A great series

This is the second book in the series and Acid Vanilla is out for revenge on the assassination team she used to work for.
She has seven bullets one for each member of the team who have betrayed her.
She is going after them one at a time and this time it's the man who trained her and who she fell in love with but that will not stop her.
A really great book and hard to put down once started can't wait for next one.

Seven Bullets is the second book in the Acid Vanilla Series and is an action-packed thriller.

I loved this thriller and cannot wait to read more in the series. Seven bullets for seven deadly assassins. That is all that is needed by Acid after she is betrayed. This book is well written, fast-paced, and has an intriguing storyline.
I read and reviewed this book with no obligation.

The first book in the series was a crackling action thriller. The follow up is pretty average. Acid Vanilla is burning with revenge, aiming to take down the assassin organization she was working for. One of whom is in Hanoi, working with an underground militia which aims to topple the government. Acid gets embroiled with both. Very simple plot. I'll give the author benefit of doubt and try the third one as well.

This is book two of the Acid Vanilla series and continues the story of one of the best ever assassin’s in the business. It takes place after her mother was killed in Berlin, Germany and Acid has vowed to kill all those involved and who are still part of Caesar’s Annihilation Pest Control, assassin business. She is presumed dead after this event and is surprised that Caesar hasn’t sent his assassins after her, nor put a price on her head. She has her hit list now and there are seven names on that list! He has set up a new Nomadic Assassins Network (NAN) and it seems one of his assassins is travelling to Hanoi to speak with a local group calling themselves The Cai Moi. It seems they are looking to expand their arms, heroin and possibly human trafficking range.

Acid’s first kill location, found for her by her flatmate and former mark Spook Horowitz, is in Manchester at a Pride drag queen event. But everything goes completely haywire and not as planned, leaving her badly injured. The only person she can get to for help is a former assassin called the Dark Man or The Dullahan, but he is out of the business completely. Another of the group of assassins tracks her there, but she gets away. Dullahan or Jimmy as his actual name is, says he will help her to get the rest of them and has the computer knowhow and equipment set up to do so. It will be payback for the assassin who came and shot up his home, his castle. But she has to kill the only man she got romantically involved with on a job, years ago and who she stills feels attracted to!

This Cai Moi organization seems to be eliminating all of their competition in the city, starting with anyone dealing drugs! A lady she comes across in a small restaurant called Tam, is the first she witnesses being hassled by young men from this organization for protection money and when she comes back past, she can’t help but stop and assist. Afterwards she meets her friend Vinh Gia Phan, who runs an English Language School, and has also just been hit by some of these men. He is trying to get Acid to help him find Tam’s son Huy, who had started dealing drugs and disappeared some six months ago after an argument. Vinh believes the Cai Moi have him, but he hasn’t turned up dead and mutilated like most other dealers. But the Cai Moi have much bigger plans than anyone could imagine.

The story continues as Acid starts to track down Spitfire, the next target on her hit list, but also the one that is most personal and connected with her. The only man she let herself love! Now she has Vinh helping her get about town, as he searches for Huy, but he has a hidden side to him, that may prove helpful to her as she clashes with minions from this new group of thugs in town! She needs to ensure she doesn’t hesitate this time, as she did with Caesar, just after her mother was killed. She is leaving a trail of dead bodies behind her and still nowhere closer to reaching her target and will be running out of time. Another cracking and fairly explosive book in the Acid Vanilla series. She is still determined to follow her old role as assassin, rather than Avenging Angel like Spook wants her to setup on her return. Full of action and some very deadly tricks being used by both Acid and Vinh. Still more to come from Acid Vanilla on her hunt for vengeance! I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.

Received a complimentary copy of this novel from the author in exchange for an honest review.
This is the second instalment in the tale of Acid Vanilla, an elite assassin. Acid has in her possession 7 bullets, each with a name painstakingly etched along its length. Now working solo but with the technological assistance of her former “mark” Spook Horowitz, she is a woman hell-bent on getting revenge upon her former boss and colleagues.
After ridding herself of 1 bullet, her insatiable desire for revenge tracks another former colleague to Hanoi, but this kill is made all the more difficult as not only was he her former mentor but also her lover. Throw into the mix an underground organisation plotting to overthrow the government and the triads, as the body count starts rising will she find her target?
Loved the story line as Acid Vanilla is a no nonsense, one woman, kick ass killing machine, although in this instalment she showed a bit more of her softer side, which was nearly her downfall.
Look forward to the next tale when no doubt there will be more bullets spent as she gets nearer to achieving her goal.

More boring and dragged

First book was kind of interesting and promising to we would have thrilling story through out the series. But book 2 , action in Vietnam, was a joke , dragged and boring. The Author wants us to believe that Acid Vanilla is the best assassin in the world but she makes so many fatal mistakes that hardly can escape her own death .

The second book in the Acid Vanilla series.

Payback time, the quest for vengeance.

Seven bullets for the seven people who need to be killed for their complicity in Acid’s mother’s death.

