Wolf Bound

I am nothing, a freak to every supernatural race, and I’m fine with that.
I hide, blending in while in mixed company, but when I find myself surrounded by wolves, something changes.

They poke and prod, making it clear I am not welcome in their pack, even though I never asked to be. All I want is to be left alone, so I can graduate and spend the rest of my life hiding among the humans who don’t know any better, who can’t smell the void that surrounds me.

But they won’t let me, and I’m falling too deep, forming friendships and bonds I never dared to dream of. And now that I no longer want to leave this place, or them, I may not have a choice.

Too bad for him this voice inside my head won’t go down without a fight, and with mysteries lurking in every shadow and pressure coming to a head, I wonder…is this where my story truly begins?

Wolf Bound is book one in the Forest Falls series, an NA paranormal why-choose romance with MM. Please see inside for content warnings.

Debut novel with a bite

Come meet Kara who is an anomaly in the supernatural community. Her mother is a witch but she is not. She also doesn't know anything about her father. Now her mother and stepfather have moved their family into a wolf packs territory.

The Alpha of the pack wasn't able to stop the family moving in but he will be putting it on his son Merrin to make the family want to leave.

Tay and Seb will be Merrin's Beta's when he takes over the pack. These boys have been best friends all their lives and it makes sense to them. The current Beta is very upset about the need for two Beta's when it has never been needed before. He thinks it makes his son a failure and this causes a big falling out that pushes Tay and Seb together more than ever before.

As the boys set in to torment the new girl they find that their wolves are not as on board as they should be. The girl is pretty but that shouldn't matter especially since she isn't a wolf.

The more the boys discover the more questions they find. However, even Kara doesn't have the answers they may be needing.

I am super excited to see what happens next. Some of it is obvious but I'm super interested in knowing about the answers to those important questions. Nothing is quite as it seems.

Congratulations Kyla and I need the rest of this story immediately. LOL

⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2 🌶️
FMC doesn’t belong, she’s different from all other paranormals. When her mom and step dad move for work and ask to live on packlands for the first time she is taken in as a best friend from the packs outsider, and she finds her love interests. My biggest complaint is that this book ends on a cliffhanger.

Enjoyable read

Well written, a couple typos but not bad. Really like the main character and their group. Definitely will read the second book when it comes out but you can read this book as a standalone. No major cliffhanger.

A debut novel that leaves its mark! This book weaves mystery, teen angst, and the ever-present struggle between love and duty. While there are some mature themes, the overall tone feels more like young adult fiction, with strong elements of found family and the tension between old and new generations. The beginning starts off a bit slow, but once the story picks up, the tension and stakes keep building, making it hard to put down.

I loved the MMCs, each distinct and well-developed. One of my favorite aspects of books with multiple love interests is when we get multiple POVs, and Wolf Bound delivers. Each MMC has his own storyline, conflicts, and goals, making their perspectives engaging and well-balanced. Despite the characters being 17-18, they feel mature in how they handle conflict and communication—something I truly appreciated, especially since the story avoids the common miscommunication trope, even when it could have easily fallen into it.

Kara, the FMC, was my least favorite character, mostly because she’s frustratingly slow to recognize what’s right in front of her. At times, her reactions felt forced or out of character. However, the final chapters hint at significant growth, and I have hope that the next book will further develop her arc—so for now, I’m giving her the benefit of the doubt.

The book is set in a small town surrounded by forests, with a paranormal undercurrent involving wolf shifters, witches, fae, and vampires. While the worldbuilding remains light, the supernatural elements provide an intriguing backdrop, particularly with Kara’s unique situation—born into a witch family but lacking magic, and seemingly not supernatural at all. This makes her a target within the wolf shifter pack she unexpectedly becomes entangled with. I have a feeling the paranormal aspects will take on a greater role in the next book, and I’m eager to see how it unfolds.

Kyla Birch’s writing flows well, making it easy to get lost in the story. While Wolf Bound ends on a cliffhanger, I really enjoyed the journey so far and can’t wait to see what happens next!

Wolf bound

Book one in series. Predictable cliffhanger. This is a pnr, wolf shifters and witches, potential reverse harem, with possible mates. Very YA, no burn. In this world it is taboo for members of different species to produce children, resulting in the eradication of bloodlines as punishment. That seems very harsh, but ... Our heroine was raised by a loving single witch mother until she marries another witch several years ago. Her mother refuses to discuss her birth father and her birth, mysteriously, wasn't registered for five years. She is now 18, registered as a magicless witch and the family moved into a wolf shifter community so her step father can study the decrease in birthrates. He has secrets, and is turning into an annoying obstructive parental figure. She finally makes friends with a group of shifters, several of whom have wolves that find her attractive. Their humans resist and accuse her of using witch magic to beguile them. Although well edited, this remains a very basic adolescent novel. There is mystery so book two might reveal some answers, but the characters will need to grow up to make it a rh.

Having read many wolf/shifter books over the years I always love when I come across a fresh idea on their society and dynamics. Having never read a polyamory romance I went in with an open mind.
The characters are well developed and honestly I’m so invested in each of them individually and can’t wait for the next one (seriously I could have jumped straight into book 2).
The descriptions and world building fully drew me into it and kept me reading at a fast pace I was so upset when I realised it was nearly finished.
I definitely recommend for anyone who loves this genre! A fantastically unique story!

A Great Read

So very well written, it has not one but several slow burning love interests and the character development is second to none. You can’t help but want everyone to have a happy ending. And speaking of ending I was reading and tapping away and the page wouldn’t turn and I realized I had finished the book still craving more. Can’t wait for the next book

This book had me HOOKED. I couldn't put it down.

The story telling, relationship building and mysteries throughout we're fantastic. I was constantly wanting to uncover what Kara was as she just didn't fit in. The male MMCs are hot, and I can't wait for more of them!

This does end on a cliffhanger, and I can't wait to find out what happens next.

Really well written. The different relationships created amongst the friends had just enough depth for you to become invested in them. I loved the relationship between Tay and Seb and its natural growth before Kara was involved. It will be very interesting to see where the next book goes following this cliffhanger even though this cliffhanger was expected.

Enjoyable

This was an enjoyable read, a bit slow paced and Kara isn't always the brightest bulb on the box (not thinking the "deers" she keeps seeing could be wolves when she's living in ana exclusive wolf town), and the shift from enemies to friends was very jarring and fast.
