Frank Colquhoun, the former Vice-Dean of Norwich Cathedral, takes his readers through forty beloved hymns in two sections. In the first section, he deals with the Church's year, taking us through Advent, Christmas, Epiphany, Passiontide, Easter, Ascensiontide, Pentecost, Trinity Sunday, and All Saints. In the second section, he deals with twenty general hymns, including Abide with me, For the beauty of the earth, O for a thousand tongues to sing, Teach me, my God and King, the King of love my Shepherd is, and Who would true valour see.

This book is the long-awaited companion volume to his two bestsellers; Parish Prayers and Contemporary Parish Prayers.
