Trevor Holton

He's every woman's dream. Thanks to his humble beginnings, he's edgy, outspoken, and determined to win. Holt is also the highest-paid wide receiver in the league and well worth the money he's paid. Not only is he worth millions, but he's also physical perfection. That alone has every woman willing to do any and everything he asks. Well… every woman except one, Sutton Kelly. What man wouldn't be satisfied with having it all, if that's what having it all really means? Unfortunately, no matter how far you travel, sometimes the past follows. Trevor can't seem to erase the darkness, but he refuses to allow it to define him.

Sutton Kelly

She's a young Black woman at the top of her game with no room for distractions. She's witty, brilliant, beautiful, and finally being taken seriously in a world dominated by men. Sutton fights daily to be respected as the general manager of a thriving NFL team. Sutton knows the game and is damn good at her job, but all the world seems to acknowledge is her father's legacy and her pretty face. Well… everyone except the last person she needs to be distracted by, Trevor Holton. He's the name and face of her team which deems him off-limits. But Sutton finds herself stuck between her attraction for Holt and her need to be respected, a dangerous combination.

When Trevor and Sutton's worlds collide, will it be a beautiful mistake or a horrible disaster? Either way, they are bound to find out, because fate keeps intervening. The burning question is, will they be able to find a happy medium to coexist, or will the lines get blurred proving that you can't fight what's meant to be?

Re-Release?

⭐️⭐️⭐️ 1/2 Stars

I’m baffled…Why re-release a story without cleaning it up…this story was chucked full of errors. I really did enjoy this story, and if not for the errors I definitely could have delivered a better rating.

This was an ok read with an interesting story line and a few things that were done pretty well. Unfortunately, I did not love the execution, which is disappointing because I really think it had the potential to be great. To be fair, I am an avid football fan and love sports romances, so I’m perhaps a bit over critical.
Sutton Kelly is the young, female general manager of a struggling football team. As the only Black female GM in the NFL, she is determined to make her team successful and prove that she deserves her position. Trevor Holt, that same team’s star wide receiver, is determined to win a championship, even if it means he has to go to another team to get it. Put That On Everything is a twist on the more common plot of a player and his agent falling for each other and instead has the love story play out between a team’s GM and one of her players. Naturally, this presents a huge conflict of interest, so they have to navigate falling in love along side dealing with the pressures of their careers.
Sadly, I don’t think Sutton and Holt did the story justice. Holt was too self-centered for my liking and had very little regard for the potential professional repercussions that Sutton could face if their relationship was discovered. For me, true love requires care and respect, and part of what goes into that is not blatantly undermining your partner‘s dreams and goals with your selfishness. To truly enjoy a romance, I have to root for the characters, but I can’t root for someone who is so indifferent to what is clearly very important to their partner. And to make matters worse, Sutton didn’t push back enough on this behavior, which I was unimpressed with.
Also, some of the ways the plot played out were very unrealistic and I couldn’t suspend my disbelief enough to properly enjoy the story. I won’t go into too many details, but one example is Holt having to explain to Sutton that he won’t be able to spend as much time with her once the season starts. This would be fine if she wasn’t part of the sports world, but as a football team’s GM this is something she should already be deeply aware of. Not to mention that she should be similarly busy. Another example is the way holt speaks to Sutton’s bosses—which are also his bosses—and the total lack of consequences that come from these interactions. I am highly skeptical that if this were to happen in real life there would be such leniency.
I also didn’t fully believe their love story. I felt like it was more lust driven than actual love. And while I enjoy sex scenes as much as the next romance reader, I wish there had been more instances of them doing casual things that better showed the progression of their relationship. I did appreciate that we got to see Holt’s vulnerabilities and that he was willing to let Sutton in emotionally. I also liked seeing them interact with their friends and loved ones.
Overall, I give it 2.5 stars.

I loved Holt's story and Sutton complimented him so well, they were perfect for each other. It was a very interesting love story especially with his view on relationships. Now Porter and Rachel I can't wait for that because they're so much alike it's a recipe for drama.

