True-Blue #2

Sono qui per te (True-Blue Serie Vol. 2)

Rate this book

Same as with the first book, I liked both MC's well enough, but they were just kind of "there".

I did find myself connecting with the MC's from time to time, but overall, even by the very end, I didn't find myself nearly as invested in them as I'd hoped I would be. :- /

I suspect that my brain is a bit over-saturated with M/M Contemporary at the moment to fully engage, so it's back to an M/M Fantasy series that I was working through before for me next. Maybe that'll help.

3.25 stars.

I love me a good redemption arc and that's just what I got here as Becca Seymour completely turns around Doctor Dickwad and had me falling for him big time.

Davis was just the right man for Scott to lean on, first in friendship and then more, as he came to terms with acknowledging his sexuality out loud and all the levels of anxiety and doubt that came with it.

The narrative does a great job of slowly peeling back all the layers, never excusing Scott for his poor behaviour towards Carter in the first book, but giving explanations for why.

I loved pretty much everything in this story, including Scott's sister and her two kids, and it never felt like the plot was ticking off boxes.

#ARC kindly received from the author in return for an honest and unbiased review.

Lost and Found Family

So Carter and Tanner have settled into their own little love nest in their renovated Home. Relationship with Scott Anderson now on a very firm friend footing, especially as he has become friends with their bestie Davis and his daughter Libby.

Scott has finally come out to Carter’s friends and work colleagues, though he’s hesitant to go back to work at the Clinic after someone reported him to the governing body of veterinarians.

Surprisingly it wasn’t Carter who did the reporting of the homophobic behaviour that he suffered from Scott a few months ago.

Now Scott is a different person and his feelings for Davis are gathering heat as they get to know each other. Given that Davis is more or less Tanner’s brother, Tanner has warned Scott not to hurt Davis or Libby, or else. 💥⚡️ 🤛 👊.

Alarm bells go off with the sudden arrival of Scott’s sister Jenna and her two sons, Toby and Hunter, her car loaded with all they could fit into boxes.

Scott is shocked and so angry when he finds out the reasons for Jenna’s arrival. Scott’s found family rally round and help out. Especially Carter’s parents, Marcy and Jack, what a wonderful set of parents, hilarious, and interfering in such a good way, well, Marcy really.

Scott has finally found a way back into working at the Veterinary Clinic and some. Way to go Scott.

Just as everyone is finding their footing and peace in their lives in Kirkby, Scott’s POS father arrives at Scott’s house thinking he can get everyone back under his fist.

When Scott walks in holding Davis’s hand, WOW, how I wished I’d been able to see that. Heart attack alert.

He just didn’t know the man his son Scott had become when he managed to get away from that horrible biological family he’d had the misfortune to be born into.
<^><^><^><^><^>
My favourite characters in ‘I’ve got You’ are definitely Davis, wish I could transplant him into my life, and then Marcy Fallon, Carter’s Mum, what a Diamond she is to have on your side.

My heart and soul is very happy with these found family members in Kirkby. Lovely series.

This is a really sweet romance between Scott and Davis.

It is a book of second chances as Scott works through his internalized homophobia and comes fully
out.

Davis has a young child and all the cation of a single parent dating.

There is such kindness between them and Scott earns the trust and place in the community.

I would love more books set in this town with these friends. The banter wasn't as present in this book but connection between this couple very heartfelt

New to me author. This is a mm contemporary story, with Scott and Davis as the main characters. This is book 2 in the series but can be read and understand as a stand-alone. I’ll read more from this author.

Finding Family & Love!

Lots of churning emotions, a sweet baby girl and crazy families are all elements of the love story between Vet Dr. Scott & Coffee Shop Owner Davis. There are also laugh out loud moments.
However, I was somewhat stuck on the Scott character. We met him in the previous ebook Let Me Show You. Where Scott was an excellent antagonist. I had a hard time reconciling that nasty asshat Scott with this vacillating, can’t handle issues well, overwhelmed Scott. The author did not make a case for me to believe he has any redeeming qualities, that he’s good enough for Davis. I’m with Tanner on this.
Overall, a solid romantic read, although a bit long winded with all the Scott angst.

