Three years at the Bar C, that was his agreement with Max. This last drive is across Texas to the railhead at Fort Worth. After that, the plan was simple. Drift west to see the ocean, exploring the land along the way. JC will finally get to see more of the wild and uncut with his own eyes. Herds of buffalo that cover the land around him. Mysterious mesas with stories that spark the imagination. The success and failure of people all trying to find their own way in the growing country. Armed with his trusty Colts and riding Shade, he only hopes to make it another seven years and start his ranch.
This particular trail opens his eyes to the betrayal of men. For love or money, friends and family turn on one another. Will he learn the lessons offered before a shot in the back ends it all? Ride along with JC as he earns the respect and trust of good folks. Others will face justice for their poor choices. Some at the end of a rope, others gasping their last breath of acrid powder smoke.
Have read all three books in the series. First two .were four star. Good story but desperately in need of proofreading. Then and than almost always wrong. To instead of too same problem. Rarely a page without a mistake. Made clumsy reading. Other than the massive “typos” the books were five stars. The third book was three star at best because of abruptly ending!!! Come-on. Finish the story!!!
Very much enjoyed the continuation ofthis story. It’s a different take on the west and makes you feel as if you’re there almost experiencing it yourself. But, the amount of typos and words out of order in sentences is unbelievable. Actually made it difficult to read.I hope you didn’t pay anybody to edit this because they didn’t do it.
Another exciting series of ongoing excitement, by one of my favorite Authors!
This five sensation will definitely keep you turning pages to see what this adventurous individual will encounter next! No slowdowns in this one, so prepare yourselves to try and finish the book as quickly as possible! Some of the most entertaining storylines that will pacify anyone's desired expectations from he very beginning, until the final paragraph as been completely absorbed! Too, the descriptively selected characters will surely pacifys any reader's desired expectations! You will, most definitely, find it are to put he story aside until the final extravaganza has been achieved! Most definitely recommend these exciting series of ongoing adventures to all readers, regardless of what your normal reading desires might entail! Definitely looking forward to the next encounters of this young adventurer!!!😃
Another Amazing Book by this incredible Western Author has totally kept my interest from page 1 through to the fantastic ending! Each and every page is filled with Action and Suspense. This Series has been one of the very best that I have read in the last Couple Years! Highly recommend to all Western Readers looking for a great escape!! Robert Knox is now by far my favorite Author going forward. I read a hundred Books a year, my favorite pass time, being Retired!!
Good action : some passages too much wool gathering: however I get that it can't all be edge of your saddle gun battles! Some what far fetched! But still a good read. I had the girl spotted right away on the cattle drive. Be good to see where that goes. Likely a good catch for JC. Keep the books coming!
I read all three books. Excellent story line with characters well woven in. The spelling, grammar and misuse of words were atrocious. Doesn’t anyone proofread the story. Hire a good high school student or college student . That is the only thing holding this back from five stores. I hope the story continues.
I would have given you 4 or 5 stars if you had not spelled couriercurrier which is a leather worker instead of a courier who delivers messages. There were lot of other words I also corrected. Those interrupted a great story. I loved your understanding of culture, economics, history...and so much more. I just wanted to edit the book.
I reread the first 2 . I remember the first 1 and some of the second. This one really got me with all the twists and turns. I expect at least 2 and maybe 3 more books. have to get to Montana before ten years is up. By the way I am over 80 and living my second childhood reading westerns
Excellent book and great story, just as good as the two previous. It has held me spellbound for a couple of days! The writer very cleverly draws you into the story with his immaculate description of the countryside of the day just as the tide was turning back in 1860. Marvellous description of life. Back in those far off day.
Top notch storytelling, but horrible lack of editing. Full of spelling errors, tense errors, grammatical errors and punctuation errors. Almost stopped reading because of it. Simple editing could make these stories into classics. Send ‘em my way, I’ll do it for nothing.
These books are never a disappointment. The storyline of a young man’s journey into adulthood. His lessons both small, long, and hard as he travels across the country at a time of change are both profound and entertaining. The Authors effort in this series deserves a standing ovation. I have already started the next book in line and can highly recommend these books to anyone.
Typical western story with enough twists to be extremely entertaining
Great story good characters. Would give it a 5 but feel almost like giving it a 3 just due to lack of editing. Keep the story of JC going we are ready for more, but please get an editor.
Excellent series, even more so for a newish author!
I've been fully engaged in JC Stone's adventures from the first book, Horse Trouble! While I'm glad JC finally solved the Jessie mystery I want to read the rest of his story Get to writing
Well written sag of young man experiencing the western frontier from New York to California. Riding herd, eliminating bad guys and serving the law as the good guy. Worth the time as it well written!
I enjoyed the story of JC and all his old West adventures, however as a typesetter and proofreader I was really disturbed by all the typos throughout the book. It was as if this was a first draft before editing!&
A lot of twists and turns but this is a good series. Lots of action intrigue things going on and always new characters being added can’t wait for the next
I just finished the last of three books. Each one is a great book. It was hard to put down and I had late nights reading them. Hopefully there is more coming out.
This has been a great series and I loved this one too! Sadly there's a lot of editing that should have been fixed but it doesn't take away from the storyline!
