Dr. Kent M. Keith created the Paradoxical Commandments as part of a book he wrote for student leaders in the 1960s when he was an undergraduate at Harvard. People began sharing the commandments, putting them up on their walls and including them in speeches, books, and articles. The commandments spread around the world until millions of people had used them. When Dr. Keith learned that Mother Teresa had put a copy of the commandments up on the wall of her children's home in Calcutta, he began writing about the commandments again. His first book, The Paradoxical Commandments, became a bestseller and was translated into 17 languages.
Do It Anyway expands on Dr. Keith's first book by helping readers to incorporate the commandments into their daily lives. The book includes forty stories of people who live the commandments every day, providing specific examples as well as exercises, exploratory questions, and encouragement to live the Paradoxical Life. The book concludes with an interview with Dr. Keith during which he answers the questions that he has been asked most often about the commandments.
