Would you like the long or the short version of my bio?
The short? You got it.
I write steamy gay romance books and I love it. I also love reading books. Books are everything.
How was that?
A little more detail? Gotcha.
I started writing my first stories when I was a teen…on a freaking typewriter. I still have these, and they’re adorably romantic. And bad, haha. Fear of failing kept me from following my dream to become a romance author, so you can imagine how proud and ecstatic I am that I finally overcame my fears and self doubt and did it. I adore my genre because I love writing and reading about flawed, strong men who are just a tad broken..but find their happy ever after anyway.
My favorite books to read are pretty much all MM/gay romances as long as it has a happy end. Kink is a plus… Aside from that, I also read a lot of nonfiction and not just books on writing. Popular psychology is a favorite topic of mine and so are self help and sociology.
Hobbies? Ain’t nobody got time for that. Just kidding. I love traveling, spending time near the ocean, and hiking. But I love books more.

I usually really enjoy a Daddy/boy romance so I'm not sure why this one didn't work as well for me.
Part if it, I think, is that unlike the other books in this series, Kenn and Warwick aren't involved in the investigations which provide the main thrust of the long running arc.
That meant that we were in other people's heads for a lot more of this book so we can catch up with development in the terrorism investigation.
Also, as the timeline overlaps slightly with the other books, we get an element of Seth and Coulson's story we've already seen in their book.
Put it all together and I just never totally connected with Kenn and Warwick as a pairing like I hoped I would.
Both of them are fully fleshed out characters and I felt so badly for Kenn, enough that I believed he would latch onto Warwick.
I'm just not sure I bought into his sudden realisation that he wanted to be Kenn's "Daddy" rather than just a loving partner.
There's way more telling instead of showing in this book and everyone it seemed got in on the conversation about whether they should have a relationship!
Some of it felt really awkward and stilted.
Still, there's good movement on the big plot and I'm guessing the President is going to be the subject of the next book, potentially with his new "body man".
Or possibly one of the CIA agents and the new forensic accountant. Either way things look like they're moving closer to discovering who's been behind all the attacks and why.
4 stars audio. Love John Solo but he is lousy with foreign accents. His attempt is super cringy.
2 stars story, because daddy kink, OTT sex talk and fisting!! Ugh! I give up on this series. 1, 2 and 3 were awesome because they didn't involve any form of kink.
I guess the best way to describe my feelings towards this book is that I'm disappointed.
I didn't like the romance for several reasons, the pacing didn't work for me at all and I feel like the deeper we get into the series, the harder it is for the book to balance the romance, the suspense plot and all the different characters.
Let's start with the romance. Initially, I was really excited about this book, because I liked Kenn as a character and I was excited to see him and Warrick navigate their relationship and exploring the Daddy/boy dynamic between them. I'm really sad to say that I didn't see them develope their relationship at all. I hate nothing more than books that TELL me how characters feel about each other, instead of showing me. I genuinely can't believe how many scenes this book had where Warrick and Kenn would talk to OTHER characters about their relationship, instead of showing the reader the actual relationship between them. At first there is Seth warning Warrick that Kenn is getting too attached to him. Then Warrick talks to the President about his friendship with Kenn, then there are Milan and Denali talking to Kenn about the relationship, THEN there is Milan talking to Warrick about the Daddy/boy dynamic, that, mind you, Kenn and Warrick haven't even talked about yet. Then Milan talks to Kenn about the Daddy/boy dynamic, then there's Warrick, I shit you not, asking the President of the United States if he can have a Daddy/boy relationship with his SON... that he still hadn't even brought up to Kenn.
I'm still baffled with how much time this book spends talking about a developing relationship that we don't get to see. I wanted to see Warrick and Kenn together and not read about them talking to other people about their relationship. Because we barely get to see Kenn and Warrick together for the majority of this book, it was almost jarring to see them interact romantically towards each other and I didn't feel any chemistry between them at all.
My lack of investment in the romance wasn't helped by the fact that it was interrupted every other chapter with all kinds of other povs and the continuation of the suspense plot. I'm still invested in the suspense plot, but I felt like in this book, more than any of the others, it really pushed the romance aspect of the plot to the side. I feel like the more characters get introduced into the series, the more the books lose their focus. I feel like this wasn't Kenn and Warrick's book. It was a continuation of the main plot of the series, with a side plot of Kenn and Warrick's romance.
And just like the previous book in the series, the ending was really abrupt. I'm definitely going to finish this series, when the last two books come out, now that I've come so far, but I'm not all that excited about it anymore, unfortunately.