Alright… I was a little bit leery about coming into this one because though I wanted a Scott story, he was a really big bully in Tanner and Carter’s story, so I wasn’t sure he was going to be able to redeem himself. He did though, he
really really did.

So, first things first, we met both guys in Tanner and Carter’s story… Davis, because he and his daughter Libby, is who Tanner had moved to the small town to be close to. I loved Davis and anyone who’s read any of my reviews, know that I’m an absolute sucker for a hot dad story… and this one was up close and personal with Davis’ daughter, Libby. She wasn’t pushed aside as an afterthought, she was ample page time and all the guys from this book and the previous one was wrapped around her one-year-old little finger. I loved it.

Then, we know Scott as the jerky vet that made a lot of trouble for Carter in his story. As I mentioned, he wasn’t one to be liked in that story… he was bigoted and hateful and went out of his way to try to run Carter off or to get him fired, and I hated him for that because I HATE when people get away with being terrible people.

However, in saying that… when you read about the environment in which he grew up and the abuse he endured because of his sexuality, I didn’t blame him for being scared of it or scared to admit it. It was hard reading about, because not only do most folks have a hard time with coming out and acceptance, not only with themselves but the acceptance that other people have with them… Scott knew it wasn’t an option, not ever, and he’d been conditioned to be afraid of it. I hated it so bad for him, especially because while meeting Davis the time or two they’d run into each other, even though they were attracted to one another, Scott’s anxiety and fears had him having near on panic attacks. Luckily, Davis was sweet and patient and understanding, and even though he’d heard a lot of bad about this guy, mostly from Tanner… he couldn’t help but be intrigued by him.

There wasn’t a whole lot of drama in this one, which I really liked. I’m not a big fan of angst… instead, we got to focus on these two getting to know each other while Scott figured out what he wanted his next move to be. Did he want to stay at the practice and work with the animals, or move on? He was taking some time to figure out what he wanted and at the same time, figure out if being out was worth it. It was, especially because Davis and Libby were so amazing and cute.

Of course, we get to see some of our favorites from the other books, and meet some new ones along the way… like Scott’s sister and her kids, that was equally as cute as Davis’ and Carter’s parents, who were so sweet and not afraid of the embarrassing scene that had me cracking up with Scott and his loose lips. I’ve totally done that before… it was amazingly bad but so funny.

The abusive dad does pop up and try to wave his bully flag around, but both Scott and his sister have both grown since meeting Davis, and it was awesome to see them stick up for themselves. More of that, please!

I dunno who will be next or if anyone will be, but I really enjoyed this one and I would absolutely be interested in reading more from these couples. Awesome addition.

4 stars from me

I absolutely adored this book. Honestly there wasn’t an aspect I didn’t love. I love the point of views of Davis and Scott. I loved watching Scott slowly gain confidence in himself and who he was. I loved Libby and Davis. Davis and how he was with Scott was amazeballs. Scott and how he learned to let go of the past and forgive himself for all the douchecanoe things he did in the past and allow someone in. How Scott reached out to his sister and helped her as well.

I loved how Scott and Davis took it slow and learned about one another and helped one another in different ways. Davis helped Scott get comfortable with himself and others. He taught him to be proud of who he is and what he has accomplished. That he deserved to be loved and to love and to be given another chance. He helped him forgive himself and find where he belonged. Scott helped Davis find love with someone. He was supportive and kind with Davis.

Davis and Scott were great for one another. They were there for one another, supportive and listened to one another. They were patient and kind. Sweet and snarky as well. They were also incredibly honest with one another and this helped Scott grow and gain confidence in himself and helped him find his way.

The romance was equal parts sexy and sweet. I loved how this was not instalove but a slow process. They had attraction and learned about one another. They let things go naturally and Davis also had Libby to consider. The relationship was wonderful and I loved how Scott was with Libby and this helped Davis to see who Scott really was and helped Davis to open his heart more to Scott.

A wonderfully written just endearing book that has you smile, laugh and fall in love with the characters. You root them on for romance and when they stand up to others for being bullies and you awww over the adorable moments. a great all around book on redemption, second chances, finding the one you are meant to be with, finding yourself and love.

