Rate this book
A passionate forbidden sports romance between a rookie and a veteran on the same baseball team, The Men of Summer Collection includes all three full-length, bestselling novels in the Men of Summer series performed by Teddy Hamilton and Jacob Morgan! Experience the fan favorite sports romance that spans first times, heart-stopping emotions, and five epic years…

As a pro athlete, I have one unbreakable rule when it comes to men—Don't date another baseball player.

Good thing I haven't been tempted once in four years in the majors.

Until the day a rising star walks into my locker room. Outgoing and sexy-as-sin, Grant has confidence and talent for miles. But, I've got far too much trouble in my past to want to bring any into my present.

All the more reason to resist the kind of dirty deeds his lips and eyes promise.

Especially as I get to know the man.

Even after I plant a hot kiss on the rookie one night after a game.

But when Grant tells me his secret one night–he’s never been with a man and he wants me to be his first–my resistance flies out the ballpark.

The only rule? Don't fall in love with him as we go.

I try. I swear I try not to fall for him. But once I break that rule, my life is turned upside down, and I’m forced to choose between love and baseball.

SCORING WITH HIM

Scoring With Him is the first book in the Men of Summer series by Lauren Blakely. If you have read the first few books of Rules of Love series then you have met this hot men of summer as secondary characters. I started falling for Grant and Declan then and I am now completely swooning over them. I knew their story was going to be epic but damn...and this is just the beginning.

Grant was a rookie. Declan was starting his fifth season as a pro ballplayer. They were dedicated to their first love. Baseball. They lived and breathed the game. It was everything to them. That was the reason for their rules. Number one being to never date another ballplayer especially a teammate. They definitely weren’t supposed to fall for one. It was an easy enough rule until the moment they met at spring training. It was lust at first sight and it was completely adorable. Nerves. Sexual tension. Flirt. Laughter.

They both knew it was a bad idea. Grant had to make the majors. It was his dream. His goal. His purpose. Declan might already be in the big leagues but he had to stay on top of his game. No distractions. No men. He only played off the field during the off-season but this rookie was unexpected and he was hooked from the start. There was no way he could be this close to him for five weeks without a taste. And you know how it goes, one taste turns into two and two turns into more...

What will happen at the end of spring training? Will Grant make the majors? Can they go back to just being teammates?

Omg! This book is fire!! 🔥🔥 It’s full of temptation, baseball, passion, friendships, sarcasm, desires, and family. I absolutely loved every moment of it. I am so invested in this couple, it’s a little crazy. I can see why Lauren decided to give them more than one book. They are chatty men in and out of bed and I love it. They have lots of story to tell.

WINNING WITH HIM
Winning With Him is the second book in the Men of Summer series. It should be read after Scoring With Him where Declan and Grant first met at spring training.

The shortstop and his rookie broke all the rules during their time at spring training. Temptation won. It was everything until their time in Arizona ended. It was time for their first love. Baseball. They had to live and breathe the game during the season. It was the game that never failed them. Always wanted them. Would always be there for them. They couldn’t always say that about people in their lives but baseball would always be there. On the field was their home. Will they be able to resist each other during the season? Will they give into temptation during the off-season once again?

I really can’t say much about the story without spoiling it. I can say that the book spans over five years of their lives. Their story. Their careers. Friendships. Family. And of course I can tell you that I love these men!! Hard. They are definitely one of my all-time favorite couples of Lauren’s and I have read every single one of her books. I am addicted to her words and the men and women of her epic love stories. I laughed. I cried. I got all kinds of hot and bothered. I cried some more. I just love these men of summer!! There is so much more to them than just baseball and hotness. So much more.

ALL IN WITH HIM
All In With Him is the third book in the Men of Summer series by Lauren Blakely. You can not read these books as standalone novels. This series is Declan and Grant’s epic love story spanning five years. If you haven’t read Scoring With Him yet then stop reading this review and start from the beginning of the series with Scoring With Him!

Five years of longing. Five years of missing. Five years of watching from afar. Five years of pretending. It was now their time. Their time to figure how to be an us. To figure out their path.