Nora Phoenix is one of my favorite writers and I really don’t like it that my rating is low. But this book was my least favorite of all her books. I’ll try to explain why.
I was looking forward to Kenn’s story. He is such a sweetheart. But the relationship between him and Warrick took a complete backseat in this story. There was no chemistry, no building up heat between them. It felt all very, very passive. It was basically a lot of tell and no show. People were constantly talking about Warrick and Kenn. Kenn and Milan. Warrick and Seth. Kenn and Denali. Warrick and Milan. Kenn and Del. Del and Warrick. So much talking instead of showing.
It was boring. Why not more scenes with Warrick and Kenn exploring their attraction and preferences? I was more invested in the plot, although not a lot of huge or exciting things happened there. But that’s what it felt like: the plot with snippets of Warrick and Kenn in between. I admire the plot because it is complicated as hell, but I think the other books were better balanced between the main couple and the plot. I loved the scenes with the other couples, but when the hottest scenes is the one with an already established couple and not with Warrick and Kenn, something went wrong IMO. I have a feeling the next (and probably last book) is going to be about Del and the still unknown Issa. I hope it will be sizzling hot between those two and the plot will come to an exciting, suspenseful and action packed end!
I love this series! 💜 This is book 5 (they need to be read in order because there’s a strong sub-plot running through them all) but if low angst, high cuteness, age gap, first time, Daddy/boy is your thing (not mine tbh, but Kenn and Warwick were very sweet), then this is the one for you 🥰.
I honestly didn't enjoy much of this book at all. I think I truly only read the first half, and I skimmed the rest. Mildly spoilery rant under the spoiler.
Even though this story focuses on Kenn and Warrick, you still get more of the larger story arc as well. I even learned to like Milan! AND that’s a miracle in of itself lol.
We learn more about the conspiracy and what was behind it all. More layers and actions are revealed. Who was REALLY behind the curtain manipulating everything.....
We get a peek in on other characters from past books in the series, which I loved. Coulson and Seth have a seriously HOT scene..like HOT 🤜🏻. Milan, Denali and Asher are still going strong.
The build up of Kenn and Warrick’s relationship is super sweet and hot. It’s nice Kenn has someone to love and vice versa. They are a perfect match for one another. I loved their story arc.
I’m SO excited for the next book... I’m already speculating on who the next couple will be... maybe Branson??🤔🤔
DNF 59% Urgh…I’m so bored. We’re jumping into multiple other characters heads in order to further the assassination mystery so Kenn and Warrick feel like they’re still merely background characters. I don’t get them together at all. Let alone in a daddy/boy relationship, which they still aren’t actually doing yet.
Note: The White House Men series has an overarching suspense plot that ties throughout the books. These stories need to be read in order and the suspense plot builds from one book to the next. Therefore, this review has some spoilers of events from earlier books.
This is not a standalone – you must read the preceding books before starting Care. Heartwrenching, but superbly sweet – I just adored this addition to the series. Not only are we getting more details on the overall story but Kenn and Warrick’s connection is perfectly written and masterfully told. The updates we see in this book on the other men from previous stories was very welcome also and I cherished the further development of those relationships – both in their groupings as well as the whole White House Men collection. These books are so gripping and spellbindingly written that I will be re-reading them over and over forever. Pure magnificence.
It should be no surprise that Nora wrote another book that hit me in the feels. I can't wait for more. The individual stories in this series are great and the overarching plot is complicated and keeps another layer of intrique to everything.
First Daddy book I’ve ever read and Daddy kink is not my thing. Kinda had to read this thought because I’m already so invested in the ongoing plot through this entire series.
I didn’t hate it, but I didn’t love it either. Knocking off a star for the daddy kink, mostly because whilst I love Kenn, it made him seem really childish to me compared to Warwick and I found that weird paired with Kenn calling Warwick Daddy all the time and not just during sex 🤷♀️
I understand daddy kink a bit more now though, but it’s still not my thing. Probably won’t ever read another daddy kink book again.
