Where do I even begin?! This book is dark, nerve-racking, addictive, sexy, and yet so comforting at the same time. I think Winnie hit it out of the park with this book!
Damien + Ashia, a stalker/prey relationship. Through the book, you get to see it become sooo much more. Damien is obsessed with Ashia— but in ALL the most perfect ways. He would literally burn the world down and personally kill everyone in it to protect her. He is the head of a vigilante group, Devil’s Hands, and works to rid the streets of drug and gun violence.
But let me just SAY; this man is intimidating and badass, but oh so SWEET.

The playlist for this book is perfect. I am not normally one to listen to book’s playlists, but when I tell you it makes your experience SO much more immersive, I mean it! Seriously, give it a try.
I am simultaneously excited and scared for book two LOL. This book ends on a cliffhanger, and my eyes were BUZZING the last 10% of this book because of how action packed it was. Damien is unhinged when it comes to Ashia, and we just got the tip of the iceberg in this book. I have no doubt we will see him come unglued over her in book two. I NEED the next book, like, yesterday.
Overall, this book’s plot is absolutely phenomenal. The spice is SPICY. I felt the pacing of this book was on par— a few chapters in the middle were a bit repetitive or not as action packed (in my opinion,) but it quickly picked back up. My attention was grabbed from the beginning, and was simply never let go until I finished the book. The character development is excellent and the dialogue was exquisite. Damien is so suave and has a way with words, I promise you will fall in love with this man. Others compared him to a “Zade Meadows” at the start of this book, but his emotional depth goes WAY deeper than Zade and it is exceptional.
I highly recommend this book, it’s a fantastic read, and I simply cannot believe it is only Winnie’s first book! I was enthralled by it, and cannot wait to experience the next one!

I couldn't put this book down, can't believe it is a debut novel. The execution of the story is very well written, it is full of steam, but doesn't over power the plot. It left me breathless, ichty with anticipation and wanting to throw my tablet in fury!
It starts off being a stalker story, but it as this has more depth and deals with some difficult subjects, so be awate of the trigger warnings. It soon becomes so much more with lots of action from the start.
The chemistry between Damien & Ashia is straight off intense. Damien is amstrong, Alpha male who knows what he wants and that is Ashia. Serena, Ashia's best friend plays a protective best friend who has been through thick amd thin with Ashia, she havimg a more normal upbrimgimg. Wherelse Ashia has been through some very difficult times.
Damien the leader of a Vigilante group that helps trafficked women/girls and this shows. He is possessive, strong, and his obsession with Ashia holds no bounds. He cannot get enough of her , which leads to some tricky situations, but protects Ashia. He acts first, asks questions later kind of man. But he holds his feelings on his sleeve when it comes to Ashia.
Together they become united, he becomes her rock, making her realise she is a strong women. And she also makes him realise that love is everything amd more.
I totally recommend you pick this book up, I hope I get chosen as an ARC reader for books two & three as I can't wait to see how this story pans out. The endimg was brutal, leavimg me in frustration but isn't that what a great book does! Anticipating the next book, putting you in a tailspin as the book was mindblowimg. At times I felt for the fmc she deserved so much better not the handle she got dealt in life . Please please read the trigger warnings your mental health is very important . Ashia knows that he masked man does more than just watch her. He murders people, tracks, shadows them all, just like a professional killer would. But Ashia knows feels like she's the only one that really matters to him now, the only one he has in his sights. Everything in her is screaming at her to do something, to run, hide, call someone for help, but there is another side of her that is yelling at her that yearns for healing, love, that just wants to give in to him, to let him have everything that he wants.
This masked man forces Ashia to let go of everything that she's been hiding behind, forcing her to expose all her pain, all her tears, all her scars, leaving her raw, exposed. He forces Ashia to question everything, everything she knows, her very nature, and what she really wants. And she can't help but question what's actually going to be left of her, who she is, who she wants to be, but she knows that he's going to have to have his way with her soul first.
Damien actually sees her and only her. Winnie Brooks is a new author, and I really enjoy reading debut novels . This is one amazing debut novel, I can't believe that it is a debut novel. I had to really debate with this book as it has some triggers that I was worried about but, I was hooked by the plot and I was pulled into the book before I had a chance to really say no. And let me say this, this is a roller-coaster ride you are not going to forget, and I actually want more of these characters if I am being honest.
I can honestly say that while this story revolves around Damien and Ashia, there is so much more to this story than you first think. There is layer upon layer to Damien and Ashia, and as you read and the story unfurls itself, you start to see Damien and Ashia in a new light. And boy, does this book get emotional.
Damien, the masked man who hunts in the night, no one knows that it's him who stalks in the night, ridding the city of the worst of the worst, and he's not only been successful with keeping his true identity hidden but he's also been successful with the people he works with in DH.
You can tell that he's loyal to those he loves and cares about. But, those people are few and far between. The truth is, he doesn't believe that he will ever find true love or even just love another person the way that he loves his family and the friends who stand by his side, fighting the same causes that he fights.
It it just a glance, a single look to make Damien realize his entire world is changing. Suddenly, his obsessive side is released, and it reaches out and clamps onto Ashia. Not only does he become obsessed with her, but he becomes possessive of her. He takes moments out of his hunts to slow down and tries to show her that he can be sweet and that he's not the devil that everyone thinks he is. Nothing can change that Damien will always be a morally grey antihero, but in those sweet moments, you can't help but fall in love with him.
With her trauma filled past, Ashia has put up walls, keeping her heart safe from everyone, especially men who could break her heart again. She wasn't going to risk getting hurt again. She doesn't want or need anyone. She has no longing for anyone, not feeling lonely, not feeling the longing for love. But, she doesn't know that soon she's not going to have a say in it, that soon she was going to become the center of another persons world and he would be obsessed with her. She didn't know that soon, soon she would be getting sweet gifts, mysterious texts that would terrify the normal person but to Ashia, it makes her feel more than anyone had ever made her feel in the past.
Ashia can't help but question if she'll actually be able to fully accept this mysterious man when she actually gets to meet him face to face? And will she actually be able to love him after he keeps her on a string questioning everything?
Cut Me Down gives you a masked man who believes he's doing the right thing for his city while still being morally grey, the perfect antihero. He's going to lose his marbles for one woman and not only become obsessed with her, but he'll also become possessive over her doing what he can to protect her and keep her safe.
And the spice, oh, the spice is so good. It is hot and passionate, and in those moments, you can see the true chemistry between Ashia and Damien. You also will get the perfect amount of action mixed with suspense that will keep you on the edge of your seat. This is going to be a roller-coaster ride, so be ready to hold on.
I have to say that you need to grab this one and hold on for the ride of your life. And be ready to read and love a morally grey obsessed MMC who is also possessive of his woman, even though his natural behavior is more than just unhinged. But, I'll let you be the judge of that.

