Bernard Jarvis is waiting to die. He and hundreds of others are standing in line as the government conducts a routine purge of its least valuable citizens. While awaiting his execution, Bernard meets an old friend with some radical ideas. He begins to think that maybe the state shouldn't have the right to determine when he dies.
