I really wanted to love this book because Fated in Blood is STILL the best book I’ve read this year. So yes, I had high hopes that this sequel would deliver the same, but unfortunately, while I liked it, I didn’t love it.

NOTE: This is the second book in the series and cannot be read out of order. There might be spoilers for the previous book (so perhaps skip the synopsis). If you don’t want to see them, stop reading now. If you continue, either you don’t care about spoilers or you’ve already read Fated in Blood.

𝙏𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙜𝙝𝙩𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙁𝙚𝙚𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙨:
One of my biggest struggles with this book was how drastically Evangeline’s character shifted. In Fated in Blood, she was a complete badass who is confident, sharp, and smart. Here, she spends most of the book crying, feeling lost, and getting outmanoeuvred at every turn. Even when she does have moments of strength, they feel overshadowed by how often she is captured and beaten. It’s one thing to put a character through struggles, but she never really had wins to balance it out. Instead, she kept making naive decisions or walking into dangerous situations without thinking through the consequences. While I get that some of this was intentional to set up future events, it still made for a frustrating read at times.

Now, looking at the relationship dynamics, this book teeters between a love triangle, a potential throuple situation, and an extra obsessive side character love interest who just wants Evie because she’s pretty. Blake and Evie’s connection should have been the emotional anchor, but instead, we got a mix of possessiveness, jealousy, and outside interference.

Then there’s the pacing. This book feels like it has a lot of plot, but instead of unfolding smoothly, it jumps around so much that it’s hard to keep track of timelines. Some chapters move forward several days, while others feel like everything is happening all at once. The structure reminds me of watching a TV drama, where every chapter plays out like a standalone episode packed with different character arcs, betrayals, and conflicts. The second half felt more structured than the start, so it had an interesting balance between chaos and clarity.

That said, it’s still incredibly entertaining and captivating. The world-building continues to expand, and by the end, you feel like you’ve been through a whirlwind of betrayals, attacks, shifting allegiances, and power struggles.

What you'll find in this book:
- Vampires
- Reverse Harem
- MFMM
- Fated Mates
- Touch Her and You Die
- Enemies to Lovers
- Multiple POV
- Morally Grey MC's
- Magic & Witches

What an amazing second book in the series, L.A. McGinnis has absolutely delivered with this book, continuing on with extraordinary world building and character development. This series is perfect for lovers of vampire paranormal romance where the main characters are morally grey and the spice is damn near to burning. Full of twists and turns with secrest galore, we uncover so much more about all of the characters in a story where the stakes are even higher than before.

We begin this story following straight on from the events of book one and the fallout from the cataclysmic collision between Evie, Blake, and Riordan and their enemies. With plenty of enemies waiting to undermine the new infant kingdom being formed, it is up to our three main characters to fight with everything they have to keep hold of everything dear to them. However, with them divided due to disastrous events at the end of book one and the new situation they find themselves in, they have a lot to overcome to get to where they wish to be. We are along for the ride as they fight tooth and nail for themselves and each other while pushing back against those that would work against them.

Evie, Blake, Riordan, and even Malachi are all amazing characters, with such different personalities and goals that we get to explore further in this book. Each character, having to overcome their own personal obstacles with their secrets they are keeping close to their chests, will their secrets make them stronger or tear them apart. Evie undergoes such massive character development in this book, still remaining a strong badass, but now learning she can lean on those around her for some help in her time of need. Blake and Riordan have such a strong bond that we see distance within this book as they struggle to accept their feelings for Evie and where this puts their relationship now. Malachi, how much scheming can one individual do? The answer, a whole lot, he has his fingers in so many pies I was struggling to keep track. I am so intrigued to see what becomes of his character in the next book in the series.

The continued world building in this book, as well as continued learning about the magical system was amazing, and I'm already hungry for more. The plot and pacing of the book was excellent, everything felt perfectly placed for the reveals we had and the twists we experience. That ending was something else entirely, I did not see it coming and to leave us hanging like that - bananas. I'm already ready for the next book in the series, I need go know what happens next with these characters.

Thank you so much to L.A. McGinnis for teaching out and sending me an e-ARC to read and review!

Stand out lines/quotes:

My Thoughts:
This one is going to have your head spinning especially in that last 30 or so percent of the book. If I were a nailbiter I would probably be missing a few nails. This was spicy, frustrating (in a good way), thrilling and did I mention spicy. I was a teensy bit disappointed by Evie in this one, I feel like she lost some of her edge in this book but not so much that I was put off by it. By the end of this one I was ready to throw my e-reader and scream NOOOOOO! LA McGinnis has me hooked!

