Rescued Hearts by Lisa Phillips and Megan Besing really did not capture my attention. I really wanted it to. There was hints of suspense, but it really didn't seem that much of a story element until the very end of the book. The familiar setting was nice to see and return to. Readers will enjoy the familiarity of the setting and a number of the characters. However, the hero, Eddie, had some elements in his past that were kept hidden from the readers. Those points didn't really bother me. Phillips and Besing did create a hero who wanted to help the less fortunate children, in order to give them what he did not have, which is admiral and made him a more heroic hero. However, Bianca is a girl who wanted to be an actress, but one encounter with Eddie to try to make more numbers for her movies, and she is questioning her whole life's choices. I had a hard time buying that. Plus, the story hinted at some suspenseful moments, but it did not really come to fruitation until almost the end of the novel. Overall, Rescued Hearts by Lisa Phillips and Megan Besing told a really slow moving story that I could not wait for it to be over. I wanted it to be more interesting, but for me, it really didn't capture my attention.
I received a complimentary copy of Rescued Hearts by Lisa Phillips and Megan Besing from Sunrise Publishing, but the opinions stated are all my own.
