Second Chance was my first Natasha Preston book, and I have to say I was not disappointed!! I loved it, easily 5 stars!! I met Natasha last month and she was so so lovely!!

This was a romance filled with steam and angst!! If you're looking for a swoon worthy book but with a great storyline as well, then this book is certainly for you! It had me on a roller coaster of emotions from start to finish! I thought I had the plot all figured out and then there was THE TWIST!! It blew me away!!

Logan had definitely made his way to the book boyfriends list - move out of the way Chloe, he's mine now!!

I thought this book was okay but there were several things that I didn't like about it. This story was about how this girl named, Chloe loses her boyfriend in a bomb accident. It has been over three years that he has been gone. At first she was completely upset and didn't know how to cope but up until about two years later she tries getting her life back on track. And the person that helps her is, Logan, Jace's brother. Jace is the one that supposedly died. Logan has been in love with Chloe even before Jace died. He doesn't want to tell her because he doesn't want her to scare her away. And he's afraid that she doesn't feel the same way back. I thought in some parts it could have gone quicker and in some parts it was a little boring. Chloe tries to move on by trying to date a different boy. That doesn't work out because she doesn't feel a spark between them. And soon after she realizes that she likes Logan. It wasn't planned and she tried everything she could to stop it. She felt guilty about wanting her ex-boyfriend's brother.

They do end up getting together and she keeps running away. And when they try to tell everyone about it they judge her except for Logan's parents. Logan's parents feel like they deserve to be happy and get happiness where ever it comes because you shouldn't lose that opportunity. But it kind of got me frustrated at how she kept running away. And they broke up the same day the whole family judged them. It didn't make sense. She did it like literally right away. The thing that did shock me the most when I didn't think things would get anymore interesting or better than what it was, was when Jace popped up at the house out of know where. So the story goes that he was in Witness Protection because he and one other girl saw who were the terrorists during the bombing incident. He was a way for three years and led them to believe that he was dead. I thought that was definitely so messed up. I understand that he didn't want anything to happen to them but he could have found any way at a to call them to let them know. It was terrible when they believed he was dead.

Anyways Jace is jealous that Logan stole his girlfriend while he was away because he still has feelings for her. But in the end Chloe and Jace learn to become friends. And Logan and Chloe stay together. They even move in together. And there's a second book to this. I thought maybe this would be perfectly fine with this ending. But I guess the other book is in someone else's perspective. And I also got a lot of vibes from Oakley and Cole story as well or maybe I'm just used to her writing. I'm glad there was a surprise with Jace being alive or this would have not made it too well.

2.75 stars. I really enjoyed the beginning of this story. The dilemma and the tension were terrific. But after all the longing and torture, BAM, Logan and Chloe are together for a few days. They kiss and that's it, no more tension. I mean, okay, but it was strange to go from so much longing to a relationship with no details about how it happened. Then Chloe kept running away, which was annoying. And Jace is magically alive, so there's drama there. But the beginning is the best.

Also, I felt like the grammar got worse as the book moved on, which is annoying.

This book was so intense. Chloe and Jace had an amazing relationship until he died while touring in London. It took 3 years for Chloe to get her life back on track but she didn't do it alone. Logan was there every step of the way to help guide, and in doing so he found himself again. They never anticipated falling for one another but it happened.

***SPOILER***
Come to find out Jace never died... he was in protective custody.

To anyone looking for a suspenseful but beautifully romantic read, this is a great book to start.

I was lucky to be given an ARC of this, I love all Natasha's books and this one didn't let me down,
Logan and Chloe's story I thought was beautiful full of love and some heartbreak, Logan had been in love with Chloe for a long time but loved her from afar because she was in a relationship with his brother Jase, but after tragedy strikes Logan and Chloe help each other to heal, and bring each other back to life.

I love Logan and he has become one my fave BBF. He is funny got a potty mouth and did I mention HOT!!!

The twist in the story near the end had me biting my nails thinking, where is she going to go with this??? But I got the ending I wanted.

Would definitely recommend this, in fact I already have. :)

Decently written, but repetitive, drunk, and angsty.

I'm good with romance after tragedy, and unlikely couples that may actually be too-likely couples. Back and forth while they figure out whether or not they like each other? Sure, as long as it's entertaining.

This one, however, just didn't work for me. One brother dies, one is left longing for his brother's girl, interspersed with lots of alcohol. Said girl is attracted to the remaining brother but doesn't know what to do.... But hey, alcohol! I didn't touch a drop and feel hungover from the 40% of the book I read before I realized I don't really care what happens to the characters. Per other reviews, there are some very seXXXy scenes, but I didn't make it to them.

An example of the writing, which is decent but too drawn out for my liking:

"Her lips were facing me, soft and ready, and I wanted to attack them more than I wanted anything else. She might scream if I just went for it. If she shoved me off, I could pretend I was still half-asleep and disorientated, speaking a load of rubbish that wouldn’t make sense, so she would think I was sleep-kissing. I was acting like that thought hadn’t ever entered my mind. Every time I had a drink, I’d want to kiss her, so I could blame the alcohol if it went wrong. The thing that would stop me was the possibility that it could be awkward after. I didn’t want that with Chloe. I wanted everything with her."