If Evie, Rior & Blake don’t get a break soon from pure chaos, I don’t know if I can keep it together. I didn’t think I’d be as obsessed with book two in this series as I was when I finished book one, but here I am still processing what the f&@! just happened and wanting the third immediately. Evie continues to be the bad ass that she was in the first but finally finding her vampire feet, per se, and saving Blake and Rior multiple times. Rior finally digging his head out of his ass when it comes to Evie and the “dreams” he had for the future of the kingdom. Blake, sweet Blake, that man makes me swoon. I truly cannot wait to see what happens in the next book. Also I need Angel to become a bigger role in these books, she deserves that.

This was a great second book in the series overall. I enjoyed seeing the relationships being built, destroyed, rebuilt. The emotional roller coaster everyone has to be on is huge and there’s so much going on at any given point in the story and I couldn’t get enough. There was so much love, banter, betrayals, hurt and so much more that made this story worth it. I can’t wait to see where this goes

Thank you to L.A. McGinnis for making me part of her ARC team and bestowing upon me an advanced copy of Fated in Secrets!

Fated in Secrets release date - 2/24/25

Well, I should’ve known. I should’ve known that this second installment of the Fated series would add layer upon layer of spice, magic, and evil forces for Evangeline and her hot vampires!!
Evie is now trying to navigate the survival of her and her sister while trying to forge bonds and trust with Blake, her mate, and Rohr, her king/Maker. Unfortunately, Blake must work to keep his bloodlust at bay and can’t get near her without her drinking her dry. Also, Rohr is inexplicably turning more power hungry and evil … which we find out later that it is because he is possessed by one of the Elders, thought to have been dead.
Throughout the book, Evie is also stalked and played by Malachi, who is now obsessed with having Evie for himself. I was somewhat surprised to hear that he is just as much of an Ancient as Tyrell, and also knows the secret to Evie’s strengths and magic.
One of the things that really aggravates me is Evie’s quick and rash decision making that never - and I mean EVER - goes her way. You would think that at some point, she would learn from past experiences. Yet here we are, seeing her give her blood to two-faced witches and continually thinking Malachi is capable of holding to his end of bargains. It’s mind-boggling! It also is absolutely NO surprise that the book ends with the cliff hanger that it does. But whew!! What a cliff hanger it is!
I was disappointed to see that Valaine’s and Collum’s demises were so … quick. I was expecting more, but based on how the book ends, I feel like the ride is going to get MUCH more exciting.
The sex scenes definitely do NOT disappoint! I felt like there were opportunities to have more, but with the inner turmoils that Blake and Rohr were facing, they made sense. And omg, THANK YOU for giving me the throuple I was craving!
I can’t wait to see what happens after the Evie-napping!

I received an ARC copy of Fated in Secrets and all comments and opinions given are of my own creation. I received an ebook copy in exchange for an honest review.

Fated in Secrets
Book 2 of 4: Nocturne Vampire Clan
By L.A. McGinnis

Wow! Although we came out off the cliffhanger at the end of Book One, the characters were immediately dealing with the aftermath of the changes in vampire rulership. Riordan, Blake and Evie struggle to work out their relationships surrounded by chaos and a lot of enemies. Blake is focused on staying away from Evie while trying to garner support for the new King of the Vampires, Riordan. Evie, feeling rejected and angry by Riordan’s coldness, and alone since she is unable to be near her mate, is determined to take care of her sister and find a way for them to get out and away from everything in the vampire world.

With enemies plotting around every corner, and Malachi playing everyone against each other, the plot twists keep coming, and the FMC and MMCs seem to be able to control less and less of their own fates. Mix in some sneaky witches, and the three main characters are constantly having to fight for each other and their own lives. I enjoyed the character development of Riordan and Blake, and learning more about the villainous Malachi, whom I truly dislike! I love the FMC, even if at times her rash decisions, tendency to keep secrets and need to do things on her own makes you want to yell: “Let them in and ask for help, girl!”

The spice picks up in this book and the plot deepens. Ending on a book-throwing cliffhanger (yes, I let rip some colorful expletives while reading the ending), I am once again happily and anxiously anticipating what happens next! If you love vampires, why choose, high stakes action and steamy spice, I would add this series to your TBR today.

I was so glad to have this second book in the Nocturne Vampire Clan series ready to go after finishing book one! The writing flows smoothly, the plot is engaging and constantly moving, and there’s a nice balance of spice woven throughout.

