Sharing a one-bedroom studio apartment the size of a postage stamp with a sexy stranger is not my brightest idea.
I need sleep, not temptation.
I’m a first-year intern at South General Hospital, and when I’m not working twenty-four hour shifts of pure emergency room adrenaline, I need a bed. A good one.
This stranger and I already have a history. We got into such a brawl competing for the first apartment we both looked at that the manager kicked us both out. Nobody got it. Now there is only one furnished place left in our part of LA.
We both want it, so we strike a deal. We’ll share.
She gets the ultra-comfy mattress during the night while I’m at the hospital. It’s mine when she’s at work at her family’s deli chain. No problem, right?
Except one evening I get sent home early after a devastating shift, and it turns out Nadia knows a thing or two about handling a crisis. And once I sleep with her cuddled in my arms, I know I’m in trouble.
Because after we share the only bed in our place, there is no holding anything back. — Hold the Pickle is an unexpected roommate romantic comedy about a hot doctor, a deli worker, and the six cats she’s hiding under the bed. It’s a funny, steamy, heartfelt part of the Top 100 Pickleverse, but you do not have to read any other books before this one. You can begin your wild adventure with the Pickle family right here.

Dalton and Nadia both need an apartment and there are only a few available in their price range. This is how they meet..going for the Same apartment. When they are down to the last place, Dalton comes up with a solution, they share the place. Dalton works nights and Nadia works days so they should just pass each other. Nadia agrees. But neither think about what will happen on their days off.
From the beginning, they both notice something different about the other. They get along great, have good conversations, and fun banter. As each day passes they notice their chemistry as well. Living in such close quarters it gets difficult denying their attraction and they move from roommate to couple quickly. But is it too quickly? Because of course it can’t be that easy.
Overall..every story in the Pickle world I have enjoyed. They are quick, easy reads, fun, light and entertaining. There is always a time when I need a book like that and these are great.
Vying for the same apartment Nadia and Dalton decide to share the small space, working opposite hours is the ideal solution, until it isn't, she doesn't want to be in the family business and determined to find her way, walking through the local park she finds her passion for rescuing animals is still alive and well when she finds a litter of kittens, together they nurse the kittens and momma, when things blow up in their lives and difficult decisions are out of their hands, will their new love survive a long distance, his doctor work schedule, what happens when they see each other again, another phenomenal Pickle family story, thank you, Dana Zamora
The last book I read was on the dark side of romance, so I was looking for a funny and quick read to reset my brain. I thought this book would be perfect because not only do I love reading about relationships involving one or both characters in the medical field but I am also a huge cat lover and figured this book would hit both of those marks.
Unfortunately, it did not live up to the expectations. I honestly felt no emotional connection between Dalton and Nadia. The premises of the book was good about being random roommates who fell in love but there wasn't much love to be had. The first 50% of the book read like a closed-door romantic comedy but all of a sudden they have their first kiss and ten minutes later in bed in a spicy scene. There was no build-up to the physical side of the relationship other than a couple of "sparks" when they touched. Most of the conversations leading up to them kissing were surface level. The blurb said about an emotional night Dalton had in the hospital that led to their relationship changing but that did not happen like I thought it would. I pictured a really emotional scene leading up to their first kiss and realizing they had feelings for each other, but when he came home they talked briefly, he went to take a shower and then she went on a walk while he went to sleep......snooze. And then after they got together the story just skipped time to again, not allow for any type of emotional connection between the two characters.
The cats in the story were ok but more annoying than anything. I don't think they should have been the entire reason for Nadia to move hours away to cause the "conflict" in the relationship and there were so many random scenes in the book that weren't needed to just show the cuteness of the cats that also took away from the plot/relationship. I think the book would have just been fine with her original cat, Catzilla, and maybe 1 or 2 rescue kittens but there was just too many altogether.
I know this book is a part of an interconnected series but there were characters in this book that really didn't make any sense when reading it as a stand-alone like I did. I didn't really understand Uncle Sherman other than Nadia was afraid of him, but why? A better explanation of their niece/uncle relationship could have been described instead of just assuming all readers read the previous books with Uncle Sherman in them to know what kind of person he was. Then all the body building characters I know are from a different series and the whole scene at the bar with them talking amongst their relationships probably made sense to people who read that series to get updates on where each of them were but was not needed in this book without better explanation. Instead, it just read like filler.
I was very surprised at how much this book tugged at my heartstrings. So sweet. It has just the right amount of seasoning with more focus on the romance than spice. I laughed and cried in multiple spots. Loved it.
If there were ever a fictional world I never want to end, it's this world of all things Pickle. Each new offering is a chance to catch up with old friends, make new ones, and fall in love with another couple on their road to forever.
