Fun Romantasy with yearning and great pacing. A lot of books I’ve read recently have fallen victim to putting all the exciting reveals in the last 20% and this one didn’t! Finally a book that had an ending to book 1, but still makes me want to come back for book 2.
Perfect for fans of The Lies of Lena and The Witch Collector.

4.75 super fun super super everything-I-want-in-a-romantasy stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🌟 let’s get into it 👇🏼

Also a huge thank you to the author for sending me a copy of this book!

PLOT
- forbidden love
- witches & daemons & gods/goddesses
- thoughtful, meticulous
- morally gray MMC
- the leads met-as-teens-&-got-separated trope
- lower spice
- book 1 in a trilogy

PROS
- I really liked Ena as an FMC. She was someone who thought through shit before making a decision & while sometimes that can seem like maybe she’s rolling over or not standing up for herself she’s absolutely figuring out how to adapt to the current situation & get what she ultimately wants. & I loved her for it.
- Ty was a fab truly morally gray MMC. I loved everything he was struggling either & how that presented itself over the book.
- Omg the longing & tension between Ena & Ty was everything. It was delicious & I couldn’t stop reading & seeing how it unfolded.
- I love a flashback so getting some of those was so nice.
- Unique premise! I really liked the magic system with the witches & the lore behind the daemons. This felt different from so much I have read & I really enjoyed that.
- There was a fun shift early on that took the story somewhere I didn’t expect. I really thought I knew what exactly was gonna happen to start & we went on a whole different adventure which I really enjoyed.
- I liked the ending quite a bit. I’m reallllly exciting where this is going to go.
- Interested in some of the developing themes.

MIDS
- Not reaaaaally a con but I predicted most of the reveals at the end which isn’t super surprising for me. But if you wanted a huge twist at the end this probably isn’t it. But I AM excited about how it ended & where it’s going because of that. The ending was refreshing more than shocking.

CONS
- There was a spice scene when they were younger (I think she was *almost* 18 & he was ~20) that I don’t think needed to be as detailed given she was not quite 18. Made me feel a tad yucky so I just aged her up, whatever 2 months.
- 1 thing seemed a little plot armor-y (in the spoilers)

I will ABSOLUTELY read book 2 of this trilogy!

- Matriarch was def one of the women in the vision from the amulet.
- Excited to see where the theme of like, propaganda/misinformation goes.
- I’m SO glad she chose him at the end & we are going that way. I was worried we’d spend all of book 2 repeating the same sort of separation as book 1 & I’m happy to see where it goes given how it ended.
- At the end when Ena went to get Ty I was like… okay if all the other witches have Knowing shouldn’t they have sensed her? She could sense so much wildlife in a forest, etc. so it seems a little improbable that with a captured daemon & “enemy” witches nearby they wouldn’t have had someone using their Knowing between where she left, when she got him, & then back to the stables.

4.5⭐️ I am actually shocked by how much I enjoyed this??!! The perfect length, I just read it on a whim and couldn’t put it down!!! The Knowing, witches vs daemons, the unique powers gifted from Gaia. A childhood lovers to enemies to lovers!!! Kidnapping!?? Seriously I’m obsessed 😂

NEED BOOK 2 NOW LIKE SERIOUSLY SO GOOD

I loved how it was not too long and seriously was perfect- 330 pages and everything about it felt completely necessary. THIS is the perfect example of show, don’t tell. The magic system is shown so perfectly throughout the book that it didn’t need to explicitly explained. And the dynamics between witches and daemons was shown through character interactions without explaining detailed historical conflicts. I just loved that - it felt so intentional and perfectly paced !!!!

Ena is such a strong FMC and I seriously CANNOT wait for more from her. Especially after that ending!!!

Book one in a dark fantasy series and it does not disappoint. First we start off with wonderful world-building setting the scene with rich imagery! The magic system was unique and I loved all the characters. The author does an amazing job at pulling you into the story early on and having you completely immersed into the world. The Knowing Witch is a magical and dark story of power and forbidden magic! Mix that with a beautifully written slow-burn with just the right amount of spice!

What to Expect
💜Slow-burn
🖤Enemies to lovers
💜Forbidden Magic
🖤Grumpy/Sunshine
💜One Horse/One Bed
🖤Morally Grey Characters
💜Second Chance
🖤Unique Magic System

I will absolutely be continuing this series because I need to know what happens next. This book does an amazing job at setting up the story for the next book and I’m HOOKED!

