She serves up ice cream. He serves up goals. Together, they might just score something sweeter...
Maggie knows three things for she makes the best rocky road in Nashville, she's undefeated at trivia night, and falling for the charming hockey player who visits her shop is definitely not on her agenda. But Aiden Mitchell, star forward for the Nashville Predators, keeps finding excuses to stop by for "just one more scoop" and their playful banter over obscure facts is becoming the best part of her day.
When a late-night encounter outside the shop forces Aiden to step in as her protector, Maggie starts to realize that there’s more to this wounded hockey hero than his stats suggest. But Maggie's time in Nashville has an expiration date. Starting something with a man whose life is firmly rooted in Nashville, especially one whose smile makes her forget all the reasons she shouldn't stay, feels like a recipe for heartbreak.
Aiden is determined to prove that some things are worth fighting for, even if it means laying his heart on the line. After all, the best plays are the ones you never see coming.
SWEET SCORE is a hockey romance featuring themes such as protective hero, he falls first, instalove, wounded hero, and sassy heroine. This closed-door romance proves that sometimes the sweetest victories happen off the ice.

Maggie is the manager at Sweet Scoops, an ice cream shop directly across from the stadium's main entrance, and her passion is trivia. But right now, she glares at the frozen yogurt shop across from her ice cream location. They have a "Hockey Night Special" sign promising half-price in honor of the Predator’s game, and are taking away her customers! Then a hockey player for the Nashville Predators, Aiden Mitchell, who just got traded here from Boston after an injury, walked over to the ice cream shop to get a double scoop of Rocky Road. The two of them teased each other, then more customers came in, drawn over by seeing a Predators player enjoying ice cream. He takes a photo with her permission to share with his fans when they ask about popular local spots. So she invites him back to try ALL of the flavors, strictly for “research” purposes. Her friend Sara was practically drooling over their flirting!
Aiden enjoys his visits to chat with Maggie, have some ice cream, and argue good-naturedly over trivia facts. He even protects her from harm when two guys, clearly drunk, bang on the window at midnight as she is closing up and want ice cream. Aiden directs them to a 23-hour convenience store or he will call his cop friends if they refuse to leave. Then he offers to walk her home. Normally security guys check in on her, but they were working at a concert that night.
Maggie and Aiden finally go on a date. But when Aiden heads to the ice cream shop and it’s closed, he starts to worry. Maggie isn’t answering the phone. Her father had a heart attack and she took off for her hometown, blaming herself for not calling her dad while she was on a date and not being there for him. So she refuses to call Aiden. Jake tracks down Sara to see what happened and joins Aiden, offering to drive to her apartment. When they find out she drove to the hospital, Jake gives Aiden his car keys and Coach gave permission to go to her despite upcoming practice. But Maggie has decided she isn’t willing to risk her heart for a guy. Can he change her mind? Or will she end up walking out of his life and rejecting his love for her?
When hockey player Aiden visits Maggie’s ice cream shop, they immediately hit it off. The banter and flirting made that I knew this book, Sweet Score by Lily Love, was going to be a good one. Now that I have read it, I can confirm that. I had a really hard time putting the book down. It is a short novel, but Lily Love made it a really sweet and swoony romance novel, complete with romance and some drama.
Aiden is a great guy, he is charming and is just what Maggie needs. He has been hurt, but being around Maggie, he completely forgets that. And I just loved Maggie: she is adorable and loves her ice cream. When reading this book, you just want to go for an ice cream. Their chemistry is great. The writing style is flowing and I kept turning the pages, so I read it almost in one day. This was the first book by Lily Love that I read, and I loved it. I will definitely read more of her books.
If you want to read a swoony short romance novel, with two very likable characters who just belong together, with a great flowing writing style, with nice side characters such as Lily’s friends and Aiden’s teammates, with romance, some drama and with a good story-line, this is the book you want to read.
A sweet, short read, Lily Love has provided a perfect book to escape real life. Easily able to read in a setting, Aiden and Maggie are worth the hour or two.
The joy I felt reading about them falling for each other speaks to the power that Lily’s writing has. Able to invoke this amount of feeling and emotion within such a short number of pages, highlights the talent that Lily holds in writing relationships. Maggie is beautiful, inside and out. The vulnerability she showed in opening up to Aiden was so pure. Aiden was a great character also. He has some baggage he is dealing with, but you can tell he truly cares for Maggie and wants to be closer to her.
As their friendship grows into something more, it was impossible to not fall in love with both of them, as individuals and as a couple. The slight suspense added a layer of drama that made this well rounded story. Lily knows what she is doing when she writes, whether they are short stories or full length novels. If you love sweet romance, a dash of suspense, and friends to lovers, this book is for you!
As always, review any author notes before reading.
Tropes: 🏒Protective Hero 🍦He Falls First 🏒Insta Love 🍦Wounded Hero 🏒Sassy Heroine 🍦Friends to Lovers
Is a sweet hockey, he falls first, wounded hero romance and no cliffhanger. Some of the lines I really like --- "Mostly we just skate in circles and try not to fall down," --- "You know, I might need to do some more thorough research before making such a bold claim. For journalistic integrity." --- "But Maggie's not interested in dating athletes. Says we're too high maintenance." --- "I thought hockey players needed protein shakes and kale smoothies after practice. Not ice cream." --- "I never back down from a challenge, Rocky Road." --- "Mrs. Chen's cat did try to stage a break-in for some tuna ice cream." --- "We're both afraid of not being good enough. Of losing our dreams just when they're starting to feel real." --- "Like they want to share a Lady and the Tramp spaghetti moment?" --- I loved Maggie and Aiden's story and I'm sure you will too. I've loved everyone of her books that I've read and can't wait to read her next book.
This was a great book. It was a page turner and the suspense was sweet. I was on the edge of my seat and I couldn’t even put it down. Aiden was a hockey player who come in the ice cream shop to visits Maggie’s where she worked. They started to hangout with each other at the ice cream shop as they crew a bond that will lead to romance vibe of fun and friendship and that will lead to love. It was something she couldn’t imagine that will happen to her in this lifetime or moment. Was he felling the same way too. I definitely recommend this book and you won’t be disappointed. Oh My goodness, I could and did not want to put this down. Lily did it again, a sweet, swoon-worthy world she gave us with one of my loves....Ice Cream.
Here's Aiden, really on his last limb playing hockey. Here's Maggie ice cream store manager who loves creating new and amazing flavors. And do you know what they bonded over? Rocky road! I mean, it's not one I care for, but it'd so adorably cute! And then, Aiden nick names her that. I mean, could ya steal my heart anymore?
It's a fun, sweet, and short read, that is still the perfect life of romance that we all love. So make sure to grab it.
This book was like a warm hug. So sweet. It’s the third in the Mistakes and Promises series (I haven’t yet read the first two but I definitely will be) It had so much warmth and charm from the very first page. There’s an ease to the chemistry between Maggie the FMC and Aiden the MMC. Ms. Love makes a professional hockey player down to earth and real. It’s refreshing. I adored everything about this book. Highly recommend.

