I was given an ARC of this this book and I enjoyed it from beginning to end.
It's year two and Kaela and the others are again faced with seemingly impossible tasks. However, there's an even bigger danger.
I liked the characters and their development and relationships. The sense of place is extremely well done, making fantasy believable. The concept is fascinating and the plots mysterious and suspenseful. I loved the magical element.
The writing style had an easy flow and the first-person narrative is my favourite. It's fast-paced and filled with action.
I love the concept, I love the world. I love the writers use of adjectives to really build a sense of environment and character. But there is often an overuse in sentences and repetition of themes that make this a bit harder to read. There are 2 occasions where Lyr and Kaela had the exact same conversation about their feelings just in a different place with almost the same phrasing. The rushed kisses with the MMC's that play out the same way and lead to almost identical feelings also feel a little stale. I want to keep reading, I want to love this series but book 2 left me with the same feelings as book 1.
Wow. Friendships deepens and jealousy is wound back. The trials and perilous happenings can only be passed a d resolved with the friends working together and trusting each other. This book too is just as wonderfully written as the other books she creates, each one a showcase of hart and soul.
This series is fun and I’m enjoying the story. The books are quick and easy to read, but pretty predictable, especially if you read a fair amount of fantasy. However, the errors throughout the text are atrocious. Seriously, where was the editor on this book??
This book was better than the first, but still not enough for me. I will DNF the rest of the series, I had higher hopes but the books just weren't hooking me.
Love it! Watching the groups second year of learning was full of twists and turns. I couldn’t put it down. And finding family was the best part of all!!