It took me a lot longer to read this book than I would have liked because of life, but I finally made it through 🤣

I truly enjoyed this book and the journey we are set upon. Ena is confused about why she was given a rare and dangerous gift, so she’s constantly going through a battle within herself. But regardless of that she is smart and feisty. Ty is cocky and arrogant but isn’t very good at hiding his feelings for Ena.

The ending sets us up beautifully for the next book, thankfully not on a crazy cliffhanger.

a true romantasy

Yearning, obsession, forbidden love…

This book has it all.

Ena is a witch. She meets Ty one summer evening, and they spend a few days together, falling into teenage bliss. But Ty must leave, and for 9 years Ena pines for him.

Then one evening, somehow, their paths cross again. Except now they are enemies, and she is taken by him and forced to do the bidding of her enemy. A daemon (demon).

What comes next is a journey of discovery, of finding out your enemy’s true intentions, falling back into a love lost, and trying to find a future together.

I loved this book and I love how book. 2 is set up. Such a good read. Perfect flirty banter, yearning, spice, and beautiful descriptive scenery. A must read!

I COULD NOT PUT THIS BOOK DOWN 😍

A feisty and powerful yet gentle spirited FMC?! Our queen. Yes please.

A grumpy, cocky AF, flirty, mysterious MMC?! Raw. Next.
OH and let’s not fail to mention he’s *obsessed* with her and says stuff like, “I’ve dreamt of you for nine years. You’re mine. Do you hear me? You’re mine.”

🫠🥵😍

This is a cozy yet dark fantasy that hits the group running immediately. I LOVE when books dive into the plot immediately while incorporating world building and lore into the mix and this one does just that. It’s easy to follow and the magic system and lore is super interesting.

Also this book is HOT. idk it just made me feel some sort of way 😮‍💨

You’re going to love TKW if you like:

Enemies to lovers
Forbidden love
Morally grey men
Grumpy X sunshine
Twists + secrets
“F*ck it” 🤤
Touch her and ☠️
One horse AND one bed
A cozy forest setting

I absolutely LOVED how it ended and I cannot wait for book two!!

Recently, I was given the opportunity to read the ARC of The Knowing Witch by M.M. Parks; the first book in the dark fantasy series, Omnis. The book leans heavily into themes of grief, trust, and transformation, all wrapped up in a slow-burn, lovers-to-enemies-to-lovers story, set in a world where nature and magic intertwine beautifully.

The FMC, Ena, is gifted with a power from Gaia in a magical ritual on her 27th birthday, as per coven tradition. Enas journey is one that is raw and filled with emotional depth. She is smart, down to earth, and unafraid to speak her mind, and I loved how easy she was to relate to. If you love fantasy that feels intimate and deeply personal, with a side of romantic tension and second chances with a morally grey MMC, then definitely check this one out!

Overall, I loved this book, and I feel it is a strong debut for the series! I'm looking forward to the next book 📖

Shout out to @mmparksauthor for allowing me to read this ARC in return for an honest review.

“I never forgot you, Ena. Never. In fact, I’m so obsessed with you, I think you’ve ruined me for anyone else for the rest of my life.”

I could NOT put this book down. In this story, we meet a witch named Ena who is gifted by the goddess Gaia with a power on her twenty seventh birthday just like every witch in the coven. Hers is forbidden unlike the others, and she’s more powerful than she might realize. I was OBSESSED with Ena. She’s strong willed and will fight for what she believes in, even if the lines are a little bit blurred. She’s down for an adventure even if she might be scared. Add in her trickiness, you have a new FMC to root for 🤌🏼

Ty, my man, my morally grey man. No one tell my boyfriend I have another book boyfriend 😂 while he does things that are frowned upon, his good intentions are there. Sometimes. 🥴 He complimented Ena well. I loved the little jokes he would crack here and there cause you always need a little comedy relief to break it up.

A little side note, I loved Turner. I hope we get to learn more about him as the series continues. PROTECT HIM AT ALL COSTS.

✨ What a GREAT book! First love → strangers → enemies → lovers!?