And the spice, oh, the spice is so good. It is hot and passionate, and in those moments, you can see the true chemistry between Ashia and Damien. You also will get the perfect amount of action mixed with suspense that will keep you on the edge of your seat. This is going to be a roller-coaster ride, so be ready to hold on.
I have to say that you need to grab this one and hold on for the ride of your life. And be ready to read and love a morally grey obsessed MMC who is also possessive of his woman, even though his natural behavior is more than just unhinged. But, I'll let you be the judge of that.

I'm not gonna lie at the beginning of this story I thought I knew who both Damien and Ashia were but I was very much wrong. These two have so many layers to them and as the story unfolds you start to understand them on a whole other level. So buckle up it gets wild!
Damien is a vigilante who wants to rid the world of the worst kinds and has been pretty successful with his people in DH. He comes off as loyal but doesn't believe he will ever love anyone the way he loves his family and friends who fight for the same cause as him. With one innocent look is all it took to make Damien let his obsessive side out and claim Ashia. He becomes obsessed and possessive but even through his obsessive ways he has sweet moments that show he's not as bad as you think. He's one of those morally grey antihero types you can't help but love. So if you like your MMC's possessive and with a little unhinged behavior this one will be a quick favorite.
Ashia has a traumatic past and has walled herself off from most people especially men or relationships after her trauma. She's not looking for anyone even if she longs to feel loved and without even knowing it she becomes someone's whole world and begins getting little gifts and cryptic texts that should scare her but eventually it makes her feel more than she ever has before. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this dark romance. This is the author’s debut book and you would never guess that from the crisp writing style and detailed storyline. The main characters are Damien and Ashia. Damien is part of a vigilante group that helps rescue victims of trafficking. He has a close knit group of friends who he considers as extended family. Quite a lot of characters get introduced at the beginning of the story and we get an idea that they have good stories to tell and the author might be planning to make an interconnected series of books about them.
From the moment Damien catches a glimpse of Ashia he is sure that she is the one for him. He goes about making himself an observer of Ashia’s world before he becomes a part of her life. Damien is totally obsessed with his lady love and very soon makes himself an integral part of her daily life. For a dark romance the love that these two developed for each other was very sweet and encouraging. Damien and Ashia help each other become the best version of themselves as well as get comfortable being who they are. He helps her overcome her fears and also eliminates an ex who had been abusive to Ashia. She in turn accepts him just as he is without any judgement and that was a significant trust-building step as Damien’s life involved a lot of violence and any girl who loved him had to love all the parts of his personality even the secret vigilante persona. The story ends in a HFN with a cliffhanger - can’t wait to read the second part !