The good + Del. Goddamn, that man is the best father a boy could wish for. His unwavering support for his son was just amazing + Warrick going through the right channels to make sure his relationship with Kenn would not be a secret affair (at least within the White House, for the world it's obviously a secret) + + The friendships between everyone in the inner circle (Milan: "You'd better not cheat this time, asshole." Del: "That's still President Asshole for you.") + Seth and Coulson finally fulfilling Seth's need + Kenn having the freedom and privacy to explore even in these difficult circumstances + Milan's growth + Del and Milan showering Kenn with love after realizing why he delayed coming out to them
The neutral o I'm a little on the fence about Milan's request for Kenn not to call him Uncle anymore. I understand with all the relationships between everyone it's kind of weird, but I think the timing was really bad. He basically asked Kenn to not call him Uncle anymore at the first opportunity after Kenn's mom / Milan's sister died, implying Milan didn't want to be his uncle anymore now that their blood tie died. I know it's not like that, but I couldn't help but noticing that and it rankled o I think I lost interest in the overlapping story. I didn't even remember most of the names and organizations mentioned in the case, and didn't really care enough to figure it out
The bad - Only like 50 percent of the book was about Warrick and Kenn. The rest was about the other men of the inner circle making progress on the case, which is necessary for the continuity of the series, but kind of took away from the developing romance between the MCs. It often felt like the actual MCs were an afterthought - Warrick talking about himself as Daddy in the third person - Warrick talking about himself in the third person and first person within the same sentence, that just really sounded awful ("Come on my cock so Daddy can feel your hole squeeze tight around me") -
I still give this book four stars, because I love Nora's books in general and the romance was really sweet. However, this is definitely my least favorite of this series so far, and I really considered only giving three stars to this installment.
I have to tell you, if things from the other stories have triggered you, be aware, they are very much still discussed and some in detail as the case is being solved. If you read the last book, you will know there were two more tragedies and in this story, it picks up where all are trying to recover. The President and his son the most, I think, but all are affected in their way and it's wearing them all down.
This story is mainly about Kenn and his journey, but one thing about these stories, is all the characters are included because they are all involved. By either relation, friendship, or because they are staff at the White House. And in those close quarters, even with the White House being large, you still can't help but form some bonds. But in this case, for Kenn, it's the opposite. He was his Mama's boy and now he's lost. He had one person he thought of as a friend, and although they still are friends, things have changed. And being on lockdown is not helping a bit. With Professor Warrick coming in, it gave him a bit of freshness he needed.
But I hate what he's had to go through and now having to go through even more and he's finally discovering who he really is and what he is in life. And the one person he feels he can get what he needs it from is running scared. And I get it. I do. It's not easy being a President's kid. Even as easy going as Del is, it's complicated. I think the funniest part for me in this whole book has been Milan's role in everything lately. He's had to be up close and personal in things he's not good at and it's making him all weird lol. It really is funny. But what I love as well, is even though he had to be told, he finally got what he personality and his ways were doing to Kenn and he set it straight quick. Not just with Kenn, but with Warrick. And with with Del for both of them.
This is a hard story. The case is still being dealt with, the grief alone is overwhelming, but what has been the most amazing thing, is how that inner circle has closed ranks and everyone is having to grow up the hard way, but they are growing. They are seeing things in ways they never have before. Learning things of each other that are bringing them on deeper levels. And in the sadness of it all, there is hope. It's barely there, to be honest. But it is there. They all know that no matter how hard things are, life has to go on. And you either move forward or let it go.
I'm hoping from the hints in the last part of this book, that things are about to get interesting in the next one. Because if Calix has done what I think he has, (and he has), life in the White House is about to get even more interesting. And I'm waiting to see how this is all going to play out. I almost feel like Milan at this point. Where I just sit back and watch with glee at what's coming. And I have a feeling Milan will be doing just that. The little turkey lol. Oh how the sparks will fly.
Make sure you guys are reading these and in order. That's a must. Yes, there are cliffhangers to a point but as bad I hate them, it's worth it in the end. This has been a hard series but a dang good one and worth every page.
I just finished this lovely story of Kenn, the son of the President in Nora Phoenix's delightful series. Kenn is a 22-year-old shy virginal scholar who falls in love with the tutor hired to help stay abreast with his college level work while his dad is suddenly made POTUS after an assassination. Warrick is the tutor, a former professor, and military vet wounded in combat. Mid thirties, muscular, he has a limp from injuries to his back and leg and he's perfect for Kenn. So perfect, in fact, that they discover they want to have a Daddy/boy relationship.
Always attuned to his son's needs, Del Shafer doesn't hesitate when speaking to both his son and Warrick and he gives both his blessing for their relationship. Meanwhile, the investigation into the Pride bombing and to the former president's assassination is still going on and another death occurs in the White House. Seth and Coulson are heading the investigation team and burning out, as are other key characters including Del's brother-in-law and his partners (yes, menage!) and, of course, we touch base with Levar and Henley and with Calix and Rhett. This is not a stand alone novel and the series must be read in order because the drama is getting heavier as we get nearer to solving the puzzle of who's behind the killings. We also get more couple time, especially for Seth and Coulson, and get to be present when Kenn undergoes his sexual discovery. The sex scenes were spot-on, and like Goldilocks, I can say they were just right. Not too many and not too outlandish.