The Knowing Witch completely swept me away. This story has everything: forbidden love, kidnapping, magic, witches, daemons, gods, and a beautifully painful slow-burn romance that spans nine years of mutual pining. NINE. YEARS. 😭

Their relationship starts as a sweet, whirlwind teenage romance innocent, intense, and unforgettable. Then life rips them apart. When their paths finally cross again years later, they’re no longer starry eyed teens… they’re enemies..

He needs her help to complete a side mission that could free his people from an evil god’s enslavement, and the tension between them is chef’s kiss. The longing. The resentment. The history. The unspoken feelings that never went away. Every interaction is LOADED with emotion.

The magic system is intriguing and the world of witches and daemons is immersive without being overwhelming. But the real heart of this book is the romance it's aching, tender, and earned.

If you love:
• 💔 Second-chance romance
• 🔥 Enemies to lovers
• 🖤 Forbidden love
• ✨ Magic & gods
• 🥀 Years of pining

…this book

?? POTENTIAL SPOILERS ??

When I signed up to be an ARC reader I was not expecting to love it this much. When I received it, I was in a reading slump. I couldn’t pick up or finish a single book and this book solved that. I devoured it.

I don’t even know where to begin.

“I’m so obsessed with you. I think you’ve ruined me for anyone else for the rest of my life.”

After her Summoning, Ena learns her Gift from Gaea is one of danger and is forbidden. She grapples with this knowledge and starts to question what her meaning, and path, in life is.

Ena gets kidnapped when she witnesses three strange men ransacking her home. Ena soon realizes that one of these men is the man who broke her heart after breaking his promise to return to her and is hurt he seems to have forgotten her.

While “helping” these men on their quest, she starts to realize that maybe the path she thought she should be on, was not the path Gaea intended for her. Ena has so many questions and is on the hunt for answers—both from herself; and Ty, the man she still loves.

The Knowing Witch is full of amazing plot, a little bit of romance and spice, and a unique take on Witches (in my opinion). I fell in love with the characters of this book and felt all of their emotions.

I usually struggle with third person POV, but M.M. Parks has crafted such an amazing story with The Knowing Witch. I have recommended this book to many friends and I cannot wait for book 2.

4.5 ⭐️ I absolutely enjoyed this book! Thank you so much to Book Sirens and M.M. Parks for the opportunity to ARC read. I absolutely loved M.M. parks writing style. I thought it was beautiful and descriptive - I was able to picture everything clearly in my head. This book gives off witchy and mysterious vibes which I loved from the very start. I absolutely adored the FMC Ena. She is relatable and had a lot of character growth throughout the story. I thought that the story was perfectly placed and plot was also on point! I also enjoyed the world-building, because it was very well done. In the next book I'm hoping to get an even more exciting plot and more depth to our main characters.

Tropes:

✨ Forbidden Love
✨ Enemies to Lovers (kinda)
✨ Magic
✨ Protective MMC
✨ Spice 🌶️🌶️
✨ Secrets

Overall, I really enjoyed this book and I'm eager for book 2! The end of this story really set us up for an exciting next installment 🙌🏽 I would absolutely recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a fantasy romance with witchy vibes and an intriguing storyline!

This was fun! I’ve been in such a slump because of heated rivalry so I feel like it’s skewing my thoughts. I don’t read a lot of second chance romance in Romantasy but I want more! I loved that the two main characters had a fling when they were younger but then didn’t see each other for 9 years! It makes for amazing yearning and angst! The magic system was very fun and cool too! You have witches and demons in this world, but they do not get along… i will be reading book 2

3.5 stars.

The book follows Ena, a witch, one of the strongest in her coven. Ena and her sister lost their parents young, and have since lived with the matriarch of the coven.

On their 27th birthdays, the witches get their special powers. Every witch also has the knowing power that connects them to nature, they can literally feel the animals, track and locate themselves. The way this power is described is so beautiful and well done, the witches really feel like a part of nature.

On Ena’s 27th birthday she is set to receive her gift, the gift she gets is deemed dangerous and wrong. She’s then told not to use her power. When she finds three strange men breaking into her house looking for something, she tries to stop them but instead ends up getting kidnapped and has to join them on their journey. But are they really strange? Or have they met before?

I loved reading about Ena and her coven, witches are one of my favorite fantasy creatures! Ena is such an easily loved character, and you can feel her strength and power! The backstory about the witches and daemons was so interesting.