Holt was a broken man who had been through so much at a young age. His general manager sutton changes his outlook on love and it blossoms into something so rare and breathtaking. K.C this story was amazing. #0850

Both characters got on my nerves. Trevor was selfish as hell, violent and misogynistic. Every man around him
Was as well. Sutton was silly as hell because why are you letting this man keep you at arms length like that and risking your job over it when? Chile….

Good Read

Good read but Sutton got on my nerves sometimes. She had way to much attitude sometimes which is irky. But I loved her and Holt together. The love was real and you could feel it. I was enthralled how you put them together and kept the focus on them. No cheating really made it great. Holt came with alot but he got himself together and got his woman. Porter and Rachel story is going to be off the chain. Loved it. But there were alot of errors. This is a first but it didn't take away from the story.

From the ratings I guess I'm in the minority when it comes to toxic and borderline controlling and abusive relationships.

ugh

It’s kinda nauseating how male centered these books are honestly. I don’t mean male-centered by way of a man being the main/focus character but more so that the women are always written to give way to the man no matter his actions. It’s always written that the woman is being overly sensitive, not being understanding when she doesn’t want to excuse behavior but the man just comes in making demands, they’re never understanding of the woman’s situation, her concerns/fears, and when the woman gives any semblance of finally standing up for herself they come back leading and apologizing with intimacy then all is forgiven.

It was the same tired song with Mission/Tayah & Varro/Myon. The guys are always overly and unnecessarily arrogant, making demands that the women cut everyone off, do entertain anyone else or it’s always a threat made to them and whoever the other man may be. Mission, Varro, and Holt all made these demands while in the very next breath saying they’re not ready or they can’t offer anything else. They come barging into houses kicking ppl out when all they can offer in trauma dumping and making the women do their emotional labor.

They are never understanding of the woman’s position, it always has to be their way and the woman just falls in line. They don’t respect boundaries and in many ways the women are written to be weak and sex-crazed. A career driven woman like Sutton unable to stand in any of her convictions is insane. Yes love can change you but there is rarely any real give and take in these relationships. The men always have so much unhealed trauma and they come turning the woman’s life upside down and she just goes with it, in tears, apologizing, for problems the men created because they refuse to communicate and force the emotional labor on the woman. Holt not even being understanding of Sutton concerns about her career is so selfish. That’s all these male characters know how to be selfish, demanding, possessive, and violent.

Holt kissing her at the event then showing up to her house, forced his way in and that was all it took. He got mad she was having dinner at her house thinking she was going to invite that man in her bed after he was with her that morning but he literally invited not one but two women in his bed that very same night. And then telling her she should feel special bc he left to come to her. It’s actually quite ridiculous.

I thought i was going to want more of Rachael and Porters story but honestly if it’s going to be more of this trauma dumping man, forced emotional labor on the woman who can never feel her feelings when issues arise without being blamed and guilted for having those feelings, letting the physical excuse all things i can do without it. There is no healthy balance and every book I’ve read from this author it’s this same song and dance, from a woman author I was hoping to get more substance from the women characters but it just them giving way to the man at every turn regardless of his actions, letting him make demands in her life at first encounters so I think I’ll pass.

Enjoyed Sutton and Trevor's story, the editing not so much

First let me start by saying I love the characters this author creates. Not only are they likeable but they have flaws, no one is perfect and the two main characters have passion and deep love for each other. My only negative about the book is the fact that the books is badly in need of editing. Never should I as the reader have to figure out what the author is trying to say, as if I am figuring out a puzzle. I've try to excuse the constant 'he' for 'her' or 'an' for 'and', but "I intern" instead of "I, in turn", or 'magnet' instead of 'managed', is a huge, unnecessary annoyance - especially as this kept happening throughout the book. Case in point, "His mouth damn near devoured mine but we magnet to keep up or pace", that's a direct quote from the book! Also, at one point Earl's name was replaced with the name Paul (SMH). K.C. Mills, let me know if I can help with editing.