I'm looking forward to more in this series. My only down with this story was the dynamic between Kenn and Warrick was missing something. Maybe because Warrick had never been a Daddy before? IDK. It just felt a little off. But Kenn is such a sweetie, I definitely wouldn't want to see anyone miss his story.
I really hated this one. If not for the ongoing suspense story and the chapters focused on characters other than Kenn and Warrick, this would have been a DNF for me. I did not get a sense of either main character as a real person. I hated the Daddy aspect of this book even though that’s not something that usually bothers me. The scene where Kenn’s actual father says, “it looks like your daddy is taking good care of you” was so over the top to me. Like I’m all for kink positivity and open communication between kids and their parents but this was out there. Like way out there. And why doesn’t Kenn have a single friend. Not a friend from high school, camp or university. Not one? I get that this series is in a kind of closed world but there has to be some connection to reality and neither Kenn nor Warrick resembled a human person. Hated. But Seth finally gets his much needed fisting so I guess that’s something.
Also, a final word on our president. This series claims several times that Del is committed to diversity in all the roles but that’s really not evident at any point on this book. The entire inner circle is exclusively gay, pan or bi white men. That’s not diversity. I wish there had been one or two recurring female characters just to inject a tiny bit of believability into this series. At this stage, I’m obviously going to finish the series because I’ve invested so much time on this but come on!
This is an age gap romance, featuring Kenn and Warrick, and is book five in the White House Men series.
Kenn, the president’s son, grows close to his tutor Warrick after a family tragedy. As their bond deepens, Kenn realises he wants Warrick not just as his teacher and boyfriend, but as his Daddy.
This is a gentle, low-angst Daddy romance where Kenn and Warrick grow close together. It’s sweet, supportive, and easy to read, their bond feels warm and comforting the whole way through
Things to expect in this book are: Book 5 in series MM romance Slow burn Age gap (36/22) Tutor x President’s son Hurt / Comfort Loss of parent Touch starved Virgin MC Praise kink Daddy kink (no age play) Spicy times Sex lessons Both fall hard Mystery / suspense continues HEA
~2.5 My least favorite of the series. I couldn't connect with the couple at all. Daddy kink felt forced and unnecessary. Straightforward forbidden student/professor romance would work better. Combining daddy kink with constant presence of Kenn's actual dad - president Shafer didn't sit well with me. Even more so - his overall involvement in the relationships. Plus, half of the story was told from MCs from other books perspective. And this was a good part. Towards the end I was skipping Kenn/Warren chapters entirely and only read chapters narrated by other people. The investigation and the conspiracy however unrealistic kept me engaged. Seth and Coulson remain my favorites
Oh this series just keeps getting better and better!!! This was just so wonderful. I have been waiting for Kenn to find love and find someone to take care of him and Warrick was just perfect! Their relationship built slowly as they first started out as student and tutor. Kenn was lost, he needed someone to be there for him--as he struggled with being the President's son, how to come out, and build his self-confidence. What I always love about how Nora Phoenix writes is how expertly she builds a story, how believable the connections are between the characters, and how much I anticipate when they finally come together. The build up here was simply glorious! We had to wait for their first kiss, but it was 100% worth it! I had ALL the butterflies when they finally got together!!!
The other thing I simply adored in this book was all the open and honest communications. Not just between Kenn and Warrick, but between so many of the characters we've already met along the way. Milan was fantastic here as the caring uncle and the no nonsense best friend. But Del stole the show for me. What a simply wonderful human being. The conversations between him and Kenn made my heart swell! The way he treated his son was pure gold.
This is not a stand alone. You need to read the series in order. The characters from the first 4 books play heavily here. The relationships, friendships, and comraderie was here in spades between everyone and I loved every second of it. We got some really nice moments with everyone together and some quiet, intimate moments with characters from previous books. The continuous suspense and mystery plot evolved some more as we are getting closer to the conclusion of the series. I cannot wait for the next book, this series has just been incredible!
The start was a bit shaky to me. I only pushed on because I’m invested in the larger story arc and in a way I’m glad I kept at it because I was smiling and happy as a clam as the story progressed ☺️
Haven’t been up to reading much lately so this was a lovely story to get back into reading 😃
I love this series but the love story fell a little flat for me. Not only did Kenn read much younger than 22 but asking Del for permission every step of the way, while probably correct, felt weird. And everyone else talking about it and making sure it was all okay was kind of creepy imo. That said, the mystery solving is picking up and I can't wait to find out what in hell is going on here.