First, I want to thank Becca Seymour for providing me with this book so I may bring you this review.

My heart just melted when I saw the cover of I’ve Got You by Becca Seymour! How could you not just fall in love with a handsome man holding the cutest little baby in the air. Then you throw a picture of a dog for all those dog lovers in there. I have a soft spot for single daddy’s and babies so this cover really got me hooked into seeing what the book was about. Kudos to the graphic artist.

I have read many dedications since reviewing books but Becca’s was very unique. She dedicates this book to Donna, her wifey, (she doesn’t care if Kevin disagrees-I’ll fight him for you). Your shit-talk makes me smile…sadistically. You’re totally a bad influence. I was rolling on the floor laughing!!!

I’ve Got You is the sequel to Becca’s first book in the Let Me Show You. I highly suggest you read that one first so you get a better idea of the characters and the storyline. In this book you will see familiar faces such as Tanner, Carter, Davis and oh that sweet adorable Lilly.

Like the other book there were times when Becca had me cracking up laughing and smiling ear to ear.

There was a scene that I could relate to that aha moment when you realize your sexuality. That moment Davis realized it was so emotionally raw for him. Becca did an incredible job bringing out his emotions with it.

I loved how Becca addressed Bisexuality. I agree with Davis when he says that being Bisexual is not as confusing as people make it out to be. It meant you can be attracted to both sexes and love the equally. Love is love no matter what body part.

I highly recommend you read the first book in this series,Let Me Show You, it will give you so much back story and you will enjoy this book more. We met Davis and Libby in the previous book and we also see Carter and Tanner again from book one. When I found out who was in the second book I was worried that I would hate Scott like I did in the previous book. Let's just say he redeemed himself. I really enjoyed the pace of this book. Davis has the hots for Scott right away but he won't do anything until he feels Scott is ready. Throw is little Libby and it is so sweet. There is a little angst in the book but not too much. The author says she doesn't think she will write more books in the series which is kind of sad, I was liking these guys. Maybe we could have wedding books or books when they have babies???

I loved everything in this story, The author, Becca had me smiling ear to ear, giggling and swooning. I loved this story about forgiveness and redemption. Becca nailed this story with the perfect MC's and lots of emotion to make you feel all the feels with in a short story, which in my eyes was the perfect size. This was funny at the right times, passionate and heartwarming and I highly recommend this to everyone.

I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.

We met single dad Davis and vet Scott in the first book in this series. I wondered given what we know about Scott before starting I’ve Got You, if I’d even like him. But I quickly learned the why behind Scott’s behaviour and I felt his contrition. It was clear to me that Scott needed compassion and some support in his life.

Sometimes when I read books about single parents it feels like the kid is only there as a prop. This is not the case in I’ve Got You. Davis’ daughter Libby felt like a part of their lives, maybe because we’d met Davis and Libby already. I felt a real sense of family and community with Davis and the people in his life who cared about him and Libby.

Scott and Davis’ romance is slow to build but never boring. The attraction between them is their right from the start and feelings grow over time, building solid foundation for a serious relationship. It was lovely to a have a romance where the relationship and not their sex life takes centre stage. Davis’ and Scott’s romance is just lovely. This is two guys living normal lives dealing with real life issues and I always love that in a story. I thoroughly enjoyed. I’ve Got You. It gets 4 stars from me.