Second Chance by Natasha Preston
Spice: 0/5
Rating: ⭐️⭐️/5 stars
{Spoiler Free Review}

Chloe’s boyfriend, Jace, died during a terrorist attack. Logan, Jace’s brother, was the person she turned to when her thoughts became unbearable and She made him a better person.
The problem is, the lines begin to blur and they struggle to decide what is okay, and what is not.
My husband actually recommended this book to me, as he is the biggest fan of Natasha Preston. However, this is my first book by her.
I really loved watching the relationship between Logan and Chloe blossom throughout the book, however, even though the plot twist was unexpected, I do not like how it was carried out. Without giving away any spoilers, I cannot go into much detail but I do feel like issues were resolved way too quickly and the book continued to run in circles.
This book was just not my cup of tea and my husband said it was a 4 star for him! If the synopsis interests you, I would definitely recommend giving it a try as it is a very fast read. I definitely will be giving her thrillers a try, as my husband claims, they are the best.

Damnnnn was this an angst fuelled roller coaster from start to finish!!

I wasn’t sure what to expect when I started this, but blimey was I surprised to be swept along on this torturous, angst laden story of young love. This is a friends to lovers, forbidden love, innocent live all rolled into one & I loved it.

Chloe, once so broken and alone has finally accepted life moves on, and mostly that’s down to Logan, the guy she shouldn’t fall for but is.

Logan, once so lost & devastated has finally accepted life moves on, and that’s mostly down to Chloe, the girl he shouldn’t love but does.

Their journey had me shaking my head & holding my heart. It had me yelling at my kindle, all while hoping & praying that the guy got his girl, no matter the twists and turns they face along the way.

Fabulous read from start to finish. Pure heaven for angst lovers everywhere.

This was my first book by this author. I had no idea what I was getting myself into when I picked up this book. Yes, I read the synopsis, but it didn't give anything away. This book was very angsty and the whole back and forth of will they want they drove me crazy because it was obvious that they should be together. This book is so hard to review because there are things you just need to find out while reading it. There was a twist about halfway through that I never saw coming and honestly when it happened, I literally put phone down because I wasn't happy, but it just added to all of the angst. There were times when it would jump ahead abruptly that I had to go back because I thought I had missed something. I don't typically mention editing mistakes but when they happen so frequently throughout the book that it takes me out of the story, I have to mention it. This book definitely needed to be edited better. There is so much more I could say about this book, but it would spoil it, so I am just going to leave it at this.

Great Story

Chloe & Jace were friends first, but Logan liked her but knew he was older & didn't want to get in trouble. The Jace & Chloe started day and he stepped aside. Jace & Chloe were in uni and he went to London for a school trip and there was a bombing and they thought Jace was dead. Chloe & Logan brought each other through it. Now she feels like she would try dating but she really cares about Logan. It was hard at first and she ran but they finally got together. You have to read the book.

Started good. Soo slow and torturous. Come on!! Finally. Finally yay!!! nope ugh stop with the games the guilt. More torture. Ugh. WTAF?? If it were a paper copy I’d have chucked it across the room. Torture can be enjoyable but this is just ugh. Can’t be bothered. Deletes book. Sad. I enjoyed them together the writing is good but no. Just. Too much for my patience. Can’t be bothered to sit through anymore.

Mind blown.

Chloe and Logan story was different. He fell in love when he first saw her but she fell in love with his brother Jace. Jace went on a trip and a bomb went off, killing everybody. Chloe tried for 2 years to get over him, while Logan drank his life away and had sex with who knows how many woman. They both picked each other up and started fresh. Getting over a death is hard but they did it together.

I remember reading this at a way to early age, considering the content that was in the book. But the book’s characters and story were interesting. I wish there were more twists? And the writing seemed very lazy in a way, and the protagonist was very very whiny that it annoyed me several times. The only time I felt so intrigued by the story was when they found out Chloe’s ex was alive the entire time.

An enjoyable read but I felt it was a bit slow at times. I think would have also benefited by having the characters a couple of years older as there were a few things that I just thought was a bit unbelievable for their age or would have made the story stronger with two more years under their belts.

Enjoyable

Nicely written, with an unexpected twist which I didn’t see coming. I suppose the language is appropriate but, alas, I am not a fan of swearing so it did irk a bit. However the plot was cute, the sex scenes were not too overboard and the I liked the characters (very important!)

Pretty Good

This one was a pretty good read. It’s my first one by this author so I can’t compare it to her other offerings, like some reviewers. As long as a girl dating the brother of her deceased boyfriend doesn’t creep you out, you should like this one. It also had a twist I didn’t see coming and that was appreciated.

Are there boundaries after death?

The push and pull was a bit overdone. The first half was slow and sometimes hard to follow. It was hard to remember the characters are young adults and not teenagers.

Only reason I’m being generous and giving this two stars is because of the twist in the end. That’s it. I didn’t see that coming. But overall. Terrible. The story was just going in circles and circles I couldn’t stand it.

I loved the romance in this story! I felt so heart broken for the characters. I also felt many other emotions along with the characters. I would 100% recommend to those who are suckers for a good romance novel.

I really wanted to like this book. I love the idea of it. But it was way more than just a slow burn. When you finally get to the good stuff, your mind gets blown and then the ending just sucks. I wanted so much more from this book, unfortunately you’re not going to get it.

Ehhh....

I love Natasha Preston and will read anything she writes. That being said, this is not her best.
Predictable, cliche, immiture narrative. Over the top cute.
I did enjoy it, and I WILL read the next in the series, but it just wasn't up to par with her later works.

I can't wait to read more. But on the same hand I feel like it could have been better. There was so much repeated. Story line is good though.

Good read

Great story line-lots of ups and downs. The writing is not 100%-so as long as you are not a grammar critic you’d love the book.