But forever is the last thing on Nadia Armstrong's mind. Despite her MBA and patient nudging from her uncle, Sherman Pickle, to join the corporate side of the family business, Nadia wants to stay in Los Angeles. First though, she needs to find an apartment. It's slim pickings in the City of Angels, so she ends up agreeing to room with a complete stranger in order to get the last furnished apartment available.
Medical intern, Dalton Murphy, just needs a place with a bed. He spends most of his time at the hospital, and his shifts are usually opposite of Nadia's hours at the Pickle Deli, so he and Nadia probably won’t spend much time together. But when Nadia discovers a family of abandoned cats, their roommate situation begins to feel more familial, and forever becomes a dream longing to be fulfilled. Neither wants anything to change, but when the landlord discovers the illegal cats, their sweet beginning comes to a sudden end.
With cameos from beloved characters, and six feline friends who have as much personality as their human counterparts, this one will have you meowling with laughter and will make your heart purr. It bubbles with humor, seeps with sweetness, brims with charm, and overflows with heart. With captivating and endearing characters, this delightfully phenomenal romance is my new favorite in the Pickleverse, and one you absolutely won’t want to miss.
Nadia Armstrong's life is at a crossroad. She really doesn't want to work for the family's Pickle Media business. Especially at Doughtery down in Florida with her brother Rhett like her Uncle Sherman wants her to do. Instead she is hiding out in southern California staying at her cousin Max's house while they are waiting on his wife, Camryn to go into labor. Biggest problem with staying with Max is that Camryn is allergic to Nadia's cat Cattarina the Great. Nadia decides to find a place of her own based on her limited income. Just outside the first place Nadia sees this good looking guy in scrubs. Dr. Dalton Murphy is a first year intern at South General Hospital. A little flirting happens. Next thing Nadia realizes is that they are both there wanting this apartment. After a big argument, neither of them get the rental. With only one place left in the city that is close and in their budget range, they agree to live together. Since they have opposite schedules, they can both use the bed.
After spending more time together, Nadia and Dalton start seeing each other in a different light and next thing you know they have crossed that line. They start opening up to each other about their problems and their dreams. In the meantime, Nadia rescues 4 kittens and their mom and that is when the fun ensues. Everything is going extremely well until the kittens are found. Now drastic measures have to be taken and it tears everything they know apart. It will take a lot of determination for Nadia and Dalton to find their way back to each but they do it such a wonderful way. Now Nadia can finally have all of her greatest dreams come true.
I just loved this forced roommate love story. Any book written in the Pickle world is going to be fun, entertaining and one you cannot put down. I just loved Nadia and Dalton together. They really worked. If you are looking for a laugh out loud, swoony read....buy this book!
Another couple finds their HEA in the Pickle-verse? Yes please!!

A young MBA graduate, Nadia, is not yet prepared to work for her family, as Uncle Sherman expects, at a corporate office in Florida. Max’s California deli job is okay for the moment, but she urgently needs to secure an apartment. Due to a shortage of apartments and a series of amusing events, she ends up sharing an apartment with the strikingly good-looking Dalton, an intern/doctor. What a lucky girl!
This book was a delight to read; the witty dialogue and palpable chemistry between the characters made it hard to put down. The sweet and steamy interactions between characters, such as playful banter and heartwarming gestures, made this story a joy to read. It was a perfect HEA for them.
I cannot wait for more from this talented author!! I strongly recommend reading this series in the order posted to avoid spoilers, as the interconnected characters add a fantastic depth to the story. Enjoy!!
Dalton is an intern and Nadia has just graduated from College. He's looking for an apartment close to work, she's looking for a cheap apartment to be close to the family deli. They end up sharing an apartment. At first it's a roommate situation but they begin falling for each other until a litter of kittens are found and it's against the rules. Nadia moves back to her parents house to take care of all the cats and they begin a long distance relationship, they text and call when able, however, it isn't often as he's working longer shifts and she's trying to open an animal rescue. When her cousin and his wife go to the hospital for the birth of their child, Nadia and Dalton reunite and decide that they are going to work things out somehow.

Nadia and Dalton both need to find an apartment and fast. Finding that they are competing against each other adds to the intensity of their arguments why they should have the final apartment over the other. However, when they get to the last place that either could afford, they find out that they both can't have it, they decide with their schedules that they could actually share the apartment and save some money. When Nadia stumbles across a stray cat with kittens and takes them in, their bond grows even more, especially when the kittens are discovered and eviction looms. Through some ups and downs, their bond grows into a relationship... but when it is tested, and distance ends up between them, will they make it work and find their way back?
You know right from the start that Nadia and Dalton's chemistry is only going to get hotter with the more time they spend together. Their interaction during the great apartment argument, his running to her rescue when she calls in a desperate situation, and the tender way they look after the new additions to their lives just shows how entangled their feelings have really become. But it's the quiet moments, the simple actions they do to put each other first that really show their respect and love for their new relationship.