I've got to tell you, I loved this story for several different reasons. One, was the fact that the one person who should have hated one of the MCs, forgave him and gave him a second chance. Two, because said MC was dealing with figuring out himself or coming out, so to speak, the other MC was extremely patient. That was for several reasons but it was perfect.
Scott wasn't very liked by people. In an effort to hide his own self being gay, he would make hateful comments to Carter, whom he worked with. Eventually, he confessed to Carter he was gay and apologized, and it started a connection. As friends only, but it was time to move past things. When Davis meets Scott at Carter and Tanner's party, Davis didn't know who he was. He just knew Scott looked lost and tried to help. And it ended in a hot kiss and Scott running away. Through Carter and Davis both, Scott started to come back out of his shell. Starting openly living as gay, and reconnected with someone he needed to. Davis was patient as can be with Scott, no matter how bad he wanted to ravish him, he was patient. But the past and his father have shown up in Scott's life and it's time to take a stand or cower and run.
When you first read about Scott, you don't want to like him. For the way he treated Carter. But then like Carter, we have to learn to forgive and move on. Especially when you find out why they are the way they are. It's not always an excuse. People can make the choice to change but after that kind of past, it's not easy. But what I loved, even with Tanner being a butt at times, is Scott was allowed to finally blossom. He finally started to feel free. And the transformation was beautiful.
Davis had his reasons for being slow. His baby girl being the biggest, but he knew as much as he wanted Scott, Scott wasn't ready. And honestly, he wants fully yet either. But more for Scott. And I love that. It was more about becoming friends and being intimate. Getting to know each other and seeing how they clicked. Even when sex was had, it wasn't written out. It was just implied. There were a few scenes but the implies made it sexy and more intimate.
It's a beautiful story. One of forgiveness and second chances. One of new starts and a new life.

This story was emotionally hard. Scott's life wasn't easy at all. So its a wonder how he was a well adjusted adult. I don't know if I would have survived the abuse he dealt with. Honestly I cried for him. I was happy when he started to accept who he is and be comfortable with himself. He had an amazing support system though. Without them he still would have been struggling. Life can be difficult all on its own, but very when you throw abuse into the mix. Its agony and life is harder. That sad truth is this goes on every day. Thank you United Indie Book blog for allowing me to read this book. It reminded me to take a step back and consider what someone else could be going through.

review by MARIBEL

So I would encourage you to read Let Me Show You before this one. It would show you how Scott acted and why Tanner was so hostile towards him. My heart went out to Scott in this book. He's struggling with coming out, telling his family, deciding what to do with the vet clinic and living his life. He wasn't counting on Davis coming into his life and bonding with Libby as much as he did. Davis was super supportive and patience with Scott, especially he broke a huge amount of dishes but it also made for some steamy moments in the kitchen. It was great to see Scott mature throughout this book. He stood up to his dad, found his passion and his love. Both are the characters are great and it was great seeing so much of Carter and Tanner in this book. This was a great book with characters you will fall in love with!

So Scott made an impression in the previous book, and it was not the best of impressions. He was homophobic because he was repressing his own sexuality and attraction to men. Now, I gathered that David and Scott would end up pairing off because the previous story implied it. I was actually none too happy about that because Scott did not redeem himself for me simply because he apologized for his actions and words. I felt like he was forgiven far too quickly before he even attempted to prove he was not the hateful and bigoted man he portrayed himself to be.

So, I was pleasantly surprised when David and Scott actually took the time in their friendship to work out their own insecurities before they even committed to relationship. I loved the slow burn aspect of this one because it fit them both and their growth. Scott eventually proved to me that he was worthy of forgiveness because he was willing to prove to everyone that he had changed and that he was willing to embrace who he truly was. He was done hiding, and he found his home with David and his daughter. That made me love the story.

I did wish we had a little bit more in terms of Scott's POV because he was facing quite a lot of decisions. I wanted to learn more about how he finally decided to stick with Veterinary Medicine. Just a bit more is all. I felt like it wrapped up too quickly on that front.

This is the second book in the series and although you could read it as a standalone, I personally think you will get a much better feel for Scott and Davis characters by reading book one first.

We met Scott and Davis in book on as supporting characters, to Tanner (Davis’s Best friend) and Carter (Tanners Boyfriend).
Davis is a single Dad and his life revolves around his cute little daughter. He does not have time for hook ups let alone dating and the whole relationship, though he yearns for his Mr Right.
Scott is just coming to terms with his sexuality and with the help of his new friend Carter and Davis, he is on the road to redemption and self-discovery. He knows he has a long way to go to regain respect after his homophobic abuse of Carter in book one.
But If Carter can forgive him, and if Davis believes in him, maybe he will find a way to forgive himself.
The story is so sweet and heart warming as we follow Davis and Scott. The author does a great job of showing Scotts road to redemption and hopefully happiness. We get to follow their budding relationship that starts of shaky, but they are determined to see where life together will take them. Scott can not believe the amount of love Davis has for him, and he adores Davis’s daughter, which brings out the best in him.
As with book one, I really connected to the characters as all five of them become a kind of one big extended family

The blurb calls this "low-angst, feel-good" and it lives up to that. This is the redemption story for Scott, whose assholery in the first book is explained by some pretty ingrained internalized homophobia. His world has been turned on its ear by getting to know Carter, seeing him with Tanner and watching people around them treat their relationship as a joy, not a source of ridicule or trauma. Scott has left the veterinary practice to try to get a grip on who he is, in a world where it's okay to be gay.

