This book was really really good in helping me feel validated and understood in my struggle with PMDD. It is one of the loneliest and saddest diagnosis’ ever. Rachel did a great job connecting with her readers. There were a few sections in the last couple of chapters that I either didn’t resonate with or skimmed over but for the most part, I highlighted soooooo many things in this book. It’s nice to know I’m not alone. 💔

As someone who has struggled with PMDD, From Cursed to Cured by Rachel Lynn Fox was an emotional and validating read that felt like a lifeline. For too long, those of us suffering from PMDD have been told that our only options are birth control, antidepressants, or just pushing through the pain. But Fox challenges that narrative, offering a fresh and deeply personal perspective that not only informs but empowers.

What makes this book stand out is its holistic approach. Fox doesn’t just discuss symptoms—she dives into the emotional and subconscious roots of PMDD, making connections that many of us have felt but couldn’t fully articulate. Her discussion of Rapid Transformational Therapy (RTT) is fascinating, offering a new lens through which to view healing. While not every method will resonate with everyone, the book provides hope that PMDD doesn’t have to be a lifelong sentence.

Fox’s personal journey is raw and relatable, and I deeply appreciated the mix of science, spirituality, and practical tools she shares. Instead of feeling like another medical textbook, From Cursed to Cured reads like a conversation with someone who truly understands what it’s like to live with PMDD.

For anyone who has ever felt dismissed, hopeless, or exhausted from the monthly battle, this book is a must read. It’s not just about managing PMDD—it’s about reclaiming our lives.

From honeymoon to explosion

As someone who has witnessed family members go through exactly what Rachel describes, this book struck a powerful chord with me. Just when things seem stable, everything can shift in an instant. As an outsider watching loved ones endure these challenges, I often felt helpless. I wish I had this information when I was younger; it would have helped me understand their struggles and offer more meaningful support. She also highlights how crucial a support system is for those with PMDD. For anyone looking to support a loved one with this condition, the book underscores the importance of patience, open communication, and validation. This is an essential read for anyone affected by PMDD, whether directly or indirectly. It’s a story of resilience, hope, and empowerment that sheds light on a condition that too often goes misunderstood.

Illness can wreak havoc not only on your body, but your emotional health as well. Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder not only affects your body, it can cause mental discomforts. This book is a holistic approach that deals with the whole person, not just the physical symptoms. I think it is so important to look at the whole picture. We live in a society that tries to treat the signs without actually looking at the root cause. The author takes this into consideration. She explains the different phases of menstruation and the hormonal changes that happens within each one. Then, she offers ways to embrace them and deal with various situations. She incorporates mindfulness into it. Overall, this is an interesting read.

I wasn't familiar with what PMDD was originally but when I started reading about it, I was so surprised I didn't know about it before. I definitely learned new stuff from this book. Although I think "cursed" is a strong word, I can see how PMDD is truly challenging. This approach on dealing with it is interesting to say the least, moving away from traditional methods and embracing root cause healing. Although it may not be for everybody, I still think it's worth a ready. I can see how a book like this can provide a lending hand to those that need support on this topic; they can really benefit from it.

By recounting her own life long struggles with PMDD, and sharing wisdoms and thoughts from various researched articles and publications, the author helps in demystifying this women-related condition, helping them live a more manageable life. I liked the way how the author explained the menstrual cycle by associating them with seasons and moon cycle for greater clarity. She also poses multiple questions and scenarios to help her readers identify their disabling traits and provides solutions to overcome and manage them. Overall it's a great resource for every women and also for men who wants to enjoy a clearer picture of the women in their lives and how they can help them.

"From Cursed to Cured" is not just another list of symptom hacks, but a real-deal roadmap to untangling the mess of PMDD. I love how the author is not about slapping a “just take this pill” band-aid on things. She actually helps you dig into the why behind the chaos, the unmet needs, stuffed-down emotions, all that fun stuff. Bonus? The free RESTORE program, aka your cheat codes for putting it all into action. We’re talking meditations, workbooks, the whole toolkit. All in all, this isn’t a “fix me in 5 days” gimmick. Worth exploring, if you ask me.

This started out helpful in the sense that it made me feel like I wasn't alone in my experiences. For someone who is maybe first hearing of PMDD, it may be perfect. To me, it felt like this could have been a single blog post.

The information is very repetitive and much of it just reiterates what women already know and deal with within the medical system. It kind of felt like when you have a minimum word count for an essay that's due this week, so you just find different ways to repeat yourself until you have enough words.

I think my expectations were too high or wrong, although the information in it is all valuable and good for PMDD I had hoped for new information or insights - and what the book is about (trauma therapy, facing your demons and improving your self-image, acceptance) is what I have been working on for a long time. For me the book did not add much but if you are not yet familiar with it it can certainly broaden your view of the condition.

I can't believe that I read that something that naturally happens to a woman is looked at as a curse. The book taught me that the concept of PMDD was something new to me I only knew about PMS. It provides me with education on how I can use a natural alternative on treating this severe condition. The word needs to be spread so readers can be well informed.