We were left wondering at the end of the last book, if Spooks computer skills would be able to bring these new targets into sharp focus and the reach of Acid’s guns.
Things seem to have stalled somewhat, left in an impasse. A missed chance in Berlin and perhaps a loss of resolve to finish this. Then a lucky break and a chance to take someone out. Such events point up and reveals how difficult this whole project was from the start. There is a wider need for professional backup and detailed information. Perhaps only by taking risks can Acid find adequate support and meaningful intel.

I really liked this dose of realism. It saved the book spiralling into fantasy and make believe. It also gives space to consider the sense of betrayal and going against the only ‘family’ Acid had known. This psychological aspect of her revenge is an interesting topic and I was pleased to read here about its implications for success or failure.

I also thought the way the author introduces new characters to assist Acid made for a more rounded adventure and move us away from “me against the world”. Acid also has to change from the lone assassin to the team player, relying and trusting others.

The Manchester elements were brilliant and a fitting tribute to that City but the bulk of the story takes place in Vietnam. This was an interesting location and enabled wider plot lines to develop.

Still actioned packed with thrilling set pieces of stealth and deadly confrontations. While it lacks the impact of the first book it carries the story on and crucially allows the character growth.
Acid’s journey is a longer one than just seven bullets but despite the amount of ammunition discharged in this book the story is believable and the reader remains supportive of her aims.

Hoping for an increasing believability factor in this second outing with Alice aka "the world's greatest assassin." Not only am I disappointed, as a bonus I get a weird deviation into the 80's with a rip-off Chuck Norris Vietnam scenario. For being an expert killer for over a decade and a half, Alice does little to validate her abilities or her status.

Hattersley phoned in an uprising faction in Vietnam as a smoke screen to cover the fact that his revenge plot is paper thin. He never builds any tension, credibility for Alice, nor depth in his characters. Just - here come the bats in my head again (giving Alice superpowers - which she fails to capitalize upon), or veiled threats and empty exposition until someone saves Alice from her self-imposed predicament. Hard to fathom that Alice is the protagonist in this story.

He even takes jabs at older Brits who fantasize over James Bond scenarios, while writing his own variation of the scenario (being a Brit himself) for Spitfire thus causing the demise of the character.

Sorry, but if someone has a gun to your head threatening to kill you, then bloviates for several minutes without shooting you first, then he is an idiot (and a poorly written Bond-villain, at best). Honestly, without the monologues, I would rather read about Spitfire. Alas that isn't happening. Alice was dead three ways from Sunday before the gun to the head situation, to put it in perspective. She isn't lucky, just written that way.

Trying my hardest to understand where the 4* ratings are coming from. And coming up empty for a redeeming factor for a recommendation. If you are into comedic Bond skits, this one is for you.

Thanks for reading.

Acid Vanilla IS The Best In Her Field

This is the second in a serieson Acid Vanilla. Acid Vanilla has been burned by the organization that trained her to be a top level assassin. They burned her because of a mark who only wanted to avenge the death of a woman and mother at the hands of a sleazy pervert. That mark and Acid are now in the wind as Acid slowly eliminates the rest of the organization that she previously worked for. So far Acid has eliminated more than half of her fellow assassins. Her prime target, however, is her former boss, the head of Inihialation Pest Control, Beowolf. Her search has taken her to the USA, Europe, Eastern and Southeastern Asia and points beyond. She will NOT be stopped!

I don't know. Giving this book 3 stars seems excessive.
I mean I loved the first one but this one was so different.
AV seemed like a pushover, working with others who are looking for their son. I mean Come On, who cares? You're Acid Vanilla, assassin for hire, well used to be, now she's just righting what she feels is a wrong.
I hope the next installments are not as unbloody as this one. I want more action, more killing, more giving those what they deserve (in her mind anyway).
Also, how about more Spooky? :)

Another quick read and enjoyable peek into Acid Vanilla. Credible story lines, proper use of character development, I'm enjoying this series very much. Acid Vanilla is no longer simply a killing machine. This new dynamic improved Seven Bullets and also the author in my opinion. Won't lie, I've got 8 must reads waiting, but I will be back

This is the second in the Acid Vanilla series, although there is also an excellent book explaining he back story.
Acid Vanilla has returned a little more vulnerable and with a vendetta. This is an exciting thriller set in Vietnam with the potential for a gang of young men to overthrow the world as they know it. I’m looking forward to seeing what she faces next.

This is the second book in the series. I think it can fairly be called "fun beach reading".

As I write this, I'm in pretty bad pain and unable to move much, and I don't feel like deep thinking. This book is perfect for my situation. Lots of action, some interesting characters, and a sense of vengeance fairly meted out.

The saga continues!

While the story is fast-paced and interesting, it seems that the editing could be improved upon. In the Kindle edition, I found a few errors that should have been caught. Other issues might have been due to local slang.

Acid tough

I wasn't sure if I would like this series. But after reading the first 2 books I'm hooked. Acid is truly incredible and honest with herself. She doesn't want help but finds it anyway. I know that she will succeed.

Another action packed story. I was pleasantly surprised that it did not fall into a predictable fighting partnership of Acid and Spook. While Acid is not loveable, there is a vulnerability that comes to the surface and her whole life has been lived as survival of the fittest.
