Lex

Producing my first major film was supposed to be my chance to prove I belong in this industry. Then Summer Strawbridge walked into my office, all sharp edges and unrelenting fire.

She’s not the director I wanted, and I’m definitely not the producer she expected. Every meeting turns into a battle of wills. Every moment with her tests my patience… and my control. But there’s no denying her vision—or the way she gets under my skin.

I can’t decide if I want to kiss her or fire her.
Maybe both.

But with six months to pull off the impossible, one thing’s we’re either going to make the best movie of our lives… or we’re going to destroy each other.

Summer

This was supposed to be my big break—a chance to prove I’m more than my past. But then I met Lex nepo baby, arrogant prick, and annoyingly good-looking.

He doesn’t respect me—or even like me—but we’re stuck together. And as much as I hate it, he challenges me, sees me in ways no one else has.

I can’t afford to fall for him. My career and pride are on the line. But every step with him feels like we’re heading straight for disaster—and I’m not sure we’ll survive the impact.

Missy is an Australian author who writes kissing books with equal parts angst and steam. She loves writing stories about billionaires, enemies to lovers, and the boy next door- just to name a few.

When she’s not writing, she’s taking care of her two daughters and doting husband.

Inspired by the acreage she lives on, Missy regularly distracts herself by visiting her orchard… some days more often than writing!

Then there’s her overweight cat, Charlie, chickens, and bees if she needed another excuse to pass the time.

And, when the day ends, there’s nothing better than unwinding with a gin and tonic as the sunsets surrounded by the ones she loves.

There’s actually a few tropes I dislike but enemy to lovers is one. Don’t get me wrong, I love a head strong person, someone who can stand up for themselves, can be assertive and gets their job done. But what is the attraction in someone being a straight up assface? Maybe it’s my own personality of liking to start off on a good foot before having and/or needing to be aggressive. Or maybe it’s because I dislike rude, uncalled for behaviour.
This is how I took Summer’s attitude. While I am compassionate about her past, I just don’t understand why someone feels the need to let others dim their light to the point that they act like a brat. Poor Lex done absolutely nothing to receive the rudeness he got and to be honest what would attract you to someone like that? I guess good looks huh?😂 or maybe people really love a spitfire personality? Well clearly they do.

Ok now that my rant is over, let’s skip to the good parts😂
I thought the plot was great, I loved that they were creating a movie, I loved the passion that Summer had for her art & how much effort she put into it. I loved how down to earth Lex was and how he made time for all his workers. I loved that Danica turned out to be great for their movie and that there wasn’t any drama created with her. I also loved Claudia, a great supportive friend who also tells you how it is, is the kind of friend we all need😍

Oh boy did I feel all of Summer’s emotions on that private screening for big Al & the investors. My heart was in my throat with her & I understood her reaction to Lex’s non-actions!
I really loved the end, he done what should have been done & of course what women wouldn’t get naked after that😂😂

No matter what trope, what storyline, you always get me Missy, love your work!

Another fabulous instalment to the ELITE MOLA!! I was waiting to see how this one would play out after the set up from the first book, the characters seemed so different…..I wondered how they would come together (pardon the pun!) but in true Missy style they rocked each others world, and mine reading it! Summer was fierce, yet vulnerable, she craved what had been taken from her and rightly so. Lex just wanted to find his own way and do things on his terms, prove himself, not his father’s successor but someone who made it there because of his skill! Both of them so vulnerable under it all, but it all came good, loved the way Lex took things into his own hands. What an ending! Can’t wait for travis’ story next! Thank you Missy for gracing us with yet another smash!

4 stars – Book 2 in the new Elite Heirs of Los Angeles series. This is an enemies-to-lovers trope and workplace romance with Lex and Summer. Summer is movie producer and Lex is the executive producer in his father’s studio. While they disagree on everything from the beginning regarding the movie, they have an insane amount of chemistry. Each has their own reasons for wanting the film to be successful and they work towards that goal. It is such a good story! Chemistry is palpable between these two main characters, and they have a great supporting character cast. Summer has the best friend ever! Can’t wait to read the next book in the series.

A big thank you to Missy Walker for allowing me to read an ARC.

Lex and Summer could not be more different—he’s all cool control, she’s fiery determination—but somehow, together, they’re absolute perfection. Their banter crackles, the tension is off the charts, and watching their relationship shift from rivals to something much deeper is pure romance gold.