I loved Dalton and Nadia so much!! From their competition to get the only remaining apartment in SoCal that either can afford, to becoming unlikely roommates, to rescuing a Mama Cat and her 4 kittens, to falling in love, these two will steal your hearts for sure!
Come along on the Jeep ride of a lifetime with these two who seem to get each other from the moment they meet. Can they survive possible eviction, long distance and absence that makes the heart grow fonder, we hope! This is one of my favorite Pickle stories...they just keep getting better and better!
In this book Nadia and Dalton become a wonderful couple! Although they are apart for a short while, they come together at the birth of Esmeralda birth. Shortly after that, Nadia and her Uncle and her brother (I think) get together to plan and provide funding for a new ‘rescue ranch) for all kinds of critters, both large and small, on a ranch they buy for it. It is a Beautiful book, written in a way that makes it VERY difficult to put down. And., the Author is EXCELLENT at writing just that way!
I absolutely loved Hold The Pickle! Nadia and Dalton are strangers that end up sharing an apartment and trying to keep it a secret that they have an apartment full of kitties . This story will make you giggle for sure. It is heartwarming to watch as they all become a family and try to figure out how to make things work. This story is full of love, fun, steam, wonderful characters and is a great addition to the Pickleverse!
Nadia and Dalton are so perfect for each other in this book. Their nurturing love for people and animals and each other makes for a great love story. It’s nice to see some of the characters from other books of the Pickle family and MMA fighters. But it can be read as a stand alone. I loved this book and it made me want to revisit the books with Nadia’s brothers and cousins. It’s nice to see the Pickle family grow.
This book went too fast. But it had to in order to get Nadia & Dalton together and on to their HEA. With cats of course. Funny how trying to land the last affordable apartment in the LA area turned out. Pickleverse books are always a hoot. JJ Knight has the best imagination. I have to keep this short so I can get on to the next book in the Pickle family saga. Great read!
Once again, JJ Knight knocks it out of the jar. Love how it brings the "Pickles" together again yet tells their own stories. Nadia & Dalton were meant for each other from the first moment they saw each other. Love how they make the situation work out for them. Keeps you on your toes till the end. Can't wait to see if JJ Knight writes more to expand the family more.
I was needing a story to make me smile and this book did more than that. It drew me in and made me remember how zany this family is. Nadia and Dalton’s story was fun to read. I forgot how many people there were on the extended Pickle family. Well done JJ Knight.
These Pickle stories are so much fun. None are without some drama and angst, but they’re balanced out with humor and whit, sexy times, and some pretty entertaining antics. Plenty of pussies in this installment and a fun reference to a favorite book by Julia Kent. Ready for more fun in the Pickle universe!
I loved Dalton and Nadia. I think they are my favorite Pickle couple. The cats made the story more heartfelt. This story is filled with heart and lots of love. I highly recommend reading the whole series but you can read this one as a standalone and still enjoy this great story.
I was fortunate enough to receive an ARC and I am so thankful that I got to read this great book. It is a beautiful, feel-good, witty rom com where you just have to love everyone. And there are kittens! 10 / 10 can recommend for a light and easy read
Another Pickle hit! If you love insta love, kittens and some angst, this is the one for you. Not to mention a visit from the rest of the Pickle OG's and a baby. I thoroughly enjoyed this one, you will too
I loved this couple so much! Nadia and Dalton start off as rivals for an apartment that they both need, but they decide to share since they have opposing schedules. Their attraction is immediate, but they actually become friends first. And then there are kittens. Such a heartwarming book!
When you need an apartment in a busy city . Only one you think fast . I work night you work days we can share the bed. Pickle deli, jeeps, and kittens. Doctor who saves his roommate. What happens to the secret kittens ? Moving to Denver? Will they get an HEA?
I really liked the first half and the cats... I loved the cats! But after that it was all downhill from there. The characters lost their chemistry, the ending was rushed, there were crazy solutions and we didn't even get to see the reunion between the cats' father and his children.
Think this was my favorite pickle story to date. Nadia, an animal lover, ends up as a roommate to Dalton, a medical intern. Typical pickle antics, stray cats and more in this enjoyable read.
I have enjoyed all of the pickle books, including this one. The characters are interesting and young. They have their whole adult life ahead. Well worth the read!
The pickle books always make you laugh. It is a fun read. The cats tugging on your heart strings with a range of emotions. The animal names cracked me up as well as the cats behavior. Uncle Sherman is a handful. Bring on more pickles.
A unique twist in the pickle family, but a funny, great reading nonetheless. If you haven't read the series start at the beginning, you'll literally be in love
