After many years as a columnist and freelance writer, this is my first venture into the world of fiction and the book I always promised myself I would write. I am now retired, so cannot be accused of rushing into my literary career, and although most people might think I should be stepping away from the computer before dementia sets in, I have thoroughly enjoyed writing this story and hope readers will enjoy it as much as I have. When I'm not out walking or working my dogs, writing is my favourite go-to activity. Despite being a late starter, I am hoping to go on to add other titles to my portfolio, so perhaps the current lockdown situation due to the pandemic may well prove to be the best incentive.
Another thoughtful and endearing children’s book from Wendy Beasley. It has everything – love, friendship, family life, and a wonderful story about perseverance and acceptance, about finding your place in the world even when it’s not where you thought it might be! There is little I can add to the other great reviews – recommended!
Fabulously written. Didn’t want it to end. Great story, very realistic. Could have been real people and real life. Lovely mix of childhood friends and the adventures together with their pets. Very well written, highly recommend
A sweet heartwarming story. Not just for young readers. The friendship between Ruby and Libby is so endearing. Emily is a great friend too. Brilliant life challenges are navigated and in such an engaging way by both girls.
This book is a very easy read and suitable for older primary aged children to read and as a class book to be read by a teacher.Similar to Wendy's previous books you feel compelled to read to the end to find out what happens. It deals sensitively with a child with a disability, a step parent and farm life. Wendy's knowledge of sheepdogs shines through. I enjoyed the book very much. Jill Kevis