Liked the story but didn’t love Sutton’s de-evolution

I liked this story but one thing I really didn’t like was Sutton first being presented to us as “boss,” savvy, sharp, on point etc only to devolve into the stereotypical d—matized damsel. For as much as she talked about the risk to her career she did absolutely NOTHING to practice discretion or awareness of the risk. And then the way everyone — even her bestie — pounced on her for her understandable reaction to things finally coming to light was very annoying. Also thought that as much as I like seggs scenes, I would’ve welcomed some more substantive “getting to know each other” moments over just the physical always taking center stage.

Cute love story

This was a feel good, cute love story. Quick read. Some cliché things but overall decent. I was expecting a little more back story on the imposter Trever, I’m not actually sure what his purpose was. He didn’t move the story along at all. On another note, this needed more proofreading. There were lots of weird typos.

Sometimes it takes a lot of love, and others it's just enough. This couple dishes out double portions. They definitely belonged together. A nice story.

O.M.G!!! Amazing!

Wow ok, and double WOW, MS. Mills. You have done this up so good, and so well that I personally have been hooked from the start...
Trevor, Trevor, Trevor, "my, my, myyy, my, my, sure look good tonite" (Keith sweat)... Man, the only thing I can say is where do I get a Trevor for myself. This man right here was the epitome alpha male even as a jock, he was a wonderful, nice jock. Yes he was confident and all, but he was able to back it up, and the way he protected Sutton, WOW, and double WOW.
Sutton, was so good, and nice and so good. It was so refreshing to finally have a female lead so down to earth and literally real because most of these books always try to give a fantasy on the characters, but Sutton was so real, specially when Trevor went to defend her, she actually liked that instead of trying to show some fantasy way of thinking that she should be offended or something....yeah right!
The best part was how finally this book proved that all football players are not self centered prick and not all the time hot headed. The not so great parts were 1)not enough football talk, and 2) no further mentioned on how was Mary Ann delt with? How was she handled with after her little stunt?
Rach and Porter were so perfect and nice, but its Mission and Taya with sky that were a hit for me. I wished Bailey and Stewart does get what they deserve at the end.
All in all, this is again another standalone hit MS. Mills that is reinforcing your spot in my favorite author list....keep those standalone coming!!!

*4.5 STARS*

Trevor Holton! Where have you been all my life, bawbee! WHEW! Yes, I loved this. I loved Sutton and Trevor's chemistry. But, I loved more how complex Trevor was. He seemed to be just your average f-boy athlete running through women but he was so much more than that. He had a rough way of it but made it through.

The author didn't try to sugar coat the things he had to do in his rough upbringing. He lived through things and did things that Sutton didn't even have to fathom. But he needed her to love all parts of him not just the parts he grew into with his fame.

Their relationship wasn't easy (well except for in bedroom) but that is what made their HEA that much more worth it. I thought for sure Sutton would mess things up by not claiming him the way he so desperately needed and deserved but my girl came through.

I loved the secondary characters in this story too. Mission and Navarro and then of course Rachel and Kenyon. I will be reading their respective stories as well.

KC Mills is a newer to me author but everything I have read of hers has been wonderful. I can't wait to read more of this author's work.

Where Is the Audiobook??

I discovered Porter & Rachel’s story on Audible, first, but as I listened, & although Just Say You Will *can* standalone, as I kept listening, I kept thinking & saying “This book sounds like it’s the continuation of Holt & Sutton’s story.

I finished Porter & Rach’s book feeling like I was still missing a whole a$$ other romance. So I began my search halfway through and found this (with a 1 & 2 attached to it) in the Kindle app. Whichever company produced the audiobook dropped the ball and did this 2 book series a disservice.

I really enjoyed both stories immensely. The characters were had great chemistry, really good back stories & something to overcome to let love in.

BUT

I would have truly appreciated if there had been either a note in the blurb suggesting reading this book first or even better, this book as an audiobook too.

4.5 stars.

I really liked this story. The FMC was general manager of an NFL team and she began falling for one of her players. I liked the twist in the office romance. Here the FMC was the boss and the MMC was one of her players. What I didn't like was her inner thoughts being completely reduced to sex when in his presence. It like authors think the only way to demonstrate interest is for the parties to constantly think about sex. To the point where they can't focus on their job. That just cheapens the character for me and makes then two dimensional. Anyways, I really enjoyed the focus on the consequences for her as a woman in this male dominated industry. Overall, I liked her. The MMC was your typical alpha male but he also had a lot of depth to him. His background was tragic and he was broken, which made his love for FMC beautiful.