I deeply appreciate how the story isn't just about their relationship--it explores resilience, trust, and the raw complexities of their worlds colliding. There are moments in the middle that felt a bit repetitive; if some parts had been trimmed, the flow might have been smoother. But beyond that, I loved every part of this journey. The character development is exceptional--seeing Damien become more in tune with his emotions was truly touching. The final chapters had me on the edge of my seat, holding my breath, craving to see what happens next. This is my first time reading a book by this author and I most definitely won't be my last!! That's for sure I loved every single minute of it!! I lapped this baby up, never putting it down once, I was hooked from start to finish.
It's such a crazy emotional rollercoaster ride with a HFN ending and a little cliffhanger. It's dark, unhinged, raw, intriguing, intense, addictive and oh so delicious!! Ashia has fears! Damien is a little unhinged and thinks he's a saviour.
It's packed with fear, drama, action, suspense, trauma, possessiveness, and loads more. The characters and character development was great. The storyline and plot was excellent and wonderfully written. For this authors debut novel it was such a epic read. I'm looking forward to reading more from her. Highly recommended!!

So many emotions from this book! Vigilante justice organizer stalks, obsesses over, and falls in love with a broken and abused woman who finally lets her guard down for him.
Damien didn’t think love existed for him considering his line of work. He never thought Ashia would open herself to love again after her abuse and almost loss of her life. He was willing to push her boundaries to see how far he could get. Ashia never thought she would trust another man after her last relationship. She was so paranoid around most people that she confined herself to her home and very selective people outside of work. Damien was a huge surprise to her.
I couldn’t put this book down! Just kept wanting to see if Ashia would move past her fears and fall in love. I wanted to throw my tablet at one point! (Once you get to that point you will understand). It is well worth the read!!!

What did I read 😍😍
Like literally how can I beginning 😩. It was a medium pace which I loved cuz it gives you time to get to know the characters and the story line/plot. Damaged but strong FMC that was given the short end of the stick since the beginning but is taking life by the balls😭, MMC seeking justice in this messed up world and taking down the bad guys one operation are a time. But let me just tell you Damien is going up there on the top of the boyfriend's chart 😏. He takes tall, dark, and handsome to his OWN level. The mouth on him 🥵, when he come home she's sleeping but he still shows her some loving if you know what i mean, his playfulness with Ashia 🤭, and the love this man gives to Ashia and makes her feel so beyond valued * initiate swoon* all I can say is that Damien dose not kid around when he says "touch her and die 🔪" 😂🫣.

Oh my goodness, where do I even begin with this one? It was such a great read that had you drawing back in for more.
Damien and Ashia are just two people who are utterly perfect for one another. As a man who fights the growing drug and trafficking problem the best way he can, Damien never thought he'd find a woman for him. Till he saw Ashia through the barbershop window. Then it was as if he knew she was his and he'd never let her go. Ashia, herself, had one of the worst life's growing up, so she wasn't scared of the darkness found in Damien, she didn't fight him on it. She accepted it, just like she accepted him. But her past left her bruised and scarred and with high walls. He has his work cut out for him!
These two made me swoon! There are some parts that felt a little too slow for me, but it's such a great read I can totally overlook those!

Cut Me Down by Winnie Brooks completely wrecked me in the best way. This book grabbed me from page one and did not let go. It’s gritty, emotional, and raw with just the right amount of spice and darkness to keep me hooked.
The dynamic between the characters? Toxic, intense, and absolutely delicious. The push and pull, the angst, the trauma—they were all so well-written that I felt like I was in the story. Winnie Brooks doesn’t just write romance; she writes pain, healing, and obsession in a way that punches you in the chest and makes you thank her for it.
If you love morally grey love interests, enemies with a history, and emotional tension so thick you could cut it with a knife, this one’s for you.

This was such a good read. Damien is everything and the way he falls for Ashia got me! One look and he just knew. Ashia took a lot longer to feel for him what he feels for her but the way their relationship started and everything that she has to go through before him and for the first few weeks after meeting him makes you understand why. Once she does fall she falls as hard as he did. I did feel like the way she went back and forth with herself and her feelings lasted for a lot of the book and we only got a few chapters of her accepting her feelings and actually letting herself be with him before the book was ending. I’m so sad that it ended and I have to wait for the next one to find out what happens. Definitely recommend this but Mind Your Triggers!

🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ This Journey was amazing 🤩 It was an emotional roller coaster and I’m am here for it!! The trauma Ashia experienced and the fears, anxieties, and doubts she had to work thru touched so close to home for me. The way Damien crept in and broke down every draw bridge she had up was just so beautiful. This book had me giddy and so entranced, I told my husband,” I couldn’t stop giggling and creepy smiling while reading last night🥰!” Definitely a Favorite of mine and one of my favorites I’ve read in a while. Every character introduced were perfection even Charlie 😂 has me cracking up. The spice and all the kinkiness had a Lady blushing 😊 Don’t wait Run To Read and be a Good girl so you can Howl with me 😏

Cut me Down is Winnie Brooks’ very dark mafia romance debut novel, and for a first book ever it was quite good.
It had the vibe from some of my all-time favorite authors in the mafia genre (S.J. Tilly, S. Lexi and Michelle Heard), which is a huge achievement in my book.
The buildup for the actual storyline was a bit long, but it was necessary for understanding the complexity of the universe Winnie was creating. But once the buildup is complete, the story quickly takes flight and draws you into the universe and lets you forget everything around you while you cheer for Ashia and drool over Damian.
That this is going to be a trilogy makes me happy, as I was not ready to leave this other world quite yet.

I don't know how to explain it, but this book just does something to you. I could not put this book down until I finished it. This book has it all. It's dark. there's a stalker who you can't help but fall for him. With a name like Damien, you know you're going to love him, obviously. The name Damien just screams hot. Damien is intimidating, unhinged, and a badass. Underneath it all, he is a teddy bear.
"You don't have to be afraid of me, baby. you are more of a danger to me than I am to you." This quote right here is when I knew Damien would be my next book boyfriend! I went ferral for this man.

Love, love, love. Dark, twisted, and full of emotions that made me feel exactly what the characters were feeling. I could not stop reading and the entire time I was waiting for the next part.
Damien and Ashia is a troupe that I thought that I wouldn't like, but I fell in love with them. Damien is intense and intimidating and oh so protective of Ashia. He will literally do anything for her. Ashia has been through so much and still comes out stronger then ever. Yes she is haunted by her past, but Ashia doesn't let that get to her. Damien is head of a vigilante group working to clean the streets of crime. Trust me on this, this is a must read and I am all for recommending it.

Definitely read the trigger warnings. It is very graphic, especially in the spicy scenes. It is quite long and it took me some time to get into it. The two main characters are very well developed and you will now them very well by the end. It took me some time to read because it is very slow paced in my opinion. Spice is very hot and the plot is good, but I think it could have been developed much more quickly. I do recommend this book, but again, read the triggers; it is an intense read. It is the first in a three book series, so be prepared to go right into the next one, but you will have to wait until 2026 for the third one.

Such a good book!! The ending had me scared for my life for a second!!! I love Damien with all of his over possessiveness. I like that he’s very straightforward with her and honest. Most books I feel like they try to hide with they do, but he really let her in and I appreciate that. Ash and her fiery spirit was made for Damien in every way, definitely giving him a run for his money lol. Even with all that she’s been through, she’s so strong and really lets Damien help her through that. I can’t wait to keep reading the next book in the trilogy!

Hooked from the very beginning. This book has all the perfect elements of stalker romance, mafia adjacent, and deep dark twisty romance. Then throw in a bucket load of spice and a mmc who will only be a teddy bear for you. He is such an oxy moron. Total badass, but I will absolutely snuggle and geek out with her over silly things. Some of the language used at times through me out of the story a bit. It was almost cringy, but other than that, it was a solid story, with a plot that doesn't quit. The last 10 percent of my heart was in my throat. I need book 2!

Ohmygee! This book is such a wild ride. It's filled with twists and turns and all the best tropes. It's dark and gritty. At some points, you love and hate the MMC, but on the same hand, hope for love. I absolutely love this book, and I will be reading anything and everything Winnie Brooks writes. She is a phenomenal author, and you should definitely pick this book up today. Please check Trigger Warnings! And jump in for one he!! Of a wild ride.

I couldn’t find enough time in my day to read this book as fast as I wanted. Trauma, suspense, dark romance (but how am I swooning too??). It was everything rolled into one and I loved every second of it. The length was intimidating, but it could have just kept going and I would have gladly absorbed every word. Winnie put so much thought and emotion into Damien & Ashia and wrote them beautifully- separate and together. Can’t wait to fall more in love with them in book 2!

I don't even know where to begin with this book. I was hooked from the VERY beginning!! I loved it so much and went through SO many emotions reading this book!! Damien is now my top favorite book boyfriend; I honestly love how possessive he is! Ashia is sooo strong, I admire her so freaking much. I have fallen in love with the way Winnie writes, you can feel ALL the emotion. It honestly deserves more than 5 stars!!

This debut novel by Winnie Brooks had me sucked in from the beginning. There was trauma, emotion and a super sexy vigilante that I was completely there for. I loved the plot and the ending. There is definitely plenty of spice too! I was definitely sad to say goodbye to this one once it was done. Highly recommend but check your triggers first.