Missy Walker nails the enemies-to-lovers vibe, layering it with emotional depth and just the right amount of spice. The push and pull between Lex and Summer keeps the pages turning, and their chemistry practically leaps off the page.

If you love opposites attracting, characters who challenge each other, and a story with heart and heat, Broken Rules delivers. A fantastic addition to the Elite Men of Los Angeles series—I’m already excited for what’s next!

Another good book by Missy Walker. I enjoy these books as her writing is easy to read and follow and I can devour them quickly, although then I am waiting for the next one. Personally I am not sure this is one of my favourites of this series or the elite men as a whole. I liked the development in both Lex and Summer’s characters and their storyline, but I don’t think they will be one of my favourites. But that’s personal and maybe others will love these two.
As always a good amount of spice… I think Missy always hits the right balance of spice and story.
Always look forward her new releases and I must say I am looking forward to the next one based on the excerpt.

Ok fireworks on this one.

When Summer shows up to direct her first feature film, she gets producer Lex who gets under her skin and not in a good way.

These two have so much friction in their relationship. They are attracted to each other but both need to stand their ground. But that chemistry and dynamic is just explosive from start to finish. Working together they eventually work out it.

So well done. Missy gives us an original story that is relevant and full of banter, intensity and eventually loads of intimacy. I loved Lex and Summer. Their vibe made this a must read till the very end. Can't wait for more!!

Another great book in the elite men of Los Angeles series! This is the story of Lex and Summer. She is a brilliant film maker and he is the son of owner of a big film studio. They are forced to work together. At first they dislike each other but that soon turns into lust. Their chemistry is blood hot.

This was a refreshing story. Something different from the standard stories. As always, Missy again wrote a realistic story, full of love and devotion. Lex really was a perfect book boyfriend. I loved it and devoured this book!

This next edition of the elite series continues with captivating characters thrown together and each dealing with their own issues. Finding a common ground isn't expected but their appreciation for each other's work only enhances their attraction. Like all good stories, their dislike to desire is real, captivating and steamy.
Another great story that mixes great character drama with great romance. A must read, and if this is your first Missy Walker book, you are in luck, there are many more for you to dive into.

I have been so excited to read Lex’s story and learn more about him since he first appeared in Scarred Heart and I have to say this did not disappoint!

Most of Missy’s previous books which explored the workplace romance trope took place in corporate/business work environment settings so it’s a nice change to have a director and producer working on a film for a change. If you’re a fan of the classic enemies to lovers trope with a sprinkle of opposites attract and workplace romance, this is the book for you!

Even better than Book 1—hotter, deeper, and more intense!
Missy Walker absolutely delivered with Broken Rules! I enjoyed Book 1, but this one took things to another level. The chemistry is hotter, the drama runs deeper, and the emotional twists had me fully invested. The Elite Men of L.A. are bold, dangerous, and irresistible, and the heroine holds her own in all the best ways. If you loved the first book, get ready—Book 2 raises the stakes and doesn't let go!

This was a great read! Was so excited to get into it and smashed it out over night (my children definitely
Didn’t appreciated it the next day!)
Loved the FMC & MMC… both so similar, but would never realise at first. Both stubborn, yet passionate, both being done wrong by someone, only to make them more stubborn/passionate yet also reserved in a way perhaps.
Love it Missy, like your other reads, great story. Give it a crack today!!!

Just when I think Missy can’t write another book better than the last, she goes and does it. Lex and Summer were amazing. Again the supporting characters and friendships were top notch and I wish everyone had a bestie like Summer did. Lex’s grand gesture was so sweet and he won me over too. Loved it.

The Elite Men of LA continues with this enemies to lovers story. It’s not my favourite trope but Missy made this one angsty and the FMC & MMC couldn’t keep their hands off each other. Also I loved its set within a Hollywood film studio without being too cliche. A great read meant it was completed within 24 hours

Summer has a friend that close to her but her dress is not so good. She produce films.. Lex was sure he wanted her to do his film. He could find any one as good as she was.. As hey work together it was fight after fight . He could not decide if he want to kiss or fires her. That how much friction they had between each other. They only had six months to pull it off.