And as he's struggling to emerge from the prison of his own making, he meets Davis, a sweet man with an adorable one-year-old daughter. A man who also turns Scott's crank in ways he never let himself experience before. Davis is everything he would have wished for over the long years. If he had ever let himself look his own desires in the eye.

For Davis, Scott is a surprise - a man he was prepared to hate for Carter's sake, but who turns out to be anxious and tentative and great with kids. Davis can't resist trying to unearth the man he senses is buried somewhere under the hot mess that is Scott.

Despite a history of severe past abuse, the painful bits are skated over very lightly. The relationship is sweet and develops smoothly, the strains between Scott and Davis's friends are eased by goodwill on both sides. There is a bit of plot climax near the end, but the book as a whole is a feel-good coming out and finding love story.

This is the first book I have read by this author, and I can honestly say it will not be the last! I loved it! Davis is a hottie and his daughter Libby is a cutie. Scott the brooding confused yet, not so confused Veterinary trying to get a handle on his emotions, to start living his life out in public is very endearing. Early on in the story you get that Scott has not been the most accepting person, but you also feel his struggles and fears making you see why he would lash out in the way he has in the past. The relationship that grows between Davis and Scott is truly a beautiful one. A friendship that makes both of them reflect on their own lives and how they can help one another grow more fully linking themselves to each other more permanently.
There a lot of firsts and family times that will make your heart melt. There are also moments where you will literally laugh out loud, so make sure you are alone so you aren't looked at as a crazy person like me. I was at work at my lunch break...
This book can be read as a stand alone, but to get the complete story behind Tanner, Carter and Scott's connection I highly recommend that you read Let Me Show You.
To sum up this book is funny, passionate and heart warming, a must read!

I was given an ARC of “I’ve Got You” in return for an honest review.
This is a feel good story and it certainly made me feel good. The book is set after ‘Let Me Show You” but the author wants her readers to be able to pick this up without having read the first book. You can certainly read “I’ve Got You” as a standalone but I really do think that the story is enriched by reading it after “Let me Show You.” Many of the characters appear in both books and the 2nd book makes reference to things which have occurred in “Let Me Show You.”
In the previous book Scott was known as Doctor Dickwad. He was in the closet and he took very opportunity to be a homophobic moron. He had a difficult upbringing even though he came from a privileged backgroung and he is now estranged from his family. In “I’ve Got You” he is out and learning how to be proud. Davis is a single dad who has his own coffee shop. These two met in book 1 but this book is their story. I enjoyed the slow burn of this story. Both men have to make changes and learn how to be together but this they manage to do.
The book is well written and I found the story to be very engaging.
I have no problem in recommending this story.

I read the first book in this series and enjoyed it. It was sweet, with almost no angst, and quite uplifting. I really feel, though, that this second book was a step up.

I loved that it was about Davis and Scott, both who'd appeared in the first book. Davis is very likeable, Scott, meh, not so much. So what a surprise that they're both each others love interests in this second book.

After the characters meet, and the sparks fly between the two, all bets are off. I loved how the MCs from the first book appear in this one, and work together to help Davis and Scott.

I really felt for Scott, he was full of sadness and insecurities beneath his arrogant facade. Davis is so loving towards Scott and his insecurities about coming out in his community. He doesn't rush him, but is quietly supportive of Scott until he finds his confidence to not care of others opinions.

Scott is so broken, I could've cried for him. I loved how Davis nurtered him and helped him overcome his fears. Scott's character development was epic, all in response to Davis' care and concern for him. I really enjoyed this, loved the ending.

The ability to take a character like Dr. D!ckface and turn him into a character that you want all the best for is an incredible feat, which Becca Seymour has accomplished in this book.

