A gripping apocalyptic series with a shockingly believable catalyst.
I wanted to wait to review these novels until I had finished the entire trilogy. An author friend of mine created a BookVision trailer for this series and I instantly knew I would like it!
The novel jumps right into the thick of the apocalypse without wasting a step, which I really liked. It follows one core family and all of their close friends as they band together to defend themselves against the marauders they know will emerge once the power, food, and water trickle to nothing. The series has several shifts as the apocalypse drags on and society crumbles apart. Each change is believable and feels like a natural progression that the country would take in this sort of scenario.
The series is a great read that is a real page turner as I found myself reading the next chapter, and the next chapter, unable to put it down.
Overall it reminds me of the 1 second after series, but with more of a hometown feel. Each character was unique and detailed and as I read along with the story, I found myself feeling like I was just another neighbor along for the ride of survival!

Fast moving thriller
This gripping series will captivate and entertain. An inside look at a dystopian world fueled by actual current events. I just finished book 3 and look forward to book 4.

I was a bit unsure about this series with the first book but the characters have really grown on me. Excellent plot and character development and rings true