Evangeline never chose to be a vampire, that decision was made for her by a ruthless king desperate to save his kingdom. Now, trapped in a world of powerful immortals and dangerous desires, she’s caught between a bloody fate and a past full of secrets. Three formidable males each have their own plans for her: Riordan, the corrupted king who swears to protect her, Blake, the vengeful male seeking justice for his family, and Malachi, the seductive vampire who could be their downfall. They think they can use her, but they underestimate just how vicious she can be. The deeper she sinks into their dark world, the more she realizes she was meant for the shadows.

I really wish the MMCs would just get on board with loving Evangeline already, why is everyone fighting it?! Also, when a witch warns you about consequences… ASK what they are!

I loved diving deeper into the lore of the original vampires and their history. The book ends on a cliffhanger, and I’m so ready for book three! I can’t wait to see how this entire storyline unfolds.

Thank you to the author and R&R Book Tours for this ebook!

Fated in Secrets—A Masterpiece of Emotional Ruin 💀🔥

L.A. McGinnis, you owe me emotional compensation.

This book isn’t just a story—it’s an EXPERIENCE. A gut-wrenching, pulse-racing, soul-destroying experience that has left me questioning my entire existence. And I loved every second of it.

🖤 The twists? Had me gripping my Kindle like my life depended on it.

🖤 The action? Fast, brutal, unrelenting.

🖤 The steam? Illegal levels of heat.

🖤 The cliffhanger? CRUEL AND UNUSUAL PUNISHMENT.

And Malachi… 😭💀 I believed in you. I had HOPE for you. And now? My soul is crushed. Meanwhile, Blake and Evie? PERFECTION. Their chemistry, their longing, the way Blake completely owns my heart—I AM WEAK.

💔 Favorite Quote:

"You are mine and I am yours, and there is nothing in the world or the next that will ever break us apart." 😭 Blake & Evie, you are EVERYTHING.

⭐ 5 stars because this book broke me beautifully.

🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶 because the spice is dangerously sinful.

🚨 Consider this my official SOS for Fated in Ruins.

Final thoughts:

💀 If you love enemies-to-lovers tension so thick you could cut it with a dagger—READ. THIS. BOOK.

💀 If you love morally gray vampires who are dangerous, obsessed, and way too hot for their own good—READ. THIS. BOOK.

💀 If you hate cliffhangers that leave you emotionally wrecked—may the gods have mercy on your soul.

Preorder Fated in Ruins immediately, because I CANNOT WAIT. 😈🔥

Fated In Secrets is a thrilling, action-packed continuation of the Nocturne Vampire Clan series that grabs your attention from the very start. In this second book, Evie is caught in a complex struggle, torn between guarding her secrets and the overwhelming desire to protect those she loves. Riordan and Blake’s emotions are just as tangled, with both facing their own inner battles as unexpected events unfold around them.

The story is told through multiple POVs, giving readers an intimate look at the characters' conflicts and growth. This book has everything fans of paranormal romance crave: a slow-burn enemies to lovers dynamic, sizzling chemistry, and plenty of dark themes. With magic, curses, and powerful bonds at the center, the story keeps you on your toes, especially with its morally gray antiheroes.

The complex relationships, combined with intense action and steamy romance, make Fated In Secrets a must-read for fans of the genre. It’s a perfect pick for anyone who loves Why Choose romances with a touch of danger and intrigue.

Riveting read, dark and seriously hot.

The story picks up just after the end of book one and never lets up. An absolute page turner that leaves you breathless with the twists and turns.

The three MC’s, fearless fighter Evangeline Silverwood, her fated mate the stoic Blake Marten and his lifelong best friend the noble and tortured Riordan Graves, new king of the Nocturne Clan. The characters in these books are just so well drawn and engaging. There’s also a great supporting cast of other characters and L A McGinnis creates an alluring evil villain in Malachi.

The second book of four in the Nocturne Vampire Clan Series. Wish they were all available now so I could binge read them. These are not standalone stories you really need to read them in order. I definitely recommend this series to anyone who enjoys paranormal romance with a dark edge, full of suspense, intrigue and with a good side of spice.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This is the second book I’ve read by L A McGinnis and quite honestly I am

blown away. I will definitely be reading more of her stories.

