Selfless

Rate this book
Sixteen-year-old Sasha Douglas appears to be like most other teenagers, at least on the surface. Those around her would say she's quiet and keeps to herself, but there's nothing extraordinary about her. They certainly wouldn't know anything of the pain she carries inside and the burden it's placed on her young shoulders. A chance of fate brings 24-year-old Eve Walton into her life as her new English teacher. Eve notices straightaway that something is wrong with Sasha, something dark buried beneath her carefully constructed exterior, and she makes an effort to get to know her troubled pupil, hoping that she might be able to help in some way to alleviate the girl's suffering. The friendship that blossoms between them goes beyond what either could have hoped for or expected, but will it end in peril when they realize their feelings go deeper than they should? Will Eve be able to maintain a professional distance and still help Sasha on the way to healing?

Good effort but...

My biggest pet peeve is when authors use descriptive words instead of the character's name. This book doesn't do that as much as some I've read but just enough to take me out of the story long enough to try and remember who is the blonde? The taller woman, the redhead, etc. These descriptions aren't necessarily after establishing the characters at the beginning of the book.
The story itself is okay but leaves a lot of loose ends and the characters aren't developed well. I never really understood the character's motivation for doing a lot of what did and the story was all over the place at times. Good effort though. I just think the author needs a really good editor to help smooth things out.

Loved it

Wasn't sure if I would like this one since it was a teacher/student relationship but glad I brought it. This is the second book I read by this author and will be looking for more. Eve was just great especially still trying to give your lover time to find themselves and to be there for their return.

Short enjoyable read. My only critique is that Eve did not seem to have any flaws. She was this perfect young woman who could play the piano and had no qualms about spending time with her student off school grounds. I'd have liked to have seen her struggle more initially as she seemed to give in to her feelings quickly.