Once you get to know what the men were looking for I got even more invested in the story. As their mission is very understandable and even somewhat makes you root for them. Also liked how the story unravels and shows that almost everything Ena knows isn’t true.

The romance between Ena and Ty, is also so well done. The angst and yearning had me kicking my feet, LIKE OMG JUST TALK PLSSS!!! It felt like a really mature romance and I loved that. Ty my man I love you!! The characters knew what they wanted and went and got it!

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. Thank you to Booksirens and the author for this!

Now to the cons…

So from my reading and understanding the setting of the book feels medieval like 15th or 16th century europe/england. Now of course this is a fantasy but all fantasies have some semblance of relation to out time periods. I mean at one point one character is threatened to get drowned in the ocean so? Ena and her coven live in a village, there are human villages close by, on their mission they sleep at taverns and the likes. But the language in the book feels way to modern. Using modern language totally took me out of the story, the characters would go a bit back an forth with old and new language and that made the story feel less real. I’ll even go as far as to say some of the language felt so American? I read a lot of historical romance (19th, 20th century) and the only time the word “sex” is used in a way of gender, “sex” is not an act in those books. So to read in this book the following lines:

“I was scared I wouldn’t stop and we’d end up having sex on this cliff but I just met you yesterday and you’re leaving soon?”

“The casual grace and confidence with which he moved was incredibly sexy.”

Felt very out of place, maybe it’s just me but when you set up the book like it’s medieval and then have the characters casually discuss sex? Well idk.

Lastly the last chapter was so interesting and I can’t wait to find out what’s going to happen to Ena in the next book. I know once she realizes her power and is able to use her gift even more, she's going to become the best witch, I even have a feeling she’s going to become matriarch. All in all I really liked the book and know the next book is going to be even better!!

Ena is the FMC of this novel and she is so smart and down to earth. I like how relatable and sensible she is. She knows what she wants and she goes after it, she doesn’t settle or shy away from speaking her mind. The book is paced really well and sets up nicely for the sequel, which I am definitely looking forward to. In the beginning, she seems to be in need of a change of pace, and she definitely gets that with quite an adventure! Most of the book is spent traveling and the farther they travel, the more she learns about her world. Ty is the mmc, and he’s super smart as well. I adore him!

I received this beautiful ARC and once I started reading I couldn’t put it down, I read it in less than 24hrs! 💜✨It’s a dark fantasy dealing with witches and daemons that has an enemies to lovers, second chance romance, and forbidden love style. Our FMC Ena is smart and tests boundaries while our MMC Ty is a little morally grey with protector vibes.

I want to start by saying thank you for the opportunity to read this ARC—it’s always exciting to discover a new story, and I could truly see the heart and intention behind this one.

The storyline had a lot of potential, and the overall concept really intrigued me. While the beginning felt a bit slow for me (especially the first 70–80 pages), and some scenes were a little stretched out, I did find myself becoming more invested as the story progressed. The pacing picked up later, and the ending really stood out in a powerful way. It gave me the emotional payoff I had been waiting for and tied the journey together beautifully.

I’ll be honest—there were times when I felt a bit frustrated with Ena’s character. She seemed heavily influenced by the beliefs she was raised with, and for a large portion of the book, it felt like she didn’t have a voice of her own. But by the end, I finally saw her growth, and that made her arc feel much more satisfying.

Now let’s talk about "Ty"—he absolutely stole my heart. I loved everything about him: his protectiveness, his pain, and the quiet strength he showed throughout the book. His love for Ena felt raw and real, and he’s without a doubt my favorite part of the story. The mutual obsession between the two of them was intense in a way that readers of dark romance will definitely appreciate.

While I did feel the **writing could use a bit more polish**—some parts felt repetitive or lacked emotional depth—I also see a lot of promise in the author’s voice. The foundation is strong, and I believe with some refinement, future books could be even more powerful.