Omfg! No joke. I have read every book Lauren has written. I have fallen in love with her men and had a lady crush on many of her women. I can’t really get into the story but I will say that Declan Steele and Grant Blackwood are my favorite Lauren Blakely couple!! I just love them. Each book made me fall even harder. Their love story was soooo worth the wait. I love how they support each other while also competing in the game they loved. Baseball was their everything. Can they make room in their hearts for more? Are they finally ready to just...be. This couple made my iPad spark with their heat. This couple made me laugh, cry, and swoon. They also made me wait to watch a baseball game!! I would love to go to a game with Declan’s mom and Grant’s grandparents. They are amazing!! Their friends and teammates as well, I can’t wait for their stories!

The way Grant and Declan navigate their journey—discussing intimacy, opening up about sex, discovering themselves, each others and learning to communicate—is so genuine and refreshing. Their relationship grows beautifully, and the story is as inclusive as it is full of love.

The lighthearted tone of the first book is a joy, while the second book is an emotional rollercoaster that breaks your heart and puts it back together even stronger. The third will absolutely heal you and gives you the HEA we all deserve.
And also:
We need more Cyndis (Declan’s mum) in this world.

This is a touching journey of a wonderful couple learning, growing, loving apart and together.

Thank you so much Lauren for writing this beautiful, lighthearted, emotional story. It's been a long time since I have cried so much with joy while reading.
Thank you Teddy and Jacob for your incredible narration. You put two amazing characters into life exactly how they should be.

If you love Schitt’s Creek, please dive into this story. It will worth every second of your time.

On the whole I adored this series but have to admit that by the end I was a little over infatuated... I just mean that for me personally I should have taken a break as I found myself almost (irrationally) getting mad at how damn happy they were -- I know, I know. Surely that's why I read it... you'd think, but apparently my emotional reponses to books are about as reliable as sun in Melbourne.

The stories were good.
The characters were fun. - I found myself relating to both mmc's and I enjoyed the other side characters and story lines.

I truly want the HEA. I want the 'will they/won't they' tension - fully knowing they of course will. And heaven help me I want the spice - all the spice and this delivered. When the spice hit it was the best spiciest spice of spice, it was wriggle in the seat worthy and I loved it.

But i also got a little over the drawn out time frames, if I'm being honest. I also found some conversations a little over the top and did check with some homosexual friends if it was safe to sit of their couch - their reply: is it safe to sit on yours? Touche.

Anyway - if you want an overarching love story that is sweet...then ready away. Or listen as Teddy and Jacob do make it even more worthwhile ♥♥

Sweet story

These books were a pleasant read, however felt they could have been condensed into two books. There was a lot of repetition and not really much substance to them, they could have done more with Declan's dad's alcoholism storyline or even Grant's parents (not wanting him) to add a bit of drama to the stories. The night club storyline in the 3rd book was a bit wishy washy as they made a huge deal over absolutely nothing, this book seemed pointless and could have just been an epilogue on the end of the 2nd book saying 10yrs later : married, kids, career etc etc didn't need to be drawn out into a whole book. I didn't really understand the title 'the men of summer collection' as the books start at spring and never really have anything to do with summer, confused? Overall the series is a nice, easy love story with some sexy scenes, and the two MM lead characters have some nice chemistry and banter throughout the books.

Audiobook Review-

Teddy Hamilton and Jacob Morgan? Yes please!! Even if the story hadn't been great, these two still would have delivered. However, Lauren Blakely did a great job with these 3 novels. You really felt for the characters. Stuck between two loves and what the consequences of any decisions they make, she really captured about how much it sucks to grow up and make hard decisions. The story was interesting and kept me engaged and rooting for them both.

The only real complaint is what I am seeing quite frequently. Epilogue upon epilogue. Honestly, if a story needs more than 1 epilogue, just make the story longer and include the content.

Didn’t work for me

Yeah, I don’t think this author is for me. I did not enjoy either of the 3 books and only finished because I purchased the set in Audible.

Firstly, I found the dialogue incredibly stilted and cringey. Every interaction and every minor thing caused an overreaction and catastrophic relationship ending drama. Their reasoning for why they couldn’t be together, why they couldn’t stay together, why they may break up was so over the top and repetitive.

The drama was so phoned in and manufactured that it annoyed the crap out of me

Overall this series is 4 ⭐️
I really enjoyed the time period of growth & the story being told over 5 years but the reasons they gave for not coming out together, and the break felt a little weird.

It was great to learn more about their friends and families & i definitely noted the title of River & Owen’s book.. however some of the storyline was just corny. Like not in a good way.

That being said the audio narrators were 5 ⭐️- I would listen to Jacob Morgan & Terry Hamilton read a phone book.
