Why I Love New Orleans
New York Times Bestselling Author, Heather Graham has had a long standing love for New Orleans, Louisiana. She has used the city as a setting for many of her novels and there are many reasons why. On her blog in 2013 she spent 30 days sharing what she loved about New Orleans. From favorite restaurants, to museums she loves to her most loved ghost stories, she shared what made New Orleans one of her favorite cities in the United States. Now she has compiled these blogs into this ebook that she wants to share with those who are going to New Orleans, those who have dreamed of the city and want to learn more, and those who might want to debate her choices. Why I Love New Orleans is a love story, it's the story of Heather's love for this magical city.

New York Times and USA Today best-selling author Heather Graham majored in theater arts at the University of South Florida. After a stint of several years in dinner theater, back-up vocals, and bartending, she stayed home after the birth of her third child and began to write, working on short horror stories and romances. After some trial and error, she sold her first book, WHEN NEXT WE LOVE, in 1982 and since then, she has written over one hundred novels and novellas including category, romantic suspense, historical romance, vampire fiction, time travel, occult, and Christmas holiday fare. She wrote the launch books for the Dell's Ecstasy Supreme line, Silhouette's Shadows, and for Harlequin's mainstream fiction imprint, Mira Books.
Heather was a founding member of the Florida Romance Writers chapter of RWA and, since 1999, has hosted the Romantic Times Vampire Ball, with all revenues going directly to children's charity.
She is pleased to have been published in approximately twenty languages, and to have been honored with awards frorn Waldenbooks. B. Dalton, Georgia Romance Writers, Affaire de Coeur, Romantic Times, and more. She has had books selected for the Doubleday Book Club and the Literary Guild, and has been quoted, interviewed, or featured in such publications as The Nation, Redbook, People, and USA Today and appeared on many newscasts including local television and Entertainment Tonight.
Heather loves travel and anything have to do with the water, and is a certitified scuba diver. Married since high school graduation and the mother of five, her greatest love in life remains her family, but she also believes her career has been an incredible gift, and she is grateful every day to be doing something that she loves so very much for a living.

This book covers about anything you could possibly want to know or learn about the legendary city of New Orleans Louisiana. From history lessons, to the best restaurants, haunted tours, shops, plantations, historical house etc, it's all cover here.

This book was just plain fun. I'm getting ready for my first trip to the Crescent City in May, so I grabbed this book to read. It was a Smashwords freebie ... which means you should grab it, too!
Author Heather Graham did 30 blogs in 30 days, talking about why she loves the city. With subjects ranging from hotels, to restaurants, to plantation tours and more, she provides information and anecdotes that keep it all from reading like a dry book report.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and got some great ideas for things to do during my trip as a result.

Valuable advisor for visitors
We have been to New Orleans and loved it, and plan to return. I read this book, really a series of blog posts compiled into a volume, to see what we missed the first time around. I was also curious to see what we'd done that made the author's list. I was happy to see a good mixture - we missed enough to look forward to returning, but we also have some big points of interest under our belts. The WWII museum, which is as fantastic as the chapter describes, was a highlight for us, as was Mardi Gras world and the random art shops and street musicians so prevalent in the city. The author makes recommendations for shopping and dining, and touches on the Civil War related stops that we want to make next time. There is clearly plenty to do in NOLA, and the author covered a lot of ground without spoiling the experience.
Content, including background/ history, abounds but I didn't care for the writing style. The author abuses exclamation points and often speaks in broken sentences. Perhaps these read better as blog entries, though I personally prefer a more polished approach.

3.5 rounded down. A general overview of New Orleans activities this author wrote from blogs 10 years ago. I haven't been since the covid lockdown, so I'm assuming some things have changed. A good gathering of ideas if you've never been. Some are from the surrounding areas, so I don't know if I'd pay to rent a car to travel when there's so much to do in NOLA by itself if you're flying.

A couple things she missed!
Cooking schools--great to watch and of course you get to sample enough for a huge meal. Costs used to be less than a meal in a restaurant.
Free music at the park near the start of Bourbon Street with Steamboat Willie. There's a cafe and bar there.
Jazz shows at the Sonesta hotel across the street. Those used to be free (maybe a 2 drink minimum) but now cost.
.25 cent martinis at Commander's Palace and some other locations around the city! Love the pink elephant version. Limit of three!

I am totally ready to go to NOLA. This blog covered so many choices that you would need months to do even the mentioned ones. From celebrations, eating, hauntings, museums, river walks, accommodations, grave yards, mansions, to even drinking establishments, she covers a vast area with excellent information. Going to take this book with when I head to the deep Cajun region. Very good read.

I'm finished with Why I Love New Orleans: Started reading this before our trip to New Orleans. Found it to be fairly informative and the touch of personal experience and love of the city.Unfortunately, with covid some of it no longer applies. Several shops are now closed. Including the Muse Conti. Hopefully they reopen

This book was a disappointment. Having been to New Orleans and having loved it, I feel that Ms.Graham made it sound seedy and dark. I realize that a blog reflects the writer’s feelings, but I’m rather sorry that I read this.

If you are planning a trip to New Orleans you have to read this book. The author talks about some of the sites you have to see when you are in NOLA.

Great book, I really enjoy Heather's books and this one was fun and brings in so many memories of Louisiana. When I lived in Lafayette, I visited Nawlins at least once a month. She talks about so many places that I truly love. When you visit, the Funky Pirate on 727 Bourbon St. check to see if Big Al Carson is singing the Blues. He is absolutely worth making the trip! Maybe in your next book add him and Frenchman Street!

I feel like I should express my thankfulness for the fact that I learnt about being able to stay at the bnbs at the nearby plantations. But really the writing is quite mediocre....