After finally coming out of the closet at work by bullying and hating on Davis's friend Carter, Scott has left the veterinary clinic and is taking a cooling off period. When he meets Davis, he's smitten at first sight, but is nowhere near ready to start anything. Especially with Davis, who is a single dad.

This story of redemption was incredibly well done. I loved how Scott becomes such an incredibly human, flawed, deserving man who's capable of love and respect. He's humble and worthy of all of the praise he receives and it's sincerely heartwarming.

Family was a huge theme weaved through this book and I absolutely loved how all of the characters dropped everything for each other and had each other's backs.

This book is highly recommended and a wonderful read.

This is exactly the kind of story I like to read, sweet, cute, full of children and laughs. I read I’ve Got You by Becca Seymour in one night, it caught my interested from the beginning and it was a joy to read, easy and quick. It’s not a shallow story, there’s not too much drama but it’s packed with feelings, all kind of them, friendship, love, loyalty. There is a strong sense of family here, not just the blood one, on the contrary the family Davis has created for his daughter and himself is composed by Carter and Tanner (from Let Me Show You), his employees and Scott. The same Scott you probably hated if you read Let Me Show You. In my opinion the author did a good job at redeem this character, I soon fell in love with him too and forgave him for the behaviours he had with Carter. Scott and Davis were lovely together and the way Scott acted around Lilly showed how great he really was.

I liked I’ve Got you very much, I think it was so much better than the previous title. I will surely read more about this author.

This is an amazing story and I love everything about it. I've Got You is well written, sweet, emotional, hilarious, sexy, the setting is great, the storyline is intriguing and I love the characters. Scott was awful in the first book but now that I know more about his background his actions make a lot more sense and he has fully redeemed himself in my eyes. Davis and his sweet baby girl Lilly captured my heart in the first book and the patience and support he gives to Scott is amazing. They have a wonderful connection and smoking hot chemistry. I love how their relationship evolves and how Scott learns to accept himself. The secondary characters add so much to this story and I could not stop laughing when Carter's mom tried to give Scott advice. I also love seeing how well Carter and Tanner are doing. The ending is perfect and I can't wait to read more books by this author.

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.

While I liked Let Me Show You well enough, I really loved I've Got You.

In the previous book Scott acted like a real a**hole but now I got to know the reasons behind his behavior. He's got a deep set internalized homophobia and he's doing his best to overcome the psychological conditioning done by his parents. It broke my heart to see his inner conflict between what his mind says and what his heart and body crave. So hungry for touch and affection ,so fascinated with Davis and his appreciation.

And Davis is amazing: caring, patient, an all around great man,and of course a good father. I loved watching their relationship develop, each tentative step at a time. Curiosity becomes warm feelings, then turn into hot need and eventually deep, strong love.

I've Got You is an absorbing, soul-stirring romance . It was touching to witness Scott grow happy in his own skin and find home, love and family with Davis and Libby.

I hated Scott in book one but I loved Davis. Going into book two I was wondering how he was going to redeem himself for all his past errors.

Scott hasn’t had the best of up bringings he has had the money just not the love so when he found him self working with an openly gay male he hit the panic button and turned into a complete dick. It with the help of some friends he finally can turn his life around.

Davis has a lot of responsibility with looking after his baby girl and running the coffee shop. He doesn’t have time to meet someone new. But when the dickwad vet shoes him his other side the one he has kept hidden for so long he can’t help but crack.

Lovely story about forgiveness and redemption as always it’s a pleasure to read this author. Low angst hot loving adorable puppies and cute babies what more could you want.

✮ (¸.•´I have not read book one, but I intend to in order to further understand what had happened pre I've Got You. What I liked about this book was not the romance, though that was slow burn and sweet; but Davis's understanding that Scott needed to find himself on his own. The secondary characters and subplots made the story more interesting. I adored little Libby and liked that all her cuteness did not overtake the book.

Scott's denial of himself led to the realization that life was not what he envisioned. Meeting single father Davis opened his eyes to the possibility that he good be free and live life as he should have been able to. Davis had expected nothing until his feelings shifted for Scott.