AHH! I can't even describe how perfect this book was! Lex and Summer's story was so beautifully written! I loved Summer's firey attitude and her sheer determination to attain her goals 😍 Lex reminded me a lot of Connor from the Elite Men of Manhattan; inheriting the family business with hopes to make it better.

Missy never disappoints. Lex's dedication to getting what he wants and being who he wants is only magnified when he matches with Summer and her dedication to her artistic craft! They started off lead by high emotions and past disappointments to find that together they can accomplish both of their hearts' greatest desire. Love the chemistry! Missy always leaves me craving the next story!

I enjoyed this book as part of the series however it’s not my favourite. I like the different story of the film director/producer but felt there was more to the story that we missed out on, e.g Alexander’s cancer diagnosis announcement seemed very quick

In true Missy Walker fashion, we have another hot enemies to lovers story. The early tension between Summer and Lex was palpable. But soon we saw the barriers and misconceptions disappear. This book has a great mix of love, romance, betrayal and redemption. Loved it!

This book gets a 4.5 ⭐ from me.
It's no surprise that I absolutely love everything written by Missy Walker and she once again delivers a phenomenal book. One that I absolutely devoured in one sitting.

Lex is definitely a character you love, while Summer honestly leaves something to be desired. I get that her past makes her extremely fearful of trusting anyone, that she uses anger, sarcasm and harsh words as a defense mechanism so she doesn't get hurt again....but she was truly a little frustrating. She would rather shoot herself in the foot than ask for help from anyone. She is so stubborn that she almost blows up her career and her chance at happiness.
I don't know how her best friend didn't slap Summer silly!!! But this is the making of a good book right?

I was definitely happy with how everything ended and was impressed with how Lex stood up to his father and the investors. I love it when a slick, single-minded, old-fashioned bully has their plans completely backfire on them!

Looking forward to the next book in this series!

Broken Rules - Summer & Lex
-Workplace Romance
-Enemies to Lovers

Summer has had her heart broken and professional world turned upside down when she is hired to direct a new film, with Lex Landry as the executive producer. These two clash from the beginning, have differing opinions on how this film should go, but behind all that the tension their desire for each other grows. While Summer works to overcome the studio tearing her film apart, Lex steps up and takes back control from his father and shows Summer’s masterpiece to the world. You’ll love the second book in the Elite Heirs of Los Angeles!

This enemies to lovers, workplace romance might be my favourite book by @missywalkerauthor to date.

Summer is a movie producer who was scorned by her ex and has to fight hard to be seen in the movie industry. Lex is the executive producer on the movie which is being produced by his father’s studio. She thinks he’s just there because of dad’s money, he thinks she’s taken the job he wanted and resents her for it.

The chemistry between the two is fiery from the outset, the characters have strong and complex backgrounds which adds to the story so well. It’s a story like we’d imagine Hollywood to be like.

It’s fast paced yet brings all the heat and drama it needs and is a satisfying story.

Thank you Missy for the e-ARC of this story. Loved it and can’t wait for the next instalment in the Elite Men of Los Angeles series.

Broken Rules is book 2 in the Elite Men of Los Angeles series, about four best friends - Lex Landry, Spencer Collins, Travis Knight and Clayton Manning. Privileged, powerful, sexy men who have no trouble finding a date but finally meet their match when they meet a strong woman who might just give them their happily ever after.

Lex Landry is excited. His father owns one of the biggest film studios in Hollywood, Landry International. As heir to the throne, Lex has grown up around the movie business, waiting for his chance to make a name for himself as a serious producer. And it's finally here - he's been given his first move to executive produce.

Only, his father has gone over Lex's head and has already chosen the script, lead actors and the director, and impossibly halved the production time.
Even more impossible is the thought of working with director Summer Strawbridge.
Summer has a reputation of being notoriously difficult, demanding and antagonistic.

But this movie needs to be successful, to ensure the future of the studio.

Lex can usually 'melt the panties off' any woman with just a smile, but Summer isn't easily charmed. But as they work together, and Lex sees Summer's passion for the film, dedication and strength of character, he soon wants that passion for himself.

Delving into the difficulties of working in an industry fraught with inequality, sabotage, secrets and lies. Where profit is king. Private lives never stay private. And betrayal is just around the corner.

A thoroughly enjoyable read, enemies to lovers trope, with plenty of spice.

Travis's story is coming up next in 'Reluctantly Yours'

I received an ARC e-book in return for an honest review.