Overall, this was an emotional journey with a compelling concept, a memorable male lead, and a rewarding ending. I’m really looking forward to seeing how the author grows and what they write next. 💛

Melissa wrote such an amazing book! I went through so many emotions and the end of the book was 🤌🏻

Ena:
•A witch
•She is very strong in her witch abilities
•Loves her sister Greya, they are besties
•Has a feeling that her path is unknown and isn't sure where to go after she gets her Gift
•Her Knowing power is 🤌🏻 (seriously once I understood what was happening it was so fascinating!)
•Ty is always the one who got away and never came back for her

Ty:
•Mortal Metal Dealer or is he something else?
•Grumpy and wears several different masks
•Has a soft spot for Ena and he can't help himself (will forever love this about him🥹)
•Is very much you touch Ena and you 💀 vibes
•Ena was his first love and the one who haunted him for years

Book review:
•Anything less than 5 stars deserves to drink psilovenom
•Definitely first love/forbidden love vibes
•Kinda sunshine fmc and kinda grumpy mmc, both are just too stubborn 🤣
•Witchy vibes, spells, daemons, powers/gifts, PNW vibes with the world building
•Turner is a cinnamon roll and deserves to be protected at all costs
•Spice level 3, definitely open door scenes and language
•There is light gore and violence in the book not a lot but it does happen throughout the story.
•Finding ourselves/love and forging a new path  vibes

Im just not into it when an FMC pines away for an MMC for an entire book and he gives her next to nothing. I just didn’t really care about these characters unfortunately.
Ena loses her virginity to Ty when she’s 17. She’s known him for about a day..The sex seemed pretty average to me but it apparently blew her mind because she never has sex again for over 9 years while she pines away for him. She thinks about his green eyes and how much he challenged her.. like when he got her to swim in a creek and climb a small cliff… sigh. They are 27 now and read like they are 16.

Thank you so much to the author for the gifted copy of this book. I don’t feel comfortable giving it a rating because it has underage relations. The character has just turned 27 then it did a flashback 9 years and 4 months to the past. Under 18. I think this should have been thought out a little better.

Thank you for the opportunity to read this ARC! I genuinely loved this book

I read this in an afternoon - I was engrossed from the first chapter and the more I read, the less I wanted to put it down. Excellent story telling, character development, backstory reveals, world building - it had the lot!!

I always try to do spoiler-less reviews, so if it seems vague, tough, you'll just have to read the book to understand!!!

So firstly, we have a truly steamy slow burn romance that it so intense, it's wild. But what I enjoyed was that Ena and Ty both have wonderful stories outside the romance as well. Honestly the development of their relationship and their outlook on love reminded me so much of Jane Austen's Persuasion (my absolute favourite book) - young and intense love followed by a forced separation, only to meet again older and jaded (but still secretly yearning??). As the story progresses, we see them both soften, but their duties and loyalties to their respective races keeps the slow burn going, until...???

I love a good magic system and the only reason that this isn't 5 stars for me is completely personal - I could have done with a bit more exploration into the differences between the Powers and the Gifts - how they work, how they are learnt, where they come from etc - only because we learn why there is a difference. Also at times, it was hinted that the Power is received through completing tasks? - I'm not sure, I just needed a bit more clarification and exploration of the magic in the book to satisfy the dark academic in me - other than that, the system felt really unique to me and I like that the central theme of the book centres around the Gifts and Powers. I am also assuming that because of what goes down in the last act of TKW, we could get some more explanation in Book 2?

The Knowing Witch ticked a lot of boxes for me - if you like spice, you'll definitely get it but it doesn't detract from the overall story, there are tropes like second chance romance, forced proximity/shared bed, forbidden love to scratch the Romantasy itch. But I think they way that Ena and Ty's story is told is just brilliant and really makes TKW special - you understand their motives and reservations, so the slow burn makes sense for them, rather than being "just a trope".

I am really looking forward to Book 2, and so happy that I could read the ARC for The Knowing Witch", thanks again!

Title: The Knowing Witch by M.M. Parks - A Sinfully Enchanting Dark Fantasy

From the first blood-soaked ritual to the last whispered secret, M.M. Parks casts a spell so potent it demands to be felt, not just read. 'The Knowing Witch' is a dark symphony of power, fear, and forbidden magic, pulling you into a world where every choice echoes, and the shadows hold their breath in anticipation.

💀 The Story: Ena’s journey into the depths of her power isn’t just a rite of passage—it’s a descent into the very marrow of magic itself. From the visceral tension of snake decapitation to the intoxicating, blood-soaked Summoning rites, Parks doesn’t hold back.
