"The Highlander's Temptation" is Eliza Knight's latest release in the Stolen Brides series. This book is a prequel to the entire series so you can definitely read this one first. Of course, I read all of the books in order and that is just fine as well. This book takes up the story of Jamie and Lorna, a couple whose love is very much firmly entrenched by the time the first book in the series opens.

I really liked the love story between Jamie and Lorna. In the first book in this series, they are very much secondary characters but the way that Knight wrote them, you definitely find yourself wanting to know more about their relationship so I was glad for this book so I could see how it all unfolded myself.

One thing that I have liked in the previous books and this book as well is how Knight was able to mix love, history, and a good dose of hotness in these books. It really made for a good read. I love reading about Scotland during this time period when it was going through so many changes and big personalities like William Wallace were around. Yes, these books are light but you might just learn a little something from them as well.

I have enjoyed this series very much and found this book to be a really good prequel to see where all of these love stories started. This book and really the whole series are perfect books to read when you're looking for a romance to relax with!

I started reading this book in a boxed set only to realize that I have read it in, yet another boxed set. But I recall the story soon enough. It is amazing how you remember little details about a book.

Cut to the chase, heart of the matter, the book is predictable. Standard plots with characters all too amiable with each other. I do not like when the lead characters are constantly fighting with each other. God no, better amiable characters with constant conflicts. But I do prefer a little more grits between the leads than this book. Jamie and Lorna fell in love rather quickly and the relationship is all too sweet. Obstscles are there alright. But Jamie and Lorna were just IN LOVE. And the story was about how they fought with everyone else to be together. Strangely enough I have read other books where lead characters are just so smitten with each other but I don't know......something is missing in Jamie and Lorna's story for me. I think it is the fact that they had very little reconciliation to do with themselves. It didn't take them long to fall in love, or to fall in love at all. They were just there, they met and they were in love. It happened in 1 second. That was early in the book too. I was then left to muddle through the book, reading about how they longed to be together and were kept apart and fought to be together and oh did I mention that they wanted to be together?

This is not to say this is a poor book. I liked Ms Knight's writing. The book reads well. A pleasant read if you like to read about people who are devoted to each other from the beginning and never had to reconcile with themselves about how they feel for the other person. I look forward to Ms Knight's other works, even thought she writes books that are just a tad shorter than how I like my books to be. But the boxed set should help me ignore that. :D

This was a very well written historical romance it had all my favorite elements set in beautiful Scotland,A strong female lead and a hero who loved and fought for his heroine. A strong supporting cast of secondary characters who will appear in the later books of this series there is even an appearance from William Wallace himself. Lorna and Jamie's story is a tale of forbidden love as Lorna is already betrothed even if she has never met her intended husband. Her brother Magnus who is her guardian is one of those characters i don't know if i like or not although he does have his good points.I can't say a lot more without giving away spoilers but i thoroughly enjoyed this tale and it set up the series very well and i look forward to reading the next one.Would recommend to all Scottish and historical romance fans.re read this as i plan to read the rest of the series, loved it just as much second time around.

Fate has a way of rearing it's head when least expected. As a youngster, traveling with his father, Jamie Montgomery and his clan come upon an attack on a family and Jamie saves a young girl of four, Lorna. Years later as Jamie has become laird, he travels to gather troops for William Wallace to fight the English. He meets a lovely grown up Lorna and a strong attraction comes to life. But things are never simple and forces want to keep them apart. As their attraction grows and they are forbidden to be together, that only makes them more determined. Will they be able to defy everyone including Lorna's brother who has plans for her? Eliza Knight captures the essence of the times and brings the characters to life in this fast paced story. I cannot wait to read the rest of this series!!

What a wonderful story. As a young lad, Jamie rescue a tiny fair maiden, by the name of Lorna. As he matures, he has never forgotten her. When Jamie arrives at her home, Lorna senses she should know him, but does not. Jamie is attempting to acquire men and funds to fight the English invasion. As the two interact, they fall in love, but Lorna's brother has another idea. This book is a good read. The two main characters are wonderful. The twists are well planned and flow with the overall story line. So glad to know that this is a series-can't wait to read them.

"The Highlander's Temptation" is part of the "Stolen Bride" series by Eliza Knight. I'm not much of a historical reader, but I found myself enjoying this book. I liked the characters and the time setting of it. Lorna has been promised to a man since she was young. Only she doesn't love that man. She and Laird Jamie have feelings for each other, and Lorna's brother will do whatever he has to do to keep them away from each other. I am a sucker for a good love story, and Eliza did such a wonderful job writing that story. I liked how Lorna did not give up on what she wanted in life. I also liked the couple of different twists that happened in the book. I will definitely be reading on in this series.