What happens when you achieve your goal, but you’re not sure what to do next? That’s where we begin Fated In Secrets. Riordan, Blake and Evangeline took on Tyrell and won, but now what? The kingdom is theirs, but what have they really inherited and how will they keep control in such uncertain times. The work of obtaining loyalty and navigating the political landscape is proving harder than they could’ve predicted. Especially with so many enemies working against them. Book 2 in the Nocturne Vampire Series is just as addictive as the first. I enjoyed learning about the lore of the vampire clans and their ancient ancestors. Then you have the age old question, does love make you weak or make you fight harder for your dreams. The relationships between Evangeline, Blake and Riordan are strained for multiple reasons and that just complicates all of the issues that they are dealing with. And then there’s Malachi, who is a total wildcard. There are so many twists, turns, reveals and double crosses. This book really keeps you on your toes. And just when you think you know what will happen, trust me you don’t. Once again the romance is the perfect blend of sweet and spicy. These characters have chemistry for days. The banter is sharp and there are so many funny moments that just come out nowhere.

I think Angel has introduced me to my new favorite micro trope. A character that reads smutty romance novels. It’s such a nice little inside joke and never fails to make me laugh.

Can’t wait to continue this journey with these characters. I have a feeling things are about to get very interesting!

This is book two and it just gets better and better! Riordan and Blake are trying to save their fledgling monarchy. Evie, the pawn in everyone’s game. This book was so crazy good! So much happens, your head is constantly spinning. At times I wanted to scream, their self sacrificing love putting them in the worst situations. Enemies are on every side, Evie’s family, the other clan leaders who want to be King and a new threat that just seems to be getting bigger. Feelings deepen between mates and a fragile relationship is tested. Malachi is constantly scheming and I just want him destroyed. Witches who help and witches who betray… secrets, always more secrets. I couldn’t read fast enough. I fell asleep reading and woke up thinking about this book. That’s how good it is. The ending made me want to pull my hair out! I loved it so much and can’t wait for the next one. Such a book hangover, I need the next one out now!

I devoured this book just as eagerly as the first, and it does not disappoint. Picking up right where the last left off, it delves even deeper into the tangled web of politics, history, and complex characters that make up this treacherous world. The intensity is relentless, packed with angst, steamy moments, and a thrilling amount of action. Every corner hides a new plot, filled with both familiar enemies and unexpected new ones, leaving you never knowing who to trust.
This book brilliantly continues the story, keeping you on the edge of your seat with every twist and turn. It’s a dark, captivating ride that will leave you craving more.

I have no words… except that Fated in Secrets by L.A. McGinnis absolutely consumed me. This book delivers everything I love in dark paranormal romance—dangerous alliances, irresistible tension, and a heroine who is DONE being controlled.

Our FMC never asked to be a vampire, but now she’s caught in the deadly games of three powerful males:

🖤 Riordan – the corrupted king who claims he’ll protect her
🖤 Blake – the vengeful enemy who wants her ruin
🖤 Malachi – the seductive villain who just might destroy them all

Between one bed scenarios, fated mates, and shadow daddy energy, this book checked every single box for me. The world-building is immersive, the spice is 🔥, and the tension is next level.

Fair warning: This ends on a cliffhanger, so brace yourself. But if you love reverse harem, enemies-to-lovers, and high-stakes betrayals, you need this series in your life.

🦇 Would I recommend? Absolutely. If you’re a fan of vampire romances with found family, dark twists, and villains you’ll fall for, this is a must-read.

This is book 2 in the Nocturne Vampire clan series, and I could not put it down! This book is full of spice, action and plot twists. I recommend reading book one, Fated in Blood, before you dive into this one.

Evie, Riorden, and Blake may think that they can relax a little, but that’s not in the cards. Their enemies are still out there and planning to take over the kingdom. If that’s not enough, Riorden is battling an evil inside him. Blake is trying to find a way to calm his addiction to Evie‘s blood so he can be with her. Evie is trying to keep her sister Angel safe while uncovering the secrets of their enemies.

I love the writing style, the characters, the angst, and spice. The chemistry between the FMC and MMCs is off the charts and will leave you sweating. This series will pull you in and leave you begging for more. After that cliffhanger I need book 3 ASAP! Highly recommend.

This book is literally sh!t storm after sh!t storm. Evangeline, Blake and Rohr can’t not get a break. You think they are turning a corner and BAM another issues arises. These three have THE WORST luck. Really they shouldn’t be betting anytime soon because they will loose it all.

I LOVED every second of this read! we have action, betrayal, spice, blood, mind control. There is not one second when I was reading

where I felt safe. This kept me always on my toes and never wanting to put the book down!

Evangeline is a little rough around the edges and it makes her such a sharp strong female lead. She has such a hard time not taking everything on alone but we really see her start to trust here. Blake and Rohr are also such contrasting characters with Blake being more of the golden retriever and Rohr giving off the angsty brooding vibes. But man when the three of them are together 🥵.