This was a short cute read. I believe it’s part of an interconnected series but I could be wrong.
Maggie and Aiden are super cute. I love their communication and just how pure the relationship is. I love their support of one another. They have a sweet meet cute.
Short. Sweet. And a guaranteed happy ending with minimal drama.

Not going to lie, I really like a story where the guy realizes that he is in his feelings first. I liked both of these characters and the path of their relationship. This pair was really good together and the author gave them time to grow together towards one another in a realistic and relatable way.

This was a cute storyline. I did enjoy reading it, I read in all in one night, but it just seemed like it was missing a little something. The interaction between Maggie and Aiden was cute. But it seemed like time jumped without any sort of warning and maybe I needed to have read other books to tie all the people together. But all in all it as good.

Likeable characters and an ok story. Not a fan of the unrealistic leaving the phone at home for the date. Even if you agree to stay off your phone for the date, you would still bring it in case of emergencies. So that whole situation broke my suspension of disbelief in a big way, and I didn’t enjoy the subsequent overreaction either. I also don’t see Aiden giving up his dream to coach hockey for kids to jump to working in a rodeo. wtf? Just bizarre writing choices there.
A charming short story about professional hockey player, Aiden who has recently been traded to Nashville where he visits an ice cream shop near the arena and meets the manager, Maggie. He's instantly smitten and absolutely loves her Rocky Road ice cream. Maggie is endearingly sweet and they hit it off immediately. This cute sweet, clean story was a heartwarming read. Likeable characters and with a Hallmark ending.
When ice cream meets ice hockey, will love happen?
Sweet clean romance that is a sports romance. Part of a series but you don’t have to read the rest for the book to make sense. Although once you read the first you’ll want to read the rest! Follow as Maggie and Aiden get over problems of the past and find a relationship that could last a lifetime.
Rocky Road Forever. This book of Mistakes & Promises series was my first book of Lily Love. Beautiful short read, with cute characters. Maggie and Aiden, Sweet Scoops manager and Hockey player, and, of course, Rocky Road. Warm and sweet read, enjoyed it!.

Plot: Aiden ends up at an ice cream shop after his first day of practice with his new hockey team. When he walks in, he is in awe of the beautiful girl who is behind the counter. Maggie is shocked to see Aiden standing in her shop. When he begins flirting with her, she is even more shocked. After he protects her from some drunk guys, she starts to fall for him. After an official date, sparks are flying. Can she trust that this celebrity will keep her heart safe?
What I liked: I liked that Aiden was intentional in everything he did. He treated Maggie with respect and didn’t let anyone harm her.
What I didn’t like: I didn’t love that this was a short story. I probably wouldn’t have picked it up, knowing that. That being said, there wasn’t much else I didn’t like about this story.
This is a sweet sports romance. I liked the characters. Reading the second chapter, I felt like I was reading the first chapter, because Aiden repeated the whole conversation he had with Maggie. Other than that, I enjoyed the book.
I received a free ARC, and this is my honest opinion.
Maggie and Aiden's love story is a low angst, low spice fun short story that will have you smiling throughout. An ice cream maker and hockey player's super sweet romance. A quick read to a HEA.

The third story in the Mistakes & Promises. Maggie and Aiden's short well written, sweet story. I enjoyed seeing her Dad get better and them get their happy ending. I received a copy of this book via Lily's Loveland Girlies and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I wasn't' thinking that Maggie was so set on moving on from Nashville but she was. Aiden fell hard for her first and he had quite a fight to change her mind. This was a great story.

Short hockey story that is fueled by the best ice cream in Nashville. He falls first and fast in this delightful short book. Not trying to impress a hockey player, she is naturally sunny and sweet, and falls quickly as well. Fun and sweet, but beware, you will be craving ice cream!!
You almost can't get much sweeter. Seriously. Ice cream and a cute hockey player.
Maggie owns the ice cream shop that new-to-town hockey star Aiden comes into, and he sweeps her off her feet. Love blooms, lives are transformed. Total HEA!