I was weaned on Highlander books. That's all I read until bikers books became known to me lol.
I decided lately to go back to my roots and see if they still captured my imagination as they did before. I was so glad I started with Eliza's book. I was brought right back to clan life and the alpha men who protect them. The fight for the freedom of their country but also for the women they love. This book had a little of everything mixed together. A hunky hero and feisty heroine. Well worth a read!

Jaime Montgomery watched in horror as a little girl ran away, his only thought was to protect her. At fourteen he knew death happened but this was wrong, no one should see their parents killed.

Lorna Sutherland just wanted to hide from the bad, evil men knowing that if she stayed it would be her death too. Seeing her parents and brother slaughtered was too much, at age four, so she ran.

Magnus Sutherland is now the new pairs at age thirteen with two brothers and two sisters to look after. Life will never be the same.

Fifteen years later the war with Longshanks is battling the Scottish countryside. Men are needed for their freedom. Jaime is the new Laird Montgomery and tasked to go North for more men and supplies to fight.

Lorna has enjoyed a free childhood to be herself even at the vexation of her aunt Fiona and brother Magnus. She loves to ride her horse Angel and be herself.

Jaime catches her unaware outside the castle walls which takes her back to that fearful night. Can she make it back in time, but then he tells her she is safe from harm. She can't place him but he knows her.

One kids is all it takes and now she knows who is meant to be her husband. Magnus announced her betrothal to an unknown man soon to be a laird of his clan. Lorna rebels and the more she does the more her and Jaime are drawn together.

One wrong event and now Jaime is without her. Lorna stays in her chamber to protest Magnus' unwillingness to allow them to wed. When a joyous occurrence brings them the possibility of finally getting their wish. Will Magnus relent? Will Jaime and Lorna get their HEA?

With the witty, fearous, and stubborn characters added to the abundant description of the landscape and issues of the time you get the feeling of being right in the middle of all the action. This is one you will be right with all of the characters fighting for each of them.

Jaimie Montgomery as a young lad rescued and save a tiny fair haired five year old, Lorna Sutherland after her parents were ambushed and murdered. In the following years Jaimie has often remember the fair haired maiden.
Laird Jamie Montgomery is a warrior with a mission for William Wallace to recruit men, money and supplies for the rebel cause. He arrives at Laird Sutherland’s to request men and encounters his fair maiden Lorna again. Her brother has just informed Lorna she must marry and she’s resistant to her brother choosing her husband. Lady Lorna Sutherland can't resist Jaimie’s charms, he’s one irresistible Highlander. He never expected to find love and especially a woman he wanted to marry that is until he became reacquainted with Lorna. He has a mission and he has no time for a wife and family at this time in his life. Jaime and Lorna fall in love, there caught in a compromising position and he’s tossed off Sutherland land by Magnus, her brother, vowing they will never marry, but Jaimie and Lorna never give up. Their love is strong, they vow to never give up until they can be together. I loved these two strong willed characters, their passion for each other and for their country and family.
This is my honest opinions after I voluntarily read a copy of this book that was provided to me with no requirements for a review

Predictable action, adventure, and romance. I should have started with this read but it ended up being the last read of the series for me. It would have given me more work with if I would have read this one first. But would it have changed the way that I looked at the series. I love romance with highlanders. I love historical romances with highlanders. The medieval romance has a different kind of quality that can draw you in or push you away from the genre. I have been intrigued by Eliza Knights brand of medieval romance for a while. She has a way of telling the story that get you in. Even with it predictable nature. This series gives a history lesson and a romance during one of Scotland more trying times. We see how love and romance could have been during that time and we most certainly see the struggles of a family trying to keep it all together during a time that the land they love was being torn apart by greed, power, and selfishness.

I loved the story of Jamie and Lorna. Jamie is on a mission to unite the clans against the English. When he stops at the Sutherland stronghold he is reunited with Lorna Sutherland who he had rescued as a little girl. This is the story of them coming together and having to get past Lorna’s brother Magnus to be together. I have always loved Eliza’s books and love this one. This book is the prequel to the stolen brides series. I was excited to read this book and I thoroughly enjoyed it! I definitely recommend this book.

Laird Jamie Montgomery has been sent by William Wallace to try and raise troops and money to support his battles against the English. One of the most influential men around is Laird Sutherland, a man that Jamie met many years before.
Lady Lorna Sutherland is a feisty lass, always pushing the limits of her brother's patience. He has told her it's time for her to settle down and marry. He is threatening her with marriage to an old man.
Our heroines reckless behaviour could put her in real danger. There are Englishmen in the area.
Our hero is an honourable man with a difficult and political job to do. He should not be diverted by a beautiful woman.
A lovely highland romance with lots of twists and turns. Exciting battles, not always with the Enemy. Great characters that I know we will meet again.
I loved it.

Good story but...