And Eldric and Fiona? I LOVE them! They quickly became favorite side characters and I can not wait to see how they continue on in book 3!

This is definitely has what I would consider common vampire themes (blood, craving blood, lust, spice, more spice) but there are magical twists which are interesting and add a little depth to the power structure.

If any of this intrigues you and you haven’t read book 1, Fated in Blood, absolutely start there but if you’ve read book 1 then you DO NO want to miss out on continuing this series!

Fated in Secrets is the deliciously dark follow-up from where we left off in Fated in Blood. We are immediately thrust back into the aftermath of Tyrell’s death and what that means for the king and those loyal to him. Evie is still trying to find her feet as a newly turned vampire and how precarious her position is despite putting an end to the tyrannical evil that pervades under Tyrell’s willing hands.

Evie is once more a pawn to the machinations of a political hierarchy she doesn’t fully understand. Riordan is changing under the burdening weight of his new power; Blake is absent in an effort to control his cursed bloodlust; and Malachi waits in the shadows plotting, to what no one knows. Evie is left to find her own solutions as the shaky ground of their victory begins to crumble.

This second novel was well paced, full of political intrigue, high stakes and tempered with evocative sensuality. We are left breathless by the end and still full of so many questions. I cannot wait to see what happens next and I think you will be quite as ravenous too. I cannot recommend this series and this second book enough, and I hope you will dive in when it releases on February 24th.

There are so heavy topics covered, so please be sure to check content warnings.

This is the second book In this series and it picks up exactly where a book one left off. This book heavily focused on building the dynamics between the characters, changing those dynamics, and then building them again. It seems like every-time our characters had a moment of peace or a breakthrough something else went majorly wrong or they uncovered yet another problem that needed solving. I really enjoyed learning about the intricacies and politics within the different clans and the history of the race. Just when you think things are starting to make sense and you know where the story is going you are hit with another wave of mess that our characters have to navigate through. I couldn’t put this book down because I needed to know what would happen next and I was not disappointed. I loved watching both Evangeline and Rhors characters as they learned to let others in and rely on each other. The spice definitely kicked up a notch in book 2 as well! This book ended on a cliffhanger and I absolutely cannot wait to see what happens in book 3!

Fated In Secrets is the second book in the Nocturne Vampire Clan Series. It is a paranormal, why choose, fated mates, vampire romance.

Holy hot vampires! This story just keeps getting better. The epic action, the endless intrigue, suspense, deception, and mystery, the betrayal, secrets, and lies, and the merciless romantic hurdles make this story unputdownable.
Ap
Evangeline. Blake. Riordan. Their "S" tension and chemistry threaten to burn them alive!

Their enemies are great. Sacrifices are made. A king is going mad. A secretive, sly snake seeking revenge and the crown lives among them. A hero without power. A self-reliant heroine guarding her secrets and her sister at any cost. Honestly, what more could you ask for?

The writing, pace, flow, and plot of the story are brilliant. The characters, storytelling, storyline, character development, relationship development, and world building are also incredible. I'm absolutely addicted to this series and would definitely recommend it. I am super excited for more and cannot wait to see what happens next.

Malachi!!! WTF Buddy!!? Things are really heating up and progressing fast! But it’s always 2 steps forward, 100 steps back. Im loving the new characters (and seeing more of the side characters) in this book. I’m psyched for more Fiona and of course Eldric! I just love this series! I’m always on the edge of my seat and wondering about hidden agendas and power trips. Evie’s revenge list is getting long! Can’t wait for the next book! I voluntarily reviewed this after receiving a free copy.

The action literally doubled in this book!! I couldn’t breathe from the nonstop pacing and I loved every second of it!!!

There’s sooooo much for them to contend with and none of their problems had easy solutions. In fact, every single one of their problems was truly stressful af 😩

Malachi was such a douchebag and I seriously want to kick his a— myself. I hope Evie makes him suffer in the next book because omygod Malachi, grow UP!

But still, he is so sassy, dramatic, and hot. If Evie can turn him into another of her men, I’d love that lol

The spice was spicing and the plot was definitely plotting. I swear this series have me on a chokehold!!

This book picks up shortly after the first one concluded. Our trio has to figure out how to put things together, for the betterment of the kingdom, after Tyrell's death. We get to see more of Malachi in this story and I am 100% here for it! While Riordan is dealing with aftermath of the new power and Blake is helping secure new alliances, Malachi is plotting and obsessing. I read this book in one sitting, because the action, the twists, the turns and the spice had me needing more. This one also heads on a cliffhanger and I am here for the anticipation.