Ok so I realize that I just don’t alway like the daddy/boy thing. And I really didn’t care for that here. I found Kenn so beyond uninteresting and immature and way too childish for my interest. But. I skipped all that and am INVESTED in the overarching storyline. And I will guess the next book will be Del and his body man Issa? I hope that’s a good one. Loved seeing all the other guys in this book (it was what kept me going)
A great addition to the White House Men series. Nora gives us a swoony and lovely couple, with the lerfect balance between them. Kenn and Warrick complete eqch other, and it was very fun and sexy reading about their discoveries.
Just like past books, we learn more about the main plot about the story and some very interesting developments. We also have some chapters with the couples from previous books - and here, Milan is actually a nice person! Now I like him 🙊🙊
I'm very excited about the next books, we have some hints about future couples and I am soooo looking foward to them....
Superb story in this series. Kenn and Warrick are beautiful together and learning together on what they both have lost and the needs they both desire. We do see characters from the previous books so I recommend you read from the start.

« Tu as perdu des amis, Warrick.
« Je vais essayer, monsieur. Del. Cela va me prendre un certain temps. »
Le président lui sourit. « Je comprends. Essaie. Je pense que ça aidera aussi Kenn. »
« Je ferai de mon mieux. »
Del inspira profondément. « Tu as ma bénédiction, Warrick.
Jamais. 🖋
The investigation is what really keeps me pulled into these stories. This is my least favorite in the series. I don't really care for Ken and Warrick's relationship, it feels forced and like everyone is setting things up for Ken behind his back. We get more clues into who is behind everything in this one. On to the next.
Kenn and Warwick are a nice couple. They're not my favorite in the series, but still nice. This one wasn't as suspenseful as some of the previous books, but it was still pretty good.
I do not enjoy reading “Daddy” romance books. I only read this one because it is part of a series with a continuing political suspense plot/cliffhanger. If I knew that the series was going in this direction, I probably wouldn’t have started it. I’m a firm believer that an author should stick close to the original type of couple if each book ends with a cliffhanger or there’s a storyline that continues throughout the series, or warn the readers in the book 1 blurb what type of romance will be present in each book so that they can decide if they want to start the series. (Side note, I read a series where the first 15 books were M/F and the 16th was M/M. That ticked a lot of people off. I was fine with it but the M/M book wasn’t very well written.). The first three books were M/M with a little side of “kink”. Book 4 was M/m/m and had more D/s and kink than previous. This book would have been better without the “Daddy” element.
The author does a good job of explaining the difference between a Dom/sub and a Daddy/boy relationship. The sub feels the need to serve his Dom whereas a “boy” wants to be taken care of by his Daddy. Besides the use of the word “Daddy” and age play (THERE IS NO AGE PLAY IN THIS BOOK. If there was, I’d stop reading at that point.), my biggest issue with this genre/kink is the whiny/bratty “boy” who can’t make adult decisions for himself and acts like a spoiled teenager. This book didn’t really have that issue, but it had others.
STOP READING IF YOU HAVEN’T READ THE PREVIOUS BOOKS…
This book starts before the death of Kenn’s mother, and covers the early part of Kenn and Warrick’s student/teacher relationship. There is a lot of overlap with the events in book 4 but we’re inside Kenn and Warrick’s heads this time (but still in 3rd person POV). As such, there are several chapters from previous MC’s POVs (still 3rd person) in order to advance the conspiracy plot. I’m fine with this, while other reviewers were not.
MILD SPOILERS BELOW…
The first conversation between Warrick and Kenn’s dad was necessary in order for Warrick to alter his professional relationship with Kenn to include friendship. This conversation took an odd turn but I won’t say how. The second conversation between Warrick and the president was unnecessary but fine until Warrick explicitly stated what type of relationship he wanted with Kenn. Seriously, what the hell?! Completely ridiculous and cringeworthy.
The “Daddy” part isn’t even really mentioned until about 60% and then the term is overused. I truly don’t understand why their relationship had to be defined that way if Warrick was never interested in it before. He could take care of Kenn and help him navigate his first relationship without the “Daddy” part (similar to book 3 but with rules).
Just FYI, Seth’s secondary kink is mentioned again in this book (and it is explained why he needs it) and their is a scene that goes into detail. That chapter can be skipped if it makes you uncomfortable.
Overall, I was able to get through the book even though I do not enjoy the “Daddy” kink. There were some editing issues and it was slow and unrealistic at times but it was worth reading just for the small pieces of information to the overall conspiracy. Hopefully the next book is better.
