into more trouble and finally proceeding with earths shard integration
I don't know how, but this series continues to get better book after book, similar to the Paladin series. This author has a nak for pushing further even when everything thing is already crazy. I'm all for it, and i can't wait for the next one!
This book was amazing from start to finish. So much happens that I thought this might be the last book. Luckily that isn't the case. There are so many more things I want to see happen. I can't wait for the next book.
This book builds up the world a lot. The plot is exciting and ties many old plot threads in. The romance takes a backseat for most of the book but is still present and fun.
Have been a fan of this author from his other series and have to say I think that this series is even better. Can’t wait for book 6 and hoping that there are many more to come.
Excellent action, plot and character development. Now just have to wait until another #6 book comes out. Even though I am not a gamer I have enjoyed reading the books.