This one is just so-so. It just slogged for me. Overall the storyline is very good, but it took me forever to get through it.

I luckily read Conquered by the Highlander, which is book 1 of the Conquered Brides series, first. I say luckily because had I read this book first, I'd never have read the other one. In this book, the h's brother is not only grumpy, but mean. He never tells his sister why he won't approve her choice of husband, but instead insists on his choice. Book 1 starts where this one ends, so I know how it will end, and I just couldn't wait to get there.

I wasn't fond of this story, but I really loved Conquered by the Highlander where this mean brother is the H. I liked his character so much better there.

The writing is good. Could use a little polish.

Jamie is the Montgomery Chief, friend and to William Wallace, member of Robert the Bruce’s council, and a very confident warrior.
Lorna is the sister of the Sutherland Chief , she’s outspoken and a feisty individual .
Originally meeting as youngsters when Jamie saves Lorna during an attack , one that leaves her parents dead , they meet as adults , and sparks begin to fly .
But circumstances are such that they cannot be together , she’s betrothed and he has a duty to the Scottish crown .
A great piece of writing, thoroughly enjoyable , and keeps you hooked in a story where the pace never lets up .

Captivating Story:
I hadn't read a book of Eliza Knights in a very long time. She has certainly improved over the years.
I found my self totally captivated by this story that was filled with sizzling attraction, heated passion, heartache, sadness and more. The first 3 chapters was a bit slow with some background details but it took off from there and didn't slow down. Jamie and Lorna were enjoyable to follow on their twisty journey of romance and finding their HEA.I miss an epilogue but this is a prequel but felt like an entire book. I think the series will be a good one. I hope there will be another book showcasing Magus the laird of the Sutherland.

So far, this has been my least favorite. Jamie is likeable and enjoyable, but I found Lorna to be EXHAUSTING for the majority of the story. Then again, not all personalities click, including between readers and characters and that's ok! I even ended up stopping and restarting the book, making it take 4 months to finish the book.

I may have felt differently about this story if I hadn't read some of the others first. Ultimately, it wasn't a bad story, but I knew how it ended, so I think that didn't help- though, to be fair, in most romance style books, you know the two characters will most likely end up together.

When she was 4, he became her hero....now 15 years later, he's back in her life and he becomes more than her hero. This was such a great read and I enjoyed it very much. Wonderful characters, lots of action and fast paced and the writing flows smoothly.

I loved Lorna's character, she's quite the spitfire and I also loved Jaimie's character, he's so honorable and brave. When circumstances brings them in contact again, they will discover a love that is strong and true but fate may have other plans.

I look forward to reading the rest of this series.

Emotion 7/10
Story: 6/10
Characters: 7/10
Interest: 7/10

"The Highlander's Temptation" is a sweet and steamy read.

What I did Like:
- No much angst
- No misunderstanding or third people actual drama
- The characters loyalty

What I did not Like:
- There were no actual plot twists except for the romance itself, which made it a little boring.

Overall, a good story, well written, with some steam, good characters and a HEA.

A little rough

Could have used better editing, and it really irks me when someone tries to include Gaelic with no understanding of it. I lost count of how many times I was subjected to "lèine shirt." What's Gaelic for shirt? Lèine! Why would you say "shirt shirt," fer cryin' out loud?! Argh. It was most weird to see William Wallace reduced to a minor character and raging hothead who most resembled a hard-drinking frat boy jock than a military genius.

Disappointed read

*** This review container a wee spoiler or two***
Really disappointed in this read! Laird Jamie didn't fit my imagination or beliefs of what a Scottish highlander would be like or act like. He wasn't super alpha, he didn't respect Laird Magnus or really lady Lorna by kissing and deflowering her before being wed. Don't even get me started on the fact she was betrothed to another AT THE TIME! (regardless it wss arranged or not, it still counts!) No real historically added content or descriptions of Scotland to draw the reader in. All in all not a fan nor will I continue on with this series. Free read thank goodness!

could not get into

This is the second book I read from this author. I read the first book in the series and thought something was missing. It filled in the gaps that I didn’t understand but also created new ones. My guess is that the author overlaps books and series. I looked up the proper reading order but it was not helpful. Did not feel the chemistry with this couple.

He was Temped

A war is going in the Lowlands of Scotland Jamie Montgomery and his two friends were heading to the Highlands to ask for any kind support. His first stop is at Dubrobin. This was where he saved a four year old from being killed. I really enjoyed reading this book.

Disgusting! A 29yo has no business having a relationship with a 19yo! Eliza Knight is not a historian and so no matter if grown men married girls then it is not necessary nor romantic to have such an age gap canyon in a modern book. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS PEDOPHILE BS!

I love reading stories about the Scottish Lads and how they win over their wives to be. This was a typical story of one laird finding his true love and having to fight in some way to get her to be his.