I loved this so much!!!

This was messy and dramatic but I had an amazing time reading it and I can't wait to reread this one.

I loved that Sutton is a female GM in the NFL. She was such a strong and powerful character and I loved both her back story and the way she grew throughout the course of this book. She is powerful and not afraid of that and I really enjoyed reading it.

Hunt made me so mad, but then he would be all swoony and I would forgive him. He was a typical f-boy pro football player. He isn't my favorite love interest I've ever read about, but he was perfect for Sutton and I loved that. I loved his growth as well and by the end he had me swooning.

I highly recommend this one for anyone who loves a fun and exciting messy story.

Interesting

This is my first read by this author. There are a lot of errors but she pens a good story. I don't know if it is something that I have to get used to with her style or maybe it was just this storyline but the drama factor always stayed on simmer. I was ready for a grease fire and didn't get that. I do love how conflicted Holt and Sutton's love story played out. Both were testing new waters and it gave it a REAL real life feel. There was quite a few laughs throughout. I wanted Holt to be a little more violent when... But otherwise I really enjoyed this story. I will give Miss Mills another try because I have always heard good things about her work

Great storyline. Glad to know Trevor Holton.

Great read. Mills always delivers. I knew I would love reading about Holt just from the preview of him in Love me or leave me alone. I now see why him and Mission are friends lol. The only problem I had with this book was the grammar. The spelling started off as a minor problem but then the incorrect spelling of words basically turned the sentence into something different. Also a few times the story switched views. If the chapter was on Holt there was as sentence that would make you think the chapter was Sutton. Little simple errors but nonetheless errors. Overall the story was great

good read

this book was very good and very entertaining. i love a good sports romance. the only thing tho is i wish the epilogue could have been at least a year after where they got married and had kids or something. but i still very much enjoyed seeing Trevor Holton (Holt), a man who swears to never fall for a woman, fall for Sutton Kelly. it was so cute. he fell HARD. i also found it funny that Sutton had a suitor who had the same name as Holt just with an “e” idk i thought that was a bit comical. but im excited for Rachel and Porter’s story tho i feel like they’re both gonna be fun to read👀😭😂

Trevor Holt

Baby if you don't know what it it already, it's definitely Trevor Holt!! Just when you think you've fell in love with her best Alpha male characters, then she presents Holt. I love him, absolutely love him. I can't put into words how a damaged unhealthy mind transformed into the most beautiful beast in and off the field but Sutton looked out for him and it changed everything that is Trevor Holt. I think I love him more than the character Bronx from another great book. If you haven't read anything from this author your life is incomplete. I hated for it to end.

Lovely!

I love the first interaction, I love the predator and prey visual I had in my head when Sutton first met Holt at his apt., I love how he made Sutton feel giddy and beautiful when she was in his proximity, I definitely loved the way Sutton enjoyed her man mentally and physically. Most of all I love the sensual chemistry between the two that it was pleasurable to read to feel it on all levels. Mentally, spiritually and physically. Damn! this was a great story. Can't wait for Rachel and Porter's story. ReneeG 👍

OMG loved this book

Sutton and Trevor relationship had ups and downs. But the couple came out on top she became his fiancee and mother of his unborn child. Trevor went thru abusive boyfriend his mother had over the years. It was hard for him to trust a women with his heart. Sutton broke down those barriers. Trevor was a womanizer and loved different favors of women until he meet her
I loved this book K.C. Mills is a great author I will definitely read another book by this author.

I feel like their story could’ve been more developed. In all honesty, it made no sense in pretending that she wouldn’t date a player because she did it two seconds after she said she couldn’t. It felt like there were some incomplete thoughts or purposes for some of the characters . I was expecting more consequences from Trevor, hitting the quarterback. The idea that 4% ownership outranks 48% was odd and stupid.

The amount of misspelled words, incorrect use of words and repeated sentences and phrases was alarming. Definitely needs additional eyes and editing
