Can someone who's always on the run finally find a place to call home?
Escaping an ex who's still chasing her and her daughter is harder than Tasia thought. Now that her coven is back together, everything should be perfect, right? Wrong.
Tasia is already wary of males after what she's been through and she can't afford to make any more ties to anyone. When her ex tracks her downs and threatens her once more she has to find a way to leave. But when her daughter's claimed a massive orc to be her new father, he keeps getting in the way of that.
Enka never expected to meet his fated mate, but when her daughter sinks her tiny teeth into his ankle, announcing that he now belongs to them, he discovers that he's exactly where he always wanted to be. And when his mate decides to run, he's going to run with her.
He'll protect her no matter the cost. And with the shadows of her past nipping at her heels, he's ready to fight for them. Keeping them safe is the easy part. Getting her to agree that they're meant to be together? Not so much.
I think I'm done after this one. The FMC, Tasia, annoyed me and I felt bad for Enka...initially. After a while I just wanted to tell him to move on and be done with the scraps he was getting from her.
Another one in this series I felt was long for no reason. One bright spot were the interactions between Enka and Gabbi. They were cute and endearing together.
On another note, maybe it was just me but it seems that the tense sometimes inexplicably switched to present instead of past tense for short periods. That was slightly annoying. Way more annoying was "I" being used when it should have been "me".
I love a giant cinnamon roll that is mush for her cute kid, and Enka delivers so perfectly. I also very much appreciate that Tania is not too stupid to live. While she does run, every move she makes, she tries to plan and be thoughtful about and realizes quickly that Enka is her best chance.
The one issue I have with this book is 100% a me issue (I promise I didn’t penalize the book for this, 4⭐️ is a good solid rating where about 75% of the books I enjoy end up). I didn’t read the first three books in the series first, so I have a lot of questions about the world building, that I suspect if I had read the first three books are answered.
Definitely recommend the book, but suggest starting with the first in the series.
A single mother running from her abusive husband decides to run with her daughter away from the coven and orc family they love. What she doesn't know is her true mate is there and has been waiting for her all his life. When her daughter sees him, she immediately knows it's the man in her dreams, the one that forms a family with her and her mom. When she calls him Abu (father) it warms his heart and bring tears to his eyes. He's determined to do everything in this power to make sure they are safe from any form of danger. The only thing missing from this story is an epilogue. Recommended: Read This Book!
This was a basic story for the genre. May be triggering for women that have suffered domestic abuse. But it was also really cute. I loved all the stuff with the little centaur boy, Jael, and Gabbi. Enkas' reactions were hilarious! If it wasn't for these comical moments I probably would've only given this 2 stars. I'm fine with predictable stories, but this one was a little too drawn out. The smut scenes were good. I can't explain why it was just a little 'off' for me. May be my own fault though, maybe a mood thing. This was my first book in this series and by this author. I was lured in by a tiktok booktok video! Bitey Gabbi was too cute to resist.
She ran to keep those she loved safe. He followed her and protected her and her child. She was his mate and he was hers. Their feelings intensified as they got to know each other with the help of her daughter. As she struggled with the memories of the abuse from her husband, she also realized the difference between the two men. Once they solved the problem her husband created, they got their HEA.
So I found this from the authors' tiktok account and IMMEDIATELY began reading it! My favorite part about this entire thing is that there isn't a single OUNCE of the miscommunication trope! I couldn't be happier with how the book played out 🥰 i will definitely be reading more of this authors work!!! Amazing 10/10
I loved it. This was super cute. Fated mates with an orc and a witch. Fmc is a single mother and Enka claimed both expeditiously. Loved the bond between Gabbi and Enka. Slow burn cuz Tasia is traumatized from her last relationship. She’s currently on the run from her abusive husband so it takes her a while to loosen up. I enjoyed reading.
All my favs: fated mates, forced proximity, found family, he falls first! I love this series and this was such a great addition! Great slow burn, protective mate, and totally satisfying ending! Love love love! Can’t wait for the next!
This is a cute story with an adorable little girl. I enjoyed this, but I do wish there was an epilogue to see this couple a month or year from now all settled in. Also we need more adventures of Gabbi and Jael and Enka’s reaction lol!
This was so stinking cute! Gabbi was really the star of the book 😂 I feel like the author did a good job writing about abuse without over doing it. We got a clear picture that David was an unhinged man. We then got to see Enka taking the slow and patient steps to help Tasia heal.
This book is the slowest burn of the series so far. It is the story of Enka and Tasia. Enka is the youngest brother of the three orcs who came over from the other plane with Zara. Tasia is a member of Zara‘s coven and a mom; she was also introduced in the second book.
The MMC was such a good and caring man. He was perfect for someone like the FMC. Sadly the plot of "FMC fleeing from an abusive stalker ex and acting like a headless chicken when he turns up" is just difficult to do well. I don't like to call a FMC too dumb to live, but this one made one big tdtl decision in the beginning aka leaving the safeguarded home where she lived with her witch coven and the Orc WARRIOR pack to "protect" her coven from her ex....And she also took her toddler daughter with her. And she lost her magic shortly before running because she had to defend herself with her powers against her human ex (attacking a human with magic gets your magic automatically blocked by like an agency). So yeah, I would have to call that too dumb to live. Also, there were some editing mistakes in the story with switching tenses, using the wrong tense and some forgotten words. The best thing about this was the decadent, delicious and truly well done spicy scene at like 84%.

Okay, I did not expect to fall head over heels for a monster romance, but here we are—and I regret nothing. This book was an absolute delight! 🥰
Enka? Oh, Enka. That Orc was the ultimate lovable goofball—overprotective, sweet, and such a hopeless romantic. I swear, he simped so hard and I was here for it. Every scene with him had me grinning like a fool.
Gabbi, the kid? A chaotic little ray of sunshine with a personality that could light up a cave. I laughed out loud more than once thanks to that tiny whirlwind.
And Tasia—my heart. She was so gentle and guarded, and watching her slowly open up to Enka was just… chef’s kiss. The way she let him love and protect her and Gabbi? I melted.
The found family vibes were strong and oh-so-sweet. I never thought I’d be into monster romance, but this book was the perfect cozy, quirky escape to yank me out of a reading slump. 10/10 would recommend if you want giggles, feels, and a big green Orc who’ll steal your heart.
