Rate this book
Protector...Lover

She'd been a prodigy since birth, a woman for whom no puzzle was unsolvable. But when she was attacked in her very own research lab, brilliant, reserved Dr. Genie "Genius" Watson quickly discovered that this time she didn't have all the answers. Only Dr. Nick Wellington, once considered more foe than friend, could help unlock the memories her brain refused to reveal. Like a sexy, gallant knight, he'd come to her rescue, insisted on protecting her from a madman hell-bent on revenge - and determined to break through her icy veneer. But with time running out and a killer closing in, would Genie surrender to the ache in her heart that only her Dr. Bodyguard could cure?

Jessica S. Andersen is an American writer of mystery and medical romances. She obtained a PhD in Genetics, but when she finally settles on a single career, she will have been many things: a doctor of molecular genetics, a patent agent, a freelance editor, a professional horse trainer and riding coach, a fiance and the proud owner of a pair of corgis. But if you ask her who she is, Jessica will say, "I'm a writer. The rest is all background research."

Jessica lives in a smal farm in eastern Conneticut with her own personal hero, Brian, as well as the corgis, two cats and a handful of young horses, who she claims are investments but never seem to get sold.

I reread this baby after ages and ages and it still makes me swoon...

HQN's are dont always make a mark but this one was bullseye.. I loved Genie and Nick individually as well as together. They were such good foils to each other, I adore how Nick realizes his feelings about her.. Ugh... so good.....

Dr. Genie "Genius" Watson was a child prodigy; her parents unsure what to do with her. Dr. Nick "Beef" Wellington was the son of a cold abusive senator and estranged mother; his childhood was less than ideal. So Genie and Nick do not start out on the best of terms when they find out they have to share a lab where they work.

I enjoyed that there was an ongoing story line when the book started. Someone is after Genie and means to kill her. Unfortunately, Genie doesn't remember what happened when she was attacked in the lab and Nick feels responsible because he was on their floor working but wasn't there to protect her.

How Nick and Genie turn their relationship around, find out who is trying to kill her and dealing with both of their pasts and insecurities are the foundation of the book. At the same time you'll learn a little something about genetics. I only wish that they could have communicated better. Still, it was a pretty good book.

I really enjoyed this Intrigue! So much, that it currently has taken the top spot on my author's first published/non-series list. It jumped into the action first thing and it was very smartly written. Dr. Nick was the perfect hero and the chemistry was choice. The plot was clever and interjected really funny, "perfect timing" moments of comedy. Overall, a very good read. :0)

A quick, fun and enjoyable vacation read.

...what? Don't look at me like that. Reading romance novels while on vacation is a must. ;)
